Just wondering what battery life people are getting from their N1, considering an N1 or Desire v buying another HD2 on contract but would prefer a better battery life than I got on the HD2,
Not totally related to the OP... I'm considering getting the Desire/N1 from AT&T or Verizon (if and when they get them) Using the current state-of-the-art technology in these new phones.... is it still the case that CDMA consumes more battery power than GSM?
You guys know that you can do a search right? anyway I've been on wifi all night with light usage. So far its been 12hrs and I'm at 65%.

Maybe I searched in the wrong places in the xda forum. I searched in the Imagio forum which is the only HTC world phone currently using CDMA & GSM, but there was nothing specific to the battery life of GSM vs CDMA in those threads. I also searched under the TP2. I know that the the CDMA N1 has yet to be released, so was looking for battery life information related to recent CDMA phones models which are also available in GSM... like the TP2. Maybe you found a CDMA vs GSM battery life thread that I missed, can you point me to it?

Nope didn't see one here. Just saying to do that first. As for the CDMA I suggest you search else where because no one gonna know an answer for CDMA vs GSM in an N1 thread. You can just wait til its released, the phone ain't gonna go anywhere you know, it will be available after a month of release too.
Getting approx 48 hrs with standard use (bit of surfing, email, txt's few calls bit of music on the way into work etc).
Decent 3G coverage at work and wifi at home, phone rarely has to hunt for signal.
Phone was charged last night and is showing 89% remaining - unplugged since ~ 7am thismorning.
Screen usually sits at the lowest brightness which is fine for indoor use.
I found a HUGE difference in battery life switching chargers. Originally used the supplied USB lead via a cheapy charger adapter thingy (how techincal! - it's the ones which allow you to plug in a USB lead and charge your phone)
Now switched to the charger which came with my bluetooth headset and that's helped no end with battery life. A full charge takes MUCH longer (usually ok as its charged overnight) so that maybe something to do with it.
My battery life was awesome for the first couple days, but now its just sucks... I lost 3 percent while it was just sitting on my pocket on my drive to work.
Yesterday I played Homerun 3D for 2 hours also and went from a 100% charge to 62%.
But mine is rooted, has the baked goods rom, and an auto rotating launcher with 7 screens while the brightness is always at 100%. Yea I guess you can say I'm a power user
I leave wifi on all the time and am getting 60+ hours of life out of it before a recharge. 3g is a battery killer .. roughly 18 hours with 3g on the entire time.

I see... I was looking for a "General" answer given the state-of-the-art of GSM and CDMA "HTC" smartphones as it relate to battery consumption. So the question still remains... given that xda is the forum where HTC smartphones are widely discussed I believe that posting the question here was adequate. The N1 is an HTC that uses components similar to other HTC phones. You might not think so... but we'll have to disagree on that.
EDIT: Btw, the question came to mind because a NYTimes article last week states that CDMA consumes more battery life than GSM. I recall this being the case in the past, but not sure if this is the case now-a-days. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/11/technology/11basics.html
To update - still at ~ 40%, no overnight charge. Moderate use last night.
This question is terribly subjective to the user/location. As one person point out, WIFI is more efficient then 3g, so some people see a huge advantage here.
My building also gets HORRID service, so my phone is constantly trying to find a signal which kills any phone battery
I think one cuold easily make the general statement that no this does not have the battery life of a blackberry, but the battery life is more then adequate. You can easily tailor your use to whether a charger is near.
If i know I cant charge it, I either carry a 2nd battery or take a few steps to save life. I turn my screen down(I like full brightness), clock the CPU down to 883, you could even turn off 3g networks unless you need Data for some reason. It would not be too hard to get this thing to 48 hours with normal talking/texting/some light browsing etc..
I am very impressed with the battery life overall.

Let me qualify my question a bit more... Assuming that the signal strength from both CDMA and GSM sources are either at "optimal levels" or at "similar low levels" and using the "same model" state-of-the-art Smartphone... Will the battery of the Smartphone using CDMA, last longer than the same model Smartphone using GSM?
As it relates to the N1... I understand that when the N1 from Verizon comes out that folks will be able to compare the performance of its features against the performance of the same features on the t-mobile N1.

I'm curious about it too. I think you should create a thread with the title instead. That way when you get an answer others searching for it can find it easy.

Guys, help me out here. I hardly even pass 12hrs with light usage on 3G with automatic brightness. Man what the hell are you guys doing to get such good battery life??? Did you charge the phone on the first day without turning it on? do you charge it off?? come on, I'm so angry that I got HTC to send me a new battery which should be here shortly. So any tips can help me out here.
I use wifi at home now, get like 14hrs, but with battery tools I get 20hrs last night. But there is something obviously wrong with my phone here. So please help me out here

my battery life is not what I would like to call great, but compared to some of these stories I guess I'm getting better than most.
The single biggest thing to help battery life is to have your phone rooted and use SetCPU to make a profile to not allow the processor to clock above 500 MHz when on standby.
Before all of you go crazy and say "OMG jz9833 I bought a 1 GHz snapdragon to run at 1 GHz" calm down. The droid runs at 600 MHz so when your screen is off why not have it run at speeds around the same as a droid? This helps.

There is a problem with our battery life and we all know its true... I have even been given a new battery and HTC mains charger
I turn off any service im not using at the time (ie: wifi, BT, GPS, NETGPS,etc) not that I should have to do this, but lets story on track...
My battery will make about 1 day as I am A "power user" but if its not plugged in I wont have the juice for my alarm to wake me up, my wifes Sony Ericsson lasts 4-5 days per charge, but lets not compare apples and oranges, the whi-phone 3g my sister has sahe bought it about the same times as my g1, she hadn't ever heard of "deep cycling" 2-5 times when you get a new phone, she never lets it discharge fully and just tops off all the time, AFAIK she is treating a NIMH cell exactly the wrong way, BUT SHE GETS 1-3 DAYS depending on the type of use, and never turns off ANY of the 3g, gps, net gps, wifi, BT nada and Id say she uses hers alot because its her primary camera, GPS & A/V player
my question is WHY?
Im sure there must be somebody involved with the development of this phone/OS that reads thru here, since there is more exciting stuff coming from XDA than there is the market...
Im gonna add a poll that pertains to battery use...
I wanted to add one very negative one but hit submit not preview, maybe just post and dont vote if none apply..
they better come off a new battery almost all other new phones will get 1-2 day + average use, Ive had phones that could go 3-4. but the state of the art G1 mindblowing innovative phone wont even work a whole day, so what if its bigger than the whi-phone, it has no keyboard.
I for one would like to hear some solid info on a replacement battery and back, for new and existing G1 users, early adopters got the fuzzy end of the lollipop on the HTC->headphone jack adapter I got the headphones with the htc angled adapter from fleabay, so many manufactures stick it to the early adopter, when we are the ones that get the word of mouth going, as people go "WOW that thing is cool!,what is it?! they know when we bought out phones and should be able to figure out when the head phone rev change was made, so send them to the first of the buyers....
IF the battery issue isnt fixed, alot of people will be very angry and the g1 will flop.
I think the bad press is starting to out weigh the good press the G1 and possibly android as a whole is at a crossroad. If the g1 tanks Android will be stained forever...thankfully enuff I dont think XDA-DEV would give up on this badboy, I love this thing, and I love it for what it can be
BhanG
Well stated sir.
HTC/Google need to fix battery problems in G1. Maybe it's soft bug, but maybe it's a hardware bug - Nobody knows
I dunno. With normal use, I get about 12 hours or more from my stock battery. That's about the same as other HTC phones I've had.
there is a battery issue and we are al aware of it.
i have managed to have it last through out the day
just set the brightness to the lowest possible, sleep time to 15 secs
turn off data and wifi and anything else that you are not using
its not how the phone was intended to be used, but it's what i ave to do for now
I find it fine for everyday use. Of course I haven't done a full test but maybe tomorrow I will.
I would like to use my G1 like I use my WinMo but no way I can with the battery.

I think you're exaggerating here a little bit. The battery life, while it got press at first, has faded from the limelight of android news for the general population. The G1 is already far from a flop and I don’t think there’s going to be a sudden mass return of all the handsets sold.
Let’s face it living on the cutting edge means you will get cut sometimes. Your high expectations will not always be met and manufacturers will frequently not care. The battery life is less than what many people expected, but we’ve learned to deal with it. At least we have options (power management, backup batteries, and expanded capacity batteries), but I’d not hold my breath on HTC making any major moves. How long has the issue been going with the TYTN II drivers anyway?

I have no idea what kind of use gets 1-3 days, but it certainly isn't 3G web browsing. Most iPhone 3G battery life tests clock 3G data use at about 3-5 hours. Based on my own usage of a friend's iPhone 3G, that seems to be about right. Coincidentally my G1 gets about 3-5 hours of 3G data use as well.
Frankly, from an engineer's point of view I have not seen any power drain tests conducted with enough rigor and variable control to be worthy of being called a truly scientific analysis. Even the best "battery life tests" out there aren't declaring what type of testing environment (los and distance to closest 3G tower), what background apps are installed, ambient temperature (which affects the battery discharge profile), etc. Without considering and removing these variables from the test, deviation could be as high as... well there's no fixing the percentage really. It's all just junk data.
I do notice after I installed Task Manager, to close out programs I am not using my battery life went up. There are a lot of un needed start up apps.

Yep my friend has iphone and we did test last weekend, both went 3 hours and change then died. If i dont use internet and set timeout and brightness down plus use task manager mine will go as long as my dash. I personally dont care about the battery life, i have a computer, home charger and car charger and i drive for a living so if it gets low no biggie. In my opinion i dont see android going anywhere and i love the g1. Just like wm its gonna take time to get off the ground. To say its at a crossroads is ridiculous.
I am using ADP1.1 and yea if I am browsing the net with 3G for 3-5 hours straight I start seeing the battery go down. But from 100% to 0% takes me longer than 5 hours. I know because I like to lay in bed and don't care to come check my messages LOL
I bought a G1 last week and so far I have been really dissapointed. After having an elf and seeing other htc phones I was expecting big things from the G1.
I am now a week into ownership and after 5 full charge - discharge cycles I am managing to get 24 hours out of the phone with next to no use what so ever. If i check my emails and do 30 mins browsing the phone is dead in 6 or less.
The hardware is simply put 'very poor' my screen is wobbly and the back is loose, all this after just a week.
As for android, it is fantastic everything I expected (except hotmail support) and there is no way it is going to flop. Its just a shame that google and htc didn't wait until they had the right phone for the job.
Thats just my 10p worth!!

It all depends on what you have installed. for me the start up is. I beleve amazon does too, but I uninstalled that. But the first thing I do is go into task manager and kill everything. And only like two things auto start up. I really with HTC built in a x-button app for android. I loved the click x for close.

Under light usage I get about 36 hours from full charge to shutdown. That's GPS on, Bluetooth on, Autosync on, periodically doing e-mail and web browsing.
Under heavy usage (Which is basically I listened to MP3s for 2 hours) it goes at least 17 hours before I plug it back in. I haven't tested but I'd bet it could go 20 or more.
That's as good as (or better) than I was getting on the Wizard/MDA.
I dunno if anyone has stated it but the problem with the battery has to do with the phone recieving the cell signal. For some reason the phone runs in overload when searching for a cell signal...I noticed this one day when T-Mo suspended my service and my battery meter never moved all day, I think by night it was down to 85-90%...sure enough that night when I paid my bill and the phone started picking up signal again, the battery depleted at "normal" speed.

Why do i keep hearing that there is no hotmail support? Android (and G1) works with hotmail just fine! Just go to the Email program and set it up. WHY!! .. I am having connection errors sometimes though..
Battery is a big issue. Never had any luck with it.. EVER.. just unplugged it and after about 1+ hour it's down to 66%. Played a game (slide puzzle) watched 2 youtube vids of about 3 minutes each. And I had it fully drained and recharged a couple of times in the beginning. It didn't even took 10 minutes to drop from 100% to 89%.. But I was on wifi.. Maybe this is normal.
Software has a lot to do with this I think. Yesterday I had about 50-60% left. Did something, can't remember what, opening programs or music. And closed it. After 5 minutes I checked and battery was hot and had drained to orange level. I checked with task manager and only calendar/messaging/tunewiki/music was on. I closed all and restarted the phone, cuz it was still hot. Luckily it lasted a few hours till I got home, with very carefull use..

Sort of... 3G uses less power than WiFi in some ways, and more in others...
In general, WiFi uses less for data because it is faster and thus spends less time fully charged up. But 3G uses less power when charged, but at slower speeds, so it ends up using more... ie, WiFi uses, say, 3power x 1sec=3 where as 3G uses 2power x 2sec=4.

That is a sticky at the top of this forum, read the first post it has a chart showing what uses what.

3% screen usage? Did you even use it at all? next time can you include the usage for each of the items listed in the list? would be helpful for comparisons
40 hours only?
I reached 3 days with this kernel meaning 72h and yes I used wifi,market,camera,sms... but all in light to moderate use.
My N1 is 5 weeks old so perhaps the battery cycles are beginning to make it last more too.
The minimum battery I have now is 48h when using ''Men's health'' app for an hour (lot of screen usage) while at body building.
I wonder if GPS will eat battery too fast

Are you sure you only used it for a 30 minute voice call? There's definitely something fishy there, it isn't normal behavior. If you have 3G on and you're in a place with bad reception a lot, or you have screen on (especially with max brightness), it can take up a lot of battery.
Install something like Spare Parts from the market which can show you battery usage history and use it to check whether you have any rogue apps running. If there's nothing suspicious there, you probably have a faulty battery. Any games using the rotation sensor even when they should be closed take up a lot of battery.

Well I'm in Manhattan, NY. Even though my signal is very strong outside(-51dBm) while in door its around -90dBm to 111dBm. SO I guess that could be a slight cause. I have it my phone on "gsm auto(PRL)" which has help. I also have the brightness on AUTO and everything else I do with this phone like texting, reading and the occasional browsing does not pass 20min. So a total of hour.
Now even after a fresh charge I loose 10% in 5hrs without every turning the screen on. This my second swap and I have 3 batteries. They all do the same thing. I just installed Spare Parts, lets see how this goes.
I have original stock rom unlocked
and currently it's been on 18 hours and I still have 77% battery left!
Gizmodo and MobileCrunch have pretty much bashed the battery life to make it sound like if its not on the charger, it will die in a matter of an hour or three. For the people who got one from the I/O or other means. What do you get from the phone during a normal days usage? If its that bad, have you guys use SetCPU/Locale/App Killers etc? Thanks.
With light to moderate use, it lasts through the day. A bit worse than Nexus One in that respect, but not too bad.
Agree with sergey.povzner.
Android central had a great review on this. I have heard a mixed bag of battery life. Some sounded very good some didn't. But it's the most power smartphone out there so additional drain is expected.
http://www.androidcentral.com/review-sprint-htc-evo-4g-android-smartphone
It not as good as my n1 but its close. It gets a lot better with custom roms without sense.
Uptime 10:08:35
Awake time 1:46
I had it plugged into computer for about 25 mins to transfer a movie.
I have 80% battery left.
No bluetooth, no GPS, no WIFI.
I don't have anything extra except gmail and another account frequently syncing. I get 4-5 hours of browsing and email with 4g on or off, wifi off, gps off. Standby time doesn't seem to have significant effect though I'm sure it would be measurable if you left it in standby for a day. Adequate to get me though a day, but I hardly use voice.
What if you are watching full length movie on HTC Evo, how long will the battery last (especially if I put it on airplane mode)?
I am planning to switch from from Xperia X10i to HTC Evo. My x10 has the usual battery drain problem but I have controlled it with task killer. However, I am yet to run a full movie on it. If x10's battery life has more survival time (with task killer on it of course) then HTC Evo then I might think twice.
Also can the 'task killer' improve HTC Evo's battery life?
Does anyone know if the Evo uses the HTC Touch Pro size battery like the Hero?
If so then I've already got an external charger and three extra batteries!
Honestly if anyone is that worried about battery life get another battery as a backup. Its been said many times on these forums that a HTC Touch Pro 2 and also a HTC Hero all use the same batteries as the EVO. (Confirmed). You can pick them up on ebay for around 7 or 8$. Which is pretty cheap! Nothing better than having an extra juice pack laying around waiting to be used! Hope this helps somewhat

LOL we posted at the same time, thanks for answering my question! I'll keep a backup in my glove box and one in my back pocket. This method worked great with my Hero.

i'm so excited, wish I had an extra battery though, it'd be nice
8hrs 15min till i get mine!
Gotta say this thing blows my old Moment's battery out of the water... 4.5 hours hard and heavy use... 60% left - no 4G coverage area (but it was left on by accident - ooops) and no video watching, but heavy text, email, and facebook/twitter activity.
I ordered the extended slim battery from seidio.com. 1750 vs 1500. Should give a bit more in the long run.
Its been decent for me though. Just dont jack up your brightness, keep it on auto.
Wifi kills my battery. The signal never settles even though the coverage should be good all over my house.
You want to go into advanced wifi settings and change WiFi sleep policy to never otherwise your phone will shut off WiFi after 15 mins of screen being off and you'll be using 3g which will use a lot more battery.

Mybattery was pretty terrible. Lose 10% per 40 minutes on standby mode alone. After messing around with it for a while I discovered the culprit was the location services. I turned them off and now I lose about 2% per hour on standby.

I'm curious, how exactly do you go about turning off the location services? Unless it's included with the GPS tab of the settings, I haven't been able to find such an option on my brother's Hero.

Hey guys! I'm a new user on this forum and I also a completely new android user, I have just gotten the HTC Desire HD. And I'm really really enjoying the OS. The way you can customize the OS is amazing! And Therefore I feel like I have been missing out for a while.
However there is one single problem about the HTC Desire HD and sadly it's a pretty big problem. (You guessed it,) the battery life. I'm not gonna lie, if i cut some features i can easily get through a whole day. But whats the point of buying a phone with lot's of features if you can't use them, and whats the point of having a 4.3" screen if you can't have the brightness level at 50+.
To the point!
HTC have already made updated batteries that have a much higher capacity than the original batteries, these are for some of their other products.
(just look at the higher capacity HD2 batteries by HTC, they have a higher capacity than the original HD2 batteries.)
That's why i suggest that we all contact HTC and let them know that we are both aware and annoyed by the horrible battery. And then request a better and improved battery for the Desire HD.
If you look at their updates, they have a pretty good history of listening to their customers.
And if their customer service department get about 300 requests in one single day I am absolutely sure that we will see a result in a month or maybe even faster.
I live in Denmark myself and I've seen a similar thread in
a Danish forum and in two days time we have had 183 people send mails to the Scandinavian HTC customer service.
Now there is only about 2000 active users on that forum so that's pretty good for two days. And with such a huge success in a Danish forum, I'm sure a big forum like this would do even better!
So if you have the time to write a little email to the HTC customer service telling them about the poor battery life and then make a request for a better battery, I (and probably every DHD user) would appreciate it.
And even if you are one of those lucky users that can go for days without charging while having standard settings, helping us wouldn't hurt.
Thanks in Advance
Well....although I do get your point, I am not sure that I, and probably other people as well, agree entirely on the 'horrible' battery life.
Yes, at first, it does look to have poor capacity when you get your DHD out of the box.
But remember, a lot of people, if not allm are using their new toy a lot the first couple of days.
If you browse this forum and the DHD topics you'll see that people report a lot better battery life after a couple of charges.
In addition to this, when you get into rooting and flashing, you'll see that users with custom roms, custom kernels and special profiles setup in Setcpu (like less Mhz usage when the screen is off) actually even get better battery life out if their DHD....
In essence, from what I have read, most people are able to use their DHD for one day without charging, which in my opinion, is quite acceptable, considering the size of the screen, the speed of the device and the possibilities and syncing going on....
If I sometimes read other cells'threads, it appears to me that the battery life on the DHD is not that far off, or even is better, than other top devices....
Having said that.....the effort you take I understand for sure, I just am not sure that HTC will do anything about it (as I think what we get is what we should expect)...
Where is the solution in that? Infact there is no solution its how it is

DHD battery life sucks.
There is no point defending it. Its a bloody mobile phone, it supposed to be able to work out of box, not a science project that u have to spend days tweaking it in order to last a day without the bloody adapter!
u can tell i m really crossed with DHD battery life...

It does work out of the box. Did yours not turn on?
If you mean 'it's supposed to have the best possible life the first time I fully charge it on day one' then, no it's not. You are wrong.
I just don't get it this was my first proper Android phone after coming from a HD2 and an iPhone 4 and the battery life is on par with both out of the box however simply reducing the time some apps sync I mean can you really not wait the 2 sec ish Twitter etc take to update? Really does improve battery life I have my screen set to 30% brightness which is more than enough if not you need specsavers not a new battery.
At a push I can get 2 days out of my DHD and I would say I'm a average to heavy user about 30 min calls 50 odd text and a couple of hours playing games surfing the net
Gadget show last night drained an iPhone 4 from full charge to flat in 2 hours using the layer app
I don't use setcpu etc I've just used some common sense.

I use iphone4 along side my DHD, almost identical setup in terms of sync and updates. when my DHD battery flat out in the afternoon, iphone4 has typically over 80% left.
I dont think it takes a rocket scientist to see DHD's battery is an issue.

Unplug mine from charging about midnight, get home from work between 18.30 and 20.30 and most nights I have approx 30-40% battery left, LiOn batteries need multiple charge / discharge cycles to get the best out of them so no phone is gonna be at it's best outta the box.
There seems to be massive difference in peoples experience with there DHD mine defo lasts as long as the iPhone 4 I had how yours can last less than 20% there must be something wrong

it seems that some people have a very good battery life even with heavy use,and some don't. I am new to android having come from windows mobile. In winmo devices, the radio version on the device can make a difference to the battery life on similiar devices.maybe this is the same case on DHD because I noticed there are several version of stock roms with different built of radio image.

There isn't really a benchmark for "heavy user". I reckon its largely due to different interpretations. Throw the difference in batteries that are likely to exist due to the manufacturing process, and you'd get varying reported results.

why do people complaint so much about battery life of DHD and other smartphone. when you look at their capabilities, you wouldn't switch your laptop on an expect it to last all day. cause its a smartphone doesn't mean it can do everything for you!
if the battery really bad, then the is a fault i.e faulty battery, app which is eating up resources, radio constantly changing from 2g to 3g which i think one of the biggest drain on battery or a set up which just going to drain battery faster etc etc. These phone when "out of the box" are set up to show the phone off, so yes its going to have it all sing and dancing at you! with everything switched on why you taylor the setting to meet your needs. please don't come back and say "but yes why have i got a smartphone and then i have to switch off all these features" you don't but don't expect it to last all day.
sorry about the rant but i think some people just have unrealistic expectations how long a smartphone can last. people who complain that the phone cant last 24hrs, why would you want it to last that long?. you telling me you don't sleep in that period of time if you want a phone to last 2 days get a nokia 8950! an if your a person who uses it as a business phone, come on what do you expect? your a heavy user. use some sense, have it so you can charge on the go or a get a nokia 8950 as your business phone, an use your smartphone as your own phone.

True, but i honestly cant see why it would hurt to encourage HTC to make a new battery with higher capacity as a part of their accessory lineup for the Desire HD.
sorry yeah i do agree with you, that HTC sould bring out a higher capactiy battery and don't understand why HTC have not used a higher capactiy battery in first place. ive also have a X10(1500mAh) and BB storm2(1400mAh) both have higher capactiy, and X10 is the worst for battery life out of the 3 phones and DHD beats both these phone on battery life.
HTC have the reasons why they used that size battery for the DHD and if they do bring out a higher capactiy at least you can believe the claims of it being a 1800mAh, were these 3rd party batteries claim 1800mAh but really you only getting 1400mAh.
i was not aiming this rant at you, an im sorry, its to people that complain about battery life of todays smartphone and there expections of them.

I got 48 hours of battery life this past weekend (2 full days) after reworking my phone on Friday. I actually got 24 hours of battery life one day, when I first flashed the phone a couple of weeks ago, with Light / Moderate use. I am running the Bonsai4All ROM. I had been running it previously but had flashed back to stock due to an issue with Wifi, that I thought might be related to this ROM. After further research I found the Wifi issue was NOT related so I decided, since I liked Bonzai so well, to re-flash and keep it.
Here's what I did:
* From Odin I flashed to the stock ROM.
* I flashed to DK28 via Odin.
* I loaded Bonzai4All_Leafless.zip, ext4-format_njournal.zip and kernel-EXT4-RFS-Bonzai.zip files to my sdcard.
* I rooted my phone using the OneClickRootCWM3.zip.
* Restarted my phone in Recovery Mode to update CWM to ext4.
* Flashed Bonzai ROM and started phone.
* Installed my apps.
* Restarted my phone in Recovery Mode and ran Reboot Recovery to get to CW 2.5
* Flashed ext4-format.
* Flashed Bonzai4All.
* Flashed Kernel-EXT4
* Restarted phone.
At this point I had a clean install and all apps re-installed via Google. Then I turned the phone off and fully charged my battery. I Bump-charged the battery 6 times (6X) to get a full charge (something I found in another post). Before I turned the phone on I booted into Recovery and Wiped the Battery Stats. I restarted the phone and followed these steps (also something I had found in another post in the forums regarding battery life).
* Turned off bluetooth when not in use.
* Turned off GPS when I didn't need it.
* Turned screen brightness to automatic
* Turned off 4G receiver since I was out of 4G coverage area this weekend.
* Turned off synchronization. Only enabled it throughout the day to sync.
* Left Wifi on as much as possible since I was in an area with wifi all the time.
* Toggled Airplane mode after I rebooted the phone. (the post stated it was a "stupid bug")
* Killed the OmaDrmConfigService process via Settings > Applications > Running Services.
The phone was used lightly over the weekend. I used Bluetooth when making calls and only syncing about four times a day. I also did a few text messages. I fully charged my phone yesterday and am using it more to see what the battery life is with Moderate use. At this point it has been unplugged for 20 hours and still has 64 percent charge.
I took pictures via Shoot Me every 12 hours. These pictures are real, they have not been tampered with. Don't know what anyone elses results have been but here are mine.
Ehh..With light to moderate use thats not too impressive; btw..the "bump" charging isn't good for your battery. Theres a reason why it doesn't fully charge; because it's not good for the health of the battery.
Sorry to burst your bubble man ^-^ I've gotten 36hrs on moderate/heavy usage.
OP, Did you change your Wi-Fi advanced settings to "never sleep"?

Everyone should just get an extended battery and not worry about battery life anymore. I run everything at their optimal settings and the phone lasts forever anyway. Brightness at max all the time, no juicedefender or any of that nonsense. Its awesome. You can leave GPS on contantly. Who cares, you got plenty of battery. And if you absolutely need the battery to last you can just tone down some things and make it last for days. Longest I have gone is:

I bought the 3500mah one from ebay. They go for like 12 dollars now. They are not actually 3500mah, but they certainly give a giant boost over stock. They are probably around 2600-3000mah realistically. I have a review in the accessories section. The name brand batteries might be better, but no one has done a objective test comparing them yet and for the price its hard to beat the generic ones from China. People are very satisfied with the Yoobao 2800 mah batteries as well, and those go for around 20ish dollars shipped on ebay. Both are the same thickness and add a little bulk to the phone but you get used to it almost immediately.

google this: Seidio Innocell. they have a 3300 mAH battery and i believe they might have a 3500 mAH one as well. so far ive seen nothing but the best reviews for this brand on newegg, amazon, as well as anroid central. theyre a bit pricey, but im not going to let that stop me from using my phone fully without fear of being too far from an outlet
Save your money and buy the generics. All battery manufacturers blatantly lie about their mah ratings, Seidio included. The only mah ratings that are genuine are from OEM batteries. That Seidio 3300 mah will really be around 2700mah. The criminals even have the balls to charge 6 dollars extra for the cheapest shipping after making you pay $75 for the battery. Buy the 12 dollar generic 3500mah on ebay which at a minimum will get you 2400mah real life or go for the 2800mah Yoobao which will probably get you around the same for $20ish. The generics blatantly lie on their ratings while manufacturers like Seidio and Mugen cheat on their ratings. Either way, you don't get the battery you paid for and at least with the generics you pay 7 times less.

I didn't know that to be honest. I was given the impression that a lot of the generic brands seem to have a shorter life even with comparable mAH ratings. I also read amazing reviews for this specific brand even on here. I'm not a fan-boy or anything, but I've been trying to find a decent extended battery for my epic as well. However, I cant go out and spend my hard earned moneys without doing some research and so far ive read that this is one of the top brands. The reasons to buy the Seidio is that you know you are going to get a perfectly functioning battery and that the battery might last longer than generics.
The reason to buy generics are that they are cheap as hell, but you may get a dud apparently, according to a couple people in my accessories thread, and might have to exchange it with the seller.
Either way, no battery other than an OEM battery will be at the rated capacity. I dont know how they are able to claim mah ratings that their batteries simply cannot reach. I mean, I know how the generics can do it, they are based in China and they can claim anything they want without retribution.
I recommend saving your money and getting a generic or even a Yoobao branded battery, because even if it does lose the ability to hold capacity 50% sooner than the Seidio would, you can just buy another 5 and still have paid less money than the name brand one.
I got 38 hours earlier with 3 hours and 42 minutes before i decided to plug it in at 9 percent
I'm on stock dk28
I don't have 3g on because in my house I'm by wifi, outside I'm blanketed in 4g and I noticed that since I took 3g off, my cell standby doesn't even show up in the battery percentage usage so I'm guessing that added to my battery life lol

* Turned screen brightness to automatic
* Turned off 4G receiver since I was out of 4G coverage area this weekend.
* Turned off synchronization. Only enabled it throughout the day to sync.
* Left Wifi on as much as possible since I was in an area with wifi all the time.

These 4 are probably the biggest drivers. I've gotten nearly 36 hours out of the phone before with light use.
The constantly waking to sync is a large drain in Android.
Also, I notice the WiFi radio in this phone practically sips power. The 3G radio, on the other hand, tanks the phone like no other, moreso than other phones (and all the reviews seem to confirm this by the talk time comparisons).
That and using the display in auto brightness. The display sucks down quite a bit, despite Samsung's claims to its power efficiency.

See my post above
I got those results with the brightness set to manual (usually I have it at 50-70ish%, putting it up to 100 when watching videos and viewing pics) and the auto sync on
I think it has to do with certain kernals and stuff? Idk but I don't think its worth gimping th features that make it a "smartphone"...
