Downloading through Opera without timing out - Dash 3G, Snap General

I'm downloading mp4 movies from tehparadox.com and if I let my phone sit, it times out and freezes. I would do it through skyfire but my downloads don't go to my memory card

Do you have the wi-fi settings set up to not time out? Go into the settings and in Connections, click wi-fi and see if you can mess with any settings in there to see if the timing out stops.

internet explorer / connections woes

yes, i have opera too, but this is sitll pissing me off.
i've been messing around with my vario II to have it be online both through my corporate firewall/proxy as well as on a normal internet connection.
something messed up. now, internet explroer no longer connects. i've tried numerous methods:
1) wireless (802.11) - says page not found, even though every other app works
2) 3G - says "locating" for like 30 seconds then says page not found
3) bluetooth/activesync - immediately shows a page under construction website, even if i'm opening google. this is for every site.
any tips?
something seems to have disappeared from my "connections" settings - now i no longer see the work connection / option to configure proxy. all i see now is my default "home" connection which only give the options "add a new modem connection" and "manage existing connections".
everythign else works fine.
any ideas?

I had exactly the same problems -- for weeks (although not with opera).
Called half an hour ago and got HSDPA enabled on my line.
Now works like never before!
I'm having the same issue, except that PIE WILL work with wifi, but not EDGE/GPRS.
Every other app works fine (Opera, Google Maps, etc) via wifi and EDGE/GPRS.
this may be unrelated, but when I had activesync on the pc set to 'automatic' instead of 'work' it would push proxy settings to my phone. verify this has happened by putting *.* for exceptions. if you can surf then, you have a proxy set up due to activesync from your work pc. some of my connections didn't show the proxy, but in the registry it was there. setting work pc to passthrough=work rather than automatic stopped this from happening again.
hope this was clear enough.
wes
Thanks for the suggestion, but its still a no go.
It just boggles the mind that PIE doesn't work through GPRS/EDGE/3G but every other internet enabled app does... and that PIE will work through WiFi makes it even more strange.. Usually its the other way around for most people (problems with WiFi, not their mobile data connection).
I've even run the \windows\welcome.exe a few times, as this seems to have fixed it for some others.
I've also tried switching to wap.cingular (MEdia net), hard coding openDNS servers as well as the old standbys (4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2).

Connection issues...

Hi there,
Recently upgraded to the 1.48 rom and since then been having connection issues of all kinds.
Basically, when on 3G or equivalent I get timed out connections when contract internet / data connection is turned on and supposedly working. I then have to soft reset the handset to get access again. There's no specific time this happens, it is quite random though I have noticed it happens without fail after I upload to Facebook or send email?!
I also have a problem with iPlayer or streaming flash video (I have run the Opera Flash patch). Again, I will be downloading and streaming happily but after ten minutes (flash) or 5 minutes (iPlayer) of video the stream drops and I have to refresh the page or restart the stream. This is frustrating on an hour long programme. This happens on 3G and WiFi
Are there any settings I can play with or registry entries I can change so that streaming is continuous?
I am using Windows Media not Core Player - if this is the issue let me know.
Thanks
go to
settings > connections > issues > clear all
and reboot your device..
but seriously maybe some restriction of your provider? have you tried it without the proxy? (if any)
I'm having some connection issues with 3G/HSDPA on certain sites (eBay). I can get through the links from my web gmail to ebay hyperlinks (questions, offers, sold items, etc) OK via WIFI but not on 3G. It was working but these 2 days. Doubt it's the provider doing anything. I've upgraded to 2.07 Radio from 2.05
I'm just running off the standard Vodafone connection and my Virgin Media connection at home - Netgear router, no additional firewalling etc.
It happens elsewhere though and is sporadic. I'm going to update the ROM as soon as 1.66 becomes available over here in the UK. Hopefully that'll tidy things up.
Randomly, I can't send picture attachments from Outlook but if I log in to Yahoo on Opera I can attach them! Weird.
HOW CAN ADJUST MY CONNECTIONS IN ORDER TO CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY VIA WIFI AND ALTERNATIVELY VIA MY PROVIDER (GPRS etc)
DOES ANYBODY HAS AN ANSWER WILL BE HELPFULL
THANKS IN ADVANCE

wifi connection issue

What's up guys? I have a problem. Here at school we can connect to the public wifi and what happens is that when u open the browser it directs u to a clean access software where u log in then u have interner access. This worked fine on my iphone but the x10 sometimes when I open the browser the page wouldn't even load and sometimes I can log in but then it doesn't work after I log in. What's wrong here? Do I have to register the MAC address with the school?
Might sound like a basic solution, but have you tried from a different browser? (i.e. Opera Mini or SkyFire)
It works fine for me. I have it set to automatically connect to my school network when in range. And all I have to do then is open up my browser and just type in any random website, and it redirects me to the school site automatically, where I can log in. And then I'm set to go. Occasionally though it does stop working, like maybe after 10-15 mins... I found it disconnects when your screen turns off. There's an option to keep you wifi always on.. I think the default is set to "turn off when screen is off" so it disconnects then. If you want to change that setting, go to settings and then wifi and manage connections I think it was, and then press the menu button on the phone and the setting for wifi come up and you can select wifi to always remain on.
Hope this helped.
thanx for the replies guy i will try a different browser when i go to school and see if this works and will reply

[Q] Serious connectivity issues

Hello people, I have been fairly happy with my transformer performance wise but wifi is just not working for me... Market downloads stall and fail, market search stall and fail, youtube videos stop loading, browser will start loading a page and the loading bar will go away but it will still be on the old page, upnp music streaming also randomly stops saying that it failed to load. I have tried doing multiple hard reset, reset my modem and router to no avail. It is getting extremely frustrating. What should be my next options? The connection works fine on all my other devices so I know it's a problem with the tablet.

I could aslo be that your Transformer does't like your router settings. Something to rule out before you deside to return it. You are not the only who has experienced issues with wifi.
It's usually always the router. I also notice that the TF sucks up a lot of the bandwidth. For example if my tablet is on, wifi on my laptop dips down to 11mbps.

Xiaalive

I use an application called Xiaalive to listen to a Shoutcast stream.
When my Display timesout it shuts down my WiFi or data connection. Primarily, I would like to use this app with my Data connection.
If I set the display timeout to 10 minutes, the app will stream for 10 minutes. If the screen timesout, it stops. I open the display back up, it fires up the data connection and the stream starts again.
Anyway to make this particular app able to maintain it's data connection even when the screen goes dark?
You should check your wlan standby settings...

I've never seen the settings you are talking about. Where are they?
Actually the 3G/4G is where the biggest issue is at.
Wlan settings-> press left menu button -> advanced settings -> wlan standby settings
Changing from wlan to 3G may result in an ip number change. All open connections will interrupt.
