Hi,
What is the registry setting (if any) to change the WM 6.5(.x) setting from WiFi channel 1 to any other channel. This is an important setting to get the HD2 WiFi Router to work also in an environment with heavy WiFi traffic around.
Sorry that my attempts to search for a solution has failed. Please feel free to flame me. But when this is done, please post llink to relevant thread, if any.
Regards,
artreides

Hi,
I had a problem where no wireless device would pick up my HTC HD2's wireless router. In the end I changed the WiFi channel of my office router and all worked perfectly, so if someone has the answer to how to change the wireless channel on WM6.5 please post it
Maybe the channel gets assigned when you hard reset the phone as I had to change my WiFi router away from channel 11, so I assume the phone is on 11.
Cheers
surely its all done via the router not the phone, the router broadcasts on channel X and the device just accepts on that channel
Is there any solution to this issue? would love to know the answer.

@Richy99 & p107r0: can you read in English with understanding?
What about the router function embedded in HD2? artreides is asking about HD2 WiFi Router so please don't reply until you know how to change its channel settings or you've got something really valuable to say

my bad
....
No worries...
... but, going back to the subject: anybody knows how to change it? I don't believe it is locked down to the hardware so there has to be a way to change it software-wise... anybody?
WMwifiRouter has a setting for changing channel but the inbuilt router does not & I have not seen a reg value linked to it in my registry browsing ...

simple enough i cant connect to my home wifi using my wizard.
It is able to find the network, and says it is "available" but when i press connect it goes ... "connecting" and then returns to "available"
Ive read through most threads on this forum and no one seems to have this problem, i have changed to power setting to best performance as well.
However i dont know what to put in the Enrole tab...? this is porbably the source of my problem.
please help me!
Hi, The problem could be the speed of your router connection. Set it to be able to connect to b end g clients.
In my case this worked. I Had the same problem you descibed, so give it a try!
Gert-Jan
thanks for the suggestion, but im running three computers over this wifi network already, and two have "g" wifi cards and one has a "b" card. so i dont think this is my problem.

My first problem was forgetting I'd got MAC filtering active on the AP. Once I'd added the Wizard's mac address things got better.
What encryption are you running?
Dox
Exact same problem as you jimmy_boy.
Quite frustrating not being able to connect to the wireless network.
I am wondering if it is a rom-specific problem...I am using an O2 XDA mini S, on vodafone. Would this cause the wifi to lock up?
Unsure as what to try next. If someone could shed some light on the situation it would be much appreciated.

Shouldn't do, I've got the same setup here and WiFi is fine.

If I have the power on anything but Best Performance, I get flakey throughput, even right on top of the AP. Both my laptop and iPAQ hx4700 will find the AP from all corners of the house, whereas the Wizards both want better signal strength before they'll connect.
Like I asked jimmy_boy, what encryption are you running?

I also experienced this problem and what I did to fix it was, changing the channel on my access point. I stepped through each channel stopping and trying it until I found a channel that worked.
I turned the encryption off. If I goto "Network adapters" it shows the name of my connection and "available", but when I goto "wireless lan" tab, it shows me no information on the connection at all.
Tried setting the power setting to max as well. Still nothing.
Would appreciate it, if someone could step by step explain how to do this.
thanks in advance.
I also have the exact same problem as described in the first post. I do have MAC filtering on, but I've also added the MAC of my Wizard.
I haven't tried changing the channel though...
yeah gdap thats exactly what i get, im running WEP encryption, but ive entered the network key into the wizard as well, i know this is correct, becasue i entered it in wrong on purpose to see if there is an error message and there is. So it knows the network key the network is available yet it stil wont connect!!!!!
Any ideas??
im running the uk t-mobile rom so i dont think its the roms problem.
changing the channel of all 4 computers ... oh the effort
but i might give it a shot
Same problem here
I can connect with my Exec, but not with my gf's Wizard. Same symptoms. It says the network is available if I get the key right, but then won't connect. Please help!
My Qtek 9100 can connect to my encrypted 802.11b AP, get's a valid IP address from the DHCP server, but is not able to communicate with TCP/IP. Also the other members of the wireless LAN can not see my Qtek nor is PING responding. PWLAN from Swisscom here in Switzerland is working well, the login page is showing up.

I get the same issue: my 9100 connects to my router and receives a valid IP address. Even though the IP Address/Subnet Mask are valid, I cannot seem to get any access to the internet via wifi. I find this very frustrating, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it very much.
Exact same problem myself, but I think I only have my router set at 'G', where the o2 Mini is 'b' only.
Connected to both of my Morrisons supermarkets wireless network tho, they're both on 'b'........ no encryption in either of them.
problem solved!!!!!
stupidly i forgot to add the MAC address of my wizard
thanks for the help Dox

Please explain
Check on the setup page on your router that MAC address filtering is not enabled. If it is you will need to add the MAC address of your Wizard's Wlan card in order to connect.
Often forgotten but excellent security feature is MAC address filtering
Sorted, as I thought, I had to set router to transmi b as well as g
No need to flash the Rom now

On your wifi router settings on your computer, you have to add the MAC address of the wizard, which can be found by , settings, advanced tab on your wizard.
Hi, i thought this falls under hacking so I posted it here. First off, allow me to mention that my device is an O2 Atom. I work for a corporation w/c has it own internal security implementation. I'm not sure, if the said corporate security is the reason, that I could not detect any access points(AP)? But my pc w/c also has a custom corporate build, can detect and successfully connect to the APs. Can the corporate restrict or hide it from an unauthrorize personal device, like my O2 Atom?
The wifi in my atom is working fine, as I could verify this by connection from my brothers house, w/c has his on personal internet connection w/ wireless access point(AP) setup. I've also used several wireless detection applications here and there, but still could not detect wifi in the office area. Kindly advice.

The Atom (as far as I'm aware) only supports Wi-Fi 802.11b
One reason is the network you cant see might be a 802.11g or n, which is not able to be connected to.. you can nicely ask your network admin to enable .11b backwards compatability.
Another reason is because they are maybe not broadcasting the network name SSID, your device cant see it - even though it is actually there. I don't know if the Atom has the ability to specify a network connection it cant see.
Hope this helps.

can a registry tweak enable this 802.11g or n thing? i saw in one of the threads here the said registry tweak and sk tools has this. i tried both but still no luck would you happen to know if it is hardware or is it really possible to strech this capability on atom?

the g/n wifi options are hardware specific, so unless you want to buy a new phone you might be out of luck, sorry to say.
I'm surprised your network admin has not enabled 'b' compatabilty, but there's so many different security concerns he may have done it for the right reasons. Talk to them, it's the only way to be sure (be warned though - a lot of admins wont like you using non-offical hardware on their networks)

hi snachez, our network admin verified that our APs are running on B and G. i've also verified that my unit is B compliant. btw, my device is an O2 Atom. i think i mess it up with the registry tweak i mentioned before. apparently is it for another device. my mistake this is the said registry tweaks:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS: dot11SupportedRateMask=1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS: dot11SupportedRateMaskG=8
Your problem is probably that the SSID isn't being broadcasted, so you'll have to connect manually.
btw, i'm using a cooked rom. maybe there is somebody out there that is still using the official wm5 for o2 atom, please verify and post the default(O2 Atom official wm5) registry of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS: Thanks in advance...
Hello everybody!
I'm sorry, that I post here, but as I'm pretty new, I'm not allowed to write anything in the developers forum. I successfully enabled wifi in android and the phone finds my wlan network. When I enter the wlan-key the phone first connects and also establishes the connection. Unfortunately after it has connected it tells me, that it's out of range an tries to reconnect. Thus I never have a stable network, although the signal strength is at maximum. Has anybody also encountered this problem? Any hints? Router is Fritz!Box 7113 and wlan is wpa2 secured.
Already thanks for your replies!
get a better router(Linksys)..this has NOTHING to do with Android WiFi!
I know that my router is not the best, but I have several devices which have access to the router (two notebooks, one pc, xbox 360, windows mobile on HD Mini) and there the connection has always been stable and reliable. I NEVER had any disconnects now in the last three years. Therefore I'd suggest it's a software problem. Also somebody else has posted in the developers thread for wifi on android, that he has the same problem.
Okay now, I solved the problem preliminary.
First I used Android 2.2, where the problem occured. Now I switched back to 2.1 and patched the files in order to enable wlan. In 2.1 I can establish a stable connection to my router. Strange! Maybe someone could also mention that in the developers thread to help people who also had that problem.

hi all, i'm here because i think here there will be someone expert that can tell me why my htc hd2 doesnt recognize my new tp link router. never happened before. it doesent even see the net, also manually adding ssid and the security stuff it doesnt collaborate. the router model is: tp link TD-W8961ND, 2.4 Ghz... i see it is a NAT router, what does it mean? , should i change some settings in the modem's configuration? thanks
p.s. sorry for bad english

*Before I begin, have you tried turning it(the router) off and then back on?*
Are you able to see/connect to the router from other devices? (laptop? another phone? gaming device?)
What security settings do you have set on the router?
Do you have "Broadcast SSID" option (or similar) enabled?
Is your HD2 able to see OTHER wifi networks and connect to them?
Do you have on the router the filtering function active with mac addresses ?

ok, in the order... (obviously i tried to on/off the router)
YES, i am connected through PC, htc one and apple ipod.
what do you mean with "security" ? i have WPA2-PSK encryption and AES authentication, SSID and WPS enabled, mac addresses filter disabled, do you need anything else?
i have the option "SSID visibility" enabled, is it comparable? should i turn it off? any consequences?
yes, i connetected it to other wireless "n" router and "g" router without poblems

Okay, what channels do you have the router set to? And what channel width?
If you have the option "Auto", set both (channels, and channel width) to it. Then restart the router and try connecting now.
Edit: The channel settings should be in the "Wireless" section.

Okay, leave the width to 20/40. And set the channel to 1 or 2 and try again.
There are two android apps, one called "Wifi Analyzer" and "WiFi Manager". Download either of them and try scanning for networks from there.
