Excuse the silly question but is there a way to put the HD2 in landscape mode permanently? I'm using BsB tweaks but I really hate it when Opera rotates back to portrait and jumps back to the top of the web page every so often. Surely there must be a permanent landscape mode like there was in all previous WM versions?
phone call screen
the worst thingie is when it is landscape mode and u receive or make call..the phone call answearing screen is in portrait mode...and never rotates to landscape.have tried bsb tweaks = no change! must get phone on portrait and then get to landscape to have phone screen on landscape mode. it changes to landscape mode but not automaticly.
so is there any way to make thios to work?
any solutions?...or still noone interested about this issue?
You can disable the phone canvas and use the WM default one or install your own, like PhoneEx.
I would also like to have this option in my HD2. it would be perfect for the time spent in car...
Use a ROM with a Sense version that works in landscape and disable the HTC dialer.
landscape
Change the reg. key
HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation\HideOrientationUI" from "1" to "0"
Then you see in Settings > Screen a radio-buttion for
choosing the format.
But no garanty for nothing with reg.-keys.

....or use Gyrator which will rotate the phone canvas and anything else.

Yeah that seems to be the missing one. Unfortunately it is rotated back by just any screen that doesn't support landscape like the quicklist (=long press power button) and even WM's today screen

Gyrator works fine but that's not what I want. I don't like autorotation and WM should be able to stay in the orientation you tell it to. The problem with autorotation is when viewing a web page while lying down on my side, it flips the HD2 to portrait while I would like it to stay in landscape.
I told you what to do. Try it.
Attached is the .cab to disable HTC's phone canvas. Now you need a ROM with a Sense version that supports landscape (1922, maybe also 2012) and, if you want, you can install another dialer software, like Iconsoft PhoneEx.
Additionally, you can install an application to rotate the screen manually, like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347705
That's how I use my HD2 all the time, so I know it works and gets you full landscape, without ever rotating back.
It 'll probably come to installing a custom rom. Haven't done that on this phone yet and I think it's a bad thing that doing that would be necessary. Even more because I know that every unwilling application could just rotate it back. It should be possible to apply the same tweaks the custom landscape rom cooks use on the standard rom, shouldn't it?
No, there is no way to have the landscape enabled Sense version without a custom ROM.

Which custom ROM will make HD2 in permanent landscape (i.e. untill you tell again it to be in portrait) for all and each application which autorotates (some even without physically rotating HD2 like Phone ...)? This does matter a lot for me to get Redfly Mobile Companion working smoothly with HD2. I have applied some background tweaks like HDWall and it made screen in hi-res like it is RealWVGA for HD2 much better to view and get more information on screen, but I am really bugged by this auto-rotate featute of HD2. I have enabled rotation, assigned a button even than it flips to portrait mode whenever I connect Redfly so basically on Redfly's 800x480 landscape screen, I get a 480x800 screen scaled/stretced to 800x480! How weird it is! And when I play video on HTC Album or WMP in full screen it gets to full screen in portrait mode and weirdest it looks! I want this auto-rotation fancy to be stopped and for ever unde user control so once HD2 is put in landscape mode (left/right handed) evrey application follows the set landscape orientation come what may. No more auto-rotate, not even with phone put inro landscape or portrait. So three things required,
(1) Rotation disabled on phone's physical orientation. Let phone be in protrait or landsape mode physically but ONCE disabled screen will not rotate with phone.
(2) Other application which change to portrait mode automatically whatever the phone's physically orientation is (like by default portrait Phone, long preess power button, YouTube etc..) will stop this behaviour and will be forced to phone's assigned or set screen mode. So if phone is set in landscape, no matter what application or phone's physicall orientation be, all such unconrtolled applications will come under full control and will be forced to follow set orientation mode, i.e. landscape if it is set.
(3) Setting of mode in LS or Portrait and left.right hand. Once selected phone stays in that untill it is changed again bypassing all HTC SENSE/MANILA/G-SENSOR and all that stuff.
Anyone please help.
PS. HDWalls v 1.29b from HD Walls v 1.27b enabled landscape on Manila v 2012 and WM 6.5 and have options to creat custom backgrounds, so this does anable landscape in Manila once required Manila patch (V 1.22 or v 1.3) is applied, so it gets Manila in landscape but above auto-rotation still remains, it is not able to put device in permanent landscape mode for all and each application.

Hey folks-
I tried posting this in the S2U2 0.99 thread but there are countless pages and I figure it was like dropping a needle in a haystack. Any smartphone users out there have any experience using S2U2 on it?
My wife's Moto Q will run it, and it will function properly, except it almost appears as if the UI is set to portrait and the background set to landscape. The landscape wallpaper is chosen, but nudged down and left so it leaves equally sized black bars on the top and right side of the screen. The rest of the UI elements look set to portrait, as they are horizontally short (guessing 240 but I don't know for certain) and the slide bar is scrolled off the bottom of the screen. The clock/curtain and the carrier info bar are properly aligned to the top left corner of the screen, but as I said they appear to be portrait as they end at approx 240px.
Does anyone out there use the latest S2U2 with a smartphone (or, better, the Moto Q specifically) and has experienced/resolved similar problems? TIA
Edit: I tried this with and without ddraw and safemode on, and I get the same results every time.
I donĀ“t know. Sorry
i think he is using the dpad function of unlocking s2u2. i think your gonna end up with issues with the looks though. just wasnt meant for a smartphone squarish screen.
Wow, everywhere I post this someone without knowledge of S2U2's capabilities tells me smartphones don't have touchscreens. Thanks for the news flash
Yes, ajk511 is right, mostly. The Q has a 320x240 screen, not square, but even if it did, the S2U2 notes say it supports square screens and smartphones. I'm looking for input from anyone who's used S2U2 with a Q or similar device and experienced or resolved this problem.
I can't tell what S2U2 will do on a Q, but it works perfectly on a Smartphone emulator, except the CallerID part. Could you provide a screenshot of what you've done? I guess you may have to prepare a separate set of wallpapers for your Q as QVGA device needs a 240x320 portrait wallpaper while your Q is 320x240.
Can't speak for the Q, but on my wife's HTC Excalibur it works flawless. I did however make a custom 320 wide by 240 high wallpaper that is running in portrait(!) mode as far as I remember. Slider is visible and working fine with the DPAD.
I can confirm that s2u2 works without problems on my Samsung i600, after I had set NoPowerSuspend to 1 (before that if my phone screeen has been turned off, it stayed off and I can unlock device only after pluging headset wire into the slot), and CallerID to 0.
Now I have one question: how can I set s2u2 to lock keypad on homescreen only?
Sorry for my English
This work in a Smartphone HTC S620?
I had a problem with my samsung i320 (landscape 320x240). S2U2 and settings start in the wrong orientation. unlock is working with DPAD, but it's impossible to use settings
Thanks for your answers
Treo 500v has the same problem.
I started with 1.01 and then 1.05, 1.22b, 1.30 and 1.32.
Always the same problem
BoZ
I guess S2U should have its own help forum. Anyways The problem I am having is that when I turn the back light off and turn it back on S2U pops up just fine but I also get an error notification "Cannot execute \Storage Card\Program Files\XMT_OnPowerOn.exe" Does anyone know if this is a S2U problem or something else?
Running on Q9
I've been running s2u2 on a Motorola Q9c for about 3 weeks now with minimal problems. I love it! I'm just trying to learn my way around some of the power management options, and figure out how to change the size/date of the date. So far so good though, I'm very impressed.
Hi, which s2u2 version are u using?
thanks
newest version works fine on HTC Ozone. Trick is you need to use mydialer to change config, its eazier that way.
I actually used S2U2 with a Pantech Matrix Pro and it worked fine. The only problem is when the screen dims, then goes to the lockscreen, then the screen shuts off, the phone shuts down immediately! Also I could not figure out how to access the settings because it was meant for a PPC. Any ideas?
Try to edit settings via registry values in HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2
try adjusting your backlight settings, to time out longer.

It works just fine on my Q..on screen shows the battery charging....i'm using S2U2 v2.41..because it's difficult to editing the s2u2 setting ( b'cause Q is not touch screen.. ) so i use my mobiler apps to control it through PC...

Try this latest version 2.43 of S2U2, it really works fine on Windows Mobile Smartphone 320x240, specially for Motorola Q CDMA or Samsung GT-C6625 Valencia but settings mode cannot be access, so you should try to edit settings manually via registry values in HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2 and goodluck...
Hi there!
I have been searching for a solution to this problem for quite some time now but I haven't found a solution... Maybe someone here has an idea?
I want to lock my device in landscape mode! I don't want it to rotate to portrait mode in any circumstance! But I just seem to be unable to do so...
I'm running Duttys 2.6 and disabled flip-it, which got rid of any auto-rotation in manila and most other programs, but two problems remain:
1) Whenever I switch from a program back to TouchFlo (hitting the home-key for example), the display switches back to portrait instead of staying in landscape.
2) Opera always does what it wants and I haven't found any solution that would enable me to disable auto-rotation in Opera.
The second problem is not a biggie... I could live with Opera rotating. But the first one is driving me mad! I always have to rotate the screen again after everytime I visit TouchFlo!
So... Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this would work, but why not enable FlipIt and have everything set @ 270 degrees and untick 0 degrees
Other alternatives would be g-sen & gyrator and try and disable 0 degrees or portrait
Obviously certain apps won't work in landscape and aren't designed to so you will always have times when you need portrait
Let me know if this worked

Ok - I'm back with a new request...
I want to be able to rotate the device manually - right now, rotating it manually works flawlessly. I assigned one of the customizable gestures of WkTask to rotate.
But I still have the first problem I have described in my opening post: Whenever I switch back to TF3D or between running apps, my HD switches back to portrait!
Any ideas?
I have searched around the forum but I've only found threads discussing landscape mode with the old manila version - but I'm running Dutty's 3 XT with the new manila!
And ofcourse I would be very thankful for any advice on how to disable rotation in Opera - even though this is not that much of a problem...
maybe if you go into settings of flip-it and goto manila.exe and untick 0degrees and only 270degrees ticked, if you do this with all the apps in the list and put the exe files of other programs you use alot in it manually and also untick 0 and tick 270, then everything should stay in landscape and cant go to portrait. hope this works for you, test it and let us know

But I want to be able to rotate to portrait too!
Keeping everything in landscape works fine with the solution Fallen Spartan posted - but I want to be able to manually rotate between Landscape and Portrait!
I have searched heaven and hell to find a way to get the D2 running in landscape view, that is for it to switch to landscape view when you rotate the screen. So far I have found apps that allows everything but manilla and its tabs (including home page) run in landscape.
Is there a way to do this?

You can make use of the Topaz drivers itself to do auto-rotation. You do not need to install additional application running in background.
There're some registry editings to be done. Nevertheless, you can use this application to help you enter those into the whitelist. You need to soft-reset after inputting all the applications you'd like to auto rotate.

Landscape manila for d2 is more annoying then useful, if you tilt the phone past the tilt point either way (portrait or landscape) it will rotate and take at least half a second to change screen, and it enerally takes more to come back to portrait. This makes it difficult to immediately read stuff or accept calls as the screens changing layout and the buttons end up in different places.
Landscape would only be useful on phones like the pro2 and it's previous variants when you need landscape while the keyboards out. Other than that just make your mail programs etc landscape capable.
There are other threads with reg keys and apps to use, just follow those and see if they give you success.
Cheers,
Scott
Graphics from the manila tabs aka TD2 homescreen are not designed for lanfscape view, therefor its like Scott (post #4) sayd, more annoying than usefull.
Thanks a lot guys. I think I see your point. Funny thing is that it was my recently installed S2U app that drove it home. It was annoying as hell when it kept switching to views.
Like the title says, what I'm looking for is some way to disable rotation for Manila 2.5/2.6 (Leo). But this means all kinds of rotation, be it via g-sensor or keyboard slide-out/slide-in.
But I want this for only manila nothing else. Everything else should be able to rotate like normal.
Example : I'm at the home screen and slide the keyboard out. This should still keep the manila in portrait.
Example 2 : I'm in messaging and have the device in landscape, either by sliding the keyboard out or otherwise. Now I press the home button to return to the home screen, without sliding the keyboard back in (to enable portrait mode). The device should now auto-rotate and go back into portrait mode for Manila automatically, so it doesn't mess up.
Ive done a lot of searching but Ive come across no such thing. Does any one have any idea or solutions? All help is appreciated.
No clue whether this will work or not....
I compared the manila reg entries for the AT&T Pure (Topaz) vs. the Tilt2 (Rhodium). And for the Tilt2 there are only 2 extra lines in the .reg:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"EnableLandscape"="true"
"ListViewHeight72"=dword:1
So you can try to set the EnableLandscape="false" and see if that works.
-e
Hmm, this helped. But not entirely. If Im in landscape in some other program and go back to the home back in now rotates back to portrait. But if I slide out the keyboard when already "home", then it glitches.
Anyway to stop it from doing that?
Try playing with the values in HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation\
Those should deal with screen rotation for the whole device. Maybe someone out there with a device with no landscape support what so ever, can give their values from this directory for what you want.
I apologise for asking a question that appears to have been asked alot, but I have been unable to find a definitive answer for my query after searching through the forums.
As I'm sure some of you have discovered with some landscape cabs, it can screw up the wonderous features of music and photo screens. So what I am looking for is a landscape cab that only manipulates the homescreen itself.
The closest thing I found was the Elegance Theme which unfortuantely forced me to hard reset my unit.
Does such a cab exist?
Cheers
I'm interested too because my previous device (HTC TP2) was able to show the homescreen in landscape modus.
Well i've managed to fudge the dialler to go landscape when handset is rotated.
But if handset is already in landscape position and i open the dialler it goes portrait and i have to move handset to portrait and back to get landscape view.
Rather frustrating when i'm driving!
Can anyone please shine any light on the homescreen issue or indeed how to get the dialler to open in landscape view when handset is in landscape position?
Update: For some reason dialler now recognises landscape view and opens in right orientation (having not changed a thing).

4th file down on first post.
Thanks for you post MalekoUk, however as stated in the 1st post of this thread there are cabs out there that screw the features of the photo album and music screens, and your suggestion is one of them.
to fix the music and image tabs after installing your landscape cab
edit reg:
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila
EnableFullscreen from 0 to 1
then with BsB tweaks (menu/Rotation) remove SENSE-manila
then you can use change screen the make manila rotate the other way so left for normal music player and rotate right for the tweaked way
thats what i do
ok i just worked out that you dont have to install a cab all you have to do is
make a string reg in HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila called EnableLandscape and set it to true and you have landscape that easy
splder. ur trick didnt work for me
