Locked Black Screen - G1 General

So, I have a problem with unlocking the screen. Basically the when i hit the end key I cant unlock it by pressing the menu key. But , when i slide open the keyboard and hit the end key one more time then the menu button it works.
I tried doing a full wipe and restarted reflashing the rom.
I'm on the original g-1 rom.
So if anyone can help me out, thanks!

[Q] Alternate Clockwork Navigation Buttons

I"m sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, however I am having issues navigating Clockwork. My camera button has stopped working. The only way I can get into Clockwork recovery is through rom manager. The problem is I can not select a file to flash without using the camera button. Is there an alternative way to boot into recovery without having to hold the camera button ? Also is there another way to select a file to flash without using the camera button? Thanks !

What about the home key?
The Keyboard Home Key does nothing, Touch Screen Home Screen makes the screen go blank/black.
As far as I know koush didn't build it with any alternative buttons this would have to be taken up with koush to have fixed I would think.

You sure nothing got corrupted in your installation? what kernel are you using?
I'm pretty sure there isn't any corruption. There is a physical problem with the camera button. It is stuck and I tried to force it out but to no avail. I am using Baked Snack 1.6 w/ his ultimate kernel.

I understand but if something is failing and its a hardware issue...then taking it in is the best thing you can do as you don't know what else will start failing in the future...
I have used both the keyboard arrow keys with the Enter key and the volume rocker with Camera key. They both work fine.
you could also search for or ask if anyone still has cwm 2.5.0.9 or whatever the one previous to the final release was. that one worked just the same as far as function but the buttons was i think smiley to move up and down and "k" was select (camera button). you could just one click flash it from your pc, might hold you over til you can get the hw fixed. although, taking it in to sprint, wouldnt you be odin-ing back to stock anyway? they might ***** about your warranty if you're custom rom/kerneled.
ROM Manager Pro will let you have access to newer and older CWM's.

Well, that is the menu that your looking for if you want to do a hard reset (WIPE). If it not working, then your phone is toast. Unless you want to try flashing it with another ROM using Odin. Which may work. (but very doubtful) There are tons and tons of threads here for you to researh your problem, but it sounds to me like the SD card has gone tits up. Wen u try to do a hard reset (wipe) what comes up on the screen after you select wipe??
But Vol up, middle button, and pwr is in fact the menu your looking for to do a Hard reset. (wipe)
If in fact your SD card is having issues, there is a thread floating around here somewhere, where some people have had sucess reviving their phone (and SD) using a series of flashes or something that may work.

I agree, go exchange. you should see the common unable to mount error in the recovery to confirm it's toast

Just flash your phone with odin to a 2.1 firmware (stock firmware, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 ) it should do the trick, if it's entering recovery and then let's you install a new firmware you're ok, but before installing a new firmware just take the battery out for 15-20 sec so the phone has no power to keep residual info from your previouse firmware.

Are you able to access recovery at all? If your able to access recovery try preforming a factory reset to see if you can get past the boot animation. Also check out this information that may be helpful.

Always glad to hear that I was able to help someone out, but I'm always especially happy when I can help someone un-brick there device.
so the deal here is...
so once your in bootloader, hit recovery, then you will see the little dead droid with the triangle... this is where it gets tricky...
keep tapping ( DONT HOLD) the power and volume left ( dunjno which is up or down, so i say left, the one close to the power key)., or in somke cases just mash all the buttons till the menu pops up! then click wipe data then wipe cache and the device reboots itself... give it a try!
i dont knwo why the recovery menu doesnt pop up unjtil u keep pressing volume up/down and power buttons, just keep tapping them in the recovery menu weith the android triangle and u should see the menu pop up

Very interesting to know, maybe you should make a thread in the general section with your findings so other people can easily find this useful information as this seems to be a common problem people run into.

Works perfect. Thanks so much...
I've actually heard that it's a fastboot problem (with the tool, not the firmware on your device). Downloading the latest version of platform-tools solved this particular problem in a hurry for me, and it's probably best practice in the long run.
Is there something I can do in this situation except i don't have stock recovery installed?
Nevermind had a moment

Restore Factory Recovery AKA Remove Custom Recovery

Hi guys,
First, thanks in advance for your help. I have a question or clarification. I did try numerous Google searches as well as searches in these forums and I could not find a clear answer. The question is as follows.
How do I get rid of the custom recovery and go back to the factory recovery?
I found an article and completed all steps with the exception of “locking” the boot loader. When I press the power button and volume button, I still get the TWRP Recovery. Would locking the boot loader disable the TWRP custom recovery and revert to the factory recovery? A couple times I got the little Android guy with the exclamation point.
I apologize for the newb question. It just was not clear in the article and I could not find any information online. If this is not the way, can someone direct me to an article or let me know what I may have done wrong?
Try looking at this thread, it has lots of good info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379797

Okay, I am not beyond making a real dumb mistake so please bear with me. I did look over the link. I ended up flashing the stock recovery and it does not appear to work. Well unless I am confused.
I restart my Nexus by pressing the Power Button and Volume down button at the same time. I then select "Recovery" from the menu. I see the text Google flash and then I am greeted with the Android guy on the floor with the exclamation point. Is this normal? Maybe I just dont know how the stock recovery looks?
Yes that is the stock recovery....pressing the volume buttons should activate the menu

Thank you, that makes sense then. I cannot believe it was something so dumb. I have been messing with this for hours. I knew it was strange that I could flash the custome recovery so many times with issues but would not be able to flash the factory recovery. I feel like an idiot. I did try pressing the Volume up or down button a few times and nothing happened though. Weird.

You have to press and hold Power, then press and release VolUp, then release Power
Don't immediately press them at the same time. Do it in the sequence listed.
