Hello,
I just got my Dash 3G and I have an online account for a softphone through Voipraider.com for my international phone calls. I was looking through the instructions and it does have SIP settings so I can input on my phone.
Can anyone please recommend what's a good voice quality, stable SIP client, tht I can enter my credentials in and use it over the data plan (3G) or the WIFI network??
Thanks for reading my request!
I use Talkonaut http://www.talkonaut.com its pretty basic but I have never had any trouble using it.
I downloaded the software but I can not hear any sound from the phone nor from the speaker phone. The call goes through, my destination phone rings and I can hear sound coming from cell phone to the destination phone. The problem I am having is receiving any sound back to my Dash 3G... Any setting I need to mess with to make it work?

Hi. I have a T-Mobile MDA running xelecien's 2.26 rom. when I stream audio with TCPMP (core player) or windows media player, all incomming calls go straight to voicemail. every so often a call will get through, but it's very rare. has anyone else experienced this issue? any workarounds? I mainly use the siruis player ver. 1.6.1.31192 with TCPMP on the memory card. whether I leave both programs running, or run TCPMP in the background with the siruis program close, I miss calls. any suggestions? Thanks, I appreciate it.
Fairly simple really - it's how the GSM network is designed to operate. You can have either a phone call or an active GPRS or EDGE connection - you can't have both, at least not at the same time.
If you are steaming music, calls will go to your vmail - likewise if you are on a call you can't use the internet.
Hope this helps.
i read somewhere that it has to do with the network also.. Tmobile has a tendecy to put data over voice.. as cingular puts voice over data
this is very true i have t-mobile and if im using like im+ and im connected to inet i wont get all my sms and calls. its fairly irritating. kinda makes me not wanna have internet on my phone.
^I tested that yesterday with IM+, I repeatedly sent messages and tried calling myself with another phone, call went straight to voicemail, then I tried it again when I wasn't sending an IM and the call came through, so you're phone will still ring as long as you're not sending or receiving data. Yes this is stupid and I wish t-mobile would put voice over data like cingular. T-mobile has inexpensive plans, cool phones, great customer service and the ****tiest coverage of any company out there WAY TO GO T-MO!!!
thanks for the respsonse.
I was able to get Internet Calling (integrated VoIP) on the mogul working with the Gizmo VoIP service. The big problem is that the volume is so low it is pretty much unusable. I followed all of the guides here on xda and came up with the same issue as everyone else; i could not get internet calling to show up on the today screen and i did not have any of the internet options under the phone settings. What solved it for me was Schap's Setup VoIP tool version .3. This tools gives us the ability to now set the items that us Mogul users do not have available under the phone settings.
In a nut shell:
1) install WM6VoIP.CAB then reboot
2) install SetupVoIP_v0.3.cab (Schap's VoIP tool)
3) open Schap's config tool and set:
a) all of your SIP settings.b) Set outgoing calls using VoIP to Whenever available.c) enable VoIP over 3G.
Now when you go to your phone dialer it should now show the name of your VoIP service at the top rather than your carrier (Sprint PCS in my case). You will have to force your internet to connect first (i use PIE to start my internet connections up, not sure of a better way to do this.) Now you will be able to make and receive VoIP calls. I have verified this by calling another phone and seeing that the caller ID is from my VoIP. I have also been able to stay on a call and browse the web at the same time (not normally possible on sprint). The 1X icon never appears over my Evo icon while on the phone now. Interestingly enough i could not get this to work over WiFi, it would only work on Evdo.
This integrated VoIP is so seamless that it pains me to use another app just because of this volume issue. I have tried:
Skype. Works great, but not with Gizmo.
SJPhone. Works with Gizmo, but is VERY choppy.
GoSip. Works great with Gizmo, but is very big and slows the phone down.
Fring. Works great with Gizmo and the mem usage is great, but has no dial pad and that pretty much makes the app useless.
Wengo. Works great with Gizmo. Mem usage is on the big side, but is manageable. Seems to be the best for me so far.
I have tried many others that either work as dial out only or only work with their makers SIP service.
Any other ideas or thoughts?
Thanks,
JD
You got the mic working using Fring ? I always got one way audio
What version of WM6VoIP.CAB did you use ?
The mic did work for me on fring. However, the instant that i realized that i didn't have a dialpad i removed it. I use VoIP mostly for conference calls and i need to be able to enter in conference room passwords.
How would i be able to tell what version of WM6VoIP.CAB i am using? I cannot find version information anywhere.
JD
You are lucky with the Fring since there is many complaints from Mogul owners that Mic doesn't work
What version did you use ?
When I was searching for the WM6VoIP.CAB there was indication that there is some new version but the link was dead when I tried to download
Can you please post it here?
When i tried Fring it was a few months ago and i don't remember the version number. I do remember using my bluetooth headset for SIP rather than the internal mic and speaker. I just tried the newest version of fring (downloaded last night) and my internal mic and bluetooth headset now do not work for SIP. Interesting.
For WM6VoIP.cab I searched here on XDA and downloaded the first link i found. Here is the one that i used, not sure if there is a newer version? http://218.93.115.138/d900/patch/WM6VoIP.CAB

That's the same I'm using ... I did read some article about this couple weeks ago ( can't find it) where there was reference and non working link to new version of this file.
Did you read this post ? :
http://www.eten-users.eu/lofiversion/index.php/t8854.html
There is reference to switch.cab ( can't find link to download it )
switch.cab
Try this:
http://www.etenblog.com/downloads/Software/switch.cab
I did, it did install ok but it doesn't work
Thanks
well i tried the configuration and everything, but the thing is that when i try to call out it says dialing then it says call ended, like it doesn't even ring. I entered the correct settings and everything.
I did everything and it DOES NOT show on my Today screen, I see the item "Internet Calling" checked in the today screen options. Any ideas?
Telus phone right ?
I if so that's normal with the Telus ROM

No, I have a Sprint Mogul with the "unofficial" leaked GPS rom. Anyone else know how to fix this? I really need this to work, thanks a lot.
It will not show on your today screen. When you go to your dialpad, the name of your VOIP provider should be listed at the top rather than sprint. If it shows that then you should be good to go.
JD
When you make a call, does the sound come through the earpiece or the speakerphone?
How can I have the sound coming from the speaker on the screen side instead of the back speaker?
Thanks!
I'm afraid you can't

Use this VOIP client.
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=95190&hilit=agephone
It changes the sound to ear-piece during call. Fast switch between different SIP service providers, use of WM phone book etc.
MOD EDIT - Move to general discussion
This is my first thread. So Mods, please feel free to bump if necessary. Apologies in advance. May be relevant to other WM devices as well.
Still a noob, and am hoping this post can help others at same experience level. Tried solutions such as Fring, Internal WM VoIP, AutoAudioRoute, etc but could not get a working solution. Don't know how to flash a new ROM yet, so not an option. Thank you to developers and posters here whose work and experience have helped greatly.
In short, what worked for me was a combination of Teksoft's AudioRoute, AgePhone Mobile (softphone) and Google Voice (sorry, only US).
My quest: To turn my old HTC Titan into a VoIP over WiFi with automated speaker switch. Free is best, but willing to spend a little if I have to.
My phone: A former Sprint Mogul 6800, no longer active, so no plan whatsoever. WM 6.1, Stock Sprint ROM 3.56, Radio 3.42.
Was using Teksoft AudioRoute, but had to manipulate manually for each call, because for outgoing calls if speaker switch occurred before other party answered their phone - no outgoing audio.
Tried AgePhone Mobile softphone. They have a settings option that can execute AudioRoute speaker switch by command line. Execute on (call) Connect "-earpeice" Execute on Disconnect "-backspeaker"
However on outgoing calls, switch occurred too early, killing outgoing audio.
Was looking into a Google Voice number, when I read that the way it works, outgoing calls ring back to the phone number that you're forwarding calls to. Tested with AgePhone Mobile and success! Outgoing Google Voice call rings AgePhone, which switches to internal speaker when I pick up, then completes the call to the other party.
So for my phone at least SIP Provider w DID number + AgePhone Mobile ($35) + Teksoft AudioRoute + Google Voice + Google Voice Dialer = fully working, automated, speaker appropriate VoIP WiFi phone.
So, a relatively cheap solution but not free and only works for US users, but I hope this info might help out someone else.
Add Ons:
Free Google Voice dialpad: iDial (and iContacts)
I chose OneDialer instead ($7) because of integrated Google Voice SMS client - Free SMS!
Hi Folks,
So I am not a programmer but an avid user of technology. On my tab I can:
Send and receive SMS to my permanent number, and when someone calls me, the call is forwarded to my work cell. Out bound calls go from my work phone (with or without Google Voice). Or I can use the Google Voice web interface to dial and then Google calls my work phone and the other phone.
The Tab # call forwarding is as far as I can tell not an official feature offered by VZW. In fact most of the folks I spoke to, at VZW, swore up and down that it wouldn't work.
Here is what I did:
Activated call forwarding from the regular cell on my permanent line.
Got a Tab, with its own #. Then swapped the two numbers and the call forwarding stuck.
I think there are about 4 people out there that this will be useful for but none the less all 5 of us will revel in our geekyness. (Insert mad scientist laughter here)
The advantage of all this is that I can finally get my SMS messages without carrying 2 "phones" (yes now I carry a tab and a work phone, that is bulkier package, yes, stop pointing out the obvious. This is only for a total of me and the 4 others remember? haha)
PS. Any programmers reading this, a clean Dialer app for the Tab that interfaces with the Google web dial feature would be awesome.
Hey I'm one of those four that appreciates the suggestion and idea! Ended up borrowing a friends old turd phone to port my ATT number to Verizon on. After it was activated and working I setup call forwarding to forward to my Skype number then immediately had them transfer that number to my new unactivated Galaxy Tab.
Works great have my same old cell phone number that I can text and pictures message and at the same time get calls automatically sent to my Skype so it's transparent to everyone calling me. Went ahead and set up Caller ID on Skype to appear as that same old cell phone number.
Thanks works great here as well hopefully they don't disable that down the line .
i just dont get why people would buy sprint or verizon tab? you can't do much with them, to me the GSM versions are the best.
Verizon has much better 3G coverage then both ATT and T-Mobile combined. Add to that Skype calling is $2.99 a month unlimited and works pretty great. Consider those using Skype need some strong and consistant 3G traveling.

Current modded Skype app (allows 3G calling) supports media profile only meaning only sound no mic support from the bluetooth headset. It's not that bad in my opinion you just need the tab in your immediate space.
Apparently it's partially a limitation with the Skype app, there is a much newer version out that might have added full bluetooth support but I haven't seen anyone mod it for 3G calling yet (keeping eyes peeled).
Maybe not everyone wants to make carrier based calls on their Tab? I know I have no desire to do that. I have a Sprint Tab and can do exactly what I want with it. I don't need a 7" phone. I bought my EVO for that =)
Carrier based calls on my cell and voip calls on my Tab for when I am going to have long work related calls (once they fix the BT profile that is)
I'm not sure if I'm overlooking this or not, honestly surprised it hasn't been mentioned.... I'm using Sipdroid (which now supports google voice) to make and receive free calls on the tab. Incoming calls are forwarded to the tab and outgoing calls work fine. I've used it with a wired headset, haven't tried it bluetooth yet. Call quality is very clear.

I'm still new to android. Do you mind explaining how you set up superior with google voice. Don't know how to use superior.

I'm also using sipdroid to make free calls thru google voice but how do you configure sipdroid to receive calls thru your google voice number? Bluetooth works for me though

I am now using the free CSipSimple app with a trial of Sipgate SIP service and Google Voice service.
I am giving out the GV# to my contacts so that I can change SIP or VOIP carriers without affecting the way I am contacted ever again. To do this I am forwarding calls that are made to the GV# to my Sipgate number, and in the future, any SIP or VOIP number I may end up with.
Sipgate seems pretty reasonable beyond the trial in that it costs 1.9 cents per miniute and you just load your account with credit when you need it. I am using the "Voice" GV app on my tab to handle text messaging to the same GV#, so that GV# is used for both text and voice.
Now to find a reasonable unlimited data plan.
Honestly for what Skype cost a month for unlimited calling in the US and Canada ($2.99 a month) it's a hard to beat option. I simply forward my cellphone/tab number and GV# to Skype and I have Skype caller ID setup to display my GV# when I make calls out.
Add in the latest release 1.0.0.614 (1.0.1) fixes every single shortfall with the Skype app including more notifications for chat and everything else, no more signing out / time outs (8 hours strong without touching the tab still signed in and running), contact integration, etc. I'm using a modded apk for 614 that allows incoming and outgoing calls on 3G and it works without issue.
I may look into Sipdroid and Sipgate as alternatives but for the price Skype works great and has a great backbone as well (considering it's size and use).
Can you post the link for .614? ....

Well I hit the dreaded bug we've been experiencing on 614 since adding the 3G hack "Already 2 ongoing calls, you must end one call before you can start another one". So it worked great and then now road block , reboot and flush and still the same thing it's like it magically can't call out from 3G (strange).
I'll report as I figure it out.

With Google Voice you can forward calls to multiple devices, including your cell phone, or your land line if signal strength is poor at home. Alternatively, Skype over WiFi can be very cool and very cheap - I use Skype on my tab for all outgoing calls from home as I have a poor cell signal.
GV is more than just Visual VM for Android - it is opening the door to a new generation of voice communications that will leave telephone numbers as obsolete as the old Compuserve numbers...
