Dear all,
I am frustrated because I can't flash new ROM without having the following problems:
My Manila freezes
After locking the screen it starts to flash
I can't access any menus
This happens after hard reset of the new ROM I am testing (I tested several different ROMs and their latest versions: Dutty's HG, Laurentis, Miri just to mention a few.)
The only new Rom I don't have problems with is the official 1.66 stock ROM.
Before flashing I complete the MTTY process. Of course the phone is with HSPL.
I am from Bulgaria if that makes any difference..
I would appreciate every suggestion!
What ROM and Radio versions you are using?
Well currently I use the stock version of 1.66 with radio 2.06.51.07 flashed to Leo_Radio_2.07.50.27_2.
Hi all,
Same troubles for me with last roms.
Reboot without reasons, freeze on white screen without numbers in the left corner, impossible to access to the menus or in the best circumstance impossible to launch Sense!
Currently, I flashed with Duttys V1.5 and everything is allright but impossible to update with new rom!
Thanks for your advices

Radio_2.07.50.27_2 has been causing random issues all over. Many treads with people rom locked completely and so on. Did you flash the radio via SPL or HSPL?
Flashed via HSPL... The unfortunate thing is that the new cooked ROMs come packed with this radio. I tried to downgrade the radio but the problems persisted.
Thanks oalex
For my part I use 2.06.50.04
First...you change the splash screen(first screen) ?
Ok how to resolve:
1) Format your sdcard download a ship rom extract and
take any "RUU_signed.nbh" and copy it to SD card rename it to "leoimg.nbh".
2)Do the MTTY process and flash from sdcard
3)Install the hspl again and then flash rom you like.....
and hardreset.

Just to confirm I have the same issue using Radio "2.06.51.07". The only ROM I have been able to successfully flash is Laurentius26_LEOV4.0 WWE. Can others please test with this? This might lead to a clue on sorting this issue out?
Cheers

I haven't changed the Splash screen.. Will give this a try and will let you know. Thank you.
P.S. Question: is it obligatory to format the card? It works well with the official ROM. Just asking because I have 14 GB full on it and no spare one...

This is now sorted. All I did was flash hspl again and udes mtty to flash and the flash was successfully. Sense UI no longer crashing.
Just to add to this. This was not exactly fixed by MTTY. This actually is an SD Card issue. I replace my default sd card and I am back to square one. So I ran a test by connecting my hd2 to the pc and selecting option to mount as disk. Once the SD card was dis-mounted Sense came back online.
The next step was to copy the files created on the SD card I flashed with and replaced the same identical files on my default sd card. And whalla all is now good. I can flash as I wish. I don't think the issue is specific to HSPL, SSPL or MTTY. But to the files created when a ROM is flashed from SD.
You guys can test this and advise.
Cheers

If problem with crashed files on sdcard phone boot normally but can't start the sence...or lag, crases with sence...
You can try with other smaller sdcard for first step for see if the phone work fine with other sdcard or just remove for check ...
if still you have problems....you follow all steps i said to you.....and pls flash always from clean sdcard...
Problem solved!!
Problem is solved thanks to ganjbass and bpcue!! Respect!!

Which is the best way to flash the Leo now?
Some chefs recommend flashing back to an original rom then to a custom.
Now we have a working HSPL, until now Bepe's custom RUU was used for flashing just the OS part (and this util is still part of the Rom's on here). Do we now no longer use this and use UDK's customRUU instead?
It just seems that when I flash one custom rom over another and one over that one etc etc, I always end up with strange rom results :-/

I would of thought that problems with ROMS are due more to them all being new and the chefs trying to iron out the bugs....I ended up going through most of the roms available on the site until I found one that worked for me.
The only time I install an official rom is if I have problems booting and am not able to get activesync working otherwise I just go straight over the top of whatever rom is on my device and then hard reset before booting up for the first time.
Awesome! Good advice, thank you!
Ok, just to piggyback on this. As a first time flasher (without the HD2 as yet), have i got this correct:
a) Install HSPL so I can install 1.48 or 1.61 onto my 1.43 device without goldcard by placing the HTC Rom on a FAT16 microsd card as leoimg.nbh? Then should i want to do that again I will have to re-install hspl?
b) For cooked roms, install HSPL, then use SSPL to install cooked rom. Should it all go wrong I can then put back my stock 1.61 ROM onto a sd card and voila back to work without goldcard?

I believe that the micro sd card should be formated FAT32. Just remember that when you flash an offical ROM, it will also remove the HSPL so you will need to reinstall it.

I only use SSPL, but I've got a Goldcard in case of problems.....just follow the guides and without the goldcard, it's a good idea to make sure that HSPL is installed so you've got a way to revert back if you have any problems. Hope that explains it a bit better
Yep, that's precisely what I thought. thanks for confirming it.
I understand that some regulars are getting irritated by general newbie questions but sometimes it is good just to confirm and understanding of how it all works before hosing a device and then asking stupid qs on how to fix rather than posting how great a new ROM is
sadly I'm a bit too lazy to do the goldcard thing. But I might get one done for safety.

You do not need any sspl to install a cooked rom when you've hspl'ed your leo.
You can revert back to the original spl by using the sd card method with a stock rom.

too bad you got the wrong answer. there is no need for sspl or goldcard after you use HSPL. with that you can install official and custom roms. you don't have to install hspl again. just the once. UNLESS you install a official ROM with the SD card method. that will overwrite HSPL with the original (locked) SPL. you can flash a original ROM over usb. this will leave the hspl intact.

So are we supposed to use UDK's RUU utility to flash now?

So no cooked ROM will over-write HSPL?
ah, good. I just saw some ROm page (i think Xannytech) which said use only SSPL.
I dunno - it's all a bit technical for a first timer. perhaps i should stick to official updates and CABs for now.
Hopefully someone can put down some clear methods/ways for the new people, as there seems to be a lot of conflicting ideas (or maybe i'm imagining it).
I just tried flashing stock 1.61 to my 1.48 Leo, (after installing HSPL, which seemed to install fine).
I done a bad flash though (for whatever reason) as the phone just went in to perpetual rebooting after the update utility completed. Just managed to get it started by reflashing 1.48 back on to it.
Well here is the issue Hskalay:
You are meant to be able to uninstall HSPL...but some say that flashing a stock rom does not uninstall it.
Some say that cooked roms include SPL.nbh and that it will overwrite HSPL. In fact some rom cookers have said in their posts to only use SSPL and not sd flashing via leoimg.nbh and HSPL. However others say that cooked ROMS do not (and should not) overwrite the HSPL.
From what I have gathered without clear consensus is that as long as HSPL is on the device, ANY rom can be installed from the sd card - cooked or official. Without HSPL you NEEDED goldcard. With HSPL you can still use goldcard but it isnt essential, as long as HSPL works and boots.
From what I have read, it appears that HSPL is a bootloader like GRUB or windows boot loader or LILO. The difference from SSPL is that HSPL gets written to the boot sector, and SSPL is a temporary fix as if you installed GRUB/LILO to your linux system partition and had the stock bootloader in the boot sector point to it to boot.
Goldcard: you dont need a working bootloader (Bepe's HSPL or stock), you dont need a working ROM.
HSPL: you need a working bootloader (i.e HSPL of course), you dont need a working ROM.
SSPL: you need working rom, and working bootloader.
If you ever over-write your Bepe HSPL you will need to put it back on. hence it is not a once only deal. However, it appears as said that it is not over-written.
Thanks for your reply Chris.
With HSPL - Do the rom HAVE to be installed via the SD card? Or can they be launch and installed from the PC (via USB). ie install HSPL to the phone, and then running the standard update program for say, 1.48 to 1.61 (which needed goldcard previously if I am correct).
Right just tested everything out this morning. Installed HSPL.
Can run installs either using CustomRUU or SSPLRUU tools either leaving the phone in active sync or in the boot loader menu by holding down Vol Down key.
To install new Radio ROM just use CustomRUU as this won't wipe your device
and just install the radio. There is a tread with all the Radio only roms here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Also wiped HSPL by installing original O2 ROM and this did clear the HSPL. To install original ROM, just copy the nbh to the device, rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and then reboot into the Bootloader and it will then reinstall the rom. Just to let you know I got some wiered error when doing this and it restarted the update and then completed. Hope this helps
It's been said that at the moment you shouldn't install custom ROMs by copying the nbh files to your memory card.
Update:
To reinstall HSPL again after flashing original ROM, I had to remove my memory card or it would not work.
Hi,
I have a little issue: I HSPL my HD2 no problem with . It's just my phone have a hardware problem & I wanna go back to Original SPL 1.42000. I found the original rom made for my branded handy
extract and rename the .nbh
format sdcard in proper format.
neither in sync nor in bootloader mode. Invalid vendor ID. Rom Upgrade issue for me.
How can I uninstall the HSPL ?
PS/ I tried all words given by bepe and other's concerning issues. I didn't found it. I must sent back my phone soon for warrantly reason...
Did you try to install the ROM from HTC website or did you find an Orange specific ROM?
It is an orange specific rom. cause it is a branded handy.
I even try from HTC website one but no satisfaction. I think it is normal by this one ?
I have a non branded "german" device.
I decided to go back from the HSPL to the stock SPL.
I wanted to flash with the Turkey 1.61 rom to have after this procedure the newest radio 2.07 on it.
I have followed the steps from bepe
But my SD card has a "goldcard" file on it.
Go to the HSPL thread and see my post #383
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
I have noted down all outputs during flashing.
At least I would give it a try and use a "Goldcard" to get back your original rom.
Hope it helps & Good luck!

In addition to what the previous poster described:
One can definitely flash the original ROM using the SD card to uninstall HSPL.
Many people do it by accident...
That being said, one question: Are you sure you have the correct ROM file?
You know, the error you mention only arises if you have to answer "no" to that question.

SD card should be formated FAT32. The original one is FAT16
What does it exactly mean: "One can definitely flash the original ROM using the SD card to uninstall HSPL"
We can uninstall HSPL by loading the .nbh from the official ROM from htc website from fat32 formated sd card ?
If the answer is yes, I have done it many times but no satisfaction.
Yes I use the proper and official htc and/or orange .nbh.

If you do all steps in the correct way, flashing the original nbh with the SD card will definitely overwrite HSPL with stock SPL.
It has happened to quite a lot of people who were not aware of the fact that this happens when flashing a stock ROM with this method.
When you get a wrong carrier ID error message, you don´t have the right ROM, as the device will only allow to flash ROMs with the correct CID, be it HTC or operator stock ROMs.
Did you check the SPL version after the process with the SD card? If it says 1.42.0000, why don´t you try flashing with the original RUU?
yes confirm

I confirm: it happends to me: when I flashed the 1.61 HTC official rom from my SD, it replace the HSPL by the original SPL of HTC.
hi all, just want to share..
stock spl is 1.42 and after hspl 1.42hspl or 1.42.6666 if i'm not mistaken.
if to unsintall this hspl, i use flash using sd card method and it will re write radio and spl back to 1.42.
i also using turkey stock rom, but we cannot flash turkey stock rom using sd card method as it will rewrite spl and will give you error. wrong region. if this happen, in 3 colour mode, run you hspl. when it restart, make sure you push volume down button to get back in tricolour mode. if you not pushing vol down button, it will also boot in tricolour but hspl wont work, happen to me, spl back to 1.42.000. the flash using custom ruu.
just sharing with you guys.

It should be LEOIMG.nbh.
dont forget you might want to use MTTY to do task29 to format the device instead of CustomRUU.exe
tbh you can probably use the RUU from HTC if you have HSPL anyway.
p.s. yeah LEOIMG.nbh - LEOING.nbg made me smile - finger-twister
Okay I have tested restoring SPL1.42.0000 on a vendor-id'd phone.
Tried 2 ways of formatting the SD card:
a. formatting the sd card to FAT32 via Diskdrive mode connected to pc
b. Formatted in HD2 using onboard utility in HD2.
Tried 2 images but not the vendor-id image since I do not have that image.
a. Vendor ROM but in different language
b. Stock ROM HTC
Tried 2 ways of changing SPL back to 1.42.0000
a. Reset + vol down shows a 1 second message "Checking.", after that it immediately goes to the blue-green-red bootscreen showing bootloader 1.42.HSPL
b. From bootloader connect USB to pc and flash using stock RUU.
All combinations of above I can not restore SPL. Must be because HD2 requires correct ROM image + correct vendor-id.
Is there possibly a way to remove HSPL in some way without the original vendor image? Goldcard?
Check out my video on reverting back to stock spl
Its in my signature.
Not sure if its the same for locked devices though, just have a look

very good manual that is. In video manual is exactly the procedure I did. However the vendor-id'd HD2 won't get to the point where the image can be flashed. It gets to the point up to 1:37-1:38 in your video where the word "Checking..." blinks in an instant. After that it returns to bootloader screen.
So no luck yet

Oh sorry man
Goldcard also tried and no luck.
Every time I reboot to bootloader it gives the colored screen, proceeds to white screen with blue letters, in an instant shows: "Loading..." ..followed by: "Checking..." ..and then returns to colored bootloader main screen.
edit:
I keep thinking whether it is normal or not that the white screen doesn't show any kind of confirmation that it did actually find any nbh file whether it is valid or not. Maybe it just exits when the nbh is not valid, that may be the case.
However I have now ran the routine a whole lot of times and make zero progress.
Maybe better continue the search for the correct ROM to flash with.
just try one of the official roms posted in the official roms thread. don't try 1.61 - only 1.43/48
I have tried all official roms posted including 1.43 and 1.48 and up without success. The bootloader wouldn't go further after having checked the SD card contents. It did not work at all.
Finally now I bricked (I hope temporarily) my HD2 by trying to install the latest official 2.02 from the RUU.
Strange things have happened here.
I had earlier copied an 148 or so nbh to sd card. Bootloader would't work out as explained in posts above. So after all (with card with 148 nbh still inside) I figured it was time to check what ROM 2.02 would do, since I believe it would overwrite all SPL including HSPL since it is a v2 SPL. At least I hoped.
When I opened the RUU, it did reboot the phone as it is supposed to do with RUU.
Few things happened:
a. The phone booted in bootloader and showed me the white step screen which indicated there was a nbh about to be flashed. This was the nbh on the card!
b. The RUU errored with error 260 that the connection was lost. I have never lost a connection, must be because file on sd card took control.
c. Since connection was lost and the phone wanted a flash from the sd card I pressed vol up to continue update. it did start updating... but at about 9% I got a big triangle /exclamation mark, and HD2 stopped updating.
Reboot. Guess what??? SPL 1.42.0000 in bootloader now. From the nbh on the card.
But NO boot, NO radio .... After all I managed to destroy phone and HSPL.
Had to goldcard my way back in. However, problem solved!
Help!
First time attempt at using HPSL and may have bricked my HD2 :-(
I have a Voda supplied HD2 so can't install the stock ROMs directly...I thought I would be able to do so via HPSL, but it seems not. I was trying to install 1.66 (UK WWE) following the HPSL for dummies guide, and did the following:
- installed HPSL onto HD2, confirmed by going into bootloader
- put nbh file (extracted from stock .exe) onto SD card, named LEOIMG.nbh
- entered bootloader and chose flash option via power button
- flash started (minimal progress)
- within 2mins error showed
- now going into bootloader shows
00028002
Not allow
then..
SPL-1.42.0000 :-(
Upgrade ROM code error Please try again
If I start normally I get a warning triangle.
How can I get my HD2 back from the dead, ideally with 1.66 rather than the crummy Voda 1.43? (can anyone point me at a stock ROM for the voda 1.43, perhaps that would at least unbrick it?)
Help!!!!
*EDIT* Currently downloading the Voda 1.43 image, hoping I can at least get that back and running...if that works will still be keen to find out how to apply stock 1.66 via HPSL (bearing in mind that the CID lock(?) means I can't apply 1.66 on my voda device thru normal means)

The 3rd sticky down in the HD2 ROM Development thread is titled, "[REF]Leo Official ROMs" - Click that.
Then click, "Shared folder for shipped Leo ROMs".
The first "box" will have the title "Leo 1.43" under it. Click the hand carrying the folder icon.
You'll be greeted with 3 ROM's, select RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26. 50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe and download it.
Hope that helps.
Good luck with getting your phone back up and running.
Your device is not bricked. I think you have not installed HSPL properly.
Try installing HSPL again. As it seems your HSPL is not installed properly. Follow the following instructions very carefully :
Connect your phone to USB
I think when you boot in by default your device goes into bootloader if not press volume down + power butoon on the same time, your phone will enter tri color bootloader mode.
At the bottom of your screen it shoul show "USB"
Now download the HSPL.zip file(I have attached it here)
Now run HSPL.exe and follow the onscreen insteuctions.(Mostly you have nothing to do it will start installing automatically)
After a while on the screen of your phone a text will appear saying "We hacked it". If this text is displayed then everything went ok. Now confirm by clicking yes on the computer screen and it will finish the process.
All done.
Your phone will restart.
If you want to check that your fone has HSPL then press volume down+power key at the same time. The phone will enter into bootloader and should show "cotullaHSPL".
Now you can install any ROM and it will run properly.
Thanks - had just found that and started downloading as you posted this..fingers crossed! If this works will still be keen on ways to apply 1.66 (stock) to my voda CID locked device.

This is exactly what happened 1st time I installed HSPL...however trying it again did get the phone back and apparenty healthy again....thanks!
So - 2nd attempt to flash the 1.66 ROM, same as before. Confirmed HSPL installed via tri-colour bootloader screen, selected (via power button) option to flash from SD. Progress bar gets to (max) 10%, Warning triangle briefly shows then phone goes back to tricolour bootloader (but with std. SPL version) and nothing more happens.
Should I be waiting longer ? i.e. is the phone potentially still flashing when on the tricolour, std. SPL, screen ? Not flashed an HD2 before so not 100% sure I'm doing this right..will double check videos on this site, sure I'm just being stupid/impatient/not read enough....may try downloading the ROM again incase corrupted.
Anyway, HSPL installed for 3rd time and phone appears fine back running with 1.43.
People please read the HSPL thread properly, once you have installed the HSPL you CANNOT install from SD card you HAVE TO USE THE PC to install any rom images that are not original HTC.

Yeah, the 1.66 ROM you've downloaded may be corrupted. And next time, try installing the ROM with USB connection and the ROM's .exe file. You SPL is reverting back to stock, so it's possible that the culprit is flashing with SD.
OK, problem solved...
Rather than installing the stock ROM via HSPL bootloader I installed HSPL and then ran the RUU exe for the stock ROM. Phone now upgraded

I believe Dragon Soft was possibly referring to not using a stock ROM from SD? If I remember correctly flashing a Stock ROM from SD with HSPL on will remove HSPL.
So in other words, if you have HSPL and want to have a stock ROM, it is best install it from the PC when connected via ActiveSync as this won't affect the HSPL.
Custom ROM absolutely no probs with flashing from SD, the HSPL will stay intact, good work on the video ★

Ok. I think you were trying to install official ROM. When you install an official rom your bootloader will revert back to SPL...

I got my Leo two days ago, went home, put HSPL on it in the first place, wanted to upgrade the stock ROM, and ended up same as CraigBruce. Really frustrating, thought I'd bricked it. So I re-flashed HSPL and this time a custom ROM and it was back up again.
Now I know that I should have flashed the stock ROM via ActiveSync and not SD card which would have left the HSPL intact. I will definitely remember that for the future
just remember that some people WANT to remove HSPL when installing a stock ROM - e.g. when returning device.
tbh it should have worked with stock ROM and sdcard as leoimg.nbh - it is the way listed in HSPL thread to uninstall after all!!! we dont always want to use customRUU!!!
As from the noob flashing thread
NOTE: The only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from microSD card
* You can also use this method to flash back your Stock Rom and Stock SPL that you originally had on your phone*
VIDEO TUTORIAL: [★] has made a YouTube video to walk people through flashing a Stock SPL via activesync. Find it *HERE*
- Download a shipped Rom from *HERE*
- Rename the extension to .zip
- open it with winzip and extract the RUU_signed.nbh file to a folder
- Rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and copy it to the root of a microSD card thats been formatted to FAT32
- Insert your storage card into your phone
- Enter Bootloader and follow onscreen instructions to flash

With hspl installed you CAN flash CUSTOM roms using sd card, it is only flashing OFFICIAL roms through sd card that removes hspl.

Use the custom ruu to flash it. Do not put the nbh on the sd. I quote from the "[HSPL]How to flash everything" thread:
4) Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.

No Problem Flashhing to 1.66 on a Voda HD2 with HSPL
I have a voda HD2 and being a total Newbie to the HTC / WM .. I followed the Dummie guide.. (thanx to all, for that.. fantastic..) installed HSPL..and then installed the latest 1.66 from the HTC site using a boggus serial number.. As actual would not let me download it. No problemo..
Feeling a bit more adventureous.. any suggestions for the best 'cooked Rom' ??
From my understanding, you can flash away Stock ROMS using activesync. No need for HSPL.
Hi all,
I know how often these threads come up and I'm sorry to be posting one myself. I have used the search function to help me sort the problem out, but I just seem to be stuck.
Ok, so I had 1.48 official WWE ROM on my HD2 and thought of upgrading to a custom ROM unlocking the 576mb RAM.I used the following 'Lost in Asia Preloaded' ROM.
I did a HSPL before this and went on to install the ROM. The installation was unsuccessful and all I was getting was the white HTC screen from startup. Even after taking the battery out/red button reset, the problem was not fixed. I searched around a bit and did the following:
'you should get your stock rom, ONLY your stock rom, extract the file ruu_signed.nbh. copy that file to your sd card formatted to fat 32 rename the file to leoimg.nbh. phone off. hold volume down. tap power (keep volume held). phone should boot to three colors screen and start to flash.
this will ONLY work with original rom.'
This installation was unsuccessful as well and now the phone will not turn on and I'm getting an exclamation mark in a black screen.
Could anyone please help me out? Sorry for being a noob at this, I don't get the chance to keep myself updated about all the advancements in ROM development.
Thanks in advance for your help.
heh, seeing as you are quoting me I'll have a go at helping.
my first thought is that you didn't use the correct stock rom.
where is the phone from? did you buy it outright or on contract?
what country are you (was it bought) in?
Question 2 - can you get in to bootloader? (power off, making sure there is NOT a leoimg file on sd card, hold down volume, tap power, keeping down vol pressed till it starts to three coloured screen)
If you can get to that screen, look for the SPL bit, what does it say?
Hopefully something like 1.42.0000 or 1.42.HSPL?
Hey thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I did use your advice from a different thread.
Answer to the first question: I got this on contract from T Mobile UK in November.
Answer to the second question: I had a look again on the initial advice by you, saying that I should use the original ROM file. as stated before it was 1.48 and I was using 1.66 to fix the phone. Using the 1.48 image file has now brought the phone back to life and it now seems to be working fine. But I am stuck on 1.48.
About the SPL: Volume button held down and tapping the power button brings up a screen showing SPL-1.42.0000 XE
I wanted to upgrade to a more recent version of the ROM namely 1.66.707.1 with a more recent Radio version as well. Though flashing a recent custom ROM would be the answer. more ram would not hurt as well! Any help about how I might be able to go about this? a link to the right guide would be helpful as well.
Heh, glad its sorted. Heres a few pointers.
Your stock rom is the T Mo uk wwe 1.48 rom. Keep a copy of that handy just in case you ever break it again. That one will always (well, nearly always) take your phone back to stock if you do the sd card method with the leoimg file.
When you are flashing, you should idealy always use USB method, NOT sd card method - Reason? because flashing an official (eg 1.66) rom using sd card will not only overwrite your original rom, but also overwrite the phones SPL (including HSPL, thats how to uninstal HSPL for warranty purposes).
For flashing both official roms, or cooked roms, you should instal HSPL and then use USB method to flash the rom.(Same goes for flashing radios)
The only time you need to use sd card method is when you want to go back to factory default, and then you should only do so with that T Mo UK file.
If you flash a bad rom that wont boot, no problem, because HSPL will still be installed, because you used USB method, , , so just pick a different ROM and flash again from the pc, over USB, job done.
SD card flashing is risky unless you are absolutely sure what you are doing.
To move to 1.66 (or in fact any rom you like) do this
Instal HSPL
run the 1,66 installer from the PC (NOT SD CARD!)
wait for it to flash
Done.
Great thread guys!
Do we really install HSPL? because if the installed one is the official 1.48... the official 1.66 should be instalable by USB, right?. this is my case and I'm a little confused...
Qq
In my opinion it is best to install HSPL, and then instal the updated (or cooked) rom using USB, that way your SPL is protected by HSPL.
Put simply, you want to protect your SPL, and the best way to do that is to avoid flashing using sd card. With HSPL installed you CAN install any cooked rom, and you CAN install the official updates (1.66) with no effect to your SPL.
I should point out that if you do NOT have your original stock rom available you won't be able to uninstal HSPL in the event of needing to return the phone, but if you DO have it available, (or you dont mind the possible warranty void) then go for it.

If your phone lets you instal 1.66 via usb without HSPL then go right ahead, using USB will not affect your SPL. If you are provider locked, and there is no provider 1.66 available (example o2 uk havent released a 1.66) then you can instal HSPL and then use the HTC 1.66.
I hope someone here can help me to make my LEO work again.
Im having huge problems with my HD2 after flashing a ROM with Extendir. While setting up the device with Preset Installer my PDA went to deep sleep and failed installing all cabs.
After reboot it hung on the screen where Radio Version etc. is shown. That is why i made another Hard Reset. That let my phone boot again but after initial setup it hangs again at that place.
I tried another ROM and experienced the same problem. After that i went back to shiped with spl and radio. Not even that fixed the problem.
I tried MTTY with task 29 and reflash stock. It stays the same! After initial setup my phone sometimes hangs before or after boot animation. sometimes it boots till sense is started and hangs there.
Does anyone have a smart idea how i can make my leo run propper again?
Thanks for help.
edit: im not sure if its Extendir. It could be something else, too. I tried flashing via usb and storage card.

to assess that rom V.0.8 it has rom 2.0x base
radio 2,08 to enable 576 MB
the rom that it uses, it could not be compatible with the version radius
try to chnge a version radio or try to change version rom
if you use radio 2.08 from rom 2.07,try to flash rom cooked with 576 Mb enable
sorry for my poor english,i'm Italian
Sorry mate
the problem is other
I have since the rom of bob qualified V.08 is for 576 mb
You tried booting up with the SD card taken out of the device?
WB
You need to have a radio that supports the 576 mb. But I don't think this is your problem. It sound like to me your storage card is the problem. If you have another storage card format it to FAT 32 and try again. I bet your problem is solved. Also Don't use a 16gb card until you know for sure it is working. Even then there are problem with some people using them.
I dont have a Storage Card inserted now. Still the same problem
Btw. Using Laurentius V1.2 now. Same error here. i try to flash a lower Radio now.
As i said before i flashed stock 1.66 via storage card with radio and spl and still had the same Problem.

Everything flashes as usual. HSPL, Radio and ROMs. The software just isnt running stable after flash.
If it would be a Radio/SPL/ROM problem the stock rom should fix it.
Not wanting to be the one to say it but maybe your device is defective or damaged. Or maybe the problem was caused ny the failure going to sleep, but I don't think so. I have accidentally unplugged mine before during flash and still got it back. If you reflash the ROM it should work again. If you don't have any luck I would flash back to the Stock ROM and take it in for repair.
To bad noone can help. I will do some research and if i have no success i will send it back.
Some weeks of waiting

Yes there have been many. There have been some in my threads. There is also a thread posted here with lots of discussions and it was determined the the lock ups and freezes with Manila 19222911 was the 16gb cards. It seems there was only one ROM that did not have the problem and unfortunately this cook doesn't share with others.
im making improvements. after flashing stock i found out that i can change more and more settings and install programs without the need to hard reset. when i damage the filesystem with a program or setting i hardreset the device. after restart i can install that program without problems and can try another one.

I guess I don't understand. You have to have a working ROM to install a program? For a stock ROM you should not have to install anything. It either works or it doesn't.
