As a AAA member for 11 years I just called them regarding this - the discount is on plan add-ons. So for my EMP plus plan it doesn't apply as insurance is my only add on and it doesn't apply to insurance. But, if you have a standard voice plan with a text and data add on it would apply to the text and data add-ons.

I'm not sure what you mean by addons but it should apply to any voice line that is on a contract. So the only restriction is that it doesn't work for Even More Plus plans =\

I just called TMO about this and they said I would have to renew my contracts for my line and my wife's line (Family plan) for two years. Not sure that's worth it for me.

Yeah - for my EMP plan it's only add-ons since the regular plan is already at a "discounted rate". For standard plans under a 2yr contract it should work assuming they aren't already at a discounted rate (as explained by t-mo).

I think I win.
It's "only" 2000 minutes, but I still think I win.

Unlimited Family Messaging for $9.99. I win. =)

Wow...I pay $161/mo for 4 people. 1800 minutes/Unlimited Messaging/Fave 5 [no longer offered]/Two data plans/all phones have insurance. My mother and father-in-law pay me $40/mo each so my wife and myself pay around $80 for our phone service. She has a MyTouch and I have my N1.
I also might mention that I have unlimited messaging for families for $9.99/mo . This usually costs $35/mo. I got it on a promo about 4 years ago.

I just callled and got my AAA discount for my 1000 minute plan, Unlimited text, data, caller tunes, and insurance, 14% off and your bill changes to the 27th.
It can take up to sixty days for the discount to show on you bill.

I have a co-worker that ordered two droids via the Verizon website and he only paid 106 dollars after tax. He took ad vantage of a buy one get one free deal. Buts whats interesting is that they gave him an additional hundred dollars off the price for no known reason. A Total price of 106 and he got two excellent phones.

Project Black - T-Mobile

Anyone hurd about it? Or no what it is? If its 50$ a month for everything unlimited then I am deff going to stay with tmobile. My bill is 105$ for my g1 and that's only 600 anytime mins with unlimited data pack. If that's the case this is really going to be cool!
I hope so. I pay over $180 for my Dream and my girls Sidekick.
I think its going to be something like that, i haven't seen anything announcing an exact price yet but I've seen the documentation that makes it appear this is the idea of it. Should be cool. I don't know how you guys are paying over $100 though unless you got some crazy family plan, I have 1000 anytime, unlimited nights and weekends plus G1 plan and my bill doesnt come to $80 for my G1, my MyTouch is on my dealer line so that's only $20 =)
What's project black?
Not to be an asshole or anything, but I pay $110 for my girlfriend and my Palm Pre's (which we will soon be getting Hero's).
1500 minutes shared, unlimited mobile to mobile, data and text. Plus ~1.5mbps download speeds all over Des Moines.
T-Mobile had horrible coverage and speed out here so I switched, and love Sprint. This is for people on the edge about thinking if they want Sprint or not.
I give you 6 months tops before your kicking yourself for using sprint, have fun paying when your bill gets higher and higher with no explaination.
I have ulimited mins, data, free roaming, messaging for 110 but almost twenty of it is taxes, thank obama for the tax hike. it used to be under 100. I'm on a customer loyalty plan since I been with tmo since '03
50 a month is better than my 89 a month though, ill have to check this out.

Been with Sprint 2 years, and quite the opposite happened. From $150 before, now to $110. In a sense, unlimited minutes as well, i've used 25 minutes of my 1500 due to the new unlimited mobile-mobile.
been with tmob for 7 years now... paying right at 60 for unlimited data/sms/mms/1600 minutes/free nights n weekends.
Hmm seems to me that t-mobile is scamming me then lol. A lot of it has to deal with taxes which sux but its what ever. I changed my plan so its 10$ cheaper lmao. Sux because where I work they had to cut hours big time so now I don't have enough cash to pay my bill so I'm gonna probrally get a late charge. I really hope that project black is what I think because its going to save me a lot of money.
lol not to be a ***** but... Not only did I get a FREE G1 but my plan is only £35 ($57) a month, one of the most expensive UK tarrrifs with 800 Minutes, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Internet. 3G Is pretty much standard in the UK, I don't have HSDPA yet though... unsure weather the G1 supports it =/

Wow. thats a good deal.
Ihave been on EVERY netowork there is in the USA in the past 13 years.
By a FAAAAAAAAR margin, Tmobile is the best I have had. 3mb download/500kb upload anywhere I go, Never 1 dropped call, never an overage....
Sprint, verizon.... I would sometimes get no signal at all. ATT/cingular.... what a joke lol
My bill is $67 a month. I have G1 data/text plan, 300 anytime (i hate talking on the phone. despise it) unlimited night, weekends and my faves. Considering I hate talking on the phone, and when I do I only talk to a few people, the my faves thing saves all my minutes lol.
Woah! You guys pay way too much for your mobiles!
As said before in the UK I pay £30 a month (48 usd) with a free G1 and with £140 of allowance (220 usd) a month to spend on any mix of mins/txts/pic messages and unlimited data (good UMTS/HSDPA where I live too).
How come it is so expensive over there for mobile phone tariffs?!

that's the trend of the US market, for a while now.
Competition for products and commodities raise prices for everyone. Some people think that all 4 major carriers somewhat conspire to keep prices high, but relatively the same on all carrier to milk us customers for all our money.
Is there some kind of middle body to regulate prices? We have Ofcom here and they keep all the telecoms companies in check.
There has recently been a big thing over here with Ofcom saying that we pay too much for our phone services and the mobile networks seem pretty competitive with each other and always driving each others prices down and mobile deals up.
There are some real deals to be had still here with mobiles. My partner is only paying £20 a month for a free Nokia E71 with 200 mins, unlimited txts and unlimited internet which is dirt cheap really!

the prices of tmobile UK certainly does sound good...but! what you get for some things kinda blow.
if you really look at the fine print... tmobile UK unlimited data for android actually has a data cap of 3gb per month
while the data for tmobile US for android has 10gb cap per month.
i can easily use up that 3gb.
with all the browsing, radio streaming, downloading I do from my phone, I can easily blow through 3 or more gigs in a day. thank god for unlimited data
there are other smaller carriers who are cheaper than the big dogs. criket, boost, metro pcs to name a few
I know criket has an unlimited voice and text for $45 (tax included) a month, only thing is they use kyocera, lg and moto. just ugly cheap phones, no good smartphones, but you can flash other cdma smarphones to use on criket. I heard the process is a pain though.
How can anyone pay over $100/month for a single line? My bill is $185/month, and that's with 5 lines on the family plan, 700min shared anytime, unlimited text on all 5 lines, and 2 lines on it have unlimited data.

They don't do anything if you go over 3GB. Its a "Fair Usage Policy". If you were maxing it out and affecting other users (if that's even possible) then they start moaning and try and get you to pay another £5 for the 10GB fair usage policy but in effect they can't actually do anything, they can't cut you off or charge you extra, just ask you to cut down or upgrade (which of course the average customer would feel like they are obliged to).
@phillje123 : Our contracts used to be like the American scheme, fortunately in the early 00's Pay As You Go (Prepay, whatever you want to call it) hit the UK and Europe big time and everyone was purchasing payg phones instead of contracts. This forced the phone companies to dish out free phones and a load of minutes/texts to try and get people to go back to their contract.

like i said....nothing is unlimited.
tmobile US still has their android phones capped off at 10gigs
Blarg, I'd be happy to take American prices. Instead in Canada we get it the worse.
$30 for data, if you're lucky you got it during the 6gig promo deal, if not you get 1gig of data for $30 a month.
Cheapest voice plan is $17.50 which gives you 150 minutes but that is the EPP plan, cheapest advertised plan is $25 a month.
We all get charge S.A.F. 6.95 and 911 $0.50 fee on top of all of our plans.
There is no such thing as free long distance.
We pay for incoming and outgoing minutes
Call display and voice mail are not included in our plans and are $12 extra.
If you're lucky enough you can all retentions and for $65 cdn get, 250 minutes, unlimited after 6pm calling, 100 LD minutes, 1(or 6 if promo is running) gig of data, voice mail, call display, saf/911 fee and unlimited text.
Then our overages on data are: First 60MB overage is $0.50, then remaining overages drop to $0.03 per megabyte. So for the first GB over it'll be a charge of $58.20 to a max of $500.
Oh did I mention all of your phones come with 3 year contracts?
If you're not lucky enough to get in while teh 6gig promo is on, this is what you can expect to pay.

cheaper Nexus One?

So i called tmobile to get the unlock code for the mytouch 3g, as i'm getting my nexus one on monday. I just started asking questions about it and the rep told me somthing interesting. He said the cheapest way to go for the nexus one is to order it through tmobile on a brand new line. Then he said when u get your phone call them and they will just add it to your existing plan(mine being a family plan). Then i would just be paying for a 3rd line for a few months(which is like 10 bucks more a month or somthing like that) and then can just cancel that line. yes you are paying for an unsused line but its a whole lot cheaper than buying the phone for $529. Any thoughts? has anyone done this?
Even if u kept a 3rd line on your account for 2 years thats only 120 more.thats 299 for the phone. still cheaper than 529.

I read earlier that if u did that they would still make u pay full for the phone. or am i wrong here?
actually you are right. you probably do have to let it ride for a few months.
I thought you werent allowd to get it for $179 and add the line to an existing plan. Dont you need to have it as a Even More plan. I guess I dont quite understand how you would get around it?
after reading that line on my contract it says:
"for contracts of one year or more, I may cancel my service without paying a termination fee if I return all phones I acquired with my activation within 14 days from my activation"
hmm not sure but it seems that if you pay ETF you get to keep your phone, correct?
well its just what the tmobile guy told me that he tells everyone. He said u keep the plan until the phone comes in the mail. Then you call them and they can just add the line to your existing plan. As in my case i'm already on a family plan. so i only pay 10 bucks for a 3rd line instead of the 80 bucks of the even more.
Sounds like there might be an opening there to save some money. I guess this is why Verizon raised their ETF to 350 on smartphones (though is being questioned by FCC).

Highly doubt that works.
You can't merge accounts like that...
And I bet they'll make you keep the $80 plan no matter what, not $10 / month
talked to a tmobile rep and this definitely does not work, nice try though btw you forgot to mention the 35$ activation fee.
It may theoretically work if you give up not the line you've just purchased, but the older one that you had in your family for years. So you may need a line you had for years and it should be available for immediate termination (i.e. the previous 2 years contract has expired).
Keep us informed.
Data is required for all of the 2 years, you CAN'T have it removed.
The ABSOLUTE cheapest option ever is getting the phone unlocked + Even More Plus at $59.99, then remove the unlimited texting for a total of $49.99 / month, and no contract whatsoever. (Use Google Voice for free unlimited texting.)
$49.99 month vs the subsidized (and forced) phone plan of $79.99 a month is $30 per month saved. $30 * 24 months = $720 saved, MUCH more than the cost of the phone itself.
I had no idea you could cancel the text messaging part of the plan... good to know. Any idea how much it then costs should I accidentally send or receive an SMS?

Anyway, here's the standard messaging rates:
Domestic rates for text, picture, video, and instant messaging
$0.20 per message sent or received. This applies to messages you send to or receive from domestic numbers while you are in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico. This rate also applies to international messages sent or received while you are in the U.S and Puerto Rico. If you have a T-Mobile messaging bundle or a plan that includes messaging, messages received from international numbers are deducted from the allotted number of messages included in your bundle or plan.
The cheapest plan is $54.99, not $49.99.

How much does your data plan cost?

Not sure if this has been discussed before but I tried searching and nothing came up or maybe I used the wrong terms to search.
I was looking at my friends additional services on his phone in the My accounts app and saw that he had this plan called "Preferred Android Unlimited Web" for $20.00. I was curious as to how he got it and he told me they gave it to him for being a loyal customer of more than 12 months.
I been a customer for around 3 years or more and my unlimited data plan is at $29.99 so I called up 611 and asked what the deal was and I first talked to a woman and told her the situation and she said she couldn't see it. My only other option was to switch to the limited 200/mb per month plan. Then I ask to speak to a supervisor and was transferred over to a different department and talked to another woman. She looked up my records and confirmed that I was indeed a loyal customer and after explaining how I saw the preferred android unlimited web plan, she changed my plan to that without any hesitation.
The G2 is my first smart phone and I am wondering how come I wasn't informed of this data plan when I first signed up. Are any of you currently on this preferred android plan? If not, maybe you should look into it and save yourself 10 bucks a month. Just a heads up. I'm extremely pleased that my bill will be 10 bucks cheaper per month and that it took no trouble to change the service.
I'm getting the $20 a month for my data lines on my account..we had 3 but went to 2...my wife's BB is a $20 a month as well. I was told you had to have 2 or more data lines on your account to get the discounted rate. Granted I've been a customer for 10 years so they may have been doing it for me due to being a customer for so long too lol
The loyalty plan isn't something they offer you out of the blue, you usually have to get retentions to add it for you.
They can also give you myfavs for free, and unlimited family text messaging for $9.99
I pay $30 for my unlimited data plan...How many years you have to be with T-Mobile to be considered loyal?? I have been with them for 2 years now.

That should be more than enough. Just call up 611 and ask them to change you to the preferred android plan. If the rep says it doesn't show up for you, ask to be transferred to a supervisor or the retentions department.

yes the the preferred data plans work on family plans, I have it on all 4 of my lines (2 preferred mytouch, 2 preferred android)
They usually don't have a problem giving that plan out to anyone. They only ***** about the $9.99 unlimited family messaging and the free myfavs. Just call in and get to retentions to have them added. A regular csr wont have access to add those options.
I have the family time 700 plan for 59.99
my data plan says "T-mobile Android unlimited web + 400 messages"
for 24.99.
I will definately be calling them up....tomorrow...after my bill is paid

$10.."unlimited web for phones" on T-Mobile. I had it added onto my plan before I switched to my G2. They just recently updated their data plans so it no longer exists.
I recently renewed my contract and the loyalty department put me on a cheaper plan they no longer offer that includes $20/month data and my faves. I saw the promotion for adding an extra line for $5/month on their website and now can not take advantage of it without switching to one of their current plans They tell me it will cost me $10/month instead with no way around it.
When I got my G2s, the CSR at retentions told me that due to my tenure (4 years but I'm kinda spotty on making payments sometimes lol) that the best I could get was the $24.99 android data plan (and thus, I have that x2).
OTOH, they put me on the $49.99 family 500 plan to make up for it.
I think after I pay my bill I'm going to call them and ask about myfaves
If I remember correctly, you must have been a customer for 18 months with no late payments on an auto-bill account to be automatically granted loyalty status. The other way to get it apparently is to whine to retention department.

That makes sense. I was never late on my bill so I guess that's why they changed my data plan without any questions.
I just wished I knew about this preferred android plan when I got my G2.
lol, I can assure you that no whining, begging, or acting like a "I've been a customer for 4 years!! I demand the best deals!" happened.
I have no complaints My family (overall) has been with T-Mobile since 2001 (my account however has only existed 4 years), so that may.. help slightly (although I doubt it).
Sometimes, it just helps to be really nice (and get lucky!)
$25 for T-Mobile Android Unlimited Web with FlexPay. I ditched Sprint to get a Nexus One in January.
I've got a question though. Are any of you able to view how much data you've used on the T-Mobile website? Mine is always blank. Does that mean my data usage isn't being tracked?

Everything Data 450 promotion

Starting May 8th until July 23rd Sprint is giving 300 bonus minutes to the Everything Data 450 plan making it the ED750 plan. What's even better is you don't lose the minutes ever as long as you remain on the plan. This is for new and existing customers.
Good for those that need a few more minutes.
SWAC, referral and Sero plans do no qualify.

Thanks for the info although I rarely ever come close to my 450 minutes. Is there anything we have to do or are the 300 minutes automatically added to our plans?
Never said it before but thanks for all the info you give us, it's good to have an insider.
P.S. Still working changing my upgrade to 6/1, they really don't want to change that. I'll be with them 10yrs on 10/15 so from a company perspective I don't really think it's such a big deal to change.

As far as the 300 minutes you just have to call and ask, no requirements.

I wish they had a plan with less minutes.... I am on a 1500 shared and probably couldn't use that much in 3 months...
.........at 8 am today someone poisons the coffee....do not drink the coffee. More instructions will follow.
Cordially,

So, on May 8th, I have to call and change my plan, or is this automatic? Will my 25% discount still apply?

All you have to do is call Customer Care or go to a Sprint store and ask for it. It literally takes 3 minutes to do so.

I dread having to call Sprint for an extra 300 Bonus Minutes on top of the already 450 Anytime and 60 Bonus minutes I DONT USE AS IT IS...
Ive been back and forth with them for almost 4 months just trying to get them to fix my data - and now they want me to call for 300 minutes? How about just crediting me what 300 minutes would cost at $0.45 each on my bill and we call it even!?

2GB Data Plan Not Allowed with SIII - 5GB ($25) minimum

When buying the phone today in Queens at a corporate store, they would not allow me to keep my 2GB $10 data plan. I was forced to upgrade to 5GB at $25 a month in order to buy the phone. The rep informed that I could simply reduce the plan back to 2GB after a month - however I am still very pissed off about this. I'd love for someone to confirm that is true and I did not simply get swindled in Spanish Harlem, the only store in NYC with any SIII's.
dang its $35 for 5gb for me.... I had to upgrade from the $30 5gb data plan. I think as long as you had data your fine so hope they let you downgrade to 2gbs

you can lower it in a month but it's not simple. You have to go to a tmobile and buy a phone that doesn't require data, like the t359 or something. Have them put it on your line and boom.....nomore data. You can return the phone to another store a week later to get your money back. and go online to add the 2gig plan back.
That is the most retarded policy I have ever heard. T-Mobile used to be good with this stuff.
I was able to order the phone by adding a line and was given (and chose) the 2gb option.
Note: I am on a classic plan and the price for 2gb data is 20$

After I bought my phone I had to call a customer care rep and they "persuaded" me into a 10 gb/month with hotspot for $35/month. I come to find out that they left out the part where it was $35 on top of the $30 I was already paying for 5gigs and hotspot which was a special promotion I had gotten a few months back.I saw the $65 dollar charge on the website and flipped. Three reps and a lot of bull putty later, I get a customer loyalty rep who was the coolest guy ever and fixed it back.
Maybe try them if you feel wronged
here is what i got
Here is what i got from tmobile customers service, i call tmobile on Monday ask for upgrade to gs3 , but to able get fully upgrade, i have to wait until April 2013. After i talk to the account specialist i able to get fully upgrade price for the galaxy s3 and keep my old data plan, which is 20 dollar data plan with 5 gb 4g speed . Now i have to wait until June 27 and call again for upgrade gs3
Forgive my poor english
hmm... i spoke with customer loyalty today and i was told that i can just add the $10 data plan to my upgrade (this is my 2nd line with no text nor data).
Umm you can do 2GB. Who told you that?

I wonder if i purchase mine from a "friend" and use it on tmobile if they can tell, I dont even use 2gb a month on my current 2gb plan...
I am still using my old G1 unlimited data and text plan, will I be forced to upgrade it? They changed it to an Android data and text plan when I upgraded to the G2, but it stayed the same price. I pay right at $65 a month right now, wanna keep it that way.

Cell phone store employees make commission on "premium" services. I'd bet the 200mb and standard data plan do not make them any money.
If the manager okay'd everyone FORCING a "premium" service then the employees would. It's guaranteed money to them. Even if it is only $5 in commission, and they sell 20 of the SGSIII's, then they made themselves $100.
I worked at a Radioshack in high school. With my sales the way they were I was in the fast lane to manager training (which is kinda cool to an 18yo). Too many scuzzy people working in commission.
Hmm, on the web it doesn't say required. Only recommended. I call BS. Hopefully when I upgrade they won't make me change my current 2 GB plan

At the retail store level, it is required for them to put 5gig data on certain phones. This has been in place since the Vibrant came out.
I had problems with my data plan as well. I'm on a grandfathered unlimited data plan (throttled after 5gb) and they tried to make me change my data plan. I told them no way and the store rep accepted it.
Later however, I found out that they had switched one of my lines (by mistake of course) via text message. I spent a half hour with customer service before getting transferred to customer loyalty and they fixed things for me.
If you upgraded your line or bought a new phone, the 5gb is part of the rebate requirement. If you wanted a rebate or they printed the rebate form for you, your data plan was upgraded and the sales person got a commission on your upgrade. they told me once I received my rebate, I could go back to a 2gb plan on the line in question. Check out the T-Mobile rebate page for details.

What? that's bull, they took away my grandfathered unlimited for a 2 gb data now this?
I already have the 5 GB plan for $30 and when I order the phone online it doesn't make me upgrade - does that mean I can keep it?
i was asked if i would like to switch to the 5gb per month plan and said no, but he went ahead and still changed it. i had to contact tmobile customer support to change it back to 2gb.
I got mine this morning and I had a 2gb plan and they activated it without even mentioning or wanting me to upgrade my plan...went in with a 2gb and walked out with a 2gb.
