Is there anyway to disable this toggle...only thing I don't like about the stock keyboard.
It irritates me typing along, going for "a", and accidentally turning XT9 off...
could the key delay for he toggle be set to a second or 1.5 seconds? then it would'nt accidentally swap to ABC all the time.

I saw a hack on how to stop the popup keyboard from always coming on but i can't find it again. Anyone know where it is in the registry please???
Do you mean only when the slide-out keyboard is open? Or all the time?
If you are talking about the on screen keyboard the way to stop it is to simply start typing when it pops up (with the hardware keyboard). If you close it without typing your not going to stop its auto start routine.
I'm sure this has been answered so search next time!
Is there anyway to turn it off? don't think have any use for its function and other languages.
There is an XT9 entry in the settings.
Im having this problem too. Im using the Sprint Snap if that makes a difference but if I go into settings and change any of the XT9 settings, they revert as soon as I hit done.

for whatever reason there are two possible ways to get into the xt9 settings and only one of them saves the changes. i can't remember how to get to them with the other method but someone will.
with my snap i just press (while typing a text) FN + space and then turn predictive text off
to turn off xt9 maybe its like the excalibur hit alt then space give that a shot
where is the "alt' key. I can only see fn and shift key
I have the same issue with the Ozone. Need to find how to emulate an "ALT" key?
Found it for the Ozone. Press and hold the "SYM" kery while in text typing mode in SMS or email. It then lets you turn XT9 on & off and saves it.
Hi everyone.
Is there a known way to totally disable or obliterate the TX9 key on the keyboard, either by removing the button or not make it clickable? I never use the XT9, can't stand it and though its off on the options I keep touching it with my big fingers and activating it by mistake when typing. Drives me crazy.
Thanks in advance
Any one figure out how to turn off the vibrate while typing on keyboard, without turning off the haptic touch buttons at the bottom?
I wasvtrying to do it too, no option it seems. Hopefully somebody has better ideas though.
Can turn off Haptic feedback in Sound and display but that turns off all Haptic feedback on the phone but it will make it stop giving you feedback on the samsung keyboard
Yeah, don't see any settings for the 'vibrate on keypress' for the Samsung Keyboard. Only advice I could give would be to use the Swype Keyboard (you don't actually have to swipe. You can still type) and disable 'vibrate on keypress' in Swype's settings.
Hi everyone,
Basically I am experiencing several nuisances that I hope some of you might have answers too.
Screen lock: The problem here is especially when reading something the screen will lock as its supposed to and I will have to unlock it with the slide lock in addition to the unlock pattern (I enabled it). What I'm looking for is a way to delay the screen lock. For example, if the screen blacks this should be an indication the screen is about to lock, allowing a 2-5 sec window for me to stop the locking if I'm looking at something.
Keyboard: I have the HTC IME mod, the one that comes with the rooting process. What I experience is when I am typing and if I make a mistake and use the left most arrow key to navigate to the mistake and correct it and then use the right most arrow key to navigate back this key will insert a "o" character for every time its pushed. I can push backspace and backspace will delete all of this characters at once. But if I pus the same key again it puts the "o" back. The only way to correct this is to use the left most arrow key once and then i can use the right most arrow key to navigate back.
Does anyone have any way around these issues?
Just constantly touch the screen or do something so it won't auto-lock.
Alternatively, just set the timeout higher.
I've never heard of the second issue.
I've had the keyboard problem with stock X10i keyboard, I turned off "word suggestion" which I found to be annoying rather than helpful. Problem solved!
As for the screen timeout problem you either extend the time before the screen times out, go to "Settings", "Sound & display" and "Screen timeout". You can set for a number of minutes or never and to make the phone sleep you'll need to press the lock button or there are apps on the market with a widget that that stops the phone sleeping until it is pressed again.
Hope that helps.
