FAQ: How to do a Rom/Radio Upgrade with SD Card..
Solution:
1.Copy BLACIMG.NBH into the root dir of your Storage Card.
2. Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
3. Turn off your device by using the Power Button
4. Go to bootloader mode. Push and hold Vol Down + press Power button.
5. As soon as presented the message, push Power button to start flashing or Volume Down button to cancel.
6. The whole procedure will take about 3 minutes. After you finish and see the relative message, soft reset your device, you are ready.

So you want to flash radio 1.09.25.14? to 1.09.25.14? That's the same radio.
If this is your first time flashing, please make sure you have Hard SPL (protects your device from being destroyed).
The process is explained <<HERE>>

My suggestion is to try most of them. Don't make decisions based on others as it's not a popularity contest but more about where u are in your own location. Sometimes it's as specific as the GSM towers and where they are located in respect to your neighborhood.
....and the latest radio is not always the best. I've gone through all the radio's and I'm using a radio from approx a year ago.
Test based on the following:
• battery consumption
• reception (GSM, GPS, BLuetooth, etc.)
• how hot it runs when using the device....etc.

thanks for the reply
I was thinking last night, could it have been a dodgy sim unlock thats the problem? ie making it look as if its unlocked but not actually unlocked?
I presume rom flashing wont sim unlock either?

You've presumed correctly, flashing a rom will not sim unlock your device...

If unlock went haywire, you wouldn't be able to use SIM from another provider... or any at all.
So it's radio version (most probably) not quite appropriate for your area.
I used GB (Orange, if I'm not mistaken) ROM (1.59.61.2) and I also had some weak signal issues.
I have tried 1.17.25.09 radio, but it has also some issues, including a bit greater battery drain. On the other hand, that radio has fastest satelite lock of all radios I tried.
So go on, try which radio is best suited for your area... Or maybe first try that Orange ROM I used... link is on Wiki...

Can not pick up the network after finally unlocking..HELP;-)

Hello,
How are you?
After finally managing to unlock my xda, it does not find any networks!
My ROM Version is 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date 12/22/03
Radio Version 6.24.00
Protocol version 324e4
Does anyone know of this problem?
Please help me.. I was so happy to unlock it and now i have run into this problem....
I have read that you shouldn't play with the gsm menu in the bootloader screen.. well i did play with them before i knew i shouldn't. Could this be the problem?
Is there a way to reset it?
Should I go to a different radio version?
Please help,
I live in France and I am on the french bouygtel network. I believe this is a 900/1800 gsm network.
Thank you,

6.24.00 radio is for PWA10B1 and for 900/1900 networks only (for USA).
If you have a PWA10A1 model (check the back of your PDA), you should use 4.21.00 for 900/1800. Note: upgrading Radio Stack is very risky, do it for your own responsibility! So after you downgraded to 4.21, enter bootloader, press calendar button then select "900/1800" and soft reset.
You can get 4.21 radio stack from here:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21_PPC.zip for the ppc install version and
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21.zip for the activesync version. I remind you, upgrading radio stack is risky!!
Search in the forums how to upgrade radio stack.
Oh, and entering bootloader makes a hard reset.
KTamas... Thank you very very very much...
Thank you very very very much.....

It worked.
Compatibility of SEROM with Radio A.20.10
I had been asking a similar question elsewhere in the forum.
Given these device specs,
ROM Version : A.21.02 ENG
ROM date: 10/17/03
Radio Version : A.20.10
Protocol version : 324e4
Carrier : AT&T GSM/GPRS in the USA,
would you know if the version of the Special Edition ROM v1.2 available on this site (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/SpecialEditionROM) should be compatible with this radio stack or not? I would not want to do a RS up/downgrade if I can avoid it.

Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
I've just acquired a T-Mobile (unlocked) and want to use it in New Zealand, which has a European setting, 900/1800. The T-Mobile is a PW10B1, which I think is setup to operate on a different frequency.
Can I swap the radio stack to operate on my local GSM network, or will I fry the PDA.
If I do swap the radio stack, and it fails - is there a ROM which I can use to rebuild the PDA with instructions on how to do this (URLS and links would be VERY much appreciated!)
Thanks, Hamish

PWA10B1 is for 900/1900 ONLY. You cant swap radio strack - if your provider works on 900 mhz, then you have to use it on that freq.
T-Mobile in NZ (from Canada)
Thanks for the reply.
Since then, I've installed a v4 radio stack (as described earlier in this thread) and the system does boot, but won't see my PC for Active Sync and also won't see the network.
I'm downloading the official T-Mobile ROM which I hope I can use, but if activesync won't work, any suggestions as to how to get the ROM loaded?
Also, is there a utility to select the network bandwidth, as there wasn't one already on the device - and I'm beginning to get a little concerned now!
Many thanks for your time so far!

You can choose 900/1800 or 900/1900 from the bootloader, press/hold power while pushing reset with stylus, then when screen appears, push the button below the antenna, choose your appropriate band and from there, for model A choose 900/1800 for model B choose 900/1900. Make sure you have a working backup of your data when using this method.
Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
Thanks for your help.....I managed to get it into bootloader, but was pressing the contacts button (left) rather than the right (calendar).
I now have managed to get the device to see the local 900MHz network, so it's functioning !
Your help has been much appreciated!

PM10A No GSM on bootup :(

Hi people.
I have an ImateJam PM10A that i require help with.
On boot up i notice it says "no GSM" D.1.12.00 WWE
The sys info i get from device information is:
ROM Version 1.12.00 WWE
ROM Date 05/28/05
Radio version BLANK
Ext rom version 1.12.119 WWE
As a result no GSM whatsoever.
Hope you guys can help me ?
Kind regards,
Mitch.
did you do anything to your jam before this happened? i dont know too much about this stuff but i would say reinstall the rom, heres what clubimate has to say about pm10a rom upgrades:
If the model number indicates PM10A, then the customer should upgrade with the Generic Worldwide English ROM Build. You will not be able to install the North American JAM (850) ROM. This WWE build does not include the connection settings for the US operators found in the North American build, though these are all available to download separately from club i-mate™.
Hi..
Ur r seeing no GSM on boot because radio is missing, meaning no phone, just the PDA...
U just have to reflash radio, and for doing that:
go to the ftp from here, download MAupgradeUt_noID.exe,and a radio ROM of ur liking(1.12 is preferable,it is radio_.nbf file),put the 2 files in 1 folder, remember to also put RUU.dll in it,enter ur phone in bootloader mode by pressing power button, camera and reset(i guess,it's been a while since I have'nt reflashed a Magician ,anyway make sure by reading the wiki page from here),then run MAupgradeUt_noID.exe,and follow on screen procedures...
Good luck...
RAGO
Tried an upgrade to the latest UK wwe full image using MAupgradeUt_noID.exe and also the latest radio rom.
whilst the upgrades complete ok the radio version and protocol version still remain blank??
any ideas on what the generic world wide flash file is called and i will give it a go.

@ Tom,
Will you include this radio rom in your B&B 4.0 release?
Great work!
I hate to ask a noob question, but....
Why should I upgrade the GSM radio?
Downloaded and flashed perfectly, cheers Pof.
A basic reason for upgrading the radio rom is that it helps make calls clearer, fixes a few (not sure of any) bugs and generally increases battery life when making calls etc.
Artemis Radio 02.95.90.. Wow!
I think clear sound and the battery drains less than radio 2.94.90.
Great Work.! cheer Pof.
Thank alot for sharing.
I think reception is better somehow, bt battery life is pretty much the same.
Okay let's give this one also a try!
Had some battery drains problem with the 2.94.90 and went back to the 93
But I hope this one is working fine again
Thanks for the post!
I have impression that in flight mode, battery life is more longer, but with phone turned on, a little shorter than original O2 radio.

Chasing the dragon?
Is there any point chasing the numbers game? Just because one of the numbers is higher doesn't mean the software is any newer!
Take a look at the WM6 upgrades from O2 for DE and UK, released at the same time. It is obvious which parts of the numbering are region codes and which are software "versions".
RUU_Artemis_O2_DE_3.4.207.2_4.1.13.41_02.88.90_Ship.exe
RUU_Artemis_O2_UK_3.4.206.2_4.1.13.28_02.67.90_Ship.exe
i.e.
both are OS 3.4.xxx.2
both are Protocol 4.1.13.xx
both are GSM 02.xx.90
So as far as I can see, GSM 02.94.90 would be exactly the same version as 02.95.90, just for a different network provider or geographical region? No doubt they have to keep track this way as each "flavour" will need to be certified individually by each regional provider.
I have radio 02.94.90 and i tried to upgrade 02.95.90 but i received the message "file is corrupted". Someone can help me?
Many thanks and sorry for my bad english!

[Q] [Blackstone] Getting Invalid Sim with any sim.

Hi everyone;
I have a HTC Blackstone which is already carrier unlocked (not very sure, but it was working with my current carrier sim 1 week ago), today when i started it up, it said: "Invalid Sim".
So i've loaded Energy Rom today. The ROM has been installed successfully and at the first place, i've seen USB mode with Olinex.
My current status is:
Radio: 1.13.25.24
Protocol: 56.62.25.34U
Rom version: 17.01.2011 WWE
OS Version: 4.2.21916
I've already search on the forum, the only subject that i've found is:
Task 29 from HD2 now confirmed to work for Blackstone
Could you please help me. I don't have a phone anymore
Thanks in advance.

Hi Hakim;
I've upgraded my radio using CustomRUU and my radio became successfully 1.17.25.09.
I rebooted my HTC and inserted a sim into, and still get Invalid Sim.
Do you think that it's a hardware failure rather than a sofware failure?
By the way, with the latest radio installed, it says:
Sim card missing.
But the issue is, wifi is still working, so i think that maybe it's not really a radio rom issue.
What do you think guys?
Have you tried unlocking sim?
