not only that, but this is more PS3 related then android in anyway...if you read ANY of the legal docs you would know all of geohots computers/equipment was confiscated during the trial, and i doubt that he would go out buy a pc just so he could crack the bootloader, AND not only that, he said the REASON he bought the x10 was to get a feel for the security so he could crack the play. BUT since the play's bootloader should already be unlocked it really doesnt matter.

How am I not related to Sony Ericsson? I have an X10, among other Sony products.
You are the one who went completely off topic, and turned them dropping the charges to pissing on their own customers.
This action by Sony is the third step in recent weeks to right their former mistakes. Whether the GEOhot decision is directly related to the bootloader opening or the gingerbread update remains to be seen, but they most certainly are not pissing on their customers. It is actually quite the opposite.
For someone who brags about an IQ of 170, you really seem to be illogical and immature.

It's impressive how threads go from Zero to Trolling in less than 5 posts.
Sony is trying to do some PR damage control. Sony HAS to do something about the hack because it's a public company and answers to stockholders. It really is that simple. No one in this story has to be evil. No one in this story needs to brag about an IQ of 170.
The fact that suing the hacker in no way prevents further hacking of the PS3 was an oversight that Sony's top management forgot to consider when they panicked. But they needed to react in SOME way.
I agree: suing a kid for meddling with proprietary software was not the smartest way to prevent further hacking. Sony seems to have patched the security flaw with the latest firmware and has let every other GeoHot wannabe that there WILL be repercussions if they try to **** with their console security again.

You're in Singapore, what do you care? I think this patent war could indeed become a problem if something like this happens. Obviously, people will be screwed, because they will be left with a choice between lousy and expensive iPhones(new one every year, yay!), honestly *crappy* Blackberries, and what... Symbian?.. Get out of here!! While I'm guessing this will be resolved by a few million greenies going from the bank account of company A to the bank account of company B, I dare not predict what would happen, if a judge actually rules for Apple's plea.. That would cause some serious sh*tstorm on the market, and towards that judge, and also in my opinion, it's a clear attempt at unfair competition from Apple.

Say what you will about Apple but the world has lost a man who knew his tech and how to make some quality business decisions, my thoughts are with his family as well, it's tough losing a loved one. He was actually a marketing genius. I've said it before: He could take a pile of dog [email protected] polish it up, repackage it, and not only sell it, but make millions of ppl want to buy it. By far the best marketing guy in decades!
Not really relevant here in the Android forum, no, but he was very influential to the tech world and as much as I dislike Apple its sad news. Competition is always good for innovation, and he was the most competitive.

Actually, Wozniak hasn't been an employee in any normal sense at Apple for a long time. He does hold a significant number of shares of course.

I can generalize because most of these outsourced employees have a language barrier or are either stupid so they don't understand anything. I've come across many employees like this while on technical support and it just gets plain irritating. I'm not trying to be racist and am not an individual who claims immigrants take American's jobs. Just stating it like it is.
Now tell me you haven't come across at least 5 stupid technical supporters... Are you going to say, "they outsourced the wrong person", everytime?
