What is the difference in the China version? - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

I can buy this phone for 200$, but it is made in China. The exact same phone just made in China. I was wondering what are the things I should check to make sure they are working before I buy this phone? Also what the differences are if the phone was made in China, I say so what? Lots of things are made in China, but I am worried it might be some knock off phone :S any suggestions?

What I've read is that Chinese *clones* (T 5353) have lower hardware specs (e.g. less mp for camera). Also a normal Topaz ROM won't work on these and there're only a few ROMS for it (engl., chinese).
Better pay a bit more for a real HTC one.

All clones have 3.2mp cam, not 5mp like TD2

Well if the only difference is a lower resolution camera, thats not a huge huge deal to me. The phone itself seems really nice. However I will probably keep searching until I find something better. Thanks a lot guys

the camera may not be an issue, but the software will. and, as mentioned above, you will not be able to change to any of fine ROMs offered on this website.
pay 100 bucks more to get something 100 times more versatile...

What is the cheapest Advantage found in the market?

what is the cheapest one? in Dubai, it has been introduced for 1350 USD which is too much. anything closer to 1100 USD from any markets?
P.S. i saw the black one yesterday, for the first time, and the baby is gorgeous. the pictures you see and videos of the devicde dont do it justice IMO. it looks smaller than i thought and it looked sleek and beautiful!
thanks!
The device you saw in Dubai.....was the ROM arabic enbaled? Or it was only english?
Keyboard was also having arabic letters?
Thanks in advance.
it was english. the arabic version will not be introduced until the end of this month.
the upgrade will be offered for free. im not sure how they will approach the keyboard issue though!
me in Saudia....I purchased here for SR-5000 or USD-1300.
It is in english....I tried the arabitizer software (imignet) of universal and P3600 to alteast make it recongnize arabic and have a arabic virtual keyboard on screen....But unfortunately it didnot work....I think it is not compatible with the Advantage's ROM.
hmmm..
perhaps htc will release some updated roms soon. the guy told me it is going to be available on their website and on a CD!!
not sure but how often do you use the physical keyboard? isnt the virtual one more usable in general?
it looked sweet though. bu ttoo expensive. perhaps the price will drop a bit once the nokia E90 is released (end of this month from what i have been hearing).
for me its a choice of of the following:
-advantage
-E90
-E61i
E61i has a very favorable price tag which i may got for eventually. but the black advantage looked really sweet!
yes, virtual key board is awesome....and arabic on it would be just perfect....I do not carry keyboard...only advantage...
Well I also thought about E90...but I was unable to make comparison....because one is symbain and another runs windows-5...there are thousand things that we can run on WM OS....that we can not on symbian....E-90 will only play movies in MP-4 and rm version (this sucks).
It is having the same GPS chip and software that N95 is having and tell you what, GPS on N95 is hopeless and a major disappointment.
I heard the way we play on multiple programs on Advantge, it is not possible very effectiely on E-90 because of low speed process and RAM. There is no TV output as well....and Mirco soft office compability and syncronization with E-90 is horrible as well.
So for me....HTC Advantage was the only choice and I am happy with it I just miss arabic on it though

I actually was going to purchase from them, because they state on their website that if you find merchandise cheaper somewhere else, they will match the price. The only thing is that i could not locate a phone number, address etc. anywhere on the website.Only an email address. When you are transferring that kind of money, you would like to speak to someone on the phone or have your nerves be at ease by knowing for a fact that it is not a scam.Same complications arose when the outbreak of the JASJAR arose. There were several people making ficticious websites scamming people. They also were price gouging people(charging 70.00 for shipping). So for me i like to speak to someone on the phone as well as be able to know that they are well established. No offense my friend.

HD 2 Fake?

Hey Guys,
I've seen very cheap a HTC HD2:
http://www.fastcardtech.com/goods-4...ual+sim+standby+Quadband+256M512M+80M+AF.html
But it's a fake, isn't it?
But if the Windows Mobile is original (what I think), am I then able to flash it with another ROM which is made for the original HTC HD2?
Greets,
Leofx
defo fake anyway...you can see by the 3 sensors on the front and the back of the phone
. It sure looks good to me but the price can likely get one hd2 already maybe a used one on ebay . The street fighter screen, WM 6.5, the messengers , online tv and the rmvb player sure is a winner .Remark:1G cpu, Smart phone, 8.1M AF Camera, WIFI, GPS, Dual sim cards Quadband Muti-touch Capacitive screen Huge memory 8GB
Accessories:2 batteries (1350mAh)/a charger/earphone/data wire
Yes, fake... Never mentions HTC... Brand = OEM lol...

Its a fake, check out their Sony Ericsson X10, it doesn't even have Sony Ericsson or X10 written on it.
As it isn't a real HD2, I doubt a ROM would work.

I didn't watch the other things of the shop yet, but i think they have great mobiles, pc's and accesoires
EDIT:
theyve got a diamond 2 fake too, with wm and android; so it seems to be that they used the xdandroid o0:
http://www.fastcardtech.com/goods-4...50M+Camera+624MHz+wifi+Gps+Fm+2G+tf+free.html
its very cheap, so i think its a cracked wm...
but if its really the xdandroid, than the roms from here seem to be working!?
i would maybe buy 1 of them, but i think the shipping is very expensive (i didnt find any price yet...) and i think the duty dont like mobile fakes like this^^
sorry for my bad english...
whyPad.........running android......
kinda tempted to buy this piece of crap.......
I bought a phone called Meizu now, it seems to be very good, it has Windows CE.
I hope its as good as on the videos^^
Fastcardtech are reliable. But keep in mind that if you order using Paypal you will have to pay an extra Paypal fee.
Thanks, but I didn't bought at Fastchardtech.
Someone I know, who told me about the HD 2 Fake too, got it much cheaper for me
So I've paid 230$ for a phone with a glass, capatsitive Touchscreen with Windows CE and a very nice UI (if its how it seems on the pictures/videos) and WiFi. The only thing thats missing is GPS, but a forum for chinamobiles told me its no problem to connect a GPS-Mouse via Bluetooth
It sounds brilliant. Please keep us updated with how the phone actually works out for you.
I'd also be interested to know what the build quality is like i.e. if it breaks very quickly.

It's got everything an ipad's missing, only downsides are smaller screen and not capacitive :-( Plus a lot of other things.... yet, not bad!
Yes, I will.
But the money still isn't on my PayPal account, so I think it takes a while till it comes...
Hello, I think I also bought a Fake HD2 from ebay. I am curious, did you file a complaint with eBay? I am going to deal with this now and I am curious on how others are dealing with the situation. Thanks, Andre
I forgot to say that on mine everything works. I can use the GPS, etc. The only thing is that the IMEI is not in any HTC database. I've called HTC and they say that the phone was not made by them. I wonder that is why I was able to pay $300 for when it was listed as a new item.

Help! Just got sold a weird HD2

I bought a HD2 off of ebay, and just got it today. I was so happy to get this one after the other broke.
But this one is seriously weird! It's got a resistive touchscreen, the buttons are smaller & compact, and the batter compartment is completely different.
I thought this might be a prototype version, but the back metal section seems like the genuine thing, except its black. Even the packaging looks genuine, except the buttons show up a bit smaller.
Anyone have any clue where this came from?
Pics: http://img703.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=img20110712112331.jpg
Are you sure it is not a Chinese clone? What does the bootloader say when starting up?
No bootloader comes up, when trying to access spl display (the tri-colour thing), it shows up calibrating, and if I press the vol-up key instead of the down, it shows up as "Downloading".
The packaging is resoundingly similar to the real thing, except that it shows the button layout of this fake phone.
I also forgot to mention that this one does not even have a home button.
Found another guy who seems to have gotten the same one as me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978588
and, don't buy this or anything that looks like this on ebay:
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...585-quadband-win6-5-GPS-WIFI-wholesalers.html
you sir, have just bought a chinese clone!
Yh, and I was so looking forward to my second HD2 and sticking android on it again. =|
I'd have pity for you if the clone would of at least had 5 buttons on the front......
it's clearly missing the "home" button, the biggest dead give away I've seen to date. Considering you've already owned a real HD2 before hand one would think you'd catch that right off the bat.
Unless of course you were presented with "real" HD2 shots under the ebay listing..... in which case i would just call him out as a fraud and file a complaint.
The youtube video from the thread you listed was quite compelling... looked pretty real in the video, outer appearance anyway, it had 5 buttons....
Yh, I feel pretty stupid, but the screenshot was too reflective to make out all of the buttons properly, and seeing how the seller had 100% feedback, and put all of the details from the real thing, I couldn't make it out as being a fake.

Looks good for the price, if you did not know any better and were happy with win mo
Even worse it states in the specs as well as in the system info picture that it only has 256M internal memory!!!!! And to top it off the brand in the spec sheet says it is a "HHH"
That really sucks, hopefully you can return it and get your money back.

I hate winmo! No offence to those that like it, but I just hate it, and I bought it from ebay - it cost the same as 2nd hand HD2's cost nowadays.
I've contacted the seller, and am awaiting reply before taking applying for dispute.
This phone is basically a TG01, but without any alpha android roms for it.

[Q] HD2 LCD screen

Hi everyone!
I got some questions but first off I'll go ahead and give the background story of everything.
I bought my HD2 about 2 years ago, now when it finally got payed of (20/01 -12) of course I dropped it for the first time ever and the lcd screen totaly 'died'. I have always loved this phone, but to send it to an repair-store is not an option as it costs 1789 SEK (Swedish 'krona') -is something like 269,03 USD. Not much maybe but for an 2 years old phone, thats too much. /Money I rather spend on a new phone..
Tomorrow I will most likely go and buy the Galaxy Nexus, but still think the HD2 is worth saving, what im thinking of is to order an LCD and try it myself. If I make it worse well, then It wont matter.
My questions:
* After searching for LCD's they say "..for model T8585"
- I guess all HD2 (exept T-mobile maybe?) has this model-nr..? On my box anyway its say T8585.
* Some stores that also say "for model T8585" also say "only US"
- Well, I guess they dont mean "only shipping in US" as its the same store/site that sells other not saying "only US". Is this model-restrictions and how will I know the screens will 'fit' my Leo?
* Is there anything else I should look for exept the model number (T8585) to be certain that it will work/fit ?
Also I will attach a picture of how the screen looks like turned on so you maybe can tell me if I need to replace more than the LCD (Digitalizer/touch screen)
I saw another, old, topic about this but the picture was gone and I guess he could see and then thereby use his cellphone to test if the touch-screen/digitalizer worked wich I cannot.
Might be hard to tell, I dunno..
-If anybody know an reliable store/site that ships to Sweden that sells screens or right screen you would make my day if you could provide me with link.
-Also if they dont/or if you dont know -ship to Sweden; please provide link.
Another question that doesnt have anything with this topic (other than I would have needed this 3 weeks ago ) if there is somewhere to find an Otterbox case for HD2? I know they dont support Leo no longer but I will purchase it for the Galaxy Nexus also so would be nice if it could be found for HD2 also.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: And yes, I have searched the forum. All I find is dead links, non-helpful etc etc.
Oh thats not so good
I dropped mine a while back and cracked the screen big time. Decided id repolace the digitizer but it was only when i got it all apart that i found i needed more expert knowledge than i possess to put it back together. Which all meant another £50 to buy a digitiser/lcd combo. Theres plenty on ebay, such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110758732279?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
You could always ask the question about whether this is the right model for you. They should be able to help.
Its a bit of a faff to fit the new screen, but if your in the middle of a contract and cant do an early upgrade it is possibly an option. Or just get another one if you can upgrade....

You should buy whole combo(LCD+touchscreen) in order to do a fine job(it will be much easier for you this way, with good quality in the end). Doing like this it doesn't matter what version/type would be (US or whatever), 'cause they are interchangeable: some rumours indicate US version to be better by quality.
Ebay could be a source for you...
Good luck!

How can one choose combo assembly?
There is one for T-Mobile HD2 and one for European HD2.

Yea I had the same question but then saw something somewhere saying that T-Mobiles version of HD2 is slightly larger (longer or wider -dont know exactly wich -or both) and therefore I will go for one that is stated for EU-model and would suggest you to do the same, depending on what type of HD2 you've got.

Samsung galaxy light (cheap lte on tmobile USA)

I have not seen much about this phone. It's a cheap ( no exact price yet) small sized phone to test out tmobile's lte if you want to think about switching away from big V like me.

1.4ghz Quad core with 1GB system memory and 8GB internal storage. It also has an 1800 mah battery and microsd.

Now $149. I'd grab it if I could root it. Zero development on this device and this is the only thread even discussing it. Shame but not surprising. You're almost better off to get an old phone that has plenty of options than a new one with none.
Sounds very interesting. I hope it will be released in Europe soon too.
I've read that that it reaches an antutu score around ~17000+. First an only 4'' phone with a quad core at the moment.!
But, does anybody know if it has a light sensor to adjust the brightness automatically?
Lol some guy wanted to trade me the Light for my One S...
Seeing that its pretty...new and no dev'ment yet, its a no.
Thats the same exact reason I got rid of my ol Boost Mobile LG Venice.
Besides, I'm not a fan of mediocre carrier service.
It sounds appealing though, i mean 1gb ram tied in with quad core, clocked at 1.4GHz not bad.
But its using TFT screen technology sized at 4 inches, a 5mp cam and a 0.3mp front. What sort of odd combo is that?
At least they should have given it an AMOLED then maybe the miniature screen would make some sense.
If you ask me, its like a merged Galaxy Prevail and a Galaxy S. Good for those who want something cheap yet preformance
worthy (I guess) but for a quad core device, ratings for it on many review sites are depressingly low. Hey at least it
has NFC, but still all that preformance on a TFT screen will make playing games feel like your on an older device.
I think the screen alone was a let down for me.
It does not make my list, nor capture my attention. My guess is, NAY.
I just got this phone. Any clue how to root it? I don't want to brick it following the s4 method.
Does anyone know how to network unlock this phone?
I just got this phone before leaving on vacations and can't seem to find a way to network unlock it so that I can use it outside the U.S.
I have tried all popular unlocking methods for S3's and S4's but none seems to work.
There is another thread about rooting this phone, but noone has figured out how to do it, just yet. I guess the new kernel is causing some issues. Anyway, the other thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539232 I will be picking this phone up as soon as I am able. The small size and the quad core and the speed is also what I have read. As I am not a gamer, the screen is fine. LTE and NFC are features I would use. It's like Samsung figured out that if a user isn't gaming, a big high-end screen isn't as important as speed of connectivity. The gamers have the S4. The rest of us get the Light.

There is one. Stock, but debloated and optimized. I have not tried it myself yet, as I don't have a 2nd phone in case things go awry, But it looks very promising.

He also said he's going to attempt a Cyanogenmod 11 port. And if you excuse the archaic vernacular, that would be the bees' knees.
FYI, you can get the Galaxy Light brand new from T-Mobile for $100 right now.

Mine is rooted stock and I agree, Lightwave looks nice. The price at t-mobile just came down and I suspect Samsung will be ending the Light and releasing something of lower quality. You can't beat 4 bucks a month. Snap it up while you can.

So I was going to try the LightWave ROM but I have some concerns... Is this going to lock my SIM out, and keep me from accessing my network? Because,I also do not have a second phone to goof off with this one, and if I brick (or worse, get locked out of the data network)I'm screwed. So does anyone know if this locks out T-Mobile's network? Thanks in advance!
On an irrelevant side note, if anyone is using a stock (w/root) ROM and are tired of TouchWiz, I actually figured out how to dump it! There is an app in the Google Play store called "System app remover (ROOT)" and all i did was looked for touchwiz in the app and deleted it. Sorry for rambling.

I can't guarantee you won't brick your phone. Nobody can guarantee anything when you start flashing things. Once you have TWRP though, it's really hard to screw things up irreparably.

That's dangerous. I wouldn't recommend doing that, but if you must, always do backups first.
