The RUU police didn't get here in time for this one...
You'll have to wait for a 2.1 exploit to be discovered.

I think we should just post this in these topics

thanks, it's alright though, 2.1 is great. The only things i wish it had were lwp and friendstream, but i can cope. I guess i'll just wait.
So you have 2.1 RUU ? Then you cannot root.
haha yeah i bit the dust,
i don't think i'm missing out on that much seeing as i tried rooting before and it never worked

hrm a new user must have posted and then deleted.
i did try to use the kitchen, it would get up to the point where it would go into recovery mode then just stay stuck at the HTC logo recovery screen, also when i was doing it it says pre-kitchen has identified that you are not running a stock sprint rom, even though i was completely stock 1.5.
Does anyone have a stock Nandroid of 2.1 or 2.1-update? I tried to SBF but it gets denied everytime. I've asked for solutions also on why this might be occuring but have got no answer. I followed the directions for Linux which arent to difficult being that I dont need install drivers or RSD. Thanks
denied how? what is the exact error?
here is a link to what you want!

It just says -./bash sbf denied something like that.
I have a nandroid. Im not sure if it will work, but ill upload it somewhere for you when I get home.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
You can't do this. The phone won't boot and you will have to use the sbf anyways.
Edit: Sorry I misunderstood OP. I thought it meant Nandroid of 2.1 from 2.2 to downgrade rather than sbf.
I was able to flash 2.2 by using a 2.1 stock update I got from alldroid or phandroid I cant remember. Was having issues until I reinstalled the sticky note widget that was stopping the update and pushed the stock framework back. So Im guessing it wasnt completely stock. Still would be nice to have a completely stock nandroid 2.1 update
ii want to unroot my htc wildfire. I want to unroot it using a Debranded RUU.
however, when i try using an unbranded RUU i recieve an error
ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR
my phone was originally on 3g.
is thier a way i can unroot the device and have it debranded?
thnks
What version of Android has it got? Also use Unrevoked 3 first!
Its currently Rooted and has a custom rom on it 2.2.1.
i thought you have to revoke it when you want to root the phone?

Oops! Misread your question, thought you said root not unroot!
Do you know what radio it had originally? You should be able to find one on the shipped ROMS site.
Sorry
EDIT: By the way, did you make a goldcard? Did it decline it?
i dont remember what radio it had on thier. However, i updated the radio from a link i seen on the Wildpuzzle rom thread.
it oringnally had 3 software on there.
i want to unroot it with debranded firmware.
ive tried this
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.3
1_release_142189_signed.exe...
and im recieving the error mentioned above
thnk
I assume you have looked here? http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
Hi, yes thats were i downloaded the firmware.
but im recieving errors when using the update
Do you want Froyo? If you do then this "should" work. HERE
You will NOT be able to re-root on that ROM.
Or if you don't want it then try this Eclair ROM HERE
Give them a try and tell me what happens!
Hope that helps you
Hi, i want to reroot in the future so i wont go for the froyo update.
just to be sure, if i update using the eclair update will i be able to still root in the future?
im still recieving the same error it goes all the way to writing signiture and then just shows the error.

Really sorry, I don't know what it is if that didn't work
I'm assuming the 3 you're on is 3UK? You could try to install it as a gold card if you know how.
EDIT: Here's how to create one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683
I just succesfully unrooted the device. After making a Goldcard. djdevine2 your help was much appreciated.
Thanks

You're welcome. I'm still learning too!
For everyone who's been wondering and asking,
As of right now there is NO WAY to root your phone if you accepted the 2.3 Gingerbread OTA update and there is no way to revert back to 2.2.
For all the people who have accepted it, you are stuck with a non-rootable phone until a dev can produce a new root method.
With that being said, temp-root is also NOT available.
Also, flashing anything like a different ROM or a new kernel is NOT possible at this time.
If you accidentally updated or just got the phone from Sprint, you are out of luck for now.
thanks for the info. i have been waiting to update because i suspected as much. For all those that updated to 2.3, is it awesome????

How long did it take for 2.2 to be rooted? Hopefully 2.3 should take the same amount of time/less time.

Any more of an explanation than that? ...like the error message you get?
People had to RUU back to an older version of Froyo when the latest update plugged up what was the latest root exploit, and that old RUU always worked without a problem. It would be a shame if HTC/Sprint didn't "allow" people to revert back to the older OS.
I think the error code was error 170 when running the RUU, but I have tried all the ways just like everyone else and none of them work.

FOREVER!!!! At least it felt that way. More people should have the phone now so shouldn't be too long.

I would guess that booting into the bootloader to load the old Froyo RUU would still work. I always thought the RUU was looking for the proper phone, regardless of its firmware/OS versions.
Nope, in order for a ruu to run, the phone has to have the same or older hboot

I wish it was that easy because I forgot how much the GPS sucks on sense roms. Got a trip out of town coming up this weekend also, grrrr.

Really? I always thought Sense was great, but AOSP roms sucked at GPS.
Just used the gps in the 2.3 rom and it worked out great. It was a short distance though so might need more testing fyi
I think the GPS on sense (stock at least) tends to take a little longer to lock on, that's all.
Hopefully this gets rooted soon since I've got to send my current phone back in a couple of days, and it wouldn't surprise me if the new one has the update already

So is this "170" error seen in the RUU program or on the phone itself?
Forgive me if I'm way behind the ball on this: The Froyo RUU contains a "rom.zip" that looks like it could simply be renamed to PG06IMG.zip and flashed from the bootloader.

I don't know bout that error but when I tried twice to ruu my wife's phoneI think the error was 104 bootloader not new enuff something like that.
Well when you run the RUU it goes through all the motions like its going to be successful. Then it reboots into the bootloader and you get the all black HTC screen on your phone while its updating. The RUU on your pc screen is at the part where it says updating your rom image may take 10 minutes etc. Then you get the error [140] Bootloader version error. "The rom update utility cannot update your Android phone, please get the correct ROM update utility and try again."The error [170] is when it doesnt find your phone connected to the usb.
This should be done uploading in about 3 minutes. Rename to PG06IMG.zip, place it in the root of your SD card, and boot up in the bootloader. If it doesn't work, I'll have another to try tomorrow.
BACK UP YOUR DATA/APPS/CONTACTS FIRST (I recommend using Titanium Backup, SMS Backup & Restore, and Call Logs Backup & Restore... and you should be syncing your contacts to a google account)
http://www.4shared.com/file/ADnrxUXB/Stock-Froyo-ROM-1176511.html
I'll give it a try now
Edit: Nope, that doesn't work.
great.
i guess i am stuck with this buggy 2.3 rom until a root solution is found and i can get this crappy rom off my phone. i am tired of the apps not working. locking up & same with the OS.
do the world a favor and steer clear of the RUU 2.3 rom. dont be stuck like the rest of us with a rom we cant do anything with.

Yeah, you won't be able to go back . However, for your general connection issue, I experienced the same thing, downloading HTC Sync worked for me.
I don't know if I'm missing something, but are you still s-off? Do you have a custom recovery like Clockwork or Amon-Ra?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If you do, you should be able to flash any ROM you want, possibly even downgrade the hboot (which I believe is what's keeping you from using the RUU, not that it matters if you can flash ROMs).
