Font Inconsistencies - HD2 General

Does anyone else have inconsistencies in their fonts in some pages of manila?
There are some areas of the font/letters that appear darker and some lighter, some with thicker lines, etc
I've attached some screenshots of what i'm referring to. It might not be as obvious from looking at the screenshots themselves, so I've marked some, but not all, of the "inconsistencies" with little red arrows).
Im wondering if there's a fix for it or any settings to change it. I've tried changing text size, but that doesnt seem to work... (and yes, I have tried searching the forum and wasn't able to find any previous threads relating to this).
I'm using Dutty's HG V1.2 at the moment.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Settings link to standard Windows settings screen

When HTC Sense is enabled the "settings" link in the program screen is linked to the settings tab/pane in HTC Sense. When Sense is turned off in the Today-settings, the same link points to the standard setting screen of windows mobile.
What I want is to make the "settings" link in the program screen to point directly to the standard windows settings (used to be "control panel), or better yet: a standalone HTC settings app then can run outside the Sense environment.
Why? I want to turn of the settings tab in the HTC Sense interface. Something that easily can be done by editing the registry. This way I can manage to minimalize the amount of tabs to 5. Just enough to prevent the disorienting scrolling to the left and the right when selecting a tab.
Can it be done? Is there an easy way to open the windows settings screen while Sense is enabled?
Thanks
You should try BsB Tweaks, one of it's options does just that.
Find it here:

Is there a way how to set it through registry instead of installing a special app on that? Thanks

Thank you!!!! Just what i was looking for....
For who wants to know:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration\12
Setting Enable to 0 hides the Settings panel in Sense.

BsB Tweaks does much more than just this.....Just check out the page and you will find that BsB Tweaks is a MUST HAVE App
Besides lots of tweaks it also makes it easy for you to Add Rotation for programs that do not automatically rotate, and/or add Pinch-to-zoom for programs that by themselves do not support pinch-to-zoom.
If you don't want to install the app, you could ask makeveral how he does the settings Tweak (I wouldn't know).
Pappagallo: Ok, thanks for tip.

Set this to zero:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo:HideSettings
and reset.
But there will be two identical icons for Settings after this. You can delete settings.lnk from the Start Menu to get rid of the HTC Settings.

That's fantastic. Now do you have any idea how to create a quicklink to the new windows settings? Can't find it for the life of me...
yes. noob here. All the *setting*.ink's i can find lead back to the sense settings, or handle different/specific settings entirely.

Scrollbar not working

Hi,
In WM 6.5 the scrollbar size increases when we tap over it however my scrollbar is not working in this way. Initially it was working but now it's not after i installed few softwares. Is there any registry edit or cab which can make it work in the original way???
Regards,
Naveen
Was not aware that the scroll-bar changes in size when moving over it......via settings though you can change the width and height of it......
Not sure what the registry settings are but it can be easily done using Advanced configuration tools, SK tools, Diamond tweak....whatever you like best....I use them all.......
Hi Frank,
Actually in Mega, when we tap over scrollbar it's width gets increased (the highlighted portion in the attached image gets increased on tap). Advanced Configuration Tool doesn't provide this tweak.
Regards,
Naveen
No that's correct......advanced configuration tools makes it wider by default setting (only).......it's a solution when the widening"" does not work......

restore the "htc black" theme, and you'll see the scrollbar enlarge again!
I'm working on it to have a REAL black theme (why HTC has called it black, if it's brown/orange???)
It's not working even with the HTC Black theme. I've also tried the tweak provided in the Leo forum ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=617400&highlight=scrollbar ). But that too is not working for me
Soft reset first and if not work than hard reset are the other options......back-up your data.....!
Hi Frank,
soft reset doesn't solve purpose. Already Tried. even tried Hardreset it works in starting but after software installation it behaves in same way . I am not sure which software is causing the problem. May be .net framework installation. But removing it leads to non functioning of many software.
Still searching for a solution. Will post if i find anything.
Regards,
Naveen

HD2 Hard to read Quicklink Text

Hi guys, just got my HD2 few days ago,
I haven't modified the rom or anything just applied the following:
Dutty's Taskmanager
DJC Taskbar
Cookie's Home Tab
I don't know how the quicklink or shortcut text looked before but I noticed that the text is not as clear, I mean the white color of the text of homescreen shortcuts is not as clear, I have no problems with reading anywhere else except on the home tab....
The white text is bit hard to read... I don't know if everyone has this problem?... is it normal?... Also is there a way to change the size of the text because I think if I make it like bold text, then it would be much easier to read....
again the Start button text, menu and phone at the bottom (which are quite thick letters) look very fine its just the text of shortcuts and weather temperature...
please let me know if anyone else has similar text that is hard to read..
thanks
is cleartype enabled?
settings tab - menu - all settings - system - screen enable cleartype.

Hi.... I don't see "Screen" icon when I go into system... ?? Which option are you talking about?
Please clarify
Thanks
p.s. this issue is the same as one discussed recently about pixelated home tab...
I am using stock rom with Cookie's Home tab....
If anyone knows about any .cab files that can be installed to solve this problem, please let me know.. .thank you.. again the problem is hard to read quick link text and weather text below the clock on the home screen (when I say hard to read It is somewhat blurry but readable.. this is not a serious issue but it doesn't look very good on the huge screen of HD2) any help will be appreciated thanks....

seems teh screen settings are hidden by default in some roms.
With a registry editor, browse to
HKLM/controlpanel/pen and change the value of 'Hide' from 1 to 0.
Soft reset, then go settings tab - menu - all settings - system and you should see screen settings icon.

You are a life safer! it makes such a huge difference I can't believe it wasnt on by default! amazing!!!! thanks thanks thanks!

Nice, this should go in the tweak list!
While I agree that ClearType makes a huge difference, I second the request to make quicklinks text in Cookie's Home Tab larger or adjustable. ClearType or not, it is quite hard to read as of now.

[SOLVED] Distorted Menu In Email

I would like to know what would cause a distorted menu while trying to choose to have my email listed in order of when it was "Received" instead of "Conversation"? It use to work fine, but I have made changes to my kitchen and obviously I did something thats causing the menu to be distorted which is shown in the screenshot I provided. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
That's probably because you messed with the reg entries in the Menu Enhancement package. Namely, the size settings to resize the menus. Take all those settings back to stock and your menu will look normal again.

Thanks NRG. You were right. It was a Smaller Menu tweak I got from the Sense 2.5.2016 VGA Port thread.

You have to get the correct settings that are (almost exactly) developed for the version of menu enhancement you're using, otherwise you get that problem. Cookiemonster has a couple of threads with smaller menu cabs floating around if you want to keep that mod..

[Q] Questions... Various Mods/Tweaks/Help Needed

Ok, I have a few questions that should have easy solutions that I just can't find... probably because what I'm looking for is pretty specific. Hopefully I can get answers to at least a few of them. I will start out by saying that I am currently running the Energy Reference ROM on a Touch Pro 2 (with plenty of RAM I might add). As I find solutions, I will post them below under the "Resolved" section, just in case someone else needs help as well.
Questions:
----- How do you change the color/skin of the stock dialer? The only one that I found searching was the "dusk" dialer... I'm looking for something that I can change the color of some of the buttons (to blue or something)... someone has to have a CAB with a bunch of different colors???
Resolved:
----- First... how do you change the panel backgrounds in SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5? I'm not looking to add widgets... not looking to change the background of the Today screen (already have done that)... I'm looking to change the background of the panels ONLY. Without changing the layout of anything. Just the panels. I have tried a few programs/skins (Vostradamus, etc.)... and I just can't figure out how to do this simple thing with them. So I'm hoping there's an easier way (registry edit, setting that I'm just not seeing, etc.).
Fix: ----- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4766529&postcount=730 (make SURE to use WinZip, NOT WinRar or anything else)
----- Second, for some reason, I can't see the settings of "Smartlock" in the SPB settings view (as in, if I go through SPB Mobile to get to "Settings", Smartlock isn't there). However, Smartlock is visible when I switch over to the "stock" Start Menu. So is there any way for Smartlock to appear in the SPB Mobile "Settings" tab? It's pretty weird that it isn't there (ALL of the other programs/settings functions show up, but not Smartlock).
Fix: ----- This fixed itself after a clean reinstall of SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5.
----- Is it possible to keep all the "stock" icons up on top of the screen and add the clock display?
(I currently have the "data" icon, "signal strength" icon, "phone volume" icon, and "battery" icon... with room for the "X"/"OK" icon when a program is running)
I am looking to keep all of those icons while adding the clock display. Don't know if it's possible, but I thought I would ask.
IF it is possible to put the clock up there, would this be compatible with "Brian's Taskbar" to make the icons colorful? I don't have it on there yet, but I'm just wondering for future reference.
Fix: ----- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612083 (Battclock program... I'm still trying to figure out how to perfect it though). Doesn't appear to be very compatible if you have multiple backgrounds/different screens... but it'll work on at least one of the screens.
----- In the "stock" contacts, there are a few different "filters" (viewed via the menu button). To avoid duplication, I would like to have it always set to "Device Conacts", rather than "All Contacts" ("All Contacts contains SIM and device... which results in duplication). You can change it temporarily but selecting "Device Contacts", but when you re-enter it, it automatically switches back. If anyone knows of a way to permanently/by default choose "Device Contacts", that would be what I'm looking for.
Fix: ----- Registry edit... HKCU/Control Panel/Phone/ShowSim (change from 1 to 0, and they will be gone).
I can help with "third"... look at battclock. It is completely customizable and completely great. Alternatively, there is an option in the settings to display just a clock instead of battery meter in the task bar.
For the "first", try this post from the tips and tricks thread (may need to back out and read some surrounding posts to get a better idea)

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm looking into the Battclock program, so I will update when I figure that out.
Thanks for showing me that thread for the "first" issue... that led me to the link that I posted in my first post, which is for 3.5.5 (I'm sure they're both the same... but the link I posted makes it pretty easy to understand I think).
Still looking for a solution for the color of the dialer/dialpad. I think I'm just going to have to either delete all of the SIM contacts and same them on my computer (to upload later when I switch phones or whatever).
