IPAQ Accessories with XDA II

Before I dust off my Volt meter, can anyone advise whether I can use my cradle, PSU and PC to IPAQ USB cable, Cigarette charger etc with my XDA II. The accessories belonged to a IPAQ 5450 which was stolen and would be useful if compatible with XDA II. PSU appears to be, but less clear with other accessories. TIA David
The ipaq and the xda/xda2 are wired differently, however I have heard of a cable that will convert the lines and allow the use of certain ipaq accessories, alternatively you could do make one using the pin out info on this site. You can damage your xda if you plug an ipaq power lead into it.
Any update on this cable? Anyone know where I can get 1? I've heard it talked about a lot but I cant find 1 anywhere....
If any of your iPAQ accessories have the plug in dongle then just throw away the iPAQ dongle and replace it with an XDA II dongle (one came in your kit) as the voltage and current settings are the same only the connections in the actual USB dongle are different.
I'm using the AC charger and car charger from my iPAQ H550 (now sold) and they work fine. I also bought a couple of extra XDA II dongles so now I dont have to swap the one from my XDA II kit anymore.
I don't thing you can use the cradle or the sync charge USB unit as they will have fixed wiring and not sorth the effort of trying to modify.

ipaq dongle

first question : does any one know if i could use the the ipaq dongle with the xda2 for charging
second question : could i use the ipaq synchronizing cable to syn. the xda with pc
NO NO NO !
Do NOT use the iPaq dongle to charge the XDA2 - you WILL fry your device. The sync cable will not work either - the connector is the same, but the wiring is different.
You can use the transformer from most of the iPaqs with the XDA2, but you MUST use the power dongle that came with your XDA2.
thanks
you spared me a heart attack

The connector is a standard mini-usb port:
it has only four pins +V USB+ USB- GND.
It does not carry serial port signals.
Could you use wireless instead?
V
yup, you can sync via wireless or over bluetooth....
Bluetooth might be a problem if he's got no usb. But he might be able to get a usb pcmciacard or bluetooth or wireless card.
V
You could add USB ports to your laptop pretty cheaply.
eg http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3V5S is £14 and has firewire too. (by the looks of it, the description is somewhat lacking!)
