hi, i was trying to update my x2 with seus(sony ericsson update service), and, when the seus finish the rom download, and start to install it, the progress bar doens't start, and i disconnect it, and now, my phone don't want to turn on.
please help me.
and sorry for my bad english.
you should hardreset ( i think that should work tho.. ) im not sure how to hard reset an x2 but i think its similar to x1
put the pen in the small hole when you take the battery cover off and press at the same time 2 buttons on the front of the device.. ( or google it )
thank you, i'll let you know.
nop, it doesn't work :S
You could just try to run SEUS again, even while the phone appears dead. It may still be able to update the ROM. Good luck.
If your phone doesn't power on at all, then charge the battery
If your phone does power on but doesn't boot, enter bootloader (volume down + power) and SEUS again
i charged the battery, all the night, with a universal battery charger, and nothing, i cant enter bootloader, i can't do nothing, please, help me.

how can i do that, if when if press turn on+ volumen down, the cellphone don't do nothing?
no one can help me?
have you tried contacting sony?? explain to them what happened and ask if theres a way to hard reset the X2.
alternatively try to get it replaced. ive got a feeling that you update at your own risk so maybe contact them and say it died all by itself (dont mention you tried updating the firmware) and see if you can get a replacement. you should be covered by the manufacturers 12month warranty considering theyve only been making them a few months. if you dont have a reciept because it was from ebay or somewhere then say it was a christmas gift. if you do have a reciept then take it back where you got it.
i already did it, but i explain everything how it was, i told him that i was trying to update th soft, and i told him that i bought from ebay, he told me that the xperia has international guaranty, and i can send it to the sony ericsson repair center, but, i leave in dominican republic, so i want to try all that i can, before i send it.
thats good then. i think your best bet is to get the replacement. sounds like you have tried almost everything you can already. plus if you get a replacement you might have one with the upcoming new firmware already on it
yes, but now, i don't have de money for the shipping cost
they make you pay to send it back?? thats a bit unfair. might be your only option though. noone knows how to hard reset the X2 and youve already tried applying the firmware update again. dont think theres much else you can do.
New software update
Great news! Sony-Ericsson said they will be releasing an updated software at the end of this month. I would recommend strongly going to "www-sonyericsson-com-slash-update" instead, which was announced by the Xperia X2 product manager some time ago. If you update your phone with this new official software, I think your problem will go away.
website link?
By the way, how did you get to the seus (updateservice, not the official 'update') site to get the X2 software to download and install? I just tried going there and couldn't find X2 yet.
concerning hard reset try holding the "sym" key while it is powering up.

not sure what you mean... theres an X2 support page on the sony ericsson website. you can download the updater program and it will check your firmware and update it if necessary. the update software is the same for all sony phones so download it anywhere from the site. when you start it up thats where you select the X2.
finally!! i got my phone back, they send me a new one!!
thanks for helping me!
dam, i have the exactly same problem as you dude, my x2 died in a soft update, the thing is : i cant got a new one from SE cause i'm in chile and the was bought in ebay usa, i dont even know where can i send it back cause the man who sold me the phone just dissapear...lol

Hello!
So, a brand new MDA Compact, and a weird problem.
Sometimes, when I 'switch it off' via the Power button - it stayes switched off?! :?
Simple as that - the only way to turn it back on is to do a soft-reset...
The signal LED blinks just like everything is OK...
I tried with 4 different ROM combinations, from 1.06 to 1.13, nothing helped...
Does anybody have an idea what to do with it?
BTW,
which ROM did you find the most fastest, most stable etc.?
Thanx in advance.
Someone must do a sticky or a FAQ topic for this sort of prob that so many people are starting to encounter.
If u do some experiment on ur compact, u can easily see that the device isn't waking up only when is COLD (I believe that there is some heat-sensible contacts inside that prevents unit to power on) this may seems strange, I thought I was the only to had this prob, but I am seeing more and more of this.
Sorry, but unless u want to manually open the whole thing and try to repair for urself, u're better getting it to the nearest repairing center.
If u do so, remember always to install the original ROM, since they can say that is a software manomission problem and will sending u back the device with no warranty (they already did it with me: but I can't believe that I regained the warranty simply putting it the original software and sending it in the same repairing center; before they asked me 275€ for mainboard, now they repaired it for free!!!)
So here is it. I've passed a winter with the unit always in coma. Send it to the repair center, say that it doesn't power on when cold and they will repair it..
Good luck! MocciJ

So you say there's no other solution then to take it to the service center?
Damn!
Anybody have an original ROM that came with the Croatian T-Mobile MDA Compact's?
CE ROM in it was 1.06, I am sure of that, but where to find ExtROM that was used here?
As far I know, this is the only possible solve, unless someone decides to open the magician (voiding the warranty) and see what's wrong on it.. For the ROM: u have to install at least a rom with same brand and language of the original; u're better try first at the ftp before searching on the net..
I have an unlocked Xperia
When I tried to re-flash the firmware through the sonyericsson update, it got stock at 10 %. Removed the cable, removed the battery and now the phone is dead.
It is even not starting not the three color screen - JUST NOTHING
Like a dead peice.
Tried the mtty but it is not recognizing - which is logical as the device is dead.
Any idea ?
Use the warranty.
I guess you are using Vista?????
If so, use a XP driven system and you will be fine again.
Chris
no mate
it was XP
oops. Sorry to hear.

For how long you used before re-flashing?
It was good or dis you noticed something out of the ordinary?
After re-flashing you still have a warranty?

I used for around 3 days.
I was trying a lot of localizing software - that is why I thought reflashing is good to choose one only.
I think that warranty is there - it is all SE update service which spoiled the gadget

Localizing softwares don't need reflashing, only a soft reset. Did you try a hard reset after the installations?
Hiya mate, try and run the Sony software update again, I doubt you have any luck though.
I had the same problem as you mate, mine stops at 11% no matter how many time I repeat the update (vista 32bit and 64bit)
I called up Sony technical support and apparently there is no replacement firmware, strange I know, Although Sony gives you the option to use the update service there is no update files to flash the firmware,
I was told the only fix for this problem is at Sony, all I can suggest is you send the unit back to your supplier, as they will hold a warranty, usually, for items found faulty within the 1st 30 days thw supplier usually ship out a brand new one rather than getting the unit fixed,
Or alternatively contact Sony support centre
Hope this help you mate, good luck
i think i read somewhere that someone did a hard reset and it worked...so try that...
I am 100% sure this is a vista fault as confirmed by SE, it also happens on XP64 ( occasionally ) your xp must be upto date ( not fully, just not pre sp2 ) - a hard reset will not work as the software has been wiped and partially over written so there is nothing to recover it from. but i assure you if your screen is saying 11% and the handset is saying 10% then it is a very well known fault which is easily rectified by using a xp machin with flash player, and a full battery.
(first of all, I didn't knew where else to post this topic to ask this, excuse me if it's posted somewhere wrong)
So I kinda gave up on my magic, R.i.P.
now i was wondering...
that if I take my phone back to the store... and that i shouldn't get a new one immediatly, bcuz they have to send it to htc facotry... how big is the chance they will know I rooted it and it didn't just mallfunction from its own?
or isn't it possible that they just throw in some new rom? They made it so it shouldn't be to hard to get that fixed...
anyone perhaps has experience with sending back his phone or going back to the store?
tell me what happened... did you get a new one, did you had to pay something to get it fixed or just bought a new phone...
all information is welcome either here on the board or by email first_dimension at hotmail dot com <-
thanks ahead guys...
greetings
a desperate dumazz belgian guy who ****ed up his phone badly
What has actually happened to your phone, can you describe the problem please, it may not have to go back to the repair center. Thanks
uhm, while flashing it, it fell down of my desk, battery got disconnected, ...
now i get my "proximus" (wich is my mobile provider) startup screen, wich doesn't go away
cant enter boot menu (by pressing menu + power on)
nor safe mode (home + power on)
cant even connect to my computer to flash a new rom or anything...
so it's completely bricked i been looking on the internet for days now tried every solution...
nada man...
nothing more than my startup screen...
(edit)
the only thing i can still do is like, when i hit the trackball and power on button it lights up a blue led...
but i read every magic does that even if not bricked...
I heard that someone thought they bricked their phone because they couldn't do anything with all the button combinations but when they tried fastboot it worked and unbricked their phone. I mean he didn't go into fastboot, he just plugged his phone in via usb and just tried fastboot.
I'm saying try fastboot. If that doesn't work then I'm sorry but you have to return it to get it fixed but since they can't get into anything I'm sure they won't know that it is bricked.
thanks for the reply m8, but i tried this already...
just sais waiting for device or sumthing...
i think i read that answer on some other board aswell that someone was lucky enuf to have that but not here, not in my case
bummer i guess...
My carrier offers insurance to replace a phone even if it was lost or stolen. If this was an option for you, I guess you would have already thought about reporting it "stolen," but I figured I'd mention it anyway.
Sorry to hear about your phone.
I bricked my mytouch and I just called T-mo customer service and they're sending me a replacement for free since it's still under warranty.
Hey there guys
I thought I would start up this thread for those of us who have debranded there handsets to post any and all problems we have encountered after debranding so we can discuss them and hopefully find a way to solve one anothers problems.
I'd just like to stress though that this is not a thread for learning how to debrand, if you want to know that Follow these instructions
This is also not a thread for sorting out problems relating to not being able to debrand, there's a thread for that and it's loacated HERE
So with that out of the way, i've noticed that since debranding my clock doesn't stay synchronised with my network anymore which is odd. Anyone else experiencing these problems or any other problems?
Cheers
John
same problem with the clock, although not sure if it was like that before the debrand, its on manual now instead of auto update.
Guys my pc switched off while debranding, now stuck with a X10 which after the initial SE start-up screen only shows an exclamation mark (!) and does not boot or connect to pc companion or the update service anymore. The phone is initially recognized as a SE phone and pc companion instructs you to mount the sd card which is difficult when there is nothing but an X10 and ! image on the screen.
Use SEUS and connect using back button and inserting cable =).
The clock has nothing to do with debranding, at my stock Rom its the same in O2...

Doesn't connect here's what happens
Update Service - Connects after the above method but gives an error for internet connection something about 'unable to download your phone software'.
PC Companion - Shows as detected SE phone and states 'Drag status bar downward, tap usb connected, tap mount....'. However when you can only see an image of the X10 with a triangle with an "!" in it, your left with nothing to drag down or click.
While trying my luck with different combination of hard buttons found one combination (back button, camera button, power button, volume buttons...) which prompts to Installing SE ROM... on the status bar on my pc, tring to figure out which combo did that.
Don't want to take the phone to the local SE dealer even though it's under warranty as the service centre takes between 14 days to a month even on basic problems.
Off-topic does anyone where I can get an original white Xperia X10 housing, my local SE dealer has been posting full page ads for the phone in the local paper but will have no parts available till end May.
Rgds.
Keep trying with SEUS, the problem your having with that is down to there servers, not your phone. If you keep trying you'll eventually get through.
As for the white housing, I know for a fact Ebay has some authentic white housing for about $50 I think and it comes with the necessary toolshed for the job. Fair warning though you will lose you warranty if you open your device up.

Tried over 30 times over 2 days same as above unable to download, I think it has more to do than servers being busy.
The housing is to be handed over to the local SE dealer to fit, as they won't have the housing or any other parts till end of May.
Is there any other way to recover my phone without taking it to the dealer, I bought it on launch date here, reason for debranding was to get Android market with is not allowed in this region by the Telecom Regulatory Authority, so all Android phones for the market have the app missing. We can buy grey market phones (meant for other regions about USD 100 cheaper but no warranty), for a phone which almost cost me USD 850 that did not make much sense.
Full page ads daily in the local papers now for almost a month must cost the dealers quite a lot, wish they invested that kind of money on customer service (by bringing parts for the phone before they launch it). If this was a Nokia, the dealer promises a 2 day service and repair or replacement here, well so much for the warranty.
Rgds,
Ali
Weirdly, the timings reflecting in my FB, twitter posts actually synchronised after debranding. Previously, it reflected as weird timings.
For e.g. if I had posted something, instead of showing 0 mins ago, it shows -23hours or 1890mins ago.
After debranding, all the time issues have been resolved.

Are you sure we're talking "rooting" here?
From the symptoms it sounds more like you attempted a boot loader unlock on a device that's past 11W29 and hard bricked it...
Q: If you connect the phone to the charger, does it show the battery symbol with the "flash" above it? Does the green LED light up?
If yes: Battery almost empty. Charge it up.
If no: No way we're talking "I rooted my phone" here - in that case you attempted a boot loader unlock that went wrong.

Read what B.Jay posted and what 2010matej posted.
If these things don't work, you have a $90 paperweight on your hands.

Since you already searched for a repair possibility I think the talk about "I rooted my phone and suddenly it won't turn on anymore" is off the table and should be taken as "I unlocked my boot loader without checking the forums and hard bricked it now".
Anyhow, I don't think you'll have much luck asking for someone having a RIFFBox around here in the X8 area - the average age of the guys in here is 16-18 at best.
If you think you're better off trying to find someone who could take a stab at trying to resurrect the phone I'd rather put a post into a fitting sub board at the "General discussion" section.
The best option would be to send it off to SE, given you should still have warranty (though no one can guarantee that they will repair it for free).
the problem is that this is the new phone !
Send if off to SE for repair and "play dumb".
Like: "It suddenly doesn't work anymore."
IF it's a hard brick due to boot loader unlocking the chances are pretty slim they will notice what you did.
If it's some sudden hardware problem (and you didn't mess around with the boot loader) - same recommendation - send it to SE for repair.
Of course you could also try to handle the repair through the shop where you bought the phone in case you have no means to send it directly to SE.

Exactly pauk1998, chill. I mean tge phone's dead right ? How are they to proove you tried to unlock bl ? As far as i know, all evidence was destroyed with the hard brick. If its still very new, like less than a month, i think SE wont bother repairing it and just give you a new one

Of course there is.
Depending on where you bought it, they'll plug it into a computer and see that you tried to mod the phone, at which point they'll say that your warranty is void.
Unless you bought it from a store full of idiots. Then they might just take it back, no questions asked.
