i did and they told me to email the support ppl and they replied me back but i didnt get any useful information...

Do you currently have a corporate/student discount on your plan? If so, call T-mobile and tell them to take it off. Then order your phone and when you get it and are switched to the EM 500 plan, call back and have them add it back on.
If this doesn't apply to you, maybe you have an Android phone already. Call T-mobile and tell them you take your data plan off. That may also work after Google's servers sync with T-mo.

Did they jack your rate?
FYI, you can opt out of just about any wireless plan because there is a provision that states you can opt out if there are any changes to your account w/out notification.
On every bill, by every wireless company, there is a service charge, can't remember exactly what it is called, but it is not based on usage, therefore is it a monthly change to your plan that yo uare not notified of.
It has legal presidence, although the carrier will fight you on it initially, escalate the issue to upper management and they will eventually cave.

Of course they did.
Here is the story.
In November 2009, I called and asked for a mid-year upgrade because my current phone(LG-VU) is POS and out of warranty. That phone had a $10 unlimited data plan. So they gave me the ATT Pure and told me that it would come with $30 data plan. Ok. so far so good.
I got the new phone, but my data plan stayed on $10. Good for me.
Now in February 2010 I get this email and now I have a $30 data plan.
The good thing is if I change to non-pda phone, it allows me to switch back to $10 data plan. ATT is going sophisticated with their IMEI.

Bastards!
Just use a dump phone for a day, call the representative you lost your PDA phone and want to use media-net again.
I got the same message and by text!!!!!
I had my pure for almost 6 months with the 10 dollar data plan. Those bastards changed it. I popped my sim card out and slapped it on my LG Shine. Called ATT and complained. They asked for the IMEI and apologized for the "inconvenience" then they switched it back to the 10/Month. Later the next day I slapped the sim back on my Pure...
ONE DAY LATER I get the same msg and now its its switched back to the 30/month PDA plan. I don't know what to do anymore.
What can we do?
Possible solutions;
change IMEI #
flash to a none att rom
switch my lovely pure for a t-mobile unlocked HTC pda?
We all need to work together as a family to fix this problem.
AT&T is not the only carrier polling/trolling imei numbers for smartphones. As you noticed, you used a non-smartphone for 1 day and switched phones and they caught up with you immediately. An interesting place to also follow this is on the AT$T forums for HTC phones: http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board?board.id=cingular

Anybody else gotten their data plans upgraded by AT&T?

I two texts from AT&T telling me they upgraded my data plan "as a courtesy" as was previously reported on by Engadget. I have been swapping out my SIM card and placing it in my old K790a and changing the data plan back to the $10 per month one. However AT&T keeps changing it back a day or two later.
What I'm interested to find out is if I make the switch just before the billing cycle ends, and it sticks through to the next one, will I be charged 10 bucks or not.
you should switch to tmobile they are cheaper and they dont change your plan on you.

Upgrade a phone for another line?

So i have a family plan with my parents... We have a 1500 minute account, i have unlimited text and web, they are old school and dont like texting or webing. So i upgrade my phone to a mytouch 7 months ago.. My parents are both elegible to upgrade price.. And i really like the Vibrant.. but t-mobile wants you to put a data plan on the line that you upgrade the phone... So my question is if i get the Vibrant using my moms phone number, Do i have to put Web on her line?? even tough she will not be using the phone.. I will Thanks
There should be a workaround for this, I would visit a store and ask a rep.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The Data has to be added to the line that is upgraded. and the data has to stay on that line for the required 2 years or untill you do another upgrade.

this doesnt make sense how about if some one looses the phone, and gets a non internet capable phone? they are going to pay for a service that they cant use??
I mean the disconnected price is because you are increasing your contract 2 years more..
How about if i just want the phone for testing purposes and i dont want internet on it... or i want to use it as an ipod..
This suks
there is a way around it, upgrade the line to a vibrant on your moms line....then go into the store a day later and upgrade the same line to the cheapest dumb phone, you will have to pay full price, should be about 50-60 bucks, that line no longer requires a data contract

I called a tmo store, and wold told the same thing, that the data plan has to stick with the line that it was upgrade it, that i can use the phone with my other number, but i would have to play internet double :S WTF and that if i call tmobile and try to cancel that internet that they would charge a cancellation fee ($200) to remove this...
How stupid is this??

The data is required for 2 years. If you switch to a non data phone they'll make you switch to unlimited messaging for $15 on that line (best case scenario)

Wait a minute. I though data plans only went in to effect once TMO detected the IMEI number for a particular SIM? I've done this in the past, and I understood I could do this in the future when speaking to TMO last week.
well seems like if i buy a phone make a 2 year contract and then later on i buy a full price phone trough t-mobile i dont have to keep that data plan...
well i just purchase it for $164 on the t-mo site.. Lets see what happens... You guys want me to update with the resolution??
btw if everything goes wrong i have 30 days to return the device correct???
I work for T-mobile, there is a work around to this. but you'll be paying full price for the vibrant. the $199 price for the vibrant is so cheap because of the internet and the data plan is locked in for 2 years regarless if you buy a cheaper phone, theres no way to take it out unless you want to pay the $200 early termination fee, its call "Required data plan". its better just to buy the phone out right. if you really want the vibrant as an upgrade PM and ill tell you what to do.

I believe their return policy is now only 14 days.
just to let everyone know, any smartphone you get you are locked in for a 2 year data plan regarless if you get a dumb phone, that data plan is locked in. I work for T-mobile so I know, there is a way to do this, its my company secret so I can't say it here.

I called the loyalty department at t-mobile.
Upgraded my father-in laws liine and got ordered the vibrant to put on my account.
The cost??? $149!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Call the loyalty department!!
They even took off the web on my father-in law's line.
I had to call in a couple times though.
Depends on who you talk to.
Hope this helps.
On your line, give that to one of your parents, take one of their lines upgrade it get the vibrant add text and web, and then remove all web and text services from your old line.simple. Hit my google voice number and I'll explain better for you, 2158217393. Tone.

I had that happen to me when I upgraded a different line for my MyTouch. They will let you do it you just have to keep telling them you want to talk to a supervisor until one will give permission.

Stealth change from $10 to $30 plan.

Ordered my Nexus S online, chose the $10/200MB plan with my existing family plan. Goes through fine, I print nearly every step to PDF. Get my email confirmation, $10/200MB plan.
Now I go to check the status of my order and the order now shows my plan has spontaneously changed to the $30/Unlimited plan.
Big surprise, they're evil cheating bastards.

Tmobile has some of the best costumer service i have ever experienced, call them tell them and problem solved,
no *****ing is necessary
Probably because the 200 MB plan is not for the Nexus S. That is my guess.
That's crazy. Yeah, just try calling them and seeing what's up. I just got mine today. I need the unlimited. Sucks I'm paying 4G price for a 3G service though..

Someone had to program a computer routine to change all the $10 plans to $30 after the sale had become final. There's no way this happens by accident. Even if they fix it for me later, they're still hoping to catch plenty of people off guard.

It isn't stated anywhere that this phone is any different than all their other phones, and the Best Buy system which connects to the T-mobile computer to verify my plan and eligibility offered me the $10 plan.
I'm just saying, this is why no one cares when someone finds a loophole in a contract to buy a phone for less or cancel their plan without a termination fee: because these guys are out to find ways to charge us more. Intentionally and stealthily changing a contract and then pretending it was the original deal is fraud and it's a crime. But I know...corporations can't go to jail, and they'll just claim it was a computer glitch.
I posted this so someone in the same situation will notice it and know they need to contest it.

I read a google cached version of this so I could see what your problem was.
I just got the GS4 yesterday and was coming from the N4 prepaid. I am in the EXACT same boat. It has been 24 hours and my number still has not ported.
Going back to the store today after work.
Did your issue ever get resolved?

I'm still waiting. Apparently my N4 is still active on my prepaid account. Just now turned it on after having it off since I got the GS4 ... and here came all my texts and everything else associated with that number. Hopefully my trip to TMo this afternoon will clear things up a little.

Wait till the number gets ported to the GS4 and all those texts in the nexus 4 will come over like a flood. Lol. Going friday to pay the phone off and get a prepaid kit to activate online again and get my $30 tmobile prepaid plan back. By the way, I use $2.99 skype plan for unlimited free calls over wifi in the U.S. and use the 100 talk mins w the plan when on the road or no wifi. Cant beat $32.99 monthly cell phone bill w unlimited texts and 5 gb data.

Went to the TMo store and was told that apparently porting a number from prepaid to postpaid on T-Mobile can take up to a week. Not sure why, but the guy said that if I was coming from VZW, ATT, or Sprint it would be done in a couple of hours, but moving around inside T-Mobile takes longer
Here's hoping!
