Hi, i believe some of you remember that i am switching from X1 to HD2... Well, i have changed it and i'm using it now (love the big screen)
I was wandering around this forum... I saw a post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578575&highlight=dualboot
What does it actually means by: "ANDROID/MAEMO/LINUX on HD2"
Is it that when i flashed it, my Windows OS platform is gone for good???
Then... ... I searched deeper. LOL, and notice this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792
I am very very attracted to the DualBoot... Thats actually i wanted for my HD2.
Well, thats not my main question/request...
A troublesome request will be appearing after this sentence, i hope that you guys wouldn't feel fed-up. *(Apologize to you first)*
The most important question... Is it compatible for HD2??? If its not, sorry for this post.
If it is compatible, could someone spare me their time to guide me along the step and procedures to install the android OS and then the DualBoot.
If possible, mind attaching/link the required file for this whole process.
A million thanks to you guys. Sorry if i speak a bit to harsh
P.s. Sorry if there is a guide already up there in the forum . I'm a student and need to study for my test, didn't have time to search so many pages
I don't mind if you copy/paste the guide here... Just attach the required files needed.
Thanks once again
...Sorry if i speak a bit to harsh
I would like to advice you to read more of the ANDROID/MAEMO/LINUX on HD2 thread. You'll see that it still is in full development. For android to work developers need to create a custom kernel that will run on the HD2 using Haret. There is no question of a nand flash of android as of yet.
Now even with the use of Gen.Y dualboot, if you are not able to boot into android, the application in itself is still useless (on HD2). Furthermore, the dual boot application does in fact start your windows mobile Rom but directly start Haret instead of completely loading windows mobile (correct me if i'm wrong please).
So to sum up. Don't worry about flashing over windows mobile. This isn't possible (yet). Running android is not working (yet). And even with the use of Gen.Y dualboot, you'd still run windows mobile as a flashed rom and not Android itself.
I do have to ask though. If you just got the phone and already want Android.. why didn't you get an android phone? Ofcourse if you are like me and just like to tinker with your phone I can understand .

This may sound like a very stupid question but to be honest, i never done this before. I would like to change the ROM i have on my htc hd2. I get stuck in the process and I been searching on the web and youtube to learn how its done. Of course I dont want to brick my phone so I am cautious of what im doing. Now, I would like to put a rom like an Android one or a ROM that would get rid of all the programs i dont use..mobi tv, blockbuster, etc...Will somebody post or reply to step by step on how its done..from scratch..I will really, really appreciate the help.thx

You will need to read a bit before diving in but start HERE for the step by step.
Then Try the HD2.0 UnOff Series.
How far have you gotten on the process? do you still have a stock HD2 (or have you changed the SPL/HSPL)? is it a T-mobile version HD2(that is important to know)?
yeah, i still have the stock hd2. yeah, its the tmobile version
I would suggest reading the guide in this section
(5th thread from the top, named [TUT] Flashing your First GSM USA 1024LEO ONLY!! (For Noobs) - I would post the link but being a noob to the forums myself, I can't post links yet )
It talks all about what you need to do inorder to be able to flash a ROM on your phone.
As for Android.... there is no Android ROM for the HD2 per-say... it's actually a very basic WM ROM with the loader built in, points to the Android files that you should have on your MicroSD... and then boots into Android. If you plan on ONLY running Android on the phone... I would suggest one like Energy from NRG.... his standard TMOUS ROMs have the Android loader cooked in, and he has an "Android ROM" if you want to go that route.
Been running his 8/25 - 23569 build, been working great... real clean and FAST, and has the Android loader built in, so I get my Android fix when I want it

Hi,
I hope someone can help im trying to load Android on to my HD2 and ive not had much success so far.
Ive got through forums after forums and im now at a dead end!!
I have a typical HD2 - on the Virgin Network now ive been looking through youtube vids and forums and all there mobiles have been T-Mobile models (i dont no if this makes a difference) althought i no some one with a Virgin Mobile one and theyve done it they gave me a link to use that they used but its not longer active.
Ive tried serveral different Android Roms but nothing works i start the intall proces and i either end with this -
HaRET boot
Sutting down hardware
Turning off NMV...
In preloader
PSR=600000df
Tags reloadedto 0x11b00100 (size 0x00000f00)
Kernel rel0cated to 0x11B0B000 (SIZE 0X0026F2EE)
Initrd rel0cated to 0x12200000 (size 0x001cfde1)
Jumping to Kernel (custom) ...
AND FREEZES
or i get this -
The boot loader starts and seems to be loading and intalling and then for no reason just stops mid flow and fades out.
it this untill i take the battery out and put it back in again and it loads windows 6.5 fine.
this is doing my nut in and i would like to get rid of Windows 6.5 and have android put on to here it so much better!
I hope you can help thank you inadvance!
Cool Breeze
Firstly this section is for development not Q&A.
Second, What you are doing isnt going to replace your winmo 6.5, it will still be there. The process you are trying to do is simply to make your phone reboot into android kernel and boot from sd card from and android "build" NOT a "rom", You are not installing anything.
If you want to replace winmo you need to install MAGLDR and then flash one of the NAND roms to your phone.
I noticed you didnt mention anywhere about your spl or radio versions which makes me think you haven't even bothered to go and read any guides before creating this topic in wrong place.
Go and do some reading of the guides which you will find in the stickies or by searching forum.
Cool
Thank you i think! new to the website trying to find a little help and all i get is attitude wicked!!!
Sorry i posted in the wrong place but rather than giving me attitude you could point me in the direct of a threat that would help me!!

You haven't even bothered to do the most logical thing in a forum, which is to read the stickies where 9/10 the info you need is located.
So please give me a reason why I should wipe your arse?
I dont mind helping people alsong as they also try and help themselves, but people who come here and go directly into posting a topic is just pure lazyness. If you want help and support at least have the manners to attempt to read a little first.
Hey. I have some questions..
Im new in all of this an so pls forgive me if i ask something stupid
// I have an HD2 with 512MB Flash Memory / 576MB RAM
Im looking for an Android OS which runs stable, with good performance and if possible enough apps .. the battery life is not interesting for me.
So i hope, theres something out that fits my wishes
it would be nice if you could also link me the thread (or a video) where is exactly explained how to install the new os ( and of course a link where i can download the rom, if its not in the thread where it is explained how )
thank you

Other than that, just take your time and have a look through the NAND ROM section. Just open some that sound interesting to you from the titles and read the 1st post to see if it's what you want (Froyo or Gingerbread? Sense or no Sense?).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
I've not seen a ROM thread yet where the dev doesn't list what's working and what's not working, so you should be able to weigh it up yourself.
I only suggest you do this because there's no way I can tell you a good ROM. It's all subjective, and you're better knowing what options you have anyway, rather than me just giving you a link to the one I use and saying it's the best there is!
Good luck mate. If you get stuck on anything, read, read, read. If you really can't find help then you've found a very rare situation, so go ahead and ask.
Have fun
Thank you, that will help me for sure, but i have an other question.
What means "Sense or no Sense" ?
Do you know the HTC interface, HTC Sense? It's on the HD2 running WM by default, but also on Android HTC devices such as the Desire, Desire HD and Desire Z (to name but a few).
If you've never seen it it's worth a look. I personally don't use it as I prefer something more configurable, but a lot of people really rate it.
Here's a link to the Desire running Sense...

Hello,
I use a clean Android 2.3.2 and it works like a charm. 720p recording does not work, but it should be fixed in future. You can contact me via MSN or ICQ.. In german
Or you go to www.mobiletopia.de and you can read my Tutorial for flashing Android (http://mobiletopia.de/viewtopic.php?f=371&t=8275) if it is easier in german.
Im not exactly sure what it is, but i think that i like it.. so thank you very much .. I will give a try to the threads you posted above.
You're welcome mate. Good luck
You may also want to try one of the NAND builds, they replace Windows Mobile on your phone. I set up NexusHD2-Froyo V1.9b NAND for my girlfriend and she's reported no problems. It's been a few weeks now.
It runs very fast and stable.
Before you can install a NAND ROM, you will first need to install the MAGLDR. But it's all quite easy.

It's Android for the NAND of you HD2. That means that it will be installed in you phone memory.
An other option ist to install Android on your SD card and Windows Mobile is still on your device and you have to start Android from within Windows Mobile.
I think NAND is the better option, after you startet Android the first time you will never change back
P.S. i used a clean Android from the NAND-section fro Leo and it just works.
Im very new to the whole phone hacking, and porting, etc. like i dont know anything.
I want to install android or window phone 7 onto my HD 2 cause just cant stand the crappy 6.5wm.
What Os should i use. ICS, Window phone 7, etc? for daily uses. to completely replace wm 6.5.
And can someone link me to a guide for like a complete Newbs.
Dude,
Seriously? use the search button!
I'm a total N00b but even i figured it out on myself!

Hello
I am a completly newby relating to flashing Android to a HD2.
I've read several articles/postings but still am not sure, what I should exactly do. My device still has Windows Mobile 6.5 on it. And i want to permanently replace it with Android (only, no dual boot).
Should i go for NAND in that case?
Is there a completly tutorial available for a completly noob like me, how to securely flash Android on a HD2?
The ROM should be fast with a good battery life, dont need to have an overloaded device...
Thanks so much
Dominik
