HD Mini will be the first WM with HVGA screen.
Will applications, which are made for QVGA and WVGA compatible with HVGA?
I have thought of this problum
I find a idea which may solve the problum
QVGA is 240x320
hVGA is 320x480
VGA is 480x640
so we use the tool WVGAfix to change hVGA device to QVGA and run QVGA's program
Sorry for my English

Hmm, "soon" WM 7 will be out and all developers will jump on this since new software needs to be made......WM 7 is not backward compatible.......risk is that not much will be done for this phone .....
that's my thought too.
if every single app has to be rewritten: why should one develop for windows mobile? why not moving on to android and stuff?
this could get aweful.

Hmmm you made me thinking .....will have a check on adroid.....on the other hand if WM7 is a cracker (and microsoft makes finally good mobile software) we can wait for that. Numerous apps will come available via windows marketplace and XDA ofcourse.....
I have theese considerations too, and my good old Iolite soon needs to be replaced.
However I think WP7S and devices will need so time to mature.
Meanwhile I'll stick to WM 6.5.
Wish that the CPU was 768MHz instead of that old 600MHz.
But I still think that I will buy the HD mini. The HD2 i too big for me, and after watching alot of HD2 videos on youtube(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOV7PH3J0j0), I must say that it really dossent impress me that much.

Hello, I have just purchased HD mini. My previuos phone was Diamond 2. I found out that most of applications which run on Diamond 2 don't run on Mini properly because of different screen resolution. WVGAFix.cab mentioned above does nothing. When I launch it, it just states: Sorry, WVGAFIX3 can't run on your system! Is there anything to do about it? Can anybody help?
Thanks
Probably the only thing you can do is to email the developers of your applications and ask them if they intend supporting HVGA devices. On the optimistic side, HVGA is one of only two resolutions that will be supported under WP7, so if they're porting to WP7, they'll be doing the graphics work they need anyway. Just a question of whether they think there's money to be made from the last WM6.5 device.

The file is incompatible with HD mini.
I suppose I will never have the fone with everything so I will settle for a very good one.. ..two..[E71 Black (hackd 2 pieces) & HD mini]. I am disappointed in the small amount of apps I have found so far (especially disapointed with the Max Manilla incompatibility). For that & the like, the HD2 is worth its size but I would sacrifice the compass for the size reduction.
Is there a way around this screen resolution issue then??

@Betox;
I've installed TomTom 7.910 on my HD mini and it's runs without a problem.
Just search the internet for 'TomTom_7.910.9185 QVGA Black'. Obtaining the maps shouldn't be a big problem either...
Is anyone cooking the latest WM 6.5 ROMs for HVGA (or is screen resolution even an issue with ROMs)?

This is my beloved calculator. I hope you're wrong here. But I did'nt see that on the wiki but I'll test that the moment my unit arrive.
If you've already got your unit, why not go ahead to test and update the wiki. Cheers.
HiCalc is my favorite one, but it occupies like 1/4 of the screen on my HD, so it's unuseable.

You're right. In the case of HiCalc they use the same cab both type of devices.
I hope that they come up with a version for HD soon.
I would be happy with a calculator that just fits the whole screen and is not as terribly ugly as the WM one.

Wow? Frankly speaking, any possibilty that the video is trying to tell us SEX1 is able to run WM7?
Like maybe make a special version of WM7 for those phones without accelerometer?
Well the screen are most probably added in post-processing .. it is a professional advertisement. A lot easier than to install WM7 on device clearly under specs, and then shoot the display so it looks good.
They just take current devices to show in this video
The X1 is off: there is no lights in the hardware keyboard when in use...
hope is such a wonderfull thing ^^
Kinda like the original X1 advertisements. No way the R1 stock ROMs were as fast as those shown on the videos.

I don't really think WM7 will be too advanced for the X1, but please don't expect an OEM upgrade.
Minimum specs for WM7 contains 1GHz CPU, g-meter and compass (IIRC). Xperia is clearly not WM7 compatible.

to Dr sid :
Really ??? that doesnt seem to make much sense ... i mean why should be the accelerometer a dependence or even more the digital compass ... they are almost useless features. one for auto rotation and the other for navigation.
about the speed ... hmm im not sure that MHz make incompatibility ... maybe the ram size can be a problem but the Mhz ... a pc can work slower or faster ... but it works in most cases, it seems extreme to go just from wm 6.5 to wm 7 ... and require double processor speed. this has never happened in any wm upgrade ... there are so many old devices running fine with wm 6.5 ... kaiser for example which has even resoultion 320x240 and came out with wm 5... so to me Xperia will be able to run wm 7 ... and i have to agree anyway that the Xperia in the adertisment is tottally turned off ....
a phone with a 1ghz processor!?
I will buy a new phone when they come out with dual core for it
Look, it doesn't matter if its going to require an accelerometer or a compass... while it'll be nice to have, there's a 99% chance that it'll get ported over for WM6.0-6.5 devices, maybe with one or two features missing. Touchflo was never supposed to run on the kaiser, let alone titanium... that phone is a great example of 3 generations of windows mobile upgrades... our devices won't be any different. I'm planning on my topaz and raphael to be running WM7 when the big day comes

False! That, sir, is an HD (blackstone). However, you are correct in that it is working on a WVGA screen.
IMO, i think its a pretty useless application ... maybe it is good to see the 3D performance of your device wither it can render it smoothly or not, .. but i would not go and tease others about having it just IMO
I was able to get this program running on my Tilt 2 using AthineOS 23518 and by putting the HTCAPI.DLL in the windows folder with Total Commander. It seems to have tearing issues. I assume the drivers mentioned in the instructions would correct this.
*EDIT*
I can confirm that the Neo v3 drivers have no effect on performance of this program on the Tilt 2. It holds an average of 25FPS, but has tearing issues.
I wouldn't go showing this off if you plan to impress anyone...
Thanks for the app.
After installing the Neo DriverPack 3 and moving the the HTCApi .dll file into the installed program file, it works just fine, with minor tears which I think isn't much noticable, but all-in-all it actually works on my TP2.

Hai all,
Windows Phone 7 can run in HD2..
Can someone tell me if its possible to run WIndows Phone 7 on Touch HD, if the HD2 Rom is reworked according to HTC Touch HD..??
I am begging our Super Chefs to cook a ROM of Windows Phone 7 for the Touch HD.....Please.....
As some winmo 7 phones only have 3.7 inch, it shud work on Touch hd...isnt..?
Also Processor can be adjusted by clocking..isnt it..?
I am not suure though...
Please discuss...
Thanks..
Surely it is possible, and not so hard as it would seem to be.
And sure, HD hardware is capable, but it would be a bit laggy at times.
The problem is that xda lacks dev support.
Are you serious, tell me you are joking?! The Touch hD Will 100% not run Wp7. it doesn't fill the chassis 1 requirement. it has a resistivetouch screen. NO EXISTING WM PHONE CAN UPGRADE TO WP7 (THEY ALL AVE RESISTVIVE SCREENS) apart from hd2
I'm sure this ha been posted many times before.
Dude, resistive screen is no drawback, true some function wouldn't easily be implemented like pinch to zoom, but its NOT impossible. As I said, devs are lacking will to do anything for older phones and that's the REAL issue. Deal with it.

True, no devs will support 'old devices' Get your facts right before posting. As part of the hardware requorements, the Chassis 1 minumum requires uliti touch capacitive screens. wp7 WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED ON TOUCH HD! unless someone smart enough can rewrite the touch drivers and digitilizers to match the resistibve screen which i think is VERY DIFFICULT and highly unlikely to happened.. most apps require multitouc
h.
Do some research.
You might also consider that devs lack time to support everything.
but i think will work, becoz android is a mutitouch capacitive screen software, and still the android (even with sense) works in Touch HD...
So windows phone 7 should work....I hope...
Anyway I got windows phone 7 working in touch HD using throttlelauncher, it is exact same as WP7 in front page, and some pages are actual one...

You are incorrect. Android is not designed for capacitive. it was designed for both resistive and capacitive. There are many resisitve touch screeens running amdroid natively. But WP7 was designed ONLY for capacitive. Try installing it from your SD card then... But you will only result with a non-bootable bricked device...
I highly highly doubt WP7 will be possible on any other wm device (apart from Hd2)

That's just a theme for winmo 6.5
In this video, we take a look at the latest version of Fireslave's Windows Phone 7 theme for Windows Mobile 6.5.
the windows phone 7 link is just a theme. It doesn't actually give you windows 7 capabilities. It's pretty good though, however the Froyo X Red build is now a very clean and fast build, and is much faster than this windows phone 7 THEME if you ask me.
Android is THE way forward
i agree about android. however, i must say, i actually prefer a good windows phone 7 theme to the actual OS, because it comes with a lot of functuality and the slick interface, without actually having all the restrictions of windows phone 7, like the lack of windows mobile app support, copy & paste and a system wide file and registry explorer. actually i love, that i am able to send anything (even cabs and mp3) to other phones through bluetooth and other great freedoms, that come with the old winmo. even more a reason to hope for a fully working android on the blackstone. it offers the great 3rd party app support of wp7 or ios with many freedoms and full customizability.

Hi there,
I will get a HD mini in a few days and I was wondering if the HTC HD Mini is a mini HD2 or not (hope my question is not too stupid) ?
And if yes, is the Nand available for the HD2 can be used for the HD Mini ?
Tarmac
Hi Tarmac,
I don't think that this is the good section but... whatever !
The HD Mini has a 600Mhz CPU (vs 1Ghz), a 320x480 pixels screen (vs 480x800) and many other different things.
So I'm pretty sure that nothing of the HD2 will work (and with and old 600Mhz CPU, what can you expect ? maybe a first Wildfire ROM base...)
I haven't checked but does the HD Mini have a subsection on this forum ?
you should have posted this in Q/A thread.
and no you cannot use things related to hd2 with hd mini.
