Auto retry failed sms? - Nexus One General

Android automatically trys to resend a sms when you get service if you try to send it when you have no service, 0 bars, x on the signal strength etc. but if you have 1 bar it just fails imediatly or fails after a second and doesnt automatically retry, you have to hold the message select edit then retry sending. is there a way to make it always automatically retry sending?

Install a Desire ROM. Then it will do it automatically.

do you think it would be possible to push the sms apk to cyanogens mod? i like cyanogens better than the desire roms. or do you think its too heavily dependent on the htc framework?

Press and hold the failed to send message icon for about a second (just long enough where it doesn't register as a tap and not too long where it'll bring up the "edit" option). It should automatically fill out the text field and you should just be able to tap send to try again. other than that, there's no way to force it to keep trying until it sends

Short messaging error..

hii all,
i have just bought an o2 xda2 last week, i oftenly recieved double delivery report when i am sending a short message. i think that something error with my cell phone provider. but as i check and recheck, i found out that my xda2 sent the message twice (although i just only click the "sent" button once), and i'm loosing twice credit on it. sigh...
anybody having the same problem as mine? any solution?
and second.. i'm wondering if i can make delivery report activated as default.. ? thx 4 the reply..
Are you using a memory manager like Battery Pack, Pocket Plus etc?
These can be set to close an application, rather then send to the background. What can happen, is that you send an SMS, then close Inbox before it has verified the message send, so next time you open it, it sends again.
If you do use a mem manager, remember to wait a few seconds before closing Inbox, or set the manager to meinimise Inbox rather than close it.
The only foolproof way to request delivery reports is by putting *0# thena space before the text of any message. This does reduce the available message by 4 characters, but is a universal command. (set *0# as a setting in My Text)

Send sms with unwanted delay

Hi!
Can someone tell me why my magician PM10A don't send sms immediatly, but often with unwanted random delay?
Sometimes it send message only when I turn up the device or when I reactivate the Messaging software...
mah!!!
Thanks,
w_s
Do not close the Messaging program before the SMS has been sent.
but is it normal?
Hi, and thank you for reply!
Is it normal?
This problem happens even if I do an hard reset.
Do you think I need to reinstall the rom?
w_s
We really need more information about the problem.
Could you please go through the process of sending a regular SMS message as I suspect you may be doing something wrong or it might not be a problem at all?
Thanks.
the process
-I tap on display to start messaging sw
-New sms
-click on the icon to open the contact list; then I choice the name and automatically it past the number on the header of the sms (but here I can't see the name, only the number)
-write message
-press send button on display
-it closes the window; now I can see the messaging page (incoming) but the notifing baloon don't appear!
-close messaging sw
After second but sometimes hours (even 5 hours I verified) the sms will be sent.
Have you tried to wait for the "message sent" notification balloon before closing the messaging application and seeing how long it takes for the notification to appear?
Tryed!
If I wait to close the prog it send the message after nno more than 5 seconds:
is it normal?
But if I close the application the random-delay is present...
Thank you,
w_s
Hi wildsetup, thanks for clarifying the matter. There is nothing wrong with your phone, when you send the SMS if you close the messaging application before the message balloon appears confirming the SMS has been sent, then this delay will occur.
TIP: Always leave the messaging application open until the SMS has been sent.

Thank (xda) godness!
I will be patient and wait for the baloon...
But is it the same with other devices, more recent and using wm5 for example?
Hi!
w_s
On no one of my devices a delay like that appears, so to me it doesn't seem to be normal. My question: Are you using one of thousands of tools witch force the applications to quit when you click their X-button?
I've installed...
spb pocket plus and resco file explorer.
Others application I've installed are not (I think) system involved...
Hi!

auto save text message to drafts on exit?

hi, is there any way (registry tweak perhaps) that could automatically save a text mesage to the drafts folder whenever you are composing a text within htc messaging and you accidently hit back meaning you lose what you've wrote?
thanks
bump, this would be so beneficial to me
Yea that would be awesome and would be even awesomerrr would be if we could make it so that if your phone didn't have signal the second when a message sent when it got connected again it would send the message. i cant explain why windows mobile doesn't support this...

Eris grey envelope with arrow wont go away HELP!!

Ok so this notification just started on my Eris! when I get a message(only text not emails) this grey envelope with a arrow on it comes up in my notifications even after I’ve read and replied to the message its still there until I click it and i take me to the message that ive already replied to. I’ve turned of all settings has far as auto retrieve and text notification but it still comes up! I deleted a bunch of apps thinking maybe one of them was causing this. I called htc they had no answers but to do a hard reset and lose everything not something I want to do! So if ya know something that would help please let me know thanks!
I found a fix
Aspotcat can be downloaded from the market it will show you what is running with ur text. found out some weird app was on there but no where to be found in my phone deleted it and problem solved!
Okay..seems like you have two text message applications....
IF thats the case, then try the following:
Your stock application can be reached from the app drawer...go there and then open the stock sms application...then go to settings and remove the check next to "notification"....
Now you should only have a notification every time you receive a text from the secondary application you're using..(i.e., handcent, byte sms, etc)
Now if you did that and your message is still showing..delete all of the messages in the stock application...this should clear it...or then simply open every single text up..(im sure you're running threaded messaging so it'll be a little eaiser)
If that still doesnt work...repeat the following using your secondary messaging application (handcent..blah blah)
Now if you did that and your message is still showing..delete all of the messages in the stock application...this should clear it...or then simply open every single text up..(im sure you're running threaded messaging so it'll be a little eaiser)
If you're still having problems...and are on a rooted rom....reflash a custom rom and you'll be fine!!

[Q] Messaging app

Bonjour, when I send a sms or read a sms from a contact and I go out of the messaging app, if I choose the app again to lets say send a new message, it always bring me back into the last message I was.
Is there a way to set the messaging app so that when I press the envelope, it goes to my list of message sent/receive and not into my last message. I always have to use the back arrow and it makes me loose time.
Any clue anyone?

thats because the app doesnt close it stays in background, youd have to press the arrow either way either press it before you leave the app or press it once you reenter it
did you try closing the app in the task manager?
should fix your problem
