HD2 and Manila v1.0 - HD2 General

This is doing my head in and hoping you may know the answer...
I have a Telstra branded HD2 here in Australia with the Manila version 1.0.19211622.1. It was purchased from a Telstra store so all is legitimate.
I'd like to implement some changes such as Cookie's Home Tab but my Manila version is not listed being compatible. I tried to install it anyway but did not work correctly (eg. nothing was listed in the Calendar section).
I notice everyone and most pages referring to Manila 2.5.x.
What is this version 1.0 all about??? Can I just update Manila to v2.5?
I understand I can update ROM using HSPL but I don't want to void warranty in any way, nor do I want any potential problems using UTMS 850 band.
Thanks.

I've been wondering the same too. It seems strange that the handset has only just been released in Australia but has version 1.0 Manila?

That is REALLY odd!
I'm afraid you will only be able to use most of the manila tweaks posted in this forum by flashing a custom ROM with 2.5...

You can update with the official Telstra ROM from the HTC site.

Manila Version 2.5.20121431.1

Manilla version and button assignment.

First of all, I just received my new Touch HD last week and I'm looking at the current version of Manilla and ROM. In Settings/About it says:
TouchFLO 3D 1.3.37395.0_1630.38
From which I understand it is running Manilla 1.3? What is the full ROM version? I just don't know how that number is split.
So, it would appear the Manilla is quite old. Is it possible to simply update Manilla on its own?
Is there a newer official HTC ROM with a later version of Manilla?
Is it possible to change the soft button assignments just with Registry tweeks, rather than installing another utility to do it? How?
Thanks.

I bet there is, check htc.com, pick your country and head over to Support.
Latest official roms can be found either on HTC.com or here on XDA.
To update to a newer version of manila you need to flash a rom which has newer version on it. You cannot just update manila as it is embedded into the rom.
I've established that I have the latest version of the official HTC ROM - 1.56 etc, so would I be correct in thinking that it's all just TouchFLO 3D 1.3 from HTC?
Shame I can't just update TF3D:-(
Is it likely HTC will release a new ROM with a later version of TF3D? Are they likely to release a new ROM with WM6.5 some time?
What version of TF3D has the coloured TAB icons?
Is there an explanation anywhere that explains the precise differences between the various versions of TF3D?

Extremely doubtful that you will ever get a stock rom with either manila 2.0+ or wm6.5 for the HD. To get these you need a cooked rom. Why would HTC spend time on this when newer model phones are being released. They want you to pay for it and buy a new phone. Not get it free on an free upgrade.
You are gonna have to use a cooked rom to get what you desire. Read guide in my signature for advice on flashing and post further flashing queries in that thread
Use the search function and search for manila 2.0, 2.1 & 2.5 and you'll see the differences.

Telstra Diamond2 - Mobile 6.5 Rom?

Anyone know if there is going to be an Australian ROM that will bring the AU Diamond2 up to 6.5? It is not on the HTC site and I would imagine, since the AU version has the 850 Next G band radio one could not simply flash any other ROM version correct? Anyone try any other ROMs with this phone yet?
Anyone even own the Telstra Diamond2 then? No Aussies?
I just received a Telstra branded Diamond2 from my work...and it had 6.5 installed. OS 5.2.21859, Rom Version 2.31.841.6 (64646) WWE, Radio 4.48.25.20. Manila is v2.1. Any other info you require?

Extract new TF tabs from rom 1.49 possible?

Can any chef extract and impliment the four new tabs: programs, social, search and tv tabs from the new 1.49 rom and cook into new tweaked roms?
http://htc.hdblog.it/2009/12/11/agg...-1-48-408-1-italiano-e-1-49-841-1-in-inglese/
SORRY! should have gone in the other 1.49 thread. Apologies.
Is this for real?! A program tab is back?! SEXY!
i'd love it if this was possible
would they not be in the new Rom 1.61 HTC Stock TUR-WWE?
Well.. Idont think it would be any problems to cook the new tabs into a ROM, but making a cab to a random manila version could maybe cause some issues. The 2.5 manila is devided in sections (in VK), so i dont se why it wouldt work..
They are only part of the Telstra branded 1.49 rom. It is a carrier mod not an official HTC one.

new rom 2.01!

Post taken from htcpedia.com
So you want to download the 2.01 rom????
well here ya go:

The T-Mobile ROM it’s a test only ROM for T-Mobile US and has radio issues in Europe, most OS/Drivers etc are older than the 1.61 ROM even thought some HTC apps are newer (keyboard, Album, Teeter, etc). I wouldn’t recommend flashing your HTC HD2 with it right now.
htc HD2 new rom 2.01 test with document tab preview:
protocol: 15.28.50.07u
radio: 2.05.50.11
romdate: 12/01/09
romversion: 2.01.531.7 (72923) wwe
manilla version: 2.5.1921.4010.0
o.s. version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)

Look at my above post, but be sure to read the warning attached to it.
A test ROM for T-mobile USA? Has radio issues in Europe?
Hmm, might give some hope to people in the US who bought the phone, but can't use 3G... perhaps flashing the radio ROM changes the frequency over to US 3G standards.
I know one of my previous phones could be ROM flashed to change the GSM frequency - magician, wizard or kaiser, not sure.
can someone pull the newer apps??

Confused - What is the LATEST Shipped ROM out there???????

This link: http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html shows the latest Shipped ROM being Leo 2.10.
That's strange, the XDA WIKI doesn't show such shipped rom with such version!
So I am totally confused here.
Currently I have this ROM installed : Worldwide 1.66.405.2
(RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe)
But I am wondering if there is a MORE RECENT SHIPPED ROM than that?
And what are the enhancments. Any new programs or stuff in it?
Seems ROM 1.66.405.2 which I have is quite old, didn't HTC release anything newer and improved / better performing after that ?
Would appreciate you guys replies.

ROMs for TMob USA devices come with a 2.xx version - this base is frequently used by chefs for cooking custom ROMs.
European and ROW HD2´s (as of today) are still at 1.6x/1.7x (depending on the area where the device is bought).
As you are not really more specific about some key details, this is the best answer I can give.

Hey, thanks alot for the reply, I appreciate it.
My current ROM as I wrote is WWE 1.66.405.2. No language specific.
I am just wondering if using the 1.7 or 2.10 have improvments in terms of speed, bug fixes or functionality over the WWE 1.66.405.2 which I currently have. Or maybe they would actually make my device more 'T-Mobilish' giving a bunch of non usefull stuff and overhead.

Hey mate I think it goes like this, TMOUS and EU ROM's only differ in whats for your device, so you are expressing you use 1.66 meaning you have a European base on you phone so the highest in the base 1.xx is what your searching for. As for whether the latest is the best that's another question I cant answer.

If you don't have a TMOUS device, so you better not install a TMOUS ROM, due to radio and SPL differences.
i think 1.72 based (official) ROMs could have some improvements over 1.66, but mainly they are the same... only 1.72 are released a bit later for branded devices (1.72 ROMs carry the 1.66 SPL).

Thanks. I saw some snapshots of HD2 Running newer ROMs (I think above 2.0) and they had another home tab called 'Documents' I would call this is a good improvement over the 1.66 I have which doesn't have Documents tab. So I guess that the 2.0 (Tmobile ??) Roms are more improved. Pitty Euro versions don't have that. But since you warned against putting t-mobile US rom on a european device I will just wait.

some custom roms, that run very well on non TMOUS devices (all over the world) do have the document tab incorporated (see my signature )
all the roms and radios, regular and tmous, cooked or ship, will work just fine on the normal hd2. its only tmous users that can't flash our roms, we can flash theirs.
the 1.7 rom seems to be just 1.66 with the updates already applied.(though i'm no expert on that)

Wow it's pretty cool, why is the Telstra version always more compatible and in the HD case it was reported to be much more stable, is it because it is released 6+ months after US?

ermm, , , us version came out way after telstra, telstra is identical to euro/asia hd2, All roms will work on any spl on telstra and euro.
you are on 1.42.hspl because hspl2 doesnt work on telstra, nothing to do with stability or compatibility. if anything its less compatible than the euro/asia, cos teh euro can take all spl and all roms, including tmous, everything.

Yes I noticed after that it meant the Euro was still more compatible, which indeed was the first release? Then to AUS and then to US. Yes sorry I was thinking of the HD which was much delayed.
