A Goldcard is an SD memory card with special content. It allows to flash different ROMs than the original if you want.
Please read the specific thread (use the search function) on how to make one. But only if you really need or want one.
The need for a Goldcard was important in the first weeks after HD2 became available. It was only possible to flash another ROM with a Goldcard, but a few weeks later, first SSPL came, then HSPL.
You don´t have to MTTY your device, but it can be recommendable. Many people instead flash an official ROM between different custom ROMs.
After installing HSPL, you can flash any ROM you like - some of them come with a Radio ROM, some not (please read each ROM thread carefully). Watch out for 2.xx ROMs - do NOT, definitely NOT flash them with the SD card method. As an option, you could flash using SSPL (not for Radio ROMs though) - or a Goldcard (not many people do this these days).
For more detailed information, please read this tutorial, and/or watch some videos here.
And for the next time, please try using the search function and check the stickies in each forum first - you will find key information everywhere.

i would highly recommend this software. its money well spent.
i forgot to tell u that using hspl on ur phone voids the warranty
... but i need warranty :/
so what about uspl ? is it different?
The difference between USPL and HSPL:
* HSPL is an user-modified SPL that you have to flash to your phone. It overwrites the existing SPL on your device with a "hacked" one so to say. It allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone. You only have to flash it once and then you can flash roms anytime.
* USPL is a temporary solution. It takes advantage of an exploit in the existing SPL and then loads a modified one to memory, effectively allowing the same thing as HSPL. However, since this is only memory-resident you have to do it each time you want to flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone, because this exploited state is lost upon reboot. With USPL you must still have the right version of the HTC SPL that is compatible with the rom you want to use.
yes i read this somewhere, but what about warranty?
yes i read this somewhere, but what about warranty?
// or when i do HSPL can i get my original HSPL oe wah ever to take my warranty back?
////now i read that it is possible
if u see this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217

dude, simply dont panic ! i faced some thing similar but now i feel like a pro when it comes to flashing new ROMs. This forum is Great !
Well..ok let me come to the point, that is make sure u have HSPL.(Read the thread in Rom Development forum). Now simply connet ur device to ur comp/laptop and use active sync. make sure ur device is set on active sync. Now simply have ur New ROm ready to flash/install on ur device by doubble clicking the RRU_signed.exe(something of this sort, cooks keep it any name they wish to but its an .exe file for sure be it any name.) and follow the on screen instructions that u get. and there u go ! have ur device back again with ROM of choice.
Important Info:
1] u can download any ROm of ur choice from the rom development forum here on xda.
2] make sure u hard reset ur device after flashing the new rom.
3] Dont forget to backup ur data (for noobs.)
4] Go through the Rom Development forum for some great tutorials and guidance.
Hope this helps. n Congo for ur new device !
Good luck !

Well you got most of that right. But it is very important that new users understand that if you flash from a factory ship ROM such as 1.48 or 1.66 and you try to flash one of the newer cooked ROM's based on 2.07 or above Base it will freeze at the HTC screen if you don't upgrade the Radio first. 2.07 and above need the TMOUS radio 2.07.50 or 2.08.50.08.02 etc or it will not work.
Just a suggestion, and this is not directed at anyone here....
I wish there were some way to make it a "rule" that posters not assign their issue directly to any particular ROM, since 99.999% of the time, it is not the fault of the ROM, but the user him/herself.
Postings may give users a bad impression of a particular ROM, or the flashing process in general, when in reality, it is an easy process once it is understood.
I'm running OzROM, for example, and I never had any issues with it, because I understood these things by reading extensively beforehand....and trying.
I never assumed that any of my previous difficulties were the fault of any particular ROM, but rather something that I was not doing correctly. I have found that this is invariably the case, and I just do not want any Chef to get a bad rap because of user error, or for someone to think that flashing a cooked ROM will destroy their phone, or something like that.
Just my 2 cents. Hope we can address this as a community somehow.

I agree that comments should be kept in the ROM thread. But considering this was the guys first post, well you know. This happens all the time.
I'm currently on WWE 1.66. I don't own a T-mobile HD2!
Do I need those HSPL/SPL stuff????
I downloaded Tmous rom 2.10 and tried to flash with RUU and I get error 260.
Thanks for your answers.
Better do a lot more reading of the sticky threads and wiki on flashing a HD2 before you have another attempt at it, or you are going to give yourself the present of an expensive paperweight.
as fireman999 said. read.
look here

I read already stickies... but don't know where to start, so many topics :S
Just tell me how to start, what to do.. which topic should I look and so on. Because I'm confused right now.
download hspl2
install it - choose 2.08.hspl
flash your 2.10 rom over usb

Quite why people are so obtuse when it comes to installing a ROM is beyond me. Sam is right, go to the ROM development forum and read the flashing thread it literally WALKS you step by step through the entire process and covers all eventualities. Why people expect XDA to help them when they can't be bothered to read even as far as the stickys is beyond me.
Thanks guys. I got it working!
I just didn't know how to start, because this is "stock" rom but I didn't knew if I had to instal HSPL or not.
Thanks again for helping me
hi. i just bought a tmobile hd2. some of my phones informations is:

protocol 15.39.50.07u
cpu 8250b

ram 576 mb
flash size 1024mb
i've read lots of articles on this site. i suppose i'll need to instal another rom on my phone. i read a lot but i get little confused. i think first i have to instal HardSPL (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614) second i have to flash a radio and i can instal a rom. and on this page (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784) it says i don't need to flash a radio. which means that i just install hardspl and instal this rom... am i right?
can you guys help me what am i suppose to do... and which version of hardspl, radio and rom works well for me?
sory to ask lots of questions but i don't know enough about wm phones ( thanks for guides...
Hi, basic steps are
1. Backup your important data like contacts etc..
2. Its very IMPORTANT that you Flash HardSPL first before flashing any ROM (No worries,it only needs to be done once for you to enjoy subsequent custom ROMs). Version 2.08.HSPL is ok.
3. Browse the threads for a suitable "TMobile HD2 compatible ROM" or visit this link for comfirmed ROMs.
4. Perform a Hard reset after successfully flashing any of the ROMs
5. Enjoy!
i suggest u clear your schedule, get coffee, tea, drink(s) and visit This Link . It contains info and links to all the guides you can possibly need to push you and your device to a higher level. i wouldn't recommend trying android till you are very comfortable with flashing ROMs.
you dont need to worry about the radio just yet, because since you have a tmous phone, it already has a radio that will work with all tmous compatible roms anyway.
Well I'm gonna just say right now I'm not an expert or anything since I'm relatively new too. I'm just trying to help, I would however advise wait for a more experienced person to answer.
First, if you want to flash a ROM follow this guide for the TMOUS HD2's. It goes over how to do it, which ROMs are compatible and all that.
Yes, you do have to get HSPL (except I think there are methods when you don't, though that might just be for the international phones...). But to get HSPL you should probably use this. I don't know if it is the only thing that does it but it, from what I understand, is the most well known. It also keeps you from "bricking" your phone.
From what I understand the only time you have to flash a radio is if the ROM needs it, and the chefs will say if it needs a certain one or list ones that it works with on their ROM page. I think most of them support the radio that comes stock, though don't take my word for it. I would wait for someone else to confirm or re-explain this paragraph because I'm not completely for sure.
As for which ROM is right for you...well only you can answer that. They all are different and different ones have advantages over the others. You just gotta explore a little and see what looks nice. This is the list of ROMs that support the T-Mobile HD2 so stick to it. I don't know how up-to-date it is (meaning I don't know if there are any new ones or not) but stick to those, you can "brick" your phone otherwise.
I would however advise if you're new to WM phones to try out themes first. They are a lot safer and I don't think there is any chance of ruining your phone (the only reason I flashed mine is because I've done it with a different phone before and felt comfortable doing it). Don't do anything you are uncomfortable doing and understand all the risks that go into anything you do to your phone before you do them.
Sorry for the long post, just hope this helps a little.
Edit:
I just got double ninja'd

That's d spirit...You'll be amazed @ what the search function on XDA coughs up...Everything'll go well once u stick to d guides and TMobile compatibie ROMs & Radios.
i picked up this rom (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652649) but there is two options. 1) com5(c5) 2)com2(c2). i don't know what it means... and if want to install one of these roms do i have to flash a radio after installing hspl?
and what is the stock rom?
thanks again...
It looks like COM5 and COM2 are just different versions. COM5 offers more options it looks like though, but I'm not sure. Someone else can probably answer that a lot better than me. I am also unable to answer the radio question. Sorry.
As for stock ROM though, that is the ROM that came already on your HD2 when you got it.

I see u picked out Kumar's ROM...Click Here for a thread on the definitions and differences between COMs...And No, you won't need to flash a radio after installing HSPL or a custom ROM (Unless you are having problems connecting to your network in which case, u need 2 be careful 2 flash a radio known to work with Tmobile HD2).
Stock ROM is the original/default ROM which TMobile shipped with your device. Follow this guide and you can grab the stock ROM from here. The Stock ROM has to be re-flashed to your device if u ever have to return it to Tmobile as flashing a custom ROM voids your warranty. Grab useful links and watch video tutorials here.
Hope dis helps ya.

pls help me.. i want step by step process for flashing the rom. and also tell me which softwares are needed for this process..
thanks in advance....
Hello new here,
There are many guides about how to flash ROMs and stuff. Use the search tool to find those guides. You can also check the stickies, they will help you. I don't think anyone will lay out the process step by step as there are various methods and numerous ways to install ROMs. I suggest you also read the "What is HSPL, cLK MAGLDR" thread (google it) as it will help you understand the HD2 and Android on it.
Good luck.

Or alternatively since you have a TMOUS just completely skip the radio stage and never worry about it.
