How can I autorotate the screen on Tomtom start? - Touch 3G General

Hi
I want to make my jade rotate the screen to landscape mode once I start tomtom navigator 7. I'm using gyrator but I guess not finding an accelerometer renders the application useless, although the programming capabilities should still work.
What programs do you recommend me?
thanks in advance

Win mob 6.5 has got a rotate screen app on it not sure if it works with tomtom.

I just tried it and it does work with tomtom. You must already be running tomtom then go to the start menu\apps\rotate screen then press back and finally click on tt icon and it should work.

Screen orientation hardset for a particular app, is it poss?

Hi im playing with TomTom6 and unlike 5.21 it switches screen orientation when you flip out the keyboard, which is all well and good but when i mount the phone in the car i cant flip out the keyboard and 5 allowed me to switch the screen inside the app . Is there anyway i can hardset the screen setup for particular apps say from the shortcut or possibly a hidden switch in TT6 ?
Thanks
Matt
Does TomTom still support custom commands?
If so, couldn't you screen rotate from there?
eg

V
all you need to do is set up a hard key for screen rotation (settings/buttons), I use the button 4 hold and it works just fine in tomtom 6.
Thanks both of you both very usefull, oh and ageezee im not sure why i didnt think of trying that so to quote a few simpsons lines DOH dam my feeble brain. Im going to have a play around with both methods as the in car holder im looing at seems to cover the hard buttons so it would be nice to have a backup .
thanks again

Motion Sensor in all apps

Is there any way to make the motion sensor working in all applications?
I really would like the screen to be turned also in the acrobat reader for example...
Gsensor is the solution....
The GSen is indeed a good app to do the trick on the HD. Take a look here (also to download):
http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_util.html
I guess there will be more apps for it, but don't know them yet.

Exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks!
On my HD I cannot have Gsen launch at startup as I get an error message about it not being able to access the G-sensor.
I have to wait for TF3D to load and then load it manually. Not a biggie but a niggle - but less of a niggle than not having my screen reorient as I need it.

Yes, it is. More flexible, comfortable und stable.
Is there a way to get Gyrator to autostart?
Another thing is that when I push the -close all programms- button. It closes Gyrator as well. Is there a way to keep Gyrator running on the background?
Auto start and stop it closing
I couldn't get on with GSEN and had similar problems launching gyrator at start up....
so I wrote the simplest Mortscript....and attached it.
Just edit the script (if your Gyrator is intalled elsewehere, otherwise leave it), and copy a shortcut to the script to your startup folder.
Change the delay time till it fits for you.
You'll also need to download and install mortscript, but it's extremely useful & free!
see http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view
As for stopping it closing, click the tools (the spanners) in the HTC task drop down (where you go to close all apps) and set gyrator2 to exclusive.
Job done
Both apps work fine for me.
The only problem I have is within opera.
If I turn the screen, then opera turns, but then in the next second it turns back to portrait.
Opera is excluded from doing anything in both apps.
(Off course I only use one app at the time)
Any help for that?
no problem with opera here, using gyrator. turns screen in every direction i turn the device, except upside down.
gyrator works fine, although if you lock the device it will rotate your today screen as well. a bit annoying when the device is in your pocket the wrong way, answering a phonecall is kind of a challenge.
Still the same problem:
Using gyrator with the default settings, my Opera Browser first rotates to landscape when turning the device to landscape as it should.
Then after 2-3sec it rotates back to portrait even if the device is still holded in landscape.
Any idea?

Well Opera can be rotated with the motion sensor by default, try adding it in the Gyrator exceptions.

More reactive

I have the same problem!
Any solution yet?
Gyrator 2 was working fine but now I have a strange problem with it. After a softreset everything works as should, but for some reason after a little while whenever I turn the device in lanscape the creen reverts back to the TF3D tab in portrait that I had last used. Is it a setting that does this? When I disable gyrator 2 everything is fine, but then not everything rotates as I would like it to.
I have added two execptions to the standard ones, the today screen and the incoming call screen.
If anybody know an answer or has (had) the same problem I'd appreciate a fix/solution.
thanks!
Or MobileMagic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=449654
Which does not have issues with Opera...
And allows also to force apps to certain rotations....
But every app has its pros and cons...
Being a Newbie to winmob (formerly UIQ3) I am finding that Gens is OK on mosts screens but not on Home Page and the other TouchFlo screens. Am I doing something wrong - or probably stupid?
I was having lots of problems with all my apps. They seemed to only rotate sometimes, and I couldn't have the device even slightly flat or the rotation wouldn't occur.
I just was playing around with gyrator 2, went into edit event for (disabled) opera, orientation and checked all but the last two options and hit apply.
Opera is still showing as disabled, but what a difference!
Rotates really quickly, and when almost flat as well!

Navigation in Landscape mode

I have TomTom 7 and would like to either get it running in Landscape mode or get another application that runs in landscape.
What does everyone recommend.

Paul,
the program you are looking for are Gsen or gyrator, please do a search on screen rotation before you post.
and..
I was also hoping to get some info regarding navigation applications that nativity operate in landscape.
Tomtom rotated would be good but not optimized for wide screen.
Thanks

actualy tomtom rotated looks mighty fine on my touch hd, the map is not stretched. you get to see more map on both sides due to the wide screen.
i don't know if there are any winmobile gps applications that natively renders in landscap. but that could be me.
I have TomTom 7 and use Gyrator 2 with no problem at all.

i suggest to you to try also gsen to enable "auto" rotation anc IGO8 to use a better navigation software!

Google for AEButtonPlus. I use it to rotate my screen clockwards when I press and hold the volume button. No need to switch applications or anything.

Can the HTC Touch HD rotate screen in landscape mode?

Hi!
I just got the HTC Touch HD a couple of days ago.
Just wondering how to make the screen rotate on the HTC Touch HD in landscape mode.
Can anyone guide me on how to get the screen to rotate please?
download gyrator 2
also, use the search
Get a registry editor, then: HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
And yes.....you the search function.....it´s all been discussed before.......like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448142
Hi,
Great information, thank you very much ! I have successfully 'activated' this extra option with the use of Total Commander's built-in Registry Editor (another excellent find on this site ).
It is a great way to get a feel for what programms look like in Landscape Mode, since I haven't (yet) installed any Auto-Rotate programms.
Now I'd like to find a way to make accessing this Setting easier/faster because everytime you go back to a TouchFlo 3D screen the Device changes back to Portrait-mode. Back to browsing the forum; am getting my HD set-up the way I like it...one step at a time...

I understand popular alternatives are Gyrator 2 or Mobile Magic
I myself would like to be able to rotate the screen manually only. After editing the Registry as per the above description this is now possible on my Touch HD.
This however takes a lot of clicks so I hope to find a way to assign this option to either a Start Menu Shortcut or a long-press Hotkey. I think I stumbled across a post regarding this issue in one of my many hours reading through this forum and its Wiki. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time so I'll have to try and find that information again...

So why don´t you do just that? Assign the rotation to the long-press-answer-key. That´s what I´ve done from day one....

I found this little utility, it opens a pop-up window that rotates the screen and gives you the option of which position you want. I have used AEPlus button mapper to assign it to the "volume up" button. It works great, but the only thing is....don't try to rotate the TouchFlo3d windows, it doesn't like that at all. I think that is why the HD doesn't auto-rotate yet, TF3d can't take it. Start the app that you want to use, then activate the "Screen Rotate" utility.

Because I didn't know one COULD do that Hahaha... Thanks so much for pointing this out to me I did it right away and it works great...even with TouchFlo !
Was this option available in Key Assigment right away or only after the registry was altered as described above

yeah, thanks, that's where I got it from in the end, but it took until th 9th google search result to find that website and thus a working download location! That's rediculous for a freeware application!
Amusing thing is, I went to assign this to a button using AE Button Plus, and it turns out there's already an option in that program to assign buttons to "rotate screen" and "rotate screen clockwize" (american-sic) missed it before due to not looking for it specifically at the time!
Which screens are TF3d?
Is that the home screen (when tf3d is enabled)?
The screen doesnt remain in landscape mode.
After accessing the call menu it goes back to portrait mode.

I can get the phone screen to go landscape with the rotate app in AEBplus, but if I'm in landscape in another app and switch to the phone app, it goes back to portrait. Maybe the problem is the HTC phone screen, the generic WM probably works ok.
Matterhorn,
Actually I turned off TF3D from the Home menu in settings.
It still resets to portrait after accessing phone menu.

iGO8 and screen lock

Hello. I have a HTC HD2 and I am very happy !!
I have a problem, when I'm using iGO8 the screen lock appears and I have to unlock the phone to see again iGO8. Any way to stop this?
Thanks!!
The best forum is here!!!!
There's a setting in igo that enables the backlight to always stay on. Further more you could install s2u2 and add igo as an exeption. Thats what i did. I find it more usefull this way cuz i can have control over what locks the screen.
Thanks! I already found this option and it works perfectly.
Thank you again.
