hourly alarm notification app or something? - Nexus One General

Ok I like to do mini excercises every hour on the hour when I'm awake or at work getting into shape and staying there. my question is, is there an app for an hourly alarm?
I don't really want to set 16 alarms in the alarm menu. I'm just curious if there is some kind of beast out there and what it would be called..

You could use Tasker to run between 09:00-20:00 with an hourly repeat, outputing an MP3 and a visual prompt.
It can be tricky to get started, but once learnt is really useful.
Not in the market yet, and in beta but it's not bad.

Why not use the calendar to schedule it every hour and add a notification to the entry??

tried the calender it didn't work I'm using the other method suggested and it works like a charm. thanks all.

Any new ALARM CLOCK programs out there?

Hey guys,
Anyone know of any new alarm clock programs out there that have a large snooze button so i don't accidently turn off the alarm like i always do now with pocket travel alarm?
Thanks
JW
When you say new, have you tried all the old ones already?
There are a number of good options out there...
Have a look through here and pocketpc freewares

I tried it for a few times and I do quite like it over the PocketWakeup, due to its (travel alarm) nice looking interface. However, I went back to PocketWakeup anyway. Reasons:
(1) Travel alarm does not include a vibrate feature
(2) There is always a thread/process of travel alarm running at the background, which I'm not sure if helps on my slow Charmer processing power and/or the battery life.

I'm using that now and I always press the stop button on accident. So its not working out...
This is a good alarm & its free, never let me down yet. http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/alarmclock.shtml
Don't know of any new ones. I use the alarm from MortPlayer. It is very basic, but does the job. I can use my MP3 as the alarm. I had it fail once because my phone didn't recognize my media folder on the storage card. It wasn't isolated to MortPlayer so I can't blame it on the program.

Yep, I've used that one too and have no complaints about it. It seems to work pretty well and has never let me down either.
I have been using MTUX AlarmX for a couple years. It isn't quite up to date (doesn't support landscape for example). And it's pretty basic (no MP3s, no repeating alarms) but then the interface is also simple. It is easy to set up to two alarms, alarm sounds, End or Snooze an alarm. I periodically try other programs, but always come back to this.

Sound alert when missed call or message?

My Motorola phone has the greatest feature where it sounds an alert every min or so if I have missed a call or message, until I dismiss it.
Anyone know of a small app or other way to get the Hermes to do this.
Thanks for any help.
Give PocketMax PhoneAlarm a try. Apart from its repeating alarm functionality it also gives you the option of Profiles again soothing missing in the operating system.

There's eve a free version called Phonealarm Lite and it still has all the alarm features as the pay package.
I just set under sounds and nottifications under the missed call tab to the sound of my choice and repeat.
So basiacly I now get a small shirp that beeps every second until I check it.
You can't pick the interval with using the defualt, but it is better than nothing.
I have never installed PhoneAlarm Lite so I cannot comment.
However on the full version you can set the duration after which the missed call, e-mail, SMS, etc sounds would repeat.

Yes I had done this but I don't have the option to repeat - it is greyed out, so it only plays once. Wonder why you have it?

The Lite version does the exact same thing, however, it's not actually free as I posted above. Apparently I was having a "senior moment" .
Thanks for the suggestions.
Tried Phone Alarm Lite which does what I want but it has just too much stuff. Really don't want my Today screen messed with.
I would have thought something very simple would be easy to create and very popular. As mentioned the options are ALMOST already in the OS
When I see some of the ridiculous progs that people write I can't believe that no one has turned their attention to this. (e.g. Menstural Cycle Calculator so you know when not to invite your gf for a swim!)
Damn. So close yet so far...
Found what seemed to be the perfect app but I can't get it to work on my Hermes.

Guess I'll just nave to keep looking
You could try Pocket Zen Phone:
http://www.pocketzenphone.net/PZPForum/index.php
I think this can be used with just an icon in the tray, and supports repeating alarms.
I haven't used it for ages myself, but you could try it.

Not to state the obvious, but have you checked Settings > Sounds & Notifications to ensure that notifications isn't unticked?
I am using SPB phone suite which has profiles.
I checked notifications is ticked.
Is it just that the notification tone isn't playing?
There was a bug with some of Dutty's roms that if your notification tone wasn't set to the default one, it wouldn't sound at all.
Yes no notification alarm or pop up.
So I have an appointment for 10 am and I put a 30 min reminder. I will get no reminder, the profile will switch to meeting mode automatically but no popup reminder or sound notification.
Im using the stock ROM.
Some one please help.
I had the same problem few months ago but after about a week time it started to work again itself. I don't know why it didn't work. Since then the problem didn't appear any more.
I suspected S2U2 but I don't know if it was the reason.

I have not made any changes except uninstalling SPB imageer.

Not sure what culprit is, but you could backup your contacts/emails etc, do a hard reset and see if problem still exists on bare rom. If it doesn't, install one software at a time, test if it works, then proceed with next app until you find possible culprit
I noticed that changing the patterns in calendar from "occur once" to any more complicated, like "from Tuesday to Friday" i.e. might be responsible for the problem. Few months ago I started to create more advanced remainders in calendar and after couple days it stopped remind me of any event.
I didn't notice where the problem was, because the problem didn't appear instantly but after 2-3 days.
Few days ago I tried to edit patterns and two days later the problem came back again.
Could someone investigate this issue on his own HTC to confirm the source of the problem, please.
Is there any update for calendar?
PS. Sorry for my poor English.

Well after 2 days it went back to working by it self.
Its working fine now.
I do have 1 complex reminder. Basically it says remind me every 24th of the month for the coming 3 years
But thats still working normally.
It stopped again. I have not modified anything.
I had that problem too. The free app pmClean fixed it for me:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-pmclean-v1-06.html
You can set it to automatically repair the Notification Queue every day, which seems to fix the problem with reminders not triggering
alltruism,
I have Memmaid and used to find duplicates/dangling/expired/invalid and it found nothing.
Ill try the app you mentioned and hopfully it fixes it.
Ok in downloaded and installed PMclean v1.07 and i cleaned notifications. The first time I had like 27 and then after the cleaning it said 42. Then further cleaning just locked it at 42. Arent the numbers supposed to come down?
Anyway, I restarted and then tested. It worked, I tested again and it worked.
Wow thanks a lot Alltruism, but how come my Memmaid could not pick up on those Notification Que anomalies?

Alarm Doesn't Work!

Using Enom's or Cy's ROM...(with the Nextheme and Goodies)...the alarm doesn't go off at 530am!
Anybody know if it's the ROM itself or the Theme+Goodies? Or do I need to experiment myself? (I've experimented with setting the alarm to go off an hour after I set it....it worked...but not sure if it worked because I was playing with the phone at the time)
All I get when I wake up is the trackball blinking. I've read somewhere that the alarm turns itself off after an hour...but I wake up around 5 minutes after the alarm was supposed to have gone on.
Good thing I used a backup alarm...otherwise I'd be in deep Sh------------it!
My alarm didn't go off today, but did yesterday. I have the clock as ignore in my task killer.
What I have found is that my ringtones somehow get lost on the SD card and not played. I am not sure what is happening!!!
Not cool though.

If you use any sort of task killing application and do not ignore or exclude the clock, it will kill it, and your alarm along with it.
Problem is that I ignore the Clock.
But when I go to check the Alarm Ringtone, and press play, it doesn't play anything, just a VERY LOW beep. Worked yesterday, nothing today.
Very odd!!

I like to push the audio files to the system and into it's corresponding folder. Maybe you can try that.
For me...I totally forgot about task manager! I never thought of it because the Alarm Icon is always displayed on the notification bar next to the time...whether the clock is killed or not. I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning after I exclude the clock app from being killed.
Kind of makes me wish the Android 'stole' some stuff from the Blackberry.
Can you explain that a bit more? How would I do that?
Will Astro work?
I honestly think it is an SD issue and yes, I never had that problem with my blackberry. They keep the ringtones on the system memory and you never have to worry about it.

I'm guessing that it will only work with a rooted phone. (Mine is) This is what I use. Root Explorer. I take the files from the SD card and move it into the system/media/audio/alarms directory.
Not sure if Astro is able to access the root of the phone. Otherwise I guess you can use
adb push alarmfilename.mp3 /system/media/audio/alarms
Either way you do it...reboot the phone.
Got it, and done, thanks.
Will see if this works.

[Q] Good alarms?

Currently, I use Klaxon, and I adore it. However, it periodically just stops working (the alarm will randomly not go off, and continue to not work until I uninstall and reinstall). This, of course, is a problem - Why use an alarm that fails to work?
I am looking for a new Alarm program, and was wondering if you knew of a good one?
*The default one is too quiet and lacks the snoozes I need.

Download BsB tweaks and you can set WM to have more snooze intervals.
Try G-Alarm. It is a really good one. I use it and it works fine for me. Has a good amount of alarm options on it. Hope this helps.
good alarm
I have been using g alarm for a good while and it has been really great. I like that I can set the vol to increase gradually. One complaint is that after a while the gradual increase became irregular.
I have been using SPB Time for years. It works very well. It's not free, but I think they have a demo available in the Marketplace. Worth the money, in my opinion.

+1 on G-Alarm. More reliable for me than Klaxon. I like the ability to use 2 sound files, which creates a random alarm you can't ignore!
One little quirk: be careful when setting same-day alarms, because G-Alarm defaults to the next day. You have to manually hit the back arrow on the date when setting an alarm.
+1 on G-Alarm. I have been using it since last year. It is great, you can have many alarms and set it for different times on different days, it's great because I can have different alarms for weekdays and weekends. You can also have each alarm ring for longer or shorter and you can have it so you have to answer math questions or do puzzles to turn off. Try answering 16-7 when you are half awake, it will wake you up!

+1 maybe not free but RELAYABLE!!!!
Thank you! I will definitely try it!
I have the cracked version. Go on the piratebay and search wm apps and a torrent should come up having a whole bunch of stuff for windows mobile including SPB Time.
