XT9 function doesn't work - HD2 General

Hi all
I have tried searching this forum but can't find an answer to my problem. Yesterday I installed the 1.66 ROM WWE from HTC and now I notice that when I try to use XT9 nothing happens, it just types blank, no functionality at all. I was wondering if someone can post their XT9 part out of their registry so I can either import it or verify if something is missing in mine why it's not working.
Thanks in advance for your replies!

the bad news is...(and correct me if I'm wrong) but nobody has yet been able to identify the XT9 dictionary parts..I'd love to be able to export mine so that I don't have to update it evrytime I do a hard reset, but..so far..this isn't possible

Well, can you help me by posting this part of your registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\
I would like to see what is missing because a friend of mine did the same upgrade last night and he retained his XT9 functionality, appearantly something went wrong with mine and the sad part is is that I only found it out after I reinstalled everything which took me almost 3 hours!
Thanks in advance!

I would reflash, as you don't know what else hasn't worked. Its 3 hours again, but might be more in the future when you noticed other stuff missing?

damn, I'll wait... I'm on the job as it is, so can't really fix the problem now. I was reluctant to install this 1.66 ROM, I think I will go back to my 1.48 ROM tonight, at least I never had problems with that one. This sucks!

now this is weird, XT9 only works with Phone Keypad function, not with Compact QWERTY or Full QWERTY. Anybody got this problem as well and using the same ROM version?? Seems like they forgot to add something in the ROM....

I've never upgraded from 1.48 either...it may have it's bugs...but it has less than ALL the other ROMS I've tried

Can't nobody help me by posting there registry settings?? Or sending me the registry entry??

Best Performing ROM to date

Hi,
I just got my hermes back from being repaired. They had to change the whole board inside and thus there is a new (Chinese!) rom on it. I need to install an English ROM again as well as change the keyboard layout (what fun!).
Can anyone tell me which ROM seems to have the least problems right now? I looked through a number of threads but its hard when they are 10+ pages each.
Thanks in advance.
I found LSV's WM6 was heaps heaps faster than other roms I've used in the past....navigating on it felt very quick and responsive.
Only problem I had with it was I had to apply the ATI fix from a thread Slueth posted to resolve. I found the ATI bux only affected the mediaplaying program Coreplayer. And I also had to apply Slueth's A2DP fix as well...after that perfect skip free music from both bitpool set to 30 and 48 (can be set by TweakUI in Start->settings->system->TweakUI).
Can anyone help me out with a recommendation?
Use LVSW
See my signature for the link, but it is the BEST one out there, VERY stable, excellent battery life, etc, etc
I think the best ROM is Black 2.5... no wait it's Custel... hmmmm maybe I'm wrong and want to vote for LVSW or even wait for Kyphur to re-surface (sorry I nearly forgot my favourite Dutty).....
Oops, Chinese alcohol taking over brain, but seriously, no one can really answer this. The people who think XXXX is the best rom do so because it is the best for them - works well with their radio, applications, service provider, Hermes variant etc etc.
The only way to find out is to try them AND try for a few days at least to get a real feel for the stability based on your own useage.
Personally I've now stuck with the LVSW rom for a while (on a UK vodafone VPA1605). I guess that you may have an X01HT because of the Chinese rom and I've just read that some other user had problems with this rom on his X01HT - so even there I can't recommend something which works so well for me.
BUT, have lots of fun trying them all - I did.

Input problems with ABC type input

Hello there,
after finally repairing my nikes screen, i upgraded to one of those new wm6.5 roms (the ones from NemanjaLO ). Everything works great, except one problem with typing on my 16-key nike: if i type a letter, and remove it before it gets unmarked, it will appear again as soon as i try to continue typing! other people confirmed this issue, however we seemed to be ignored / no one had a solution.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
BJK found an issue with this a while back when he was doing the EZInput 1.5 cabs. Can't remember how he sorted it but might be worth checking the thread in Development and Hacking.
I have the same problem also and I too find it very irritating.
Did you find anything on this?

No numbers on Full Qwerty keyboard...

Dunno what happened, I've updated with the latest 2 ROM updates (office enhancements and notifications enhancements) for my phone, but I seem to have lost the numbers from my full QWERTY keyboard.
I can get numbers by pressing and holding the letter keys, but by pressing ".,123" I only get 8 keyboards to choose from, and none have any numbers.
In the main this isn't a prob, except if you're in contacts when you can only enter a number, but the keyboard won't let you.
I've used HD tweak in the past, but not for T9 input.
I've since uninstalled the 2 ROM updates and the keyboard hasn't changed.
The forums have loads of cases of being stuck in number mode, but none where the keyboard won't allow numbers.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers!
Just found a similar experience with the ROM updates.

Guess we'll have to wait to one of you clever people to work this one out.
Thanks!
Strangely, I have the same symptom after the above mentioned hotfixes. Unfortunately, uninstalling the hotfix doesn't help and having a hard reset is not an option that I'm looking at right now. I've already escalated this to the HTC support and waiting for them to release a fix. In the meanwhile, I'll either use the compact QWERTY or use the Full QWERTY without the numbers tab
Hi there,
Same here, after install the latest fixes from the website I only have 8 keyboard pages while using FULL QWERTY. The numbers page has dissappeared.
Uninstalling the 2 fixes did NOT recover this problem.
I also want to avoid a HARD RESET.
Any clever ideas.

Menno
Hi There,
I have since logged a fault with HTC and they have investigated and just called me back.
The advice is that I will have to reflash (sigh!) the device with a new ROM which will apparently be available from their support site later today/tonight(?).
In fact, the site had been taken down as I am typing this.
Let's see what happens.
Regards
M
I called HTC Support again and I was told that they're aware of this issue and working on another HotFix which might take 2 weeks or 2 months..Damn..
In the meantime, try using Fingerkeyboard 2.1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501122
IMO, much better than HTC's effort.
I personally don't bother with most of HTC hotfixes as they can cause issues, especially if your using cooked roms. Remember, before you install any hotfix always do a backup first!!!
Only solution I can think of is a hard reset as I'm not aware of any reg fixes etc. Do a backup of contacts/emails etc beforehand

Thanks for the tip; Installed Fingerkeyb 2.1 and I am happy again!
BTW still no word from HTC re the fix.....
Thanks a bundle

Problem sorted (somehow)
After installing the same Hotfix, the numbers also disapeared from my full Querty keyboard. HTC told me to do a hard reset (not a chance!).
Been serching forums and sites for days and have "accidently" fixed the problem. Not sure what part fixed it but I'll go through what I did and maybe it will work for you too. I must mention that I'm not that tech advanced at all.
I downloaded and installed fingerkeyb-20-wvga.cab (size 582kb). Checked that it was working fine. Checked full Querty, no luck.
Then downloaded and installed HTC_Keyboard__Keypad_MULTILANGUAGE.CAB (size 1912kb) after searching for an Ezinput keyboard for HTC Touch file ezinput.dll.0409. I found this file after going through the system files on the unit and finding two folders (ezinput and ezinput.dll.0409). It didn't display well so I uninstalled it. Checked full Querty and bingo, numbers back!!
I found both CAB files in the XDA forums.
Hope this helps.

Pleased to hear you got the problem "fixed".
As far as I am concerned, I now have FingerKeyb 2.1 and that'll do me nicely.
I am not touching anything unless I am specifically told by HTC.

Same here...
Great Hotfixes...
I´ve just contacted the support and waiting for reply.
I´ll keep you informed.
Have the same problem and uninstalling the hot fixes doesn't bring back the numbers 'tab' either. Does anyone know which actual 'Hot-Fix' created this problem - the Office Mobile Enhancement (BLAS00369) update or the Notifications Enhancement update (BLAS00349)?
At least can still access the numbers by holding and pressing the relevant buttons with the letters on, but not ideal.
Looks like will have to await a fix
HTC answered that I have an O2 rom and they are not resposible if those Hotfixes will not work with the original O2 rom.
They recommend a hard reset.
On the other hand they will help customers with the same problem with the original HTC rom...

hi cms777, could you provide the link to HTC_Keyboard__Keypad_MULTILANGUAGE.CAB..i tried searching, but in vain..
I installed HTC_Keyboard___Keypad_MULTILANGUAGE.CAB and then promptly uninstalled it (since it wasn't displaying correctly) and that solved my problem. The numbers are back.
I found it at http://www.filestube.com/4264194f235e4e9103ea,g/HTC-Keyboard-Keypad-MULTILANGUAGE-CAB.html

Please help me to Fix Hardware Keyboard keys A,S,D,F...

Hi Communiteee...
I have just started tweaking my TP2 and for some reason the above mentioned keys die on me...
I initially thought it was the "Classic Word Completion" cab but I do not have this installed and this AM it died again
If I hard reset with the internal storage it does not fix the problem BUT when HR with the Hardware keys it Does
Is there a way to check in the registry if these are still mapped correctly please.
The path would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

If you loaded on a new rom then you probably have to find and install the keyboard fix for whatever version of your phone you have. Look in the thread you downloaded the rom from and you'll likely find it in there.
That said.. if you havnt installed a rom and your keys randomly stopped working I would still try a keyboard fix. You can do a search in the rom subforum for them.
Good luck

Thank you Aaron,
I have only loaded the stock 6.5 ROM upgrade - will try to re-flash that and if that does not work I will try the Keyboard Editor I found on the Must have Apps Thread...
Will let ya know If I could get this resolved...
I am in the US and use AT&T. I have to install a cab every time I install a ROM or my keys are all screwed up. Maybe that is your issue. Good luck.

Hi There kimtyson,
Please advise which .cab that would be which you have to use?
I reflashed the Stock ROM and the keys worked for a while and then they decide to stop I have no idea why - I downloaded Energy ROM last night - will flash that at work and see if this resolves my problem...
HTC have replaced my Hardware Keyboard so it has to be something to do with the software
Thnx!
Bad Boi,
You mentioned your keyboard was replaced by htc already. I would send it back. If a hard reset doesnt fix the prob then I would say its a hardware prob. Maybe I missunderstood you but a hard reset puts the registry back to stock. You may have a bad flash and need to try to reflash the upgrade. Also, every cab or reg edits I did to get back the good old predictive text/word completion, it would always mess up my soft keyboard not the hard one. I have found that if you install HDTweak and enable the T9 option it will give you the predictive text back. You can even adjust how many words it suggests. Dont forget to turn off xt9 on your device. It works like a charm. If you need a good keyboard remapper I use Tarkim keyboard controller. I have to do almost my entire keyboard cause there isnt a 100 % fix for the Tilt 2. Here are links for the programs I mentioned. I hope this helps.

Thank you thebigrhinoone,
I have reflased stock upgraded ROM and the problem still pops up now and then - with or without tweaks added...
I have the Clasic Word Completion from PPC Geeks (Similar to Vogue Stock) for my TP2 and that works without any problems and no remapping required...
For the time being the ASDF is working - I will Flash the new ROM if the keys lock up again just to make sure if its hardware or not...
FYI
The way I get the predictive text working doesnt require any key mapping. The key remapper was for you to reassign the keys that arent working to see if that solves the problem. Sorry if I wasnt clear about that. If your problem persists try using the hd tweak method to see if that takes care of it. There are a lot off options in that program that you might like as well to tweak your phone. Take care and good luck.
