Quick question!
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this before or not BUT! I just got my MDA today and with any other phone I can connect to Cellular One DCS up north here but my MDA won't show Cellular One at all? Has it somehow lost 850mhz coverage? I'm lost on how this can be. Any ideas? Where I am has great 850 coverage too btw. Thanks!

Well, I have added spb pocketplus, backup and upgraded to the 2.26.10.2 rom from T-Mobile. Other than that, that's it. I'm going to backup my stuff though and then reinstall the rom. See if that helps. Otherwise I'm lost on this.
Yeah soo that did nothing.. :\ No clue what is going on. Maybe I'll call T-Mobile and see if they have any idea or get a replacement or something

have you tried just flashing the Radio ROM to something like the 2.19 or 2.61 to see if that does anything for you...

Alright will do and report back when I can thanks
Update: Good news is that it does work with 850 band. The reception is VERY poor though. I had an MDA before this and it was great inside my room but this one is very very poor in comparisson. Perhaps I will get an exchange.
After doing a Hard Flash for the first time from 1.43 to 148 and rebooting my HD2. Within several minutes my reception speed would change from 3G to GPRS and back again while on the go, this has never happen before and was wondering is there a way to have consistent 3G speed/reception or was there a fault during my flash?
Any suggestions or help would most helpful.

Did you flash with SSPL / Gold card or with the HDSPL in-tacked?
EITHER WAY:
Press Phone Key>Options>GSM/UMTS Services:
Here select Band....then, "Get Settings"
The first tab should say GSM. Drop down menu option you want is WCDMA. This will force 3G all the time. However I don't recommend this setting as this will consume more battery.
Leaving it in 2G saves more battery and voice quality doesn't change....
hi,
maybe you flashed the radio part of the rom also, when you flash from 1.43 to 1.48?. im not sure, but you should check out this htc update, and try it. its a replacement for the radio portion of your rom only, and maybe fixing your problems. my singnal strengh has stoped to swing between full and no bars, and i have full bars most of the time, with this update.
regards mad.

Stock Roms include the Radio so if there was a change between one stock and the other then a change will occur...
There is nothing wrong with the radio band switching automatically though so unless you have bad reception, everything should be fine.

Hi! I have been browsing the Nexus One forums for a while now, but I seem to have a strange problem.
I had a Nexus One that was working fine, but there was a piece of dust under my screen. It switched to HSDPA, and I had none of the issues that I have now. I sent it to HTC, but they didn't want to repair it, because it was rooted. I think they flashed something into the phone, because ever since the internet connection is very buggy. 3G (UMTS) didn't cause any problems then, but now if I hold my hand at the bottom of the nexus, connection indicator lowers (Cell Viewer: ranging from -1 to 8). When I hold the phone up int he air the connection varies between 14 and 24 (UMTS). The phone doesn't switch to HSDPA AT ALL!
I tried the hsxpa-tweak in build.prop, but it didn't help. I am using Cyans latest stable. I have wiped, installed stock, upgraded to cyan again, and tried staying on the stock rom, to no avail.
Is there something really stupid that I am not seeing? Or would it mean that the transporter has damaged my phone antenna by dropping it? :O
What makes you believe you're not getting HSDPA? Have you tested the actual speed of your connection? Keep in mind, on an unrooted Nexus One, your signal indicator will always show 3G even when HSDPA is active. It only shows the H when you're using a custom ROM.
Also, the signal fluctuation when covering the bottom of the phone is well documented at this point. It's normal.
HSDPA is only active when the network deems you need it, it'll just sits on 3G all other times.
Funny..I'm on HSPA all the time when on 3G..never saw UMTS not one. Yet on a cliq I saw UMTS...

I used Cell Viewer to test signal type. I was consistantly on HSDPA before it got sent in to HTC.

Assuming you're in the U.S. and on T-Mobile, the following thread covers this issue:
3G --> H Data problems

Also, check which Radio Firmware you have installed now. If you have 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 installed, try downgrading to 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2.
Cheers,

Hmm... I've had a look at that thread, thanks for the pointer!
Too bad I'm in Europe . I changed to US, JAPAN, AUS and EURO, but it didn't help . I'll try the same with the .03 radio. I've flashed both the .03 and .04 radio's before, but not together with the instructions at the end of the mentioned thread.
Anyone know what the problem is? I am not very knowledgeable when coming to phone and how they function. I am thinking, could it be the radio setting? I am in the USA, using tmobile network. I get signal and I can call text. If my phone are on standby for not being use, I get the X signal for no network connection and after switching the phone back on.
I am located in Socal in the Orange County, any one with the fix for this please let me know. I didn't have this many drop network with other build, but I love how fast this Super Ram build is. Please help if you can. Thank you!

I'm assuming you're using Darkstone's build, check his post; there is a complete work-up and description and fixes for problems. Remember, it's still a work in progress and there will be problems. His forum is just for that. The Devs have put a warning on his thread to basically keep it clean and search before posting repeat questions.

- Notification LED's only blink once
- SetCPU unable to change CPU speed (not that I think that theres much need to do this anyway)
- Possible PPP data issues for some people"

Since you and I are on the same network and area, check your build.prop settings for DNS, check your APN and I have mine set to HSP...Check my thread for links and instructions.
Thank, slightly confuse thought. I don't use data service so I don't know if my network or cell phone reception have anything to do with PPP. If it does I will give it a shot and try to fix it. Everywhere I go have Wifi and it work wonders, just my cell reception for tmobile are going up and down at time, and every couple min it would lose everything. Sometime going to network and trying to reconnect it would give me some bar and sometime it doesn't. Very annoying but please verified if PPP will fix it. Seem more like data (3g) issue more than reception issue. I don't know if both are the same thing or not. I will give it a shot if it will fix my reception for signal because I don't want to mess anything up.
Thanks for the lead and heads up.
Hi guys.
I am having problem with my HTC Magic.
I flashed it recently with CyanogenMod and because of it revert radio down from 6.35.x.x to 3.22.x.x. I am not happy with it and returned to stock rom and renew radio. But ever since i flashed to Cyanogen I get really low signal and line breaking when I am talking.
Any advice or suggestion what should I do?
Thanks in advance.
I would suggest Network work booster app or some similar apps from market, its free. Give a try
Sent from my HTC Magic
You must choose the "Use only 2g networks" to avoid battery drain and increase signal quality. The problem is with your service provider, which does not have 3G coverage near where you get low signal. With this, your phone is searching for 3g network signal closer, which ends up reducing the signal strength. I do not have the magic, now I have a galaxy sii and the "problem" continues. So when I'm in 3G coverage areas better, turn off the option. If the answer was helpful do not forget to mark it as such. Anything we're here.
