How do you make registry changes take effect without a soft reset

I am trying to change some registry settings to do things such as 'adjust volume settings' 'adjust backlight settings' 'turn bluetooth on and off' etc etc.
I want to use mort script to make the changes but so far I haven't figured out how to make the changes take effect without a soft reset, even when making the changes with a registry editor.
Does anyone know how to do this so that the changes take effect immediately?
Any help appreciated.
two things:
1st: all of the things you mentioned above should work without a reset. the best thing to do is change the reg value manully and if it works with out a reset then you know the problem is in the mort script
2nd: If you know how to edit xml files then download this cab and edit the xml file how you want. this should help some
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RG6JZC33
this has a lot of apps in it you will be looking for the one that says tweaks
Thanks for the info irus,
Like I said, using a registry editor to change the settings does not take effect until I soft reset.
For example (and i'd appreciate it if someone could test this on their phone) changing the values in HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume...."Volume" and "Ringer" to 0 assuming it is not already set to silent does not actually turn the phone to silent until I soft reset.
Could someone please check this for me and report back.
BTW I'm using a Trinity (HTC P3600) with AX3L's LITE ROM.
Thanks in advance.
I tried it and it did not work, you sould try to edit the xml file in the program i told you about and try it there. when i get done with homework i will try it my self
Registry value is read by windows while loading. In case of desktop pc if you restart the explorer process the registry gets loaded. you need to find some way to load the registry again.

password problem!

i've tried to put a password on my 6.1 rom, and, i've reset it, and when i put the password, won't work. good. i've har reset it, still ntothing. i've installed again the rom still same problem. what can i do?
This screenshot is after a new update of rom:
have you done the no,yes, yes in the boot options once you have flashed the new rom ?
I read somewhere that if you forgot your password you could just clear the registry (no,yes,no) and it will remove the password.
where exactly to do that with no yes? after update appear alignament screen, and clock setting.

It is for performing the choosen operations, something like save and exit, or more like apply settings or something like this

Annoying Problem with removing programs (google navigator)

I have a problem that is completely driving me crazy....whenever i remove any program on my xperia ....there is always some files remaining in the program files, and being a perfectionist i always try to delete them, but get an error reporting that the file is in use, which annoys me even more because it means some process is still running
p.s up till now this happened with google navigator, and a tweak tool i downloaded from here before....plz help me , don't want to hard reset every time i want to uninstall a program !
why is it o body want's to help me ??
a) have you thought other people might have a reallife(tm) and not be on here 24hrs 7days per week ?
you asked less than 4hours before you post moaning?
b) this is not a support forum
c) you need to give more information
how did you install the programs?
how did you remove the programs?
what files are left?
have you soft reset after uninstalling the progs?
what software are you using to see the folders?
if you have files that are in use you need to soft reset.
I humbly ask sorry.....
Well to view the folders i use the normal file explorer....i did a soft reset but still on deleting the program folder it tells me it is in use....tried installin and uninstalling again google navigator (trial) but nothing, it also gives me an error on start up telling me the process could not be launched....is this normal.....
P.S: again i ask sorry for stressing so much to get a reply
i had the same problem. to solve it, use file explorer and go to: My Device-Windows-Startup, from there delete the file which have Agent written (something like GAgent, i forgot). After deleting it, restart (soft reset).
Then use file explorer to delete the google navigator folder
ok i deleted gagent and this solved the problem....bu there is another file....i don't remember its name precisely i guess sth like "GNagent" ....should i delete this one ... I tried to but i cannot .....and i accidently renamed it ....can you tell me its correct name ?, cause i'm afraid it's a system file :s

That's not a system file.
Also find, download, install and use total commander, there's either lots of cabs onthis forum for it, or search for the manufacturers website.
It's a Free file manager that's much better than the built in one. It allows you to overwrite files in rom amongst other things. It may well delete the file for you.
Total Commander would help at deletting softwares? that could be nice, for example, I installed the mtoday, and, I am not able to uninstal it...I do understand waht is a hard reset, but the soft one, sorry, this is still not very clear for me...If I would guess, would we need to make a soft reset, each time, we uninstall a software? does would help to clean after?
thanks you

soft reset is when you stick the stylus in the whole in the back, or turn the device completely off and on again.
If there's processes still in use on the phone then a soft reset will stop them being used, (unless they are set to start-up again automatically)
for example, if you install a dialler skin then want to get rid of it. After uninstalling you'll need to soft reset to make sure the dialler is not locking the files so they can be deleted.

i have a problem.....

hi all
recently i installed the S2U2 app ,i used it for a while and earlier today i uninstalled it
the problem is that now pressing the red (hung up) button doesnt lock the device
i suppose something must be don in the registry but i dont know what.....
HELP ME PLEASE
Hi there
Have you tried a soft reset?
If yes it might be a good idea to do a hard reset but make sure you back up all your info.
There is a .cab on s2u2 offical website to restore wm6.5 lock screen and if you can't find it try to google RestoreWM65DeviceLock.cab file and install it.
That will solve your problem. No need to change registry settings.

The problem is not of cookies home tab
Is There a Solution?
hai
the lockscreen u have now was the standard lockscreen for winmo 6.1 and earlier...
just install another new lockscreen will fix it, if u search u will find the standard wm 6.5 lockscreen too around here
EDIT: btw, the problem is because the lockscreen u installed has overwritten the original lockscreen files. when u uninstall the lockscren files then, u will loose the whole lockscreen and it will set it back to the standard one from 6.1...
i didnt mean that the problem is caused by cht..
i mean, that the problem could be solved by cht, cause it includes 3 different lockscreens.

I tried many have failed any way

as much as i know the cht lockscreen lies over the system lockscreen.. thats why u have to disable the system lockscreen first before enabling cht lockscreen or u have a double lock^.^ probably this changed with the last version of cht, not using sense anymore >.<!
to the OP:
search a default lockscreen cab on the forums, i bet u find something, this will fix ur problem i think
EDIT: did the work for u go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678628 and download the "original lockscreen", install it and tell us again if it worked
what was the name of the locksreen you installed/didn't like/uninstalled?

that should have solved the problem Oo
how did u delete the other lockscreen? deinstalled it or just deleted?
probably install it again, just to see if thats working
Installation is naturally been the deletion of the application to delete programs
Then it became a problem was to reinstall the program itself did not solve the problem
maybe try starting from the very beginning, in step-by-step manner:
1. Install the Livven Lockscreen
2. soft reset
3. Uninstall the Livven Lockscreen
4. soft reset
5. install the original locksreen
6. soft reset
if this does not work I'm out of ideas :-(

,
I feel your pain, good luck,
to avoid such misfortune in the future, consider investing in good backup app (SPB, Sprite or Resco Backup), it's much easier and faster way to restore the whole system when something goes wrong
