Will try to explain..
Using Outlook 2007 & Active Sync with HTC HD2..
Outlook Mobile & HTC Calendar don't match up..The time of appointments in HTC Calendar/Outlook Mobile is +1 hr ahead but when i open the appt to edit the time is correct??? It is obviously a Daylight Savings (Eastern Australian Time) prob because this issues happens before 01/04 & after 30/09..
ie : outlook appointment starts 0600... HTC/outlook mobile shows start time 0700.. open the appointment (both HTC Cal & Outlook Mob) the start time is 0600.
I LOVE MY HD2.. best tech i have had for a long time so don't mistake me for a hater.. hell if this is the only prob i can find, its not that bad!!
So far i have hammered it with heaps of cabs, apps etc.. it just works!!

hi,
i have a colleague who also has a touch hd and over 3000 contacts and appointments in his outlook.
the synchronizing takes forever and doesnt even come to the end after several hours. he left the hd over night and the next morning it wasnt finished.
does anybody have that much contacts or appointments?
it think it should be possible to use the hd with these amount of items.
he cant possibly be the only person who has his customers and businesspartners in his outlook(?!).
with me the sync takes quite long too.
when the calendar is synced it updates the appointments "xx/yy" and after that the synchronisation stays and takes a few minutes.
how about you?
Only the first sync takes so long. I also have in excess of 3000 items to synchronize (about 300 contacts, 2800 appointments, tasks, etc). It took about three and an half hours (!), but now syncs in about 30 seconds. So no, I don't think this is unreasonable at all; there should however be a warning for the user to wait this long (as there is hardly any indication that synchronisation is actually progressing). The same number of items only took about 10 or so minutes on a PPC (Loox 560) that I had before HD. It only takes a couple of minutes on a Nokia 6500 dumbphone though. Sigh. Well, we all know that AS actually stands for ActiveStink(tm).
Cheers,

How to Increase Synchronisation Speeds
Hi Guys
I had the same problem. The way around this is to disable your Touchflo 3d from the today screen.
I was then able to sync with for the first time with outlook over 5,000 calendar appointment and over 1200 contacts in about 30 mins. After that "daily" syncs should only take 30 seconds to a minute.
Hope this helps
Kaid
ah, great tip. i will try that.
do you deactivate the tf3d for the daily syncs too?

Click to collapse
Works 100%. Struggled with that for days, solved now. Thanks m8!
works really great!
that is awesome!.
i am so glad you told me.
by the way: is there a way to disable the tf3d calendar?
i think that should be the problem. disabling the calendar should solve it.
Try removing home tab in customisation options. It should help.
not possible
Hi all,
Firstly i'm not the greatest of writers, so i bet i've made this seems a lot more complicated than it should be........
Hopefully a simple problem...here goes
I have a HTC HD Touch, and using Outlook 2002, XP Pro SP3, and Ms AS 4.5
I have put a regular occurance on my HD of my work shifts
Day 1 (0900-1800) ie 22nd.....
Day 2 (0900-1800) ie 23rd......
Night 1 (following day 1800-0900 following morniing) 24th.....
Night 2 (Same night, as i finished this morning from previous night shift 1800-0900 following morniing) - God i hope that makes sense !! 25th....
4 days off ...start again on the 29th .....
I have put an occuramce in for each individual day for 8 days time, as we have 4 days off, after each total TOUR.
If i enter the information on the HTC first and then sync over to the Outlook, it will not replicate on Outlook !!!! How annoying, that is the problem.
If enter the information on the Outlook first then try to sync, It worke fine on the HTC !!!!
Can anyone let me know why it will not come up on outlook ???, as i do not want to delete and start all over from my Outlook, just to replicate on the HTC, as most of my info is entered whilst out and about.
Error code is Ms ActiveSync Support code 1
Thanks
Andrew
Hi guys a question for you all. I work a four on and four off shift. And want to save my shift on and off day's nights to my phone only problem is when i set up an appointment ie day 1 the repeat drop box only offers 3 options and none are of use i need a custom one of every 16 days so i can set my shifts for the year is this possable or is there an easyer way i am over looking?
Thanks in advance.
Can be done but i do this via syncing to my PC, Outlook. With Outlook you can set a reminder / apt to this pattern and HD2 just imports this when synced.
Other way is use a calendar program. For instance i use Pocket Informant and it can set patters like what you describe for reminders etc.
Thanks had never messed with outlook before and thats worked out fine a shame you cant just tweek the setting on the htc set up though.
True but even without Outlook use an aftermarket cal app like Pocket Informant, im sure there are more out there that can do it as well. The inbuilt one is fairly basic so the other ones can usually offer more options as well.
speaking of which...
is it even possible to ripp the HTC Calendar off of the snese? I looked through the windows folder, but there's no HTC Calendar.ink/exe or any other file which could make me happy. I have the sense off, but would like to use the HTC Calendar.
Thanks for any info!
hey,
not sure how others are dealing with this and htc are little help.
every phone i've had so far changes appointment times with timezones. so in the past i've never bothered and just put in appointments in local time and changed only the clock when travelling.
The hd2, however, insists on changing time zones for me from the mobile network, and all my appointments shift as well.
i've tried setting timezones in my pim, but this is not supported by the hd2. so how do i stop shifting timezones, or shifting appointment times? is there a nicely integrated calendar app for the hd2 that would use timezones and syncs with intellisync? any suggestions welcome.
cheers
ps:i could set my appointments in with the timezone offset, but i like planning trips in local time, i remember times better that way...
I have not faced your problem - I am not sure that I understood however. I have my HD2 syncing with Outlook via Exchange. I set up my appointments mainly in desktop Outlook in the correct time zone and they get nicely synced in my HTC when I change countries. E.g. suppose I am in GMT +2. Say I have an appoinment at 10:00 (at GMT +1). I set it as such in outlook.( naturaly when I am still in GMT+2 my appointment shows as 09:00) When I visit the country with GMT+1, the phone changes the time zone and my appointment shows nicely at 10:00.
not using outlook
we use Groupwise in my work, and if you set your appointment for 10.00 GMT +1 and are in GMT +2 it still shows at 10.00, and as HTC doesn't support timezones it syncs it as 10.00.
i could do what you describe manually, no problems, but as I said, if I'm planning a trip (in this case I'm sitting in GMT +2) and the calendar shows 9.00, my brain thinks 9, slow as it is, when I get to GMT +1. I like to see the local times in front of me, so i would like the phone to ignore timezone shifts in appointments as well. I don't like all this automatic 'help'.
so your outlook setup would confuse the hell out of me, but that might just be me
will have to go that way though, relearn my habits...
Is there any way to display upcoming birthdays/anniversaries on home screen of HTC Sense 2.5 (US T-Mobile HD2) ?
I mean ... w/o generating them as appointments
i think there's no way,
because it's linked with the htc and outlook calendar.
nokia s60 (e66) calendar has the same problem because it's based on mso calendar to sync it.
you only can set it as "whole day" - "every year" appointment with a 2 day reminder ).
works good for me
and i can sync it to every mso compatible device.
(or you should think about a homescreen tweak and a other calendar)
ok i´m wrong

I ended up using ManilaBirthday too ... but did not like the idea .. I mean ... having to start separate application to check if somebody has birthday devalues whole idea of having birthday REMINDER on front page, so it does in fact REMINDS you
Manila Birthday also has that "generation of calendar entries" ... which is OK, but I'm not sure how does it work if I change birthday date. May be I just need to regenerate.
Oh well ... I guess that is my best choice ... I really miss SPB Mobile Shell with birthday reminders.
