cost in the uk? - Nexus One General

hey guys,
im considering getting one of these i am currently rocking a blackberry 8900 and htc touch hd running winmo 6.5 and android 2.1. after using android on the touch hd i love it and im wanting to get a fully working android device, as android is very unstable on the touch hd so what is the pricing to get one of the devices shipped to the uk? i know its about £340 without shipping but with shipping what does it come to, also when getting this shipped to uk will it be a multi touch version?

Its ~£360 with shipping
+ ~£60 for tax
So about £420.
It should be the multitouch version, if not, update it with the software...

nah they come with old firmware, just go to about device in settings and click check for update and bang downloads from the net to ur fone, do it through wifi, as its 15 meg..

yeah hopefully by the time i have the money (in a bout 2/3 months) its will be on vodaphone in the uk and that will hopfully mean that the prices will drop to around the 350-375 mark and then i will defiantly get one

Or for those entrepreneurs out there, how's about.. you could always buy 5 @ $285 (2-8-5 US Dollars, roughly £182) each, sell 4 (say @ £300 - profit £75 each allowing for shipping etc etc..)- so one free N1 & £75 extra)
Google Search alibaba for Nexus One... surprising number of people flogging them in quantity... Could be crooks of course..
Cheers!

Sorry to sound a bit down, but I think maybe you're asking too much? People here seem to be savvy enough to see you can buy an MDA Pro for £300 + 12 * £15 on UFIX. That's without shopping around or discounts, that's the RRP from T Mobile. All you're saving is the £15 unlock fee, but T Mobile haven't even charged me for that after I paid the early cancellation charge.
Or people can get an XDA Exec for £229 + 12 * 8 with 5mb data per month. That's £155 less.
Both of these are for "brand new", never taken out of the box, still with warranty-seal units. I really think you need to drop the price or list it on ebay.
Best of luck.
How much is the early cancellation charge?
I'm very happy with my T-mobile contract but sometimes need to put my work sim card in it to use it abroad on business..Currently my company uses t-mobile so no problem but they're chaging to A.Nother

Yes. My line rental was something like £2.60 plus a charge of about £9 + VAT for my internet access. I paid £200 for my MDA Pro on a 12 month upgrade contract.
LIES, ALL LIES
Just checked my account details, my rental was MUCH more than £2.60
Price plan and other
Price plan £2.98
Other charges and services £8.51
all plus VAT
i know its a bit too much but i payed 380 quid for the device on upgrade
i will accept offers in the range of 420..............
Best of luck, but I reckon Ebay will yield best results.

Thanks.
O2 shops. They look up the price in their pamphlet (£229.99)
They look up the data plans in the same pamphlet. They tell you if you go on the £40/month plan (512mb) , they can sell you the Exec for £159, otherwise it's £229. At least, that's what both O2 stores in Norwich say.
Am I reading your post right though? £229 plus 12 months at £8 per month?
The cheapest I could find the Exec was £139 plus 18 months at £19. Maybe I should get out more...

Best deal in UK for HD2?

Hi
I am currently trying to find the best deal in the UK for the HD2. I dont really want to pay more than £30 a month, and hence am happy to a point to pay some money upfront.
So far, I think its mobile phones direct, with t-mobile combi 30 with web and walk over 18 months. I just have to pay £54.99 up front plus I can get £30 cashback off topcashback.
I wondered though if anyone gas found a better deal?
I tried o2, and even with a open discount I have through my work, I have to stump up alot of money. Vodafone deals dont seem so great.
Thoughts?
Scott
Im doing expansys and then simplicity, it's cheaper in the end!
Buying direct from T-Mobile may be a good option. I've found that if you ring them up you can usually get better terms than they advertise on their website. I've just ordered an HD2 from them; £36 a month for 18 months, but the phone is free, and that includes 1000 minutes, 500 texts, and their Web'n'walk Plus internet service (which has a 3GB per month limit rather than the standard 1, and permits tethering). If I'd gone with the standard Web'n'walk package I could have got unlimited texts.
And I'm not very good at haggling - you could probably get a better deal than I did!
I'm on an 18 Month contract with o2 35 a month
600 mins
1000 texts
unlimited 3G internet
95 for the phone
@onisuk, was that through the carphone warehouse though?

Thanks for the heads up on the topcashback Scott - Tmobile are really gonna have to take a beating to match this when I come to upgrade from my Diamond (MDA IV)!!!
I'll be offloading the Diamond to Mazuma too - £103 cash or £113 in Argos vouchers. Probably easier than TeaBAy!

But it's not on their site!? I'm very confused how to find out where to buy it, my iPhone is out of contract in a couple of days and so not sure to hold out and see if they can give me a better deal with the phone rather than haggling over simplicity!
they're available to existing customers, just call up o2 and speak to upgrades or retentions. It probs won't be available for new customers for a while so won't be on the website for a while.
Hope that helps!

Tried this several times but each time I get "we cant give you a deal yet as untill its in stock we cant work out the cost to us..." exasperated doesn't quite cover it!

craiglist = HA

If you buy an EVO 4g off craigslist for the price they are selling them for, you deserve it. I think it'd be cheaper to buy it on a new line for 199.99 and take the ETF.. LOL
all the ones around the atlanta area were for around $650... I think I can wait a week and get mine for $199.
However, I can't say it didn't cross my mind to bust out my check book.
I wish I could just put myself into a cryogenic sleep for 10 days.
... on a side note, that might be the nerdiest, most pathetic thing I've ever said.
There's more of a cost than just ETF, taxes, etc...
I got mine pretty cheap, cheaper than the $199 cost + ETF, so for me anyway I won at your logic..
Plus if you get one of the I/O phones, you get an extra $10 off your monthly cost (which they don't list it as a year or two year thing either...) because it's a dev phone.

$199 + ETF is not less than $199.
I myself am going a route that is not to be discussed on this forum... but I don't want to buy a phone for $450 + Taxes (around here it's roughly 10%), so in the end it'd have been close to $500. So instead of that, I paid less than $400 with a free month of service (including 4g, and the option to go the dev plan route later).
But yes, $600-700 is too much, but there's a decent amount of people out there with more money than time. Just like Wii, iPhone, etc.
I paid 500 for mine straight up, new in box. After having it a week I will say it was worth every penny! This is the device I have been waiting for all my life.
i'm excited for the phone, but you guys are like fiending for it... the device you've been waiting for all your life?
I got mine for $500. It is out for delivery right now. The anticipation is killing me!

Same here. I'm not remotely eligible for upgrade yet, so I'd be paying $450 + tax for it anyway. $500 for the phone and getting in on the $10 off via the Google I/O dev deal is worth it!

I think the cheapest deal to just get the GS2 is with O2
£150 phone
+ £10.5/months for 24 months
- £50 cash back from topcashback or quidco
= £352 total
The cashback is a bit hit or miss since I haven't had mine tracked yet but others have theirs tracked. But in the worst case that the cashback wouldn't track, you still get the phone for £402, which is still less than what most retailers are selling the GS2 atm.
p/s1: the £10.5/month contract will get you 50 minutes and 250 texts
p/s2: O2 will also unlock your phone for free as well
Check Carphone Warehouse. Bought mine a few weeks ago 490 sim free.

£579 for 64GB model the UK

https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/h....html#!colour=black&capacity=64GB&dealType=sf
No free Home Mini but that's £34 at the moment.
That's not a bad a price for this beast in Europe (with V.A.T.), considering it's phone that will get Android P (2018), Q (2019) and R (2020) and will be updated until S (2021) is released.
I payed like 630£ + 50£ DHL forward shipping with insurance; and a 3% bank fee (for converting from £ to €) to get one of these in Spain. I can't believe Google decided to sell only the XL in Spain and Italy, and not the regular one.
Is it safer to purchase from the Google Store?

I've been considering this offer myself, however I've seen other comments in past discussions strongly advising against not purchasing from the Google store direct... I do wonder if saving £50, and not getting the free Home Mini (therefore a net saving of only £15 if you want one of those too) is worth this risk?
If indeed it is a risk? Does anyone know if it really is a bad idea not buying from Google?

As far as I know, Google will still handle the warranty. They are fairly decent as when my Pixel C through up issues they just issued me with a replacement (admittedly the touchscreen had failed so it wasn't like I could just reset it).

There's also a delay for Home Mini if you go down the Google route as they send you a code for it after 4 - 6 weeks.
I'm also considering this, but as I'm not from UK and I'll have a friend send it to me, I'm wondering if I should proceed.
Does Google address any possible problems or they direct you to the seller?
PS The only difference is the locked bootloader in this one?

Other things notwithstanding, I think you said it all there. When you're paying nearly £600 for the phone anyway (plus Home Mini), £15 seems a small price to pay for less potential hassle/"insurance".

Indeed, that's my current thinking too - saving £15 but adding a middleman makes this an offer I don't feel inclined to rush into. I believe it's running until 4th December, so I've a few more days to ponder. I may leave it until the New Year now to see if any better offers come along in January - although doing so then would mean missing Google's free Home Mini offer!

£509 (upfront) from cpw on a 24 month O2 contract, but you can legitimately cancel the O2 contract on day 1 and keep the phone you paid for. Also tcb of £55 meaning a 128gb none XL for £454.
Yeah, it looks like buying the pixel in the UK is the way to go. It costs almost 1000 EUR in my country: is it cause of google or is it cause of the government, it's a ripoff.
