When Im listening to my Pandora internet radio from my G1 in the car, the worst thing I hate is when someone calls me! It stops the music, and sometimes it will start back up right after the call ends, but sometimes it hangs and doesn't want to reload, and I hate being interrupted in the middle of a good song, is there anyway an app can be created that you can turn on (preferably with a widget) that sends everybody's call to the voicemail? Then when im done with the internet radio, I can turn calls back on? I know that it can be done by using call forwarding from settings, but that's too much, I just want a one click app that can do it right away, besides Im on a month to month plan right now (called Flexpay with T-mobile) and call forwarding doesn't work with it.
if one already exists please share...thanks.

That would turn off all wireless connection and kill his internet radio..
Well its quite simple to come up with a convenient way to forward the calls straight to VM and deactivate that mode after you are done listening to Pandora.
Tmobile has a series of star and pound codes that allow quick configuration of call forwarding/cancelling call forwarding. You could use the shortcuts to create a one click dial for two different numbers. One to enable the mode "Straight to VM" and one to disable this mode.
This may not be what you are looking for but is definitely an easier way to help you out.
This is your activating number if you are using Tmobile VM system:
**21*18056377249# (Note some may provide the same number except with a "3" where the "9" is at the end, they both should work)
This is your deactivating number:
## 21#
***SORRY! I did not realize you were Flexpay until just now. This would only work for Postpaid accounts. Tmobile just recently started the ability of letting Flexpay customers convert their accounts into postpaid. Your account may or may not qualify to do this and there is no extra charge of course to convert. Contact customer care to check and see if you would be eligible.
Hope this helps.

Call Blocker - Free - you might here it ring once but after it sends the calls directly to voicemail.
set the option to Block Phone numbers or something like that.

Only problem if it rings once first is that would stop the music for the OP. But thanks I didn't know there was an app like this!

this will do right here my friend, Thank's so much!!! gosh...how come I couldn't find this, I been surfing the market back to front, oh well, I knew someone would come through.
Edit: only allows wifi, can't get my edge/2g/3g services,....but ah well that'll do for now, I've found that Pandora loads much quicker on wifi anyway, with my extended battery I can run wifi all day, only thing is Im constantly connecting to the closest signals in range, anyway I could set up unlimited wifi access with T-mobile?

i know im not the only person that keeps missing calls, i have alot of friends call me and they say the calls go through but im dont recieve them, 4 calls and out of 4 i recieve prolly 2....is there a fix for this? or its a windows problem or is it sprints mogul problem?
yeah i have the same problem, but i think it's because of the way i have it configured with a bunch of little bells and whistles
I believe if you call your Mobile Wireless Provider and ask them the change the number of rings before going to Voicemail ie, instead 3 rings to 5 rings you may catch more of your phone calls altho it doesn't speed up your phone but give your phone more time to turn on and ring.
or you can change it yourself

I dont think you can. I assume what he is talking about is the time it takes the cellular system to decide your phone is not on the network and roll it to vm.
so i just noticed this today (i have the leaked ROM installed) that when i am using the web or checking my email if someone calls they go straight to my voice mail -- i haven't had the phone long enough to know if this is how it is supposed to be or not. Is there a way to get to cancel the data connection and show me someone is calling?

well i read through that and tried what they mentioned but i couldn't get it to drop the data when a call came in.
btw, i'm on Sprint, and no EVDO where i am at so only 1x.
but as i mention in the thread
"i believe that all issues with cellphone internet blocking or being disabled when one recieve a call is purely an issue
with old and poor quality equipment of the cellphone operator in the area"
many old gsm and aparently american cellphone networks too
suffer from not being able to handle both network and calls at the same time
it's an issue in the operator end not the phones
yeah after three emails with sprint (i think most of their CS people are brain dead) they finally told me that it is how it works, no way around it.
one told me that calls go to voice mail when you don't have enough signal -- totally irrelevent to this issue
one told me it was a technical problem with my phone and said i should bring it to a sprint store to get a tech to look at it
and finally after *****ed at them sayint that people (that i assume) don't work for sprint know more about this (thanks Rudegar for your responces) then they do, they finally just came out and said that, yeah this is how it is and there isn't anyway around it.
it seems that this is a better place to get answers then emailing sprint --- although i should have realized that from the beginning, i won't make that mistake again.
well i guess your question has been answered, but figure id add my 2 cents...
it works like this only in EV-DO areas not on 1x....
my ring through works perfectly fine when a call or text comes in, it discconects allows me to do what i want, then it automatically reconnects back to data..
Is there any chance the Skype mobile apk file could be modified to work on T-Mo network?
Of course this thread might get the easy answers such as:
1) "No"
2) "It cant be done"
3) "It checks verizon's network?"
... but I'd be happier to hear from experts that know how it actually works/could be done.
Verizon skype apk: http://www.sendspace.com/file/rnwab1
No. It cant be done. It checks verizon's network.
Ok, helpful now... There's no need for Skype mobile.
Using it to call normal phone numbers uses minutes. The only free part is using it to call other Skype numbers. And you can already use Fring or Sipdroid from the Market to do this (AND do VoIP calls to normal numbers), so the Skype mobile app for Verizon is pretty much just crap.

Yeah your right it is pretty crappy that Skype put those restrictions on it by sleeping with the enemy (Big Red).
I was just going to see if it could work on T-Mo though because then I could get my family members to use it as well and make good quality voip calls like I could on the iPhone version.
SIPdroid is dear to my heart but the quality on outbound calls is pretty unusable for me, inbound is still good though. I tell all my friends that "if you get a call from me, dont pick up and just call me back."
Fring 3g quality was serviceable before but it was laggy (I would say something and the other person would start talking and then mid sentence would hear what I said and it would mess up the conversation). It probably has had some updates though so I will try it out again.
dunno if this helps but i read somewhere today that vonage is coming to tmobile and att with calls over wifi capability.
3 has got this for a long time now (no Android client yet) but the acctual calling is routed using a gsm center, no VOIP at all. I have installed the apk for t-mobile and it almost does the same thing ( it doesn't work outside tm network)

Thanks for the info you guys! I've made 3 calls over WiFi with Vonage app and the customer service reps say I sound crystal clear
Now for the real challenge boys... Since Vonage can make free domestic calls over wifi. How do we trick the N1, like on jailbroken iPhone's, into thinking its on wifi even if its on 3g?
Edit: The wifi calling is 100% free, dont add any money even if the app asks you for it (just press the back button to get rid of the prompt)

How do you KNOW it was making calls over wifi?
I just signed up and installed it, and no matter what I do, it always calls from my normal phone number, rather than my Google Voice number, which is what I chose during the sign up process.
Also, turning Airplane mode on and then turning Wifi on doesn't let me make any calls. It says disable airplane mode.
Is there a way to KNOW 100% whether the call is being routed over wifi or normal phone?

On my end I can guarantee that its making the calls through WiFi because of the data only plan I am on. T-Mo has two different types of $40/mo data plans:
1) $40/mo with T-mo hotspot access but cannot make ANY calls (except 911)
2) $40/mo without T-mo hotspot access but can make calls for $.10/min
I have the first option and if I try to make a regular call it says "the service you are attempting to use has been restricted or unavailable" and hangs up. Even if I try to make a call through GVoice it says the same thing so I know I cant make any cellular calls. But I can make a call through the Vonage app with WiFi (although I do have to have on Edge/3g with the WiFi your right).
I just checked my T-Mobile account as well and I dont see any minutes used either.
Now if only we can get this thing to think its on WiFi even if only on 3g!

When I set GV to not call intercept, it will just call using my normal phone number. Vonage just sits there doing nothing.
A few times the Vonage dialer has popped up (if I had GV set to make ALL calls), but then Vonage crashed (Force Close).
Bleh, must be an issue with the Desire caller =\
Fring is flawless with skype dumb easy to setup for idiots like myself
I use it w/o a simcard in my g1 and keep my sim in the n1

In Japan, phones can play a msg and record voicemail in the phone itself, so you don't have to dial some server somewhere to retrieve voicemail and pay carrier costs. Is there anything like that for WM?
emananji desuka?
That's more of a carrier service.....not something u can install.
that's the point. You install software so you don't use a carrier service. It can't be hard, accept a call, stream to a .wav
but too many are happy to pay the carrier fees I guess...

Because from what i've seen of such services, it's integrated from the carrier itself into whichever handsets it chooses too. You can't do it via 3rd party add ons unless the carrier itself chooses to open their requirements to do so.
It appears to be easy, but unless you know how to reverse engineer the method the carrier uses, good luck. Besides, who's to know when the carrier will just change a simple spec to disable it once they catch on? It's an endless race.
it's not a spec, it's the phone accepting a call - it's capable of doing that. you already have a setting to auto accept after X rings.
then it's saving to a file, there are sound recorder programs in WM already. If it can play the sound via the speaker, it can save the file.
there is nothing to do with the carrier itself. the carrier sees your phone accepting a call, that's it.
You can use phone fusion plus.
http://phonefusion.com/
I used it for a while but T-mobile USA has one built in now so I've switched back. It's not exactly what your describing but it's close. It bypasses the carriers voice mail and stores the file on their server. The only thing you need to pay for is a text message and data to download. If you want to bypass thoes charges I can't help.
I would like this function too, not so much for my current phone, more for my Diamond where I have a pay as you go card with no credit. I simply use it for receiving calls in the house as my Virgin phone doesn't get a very good signal but I often get voicemail messages that I can't listen to.
Obviously if the phone is switched off or out of signal the call will be redirected to the carrier voicemail but if the phone is able to receive the call I would have thought it would be able to accept the call, play a message that I record on my device to the caller and then record what they say until the call disconnects. Maybe we're starting to get into the realms of the In Call Recorder that seems to be problematic.
Terrific idea.
Never thought of it.
I'd suggest you google for it.
Found something like iSecretary for instance, haven't tried it though.
You do realize that you should keep your standard provider voicemail in case your phone is out of reach?
Goodluck and let us know if you've found something useful.
Don't know if this was mentioned but the integrated internet calling+Gizmo5+GVoice Callback app works great! will test some more but looks like sipdroid is now obsolete. Hopefully Google will integrate callback into the google voice app to make it more seamless.
sipdroid and other similar apps were bound to become obsolete as Google moves forward implementing their desktop internet calling features.
Honestly, IMO, they are lagging behind. I still don't understand why Google hasn't fully integrated gmail calling into Android as it has all the means to do so.
Let's hope we don't have to wait till 3.0 for that feature....I have horrible reception at my work (old NYC concrete building that nothing seems to be able to penetrate...even Verizon's CDMA) I would love o be able to default to wifi calling when at work.
Excellent news. Sipdroid worked, but it was hardly elegant and often drained the battery like made.
Looking forward to the sip features of 2.3

Most likely? They're afraid of pissing off the carriers. Same reason why SIP is only usable in WiFi in 2.3 (Though you can bet dollars to beans that it'll be usable in 3G once someone pokes the code in custom ROMs)

it would even crash the phone application from time to time when receiving incoming calls via gsm
CSIPSimple caused many problems on my end as well, but Sipdroid has been working fine for quite a while in my case.
Hopefully CyanogenMod will include 3G (and 2G...) calling right from the beginning, seems like a no-brainer.

Wondering the same thing. With all the AOSP roms around I would have thought this would have been one of the first things added.
Sipdroid will stay with me for now.
When I setup my GB 2.3 internet wifi with Gizmo and Google call back (as I don’t have free out going minutes), I had to wait for the call back (to ring back) to connect my call.
With sipdroid , the call will go thru as normal without delay.
i wish there was an option to ignore cell calls when a SIP incoming call is coming in at the same time.
The reason I want this is becasue when someone calls my Google Voice number it rings my cell number and my SIP number, I then get 2 calls on my phone and its annoying and sometimes messes up the call

You can use the Google Voice Settings Locale plugin (I can't remember the exact name, sorry) with either Locale or Tasker to automatically toggle which number GVoice will ring based on your wifi connection state.
