i was thinking, say i see something interesting, by the time i start camera etc etc it will be gone..
is there or can someone do a quick snap program?
a click will
go to camera
focus and snap
based on pre determined settings
that will be good
Not that I've found - the camera app is what it is, and you can't get past the cutesy animated GUI.
With HD Tweak you can assign "camera" to one of the TF3D home screen soft buttons, which will launch direct into the "take picture" screen, saving you a flip and a press, but you still have to hit the shutter button.
hope someone does it
Try MortScripts. I have no personal experience though..
how can mortscript help for this?
I thought may be possible to reduce clicks required by using automation. May be wrong though
Any way camera start up time is still long even with the Rhodium ported camera app on cooked ROMs (slightly better though).
Use Dutty's rom, it has the Diamond 2 camera app in it.
The screen doesn not lag, and it is very fast!
am hoping for a see it snap it kind of program... is there no way to interface with the cam directly? any developers here pls
hmm no one knows?
can someone try that on a Legend ?

Works ? Live Wallpaper ?
confirmed - works - BUT, no livewallpaper and the old 'drawer' launcher. looks more 1.6 to me than 2.1....
Do your battery last longer ?
Otherwise I don't see the point...
TY for testing that.
I couldnt disable it. As soon as I "force close", HTC Sense automatically starts again.

You most likely forgot to push the Clear Defaults button first.
Clear Defaults - Force stop - Home key, and voilá.

Yes, that was the problem. Thank you.
It is much better with HTC Sense, the only thing I liked is "animation" when opening and closing programs. It looks something like zooming in when opening, and zooming out when closing apps. Actually, it is not "only", because I liked it pretty much. Is there any way I can enable that with HTC Sense?
Install " AdvancedLauncher " from the Blapk Market, and when you press home button, and select " Acceuil " ( for french user ) com.android.laucher.
have fun =)
Edit : the live paper dosnt work for me
AdvancedLauncher doesnt work for me. Force close every time I try to launch it, after that I have to restart my phone.
When you press home button, you have 3 slot, com.android.laucher, com.irrenhaus.advancedlaucher.donut and HTC sense
press com.android.laucher and not com.irrenhaus.advancedlaucher.donut
When I press Home, I have other 3 options:
-AdvancedLauncher
-Home
-HTC Sense
I chose first one, and then phone crashed.
Try to select home ..
Tried that... I get only UI without HTC Sense.
I don't understend, you want remove completly HTC SENSE ?
No, I want HTC Sense with animation (when opening and closing programs), which looks something like zooming in when opening, and zooming out when closing apps. These animation can be seen when HTC is disabled.
Setting/sound and screen/ Animation ?
( sorry I have HTC legend in french : Paramètres /Sons et affichage/Animation )
I did that first, but there are still no animations like when I disable HTC Sense.
So you want disable HTC Sence and enable just the animation ?

Hi,
I am experiencing the screen automatically changes to sense hometab whenever i unlock my phone/wake up from standby . Is there anyway to disable this ? My job requires me take many pictures using the camera. This is very inconvenient for me as I always have to click the picture tab then camera icon again before I can take the picture, even if i didnt close the camera application previously. thanks !!!
same here!! this is a real pain.
whenever i wake from standby with the end/power key it takes me back to homescreen. really anoying when im halfway through a text as i then lose everything ive writen.
same thing for email, opera etc.
Is this a universal issue on the latest 23xxx builds?
I wonder if its to do with the OBOE build this is taken from, i.e that device has seperate on/off buttons and end buttons.
either way there must be a reg hack for this. any ideas on hardware buttons or would it be to do with backlight reg?
help greatly appreciated
make a camera shortcut at the home quicklinks
It has been confirmed now.
I was wondering how on-screen buttons are supposed to work alongside capacitive/physical buttons on the note?
... and other discussions.
I'm sure Samsung will touch wiz the onscreen buttons right out of the ROM...

It's possible to remove onscreen buttons with default launcher.
If a device has physical buttons the on-screen buttons will not be used by ICS. This has been covered many times in reviews and direct statements from Google.

When i say now, it was setting up the context for further discussion and not breaking the news.
there is one on screen button i want them to keep in - the multitask button. that button would save me from having to use a task switcher app, and makes app/ram management a lot easier.
one thing i am curious about though, since ICS features the ability to freeze apps integrated into it, is it possible to freeze touchwiz and revert to generic ICS? (im a bit of a nubb as to the complexities of android).

Maybe you know this and just don't think it's enough, but have you tried using the already built in multi tasking feature? Just long press the home button and a menu with shortcuts to your six most recent apps will appear. Here you can also enter the task manager to shut down apps and clear RAM

Forget about that, touchwiz is full intigrated into the android framework. You cant even boot without it.

i know about long press home, but that only shows recent apps, it doesnt tell you which ones are still open and which ones are closed. id rather have something that tells me which ones are running, rather than which ones ive used recently which may or may not still be running.
on my old n900, there was a visual task switcher built into the UI. tap the button, and it shows all active windows. you can see a preview of what each one is doing (including seeing a video play in realtime) and you can close each one directly from this screen, no need to go into a menu or three just to find out which ones are open and which ones are closed.
there was a visual task switcher on android that was similar, but it only runs on android up to froyo. the next best thing ive used on android is the smart task switcher, but it doesnt help that the only button i can assign it to on the galaxy note is the home key. on my atrix, i had it assigned to the search key. it also doesnt do previews like the n900, but it does tell you how much free ram you have.
call me picky, but from my experience, multitasking is one thing that nokia does better than android, even though nokia lacks a dual core device. hopefully the task switcher in ICS changes that.

webos also has good multitasking.
You guys don't think Samsung will just place the multi task app for that?
Long press the home button and that should bring up the new ics app mananger. I think that would be the most logical route for them.

I'm confused... besides the recent apps, there's a task manager button there that does show only the open apps. Or is it just the fact that it's an extra button press?
The task manager shows the apps that are running. The pop-up (long press) is recently opened apps/fast task switcher. If you for example open the XDA app and exit from it, it will still be in the recently opened/fast switcher pop-up.
The videos I've seen of ICS running with Touchwiz has you just hold down the Home button to bring up the new multi-tasking app switcher menu or whatever you want to call it.

If you click that task manager button, it takes you to a screen that shows only the running apps, and lets you switch between them. Isn't that what people are wanting to do?

you cant access the task manager in android from every screen, you need to go through a few screens to get to it. on ICS and on my nokia n900, you could get to it at the push of a button, makes multitasking much much easier and much much faster. faster is always better, just like if samsung's custom browser for the note used tabs like dolphin and firefox instead of the new window thing, im sure people would love it more.
So i noticed there are many users coming from a galaxy device, and there are i think more features than most of us know when it comes to this device, everyone just post a tip you think someone might now know:
I'll start with mine: If you click and hold the multitask button, it will bring down the settings menu, this can be used pretty much anywhere, even in the homescreen.
Also if you open an app using qslide you can move the app all the way to the left edge of the screen and it will turn into a button which can be pressed and brought up at anytime.
good post this, keep them coming !
U can slide the Qslide to either edge. Works same ways for both the sides.
Good and keep the new tricks rolling..
ok, so here is mine:
you can use pinch gesture on multitasking window or in gallery view to resize thumbnails (make bigger or smaller).
Pretty nice

We can choose the style of the setting menu in a list or regular view using top right options

I just upgraded from a well-loved GS3 (it was getting flaky though) and I miss having built-in widgets for controlling bluetooth or wifi on/off that you can put on your main screens (Samsung had the power bar - which had a bunch of stuff). I'd rather not use the HD widgets if I don't have to - and pulling down the menu bar isn't always convenient.

This used to be my favorite tool, i know you mentioned you don't want to download any alternatives or so i understood but: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&hl=en
You can create your own powerbar where you can toggle wifi on/off bluetooth etc.. infact, i think i'm downloading this myself now that you reminded me of it, it is indeed more convenient.
When you scroll from bottom to open the qhickmemo+
Press the brow arrows that appear in the top after you'll be able to select an area to capture it
Also in the gallery, you can make a collage photos, hide photos and videos so no more need for hiding picture apps
In the home screen pinch to zoom it'll hide everything
That what I remember for now

Ohh, that's actually a nice low-impact widget.. Thanks! The HD widgets (while pretty) were very resource intensive and flaky sometimes for me. Too much for a widget.
Thanks!
