Access GPS with unsigned application - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi,
Initially set up the GPS to be accessed on port COM4. I installed the application GPS Test and found that it is working.
After developing a Java code to connect via serial port in GPS (COM4). I tested the code using the IBM J9. After starting the application (30 seconds) and this returns the following message: Access denied COM 4.
This may be because my application is unsigned?
Tanks for help,
Best regards.

My bluetooth port is show Port 14.Can I change it to Port 4?

Hi all,
First I use Bluetooth MSI (10 Meters) I already install Deriver and set up it, it generate COM port for bluetooth 13 ports (COM 3-13) and I use it with PPC XDA II. Now I want to change it to 100 Meters. I bought new bluetooth (Billiontion). Then I install driver on same computer and see bluetooth port because I want to setup for sync with my PPC. It show port number 14.
But my activeSync it can not setup for this port. How to delete Port 14 and setup it to Port 4, or how to uninstall old driver (MSI).
Thank you.

Do you have manual of this program.

is Destinator 3.075 on Jasjar possible?

Has anyone managed to install Destinator 3.075 on Jasjar
Yes, try searching and you'll find your answers!
1. Copy across the "DestinatorApps" directory to the PPC manually using active sync instead of using the installer
2. Copy the "DestDll.dll" into the windows directory of the PPC manually using active sync
Now you have destator installed (almost) the DestDll.dll also needs to be registered!
3. to register the dll I used "regsvr_arm.exe". just copy it onto the device, and run then select the "DestDll.dll" to register it.
4. Run Destinator and active it with you licence code as you would have previously
i had problems with connecting the com ports on destinator....so i just followed these steps:
First you've got to pair your GPS.
Then go to the "COM" tab in the bluetooth manager
Add a new outgoing port with the GPS as device (use a free com port usually try every single port until it accepts it)
And then do this:
5. Copy the "DestinatorApps/Destinator/Destinator.ini" to your desktop
6. Open this in a hex editor and change where it says C.O.M.6 to the com port of your gps. Mine was Com4 so I just changed
the 6 to a 4.
7. Copy the "Destinator.ini" file back onto the PPC
steps 5-7 i dont know if this is necessary coz after i did these steps, i closed the destinator program and then ran it and the "GPS was found automatically"....but when u go to the gps settings on the destinator program its on COM 1....and COM 4 was not on the list......but i didnt bother trying to set it up as per instructions coz its already working for me......just another note, if u turn off your gps receiver while the destinator program is running and then turn on the receiver again ur not going to be able to connect to a gps satellite etc......u have to actually close the destinator program and start it again and it will again automatically connect ur gps......its a bit complicated trying to follow the instructions......but if u follow it properly it will work.......well it worked on my jasjar as well as my XDA II with WM2003SE.....good luck
yes, thanks hadn't thought of that....
of coarse I have tried searching, I have spent 3 hours doing so ... I have found lots of references especially to a post by believer... haven't as yet found the post which gives the actual full answer ...
found one which gave the ini mod for getting around the os check
-------
if anyone else is looking for answers that part is:
modify the [Platforms] section of C:\DestinatorApps\Installer\Console\Default.ini
add the line
P2577V351=ARM
-------
what I haven't found is the issue of the dll being registered.
Now that you have wasted everybodies time and had me write all of this, are you likely to be helpful and provide a link, (as you seem to know where it is) or are you more a smartass without a clue than a geovass.
Thank you irv777 nice to see someone with intelligence
no probs

Destinator on JasJar and regsvr_arm.exe
Can anybody please point me in the right direction as to find regsvr_arm.exe. I have followed all the directions so far and when I try run destinator I get a Destinator object creation error. The only thing I havn't done is the register bit, please.
here you go
Destinator turns off after some minutes
First of all, thank you everybody who gave instructions for the installation, of the Destinator specially for irv777. I followed the irv777 instructions and I could install the Destinator and configure the GPS perfectly. But I could notice that after using some minutes the Destinator, the screen of my Pocket PC turned off and when I turned it on again (using the light button), the GPS communication was lost because the GPS COM Port was changed. Does anybody have the same problem? Does anyone have any idea of what is happening in my case? I could realize that when I open the registry on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Apps/DestinatorApps of my Pocket PC it is different from the registry of the Pocket PC of my friend who installed the Destinator using the custom metodology (he doesn't have WM5). Is it the cause of that problem? If it is the cause how can I fix it? I don't know how to edit registry.
I havn't found any problems with it on mine. a possible work around for you might be to change the power and light settings so they don't turn off when you are using destinator.....
;-)
good luck
obviously i am doing something wrong here....
copy the destinator apps were in the ppc? i dont have enough memory eventhough my exec is recently formated (ppc 32mb free/destinator apps 36mb).
anybody?
edit: please mates.... i am leaving for a road trip in ten days and i could realy use a gps

Is the procedure similar if you have an embedded GPS?
I have a Mio P350 & want to put Destinator 3 on it, do you install the console on the PC first, if so what files & from where do you install on the PDA, & what do you install on the SD card?
Appreciate any help I can get, as the MioMap v3.2 is driving me crazy!

Bluetooth GPS COM problem

Hi,
i have the following problem during the initialization of my bluetooth GPS device(HOLUX GPSlim236):
the bluetooth manager recognizes the device, but when i want to select a COM port as an incoming/outcoming port, i get the following error:
THE COM PORT COULD NOT BE CREATED.PLEASE CHECK YOUR SETTINGS AND TRY AGAIN
I want to use the GPS under Destinator PN and it allows only COM 1,2,3,6,7,9. But under bluetooth manager each of these ports results the same error(only COM port 8 and 0 is good).Maybe something uses those ports, but what could I do?
THX
you need to change the reg setting to the following
hkey_local_machine\controlpanel\gps setting
value name
group
value date
2
base
decimal
get a reg editor and do this then do a soft reset the under connections you will have a gps icon where you can set the software to a com port you like
that's not a solution. What you need to do is assign the outgoing COM port 0,4, or 8, and then change it manually in the Destinator INI file. There is an update available for Destinator that makes it WM5 compatible

pls help remote access error 734

i trying to use xda 2 as a modem for gprs on laptop.
i am using usbmodem dialer.exe and i had this error
remote access error 734
pls help thanks
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Are you on Windows XP?
make sure your modem driver installed correctly and the property of Dialer was right (user, etc)
Check your XP service.
Right click My Computer --> Manage.
Take a look 'service' under 'service and application'
Find 'Remote Access Auto Connection Manager' and 'Remote Access Connection Manager'. Start both of those service, change their property to Automatic if necessary so they'll loaded on windows start up.
Does it fix your problem?

AT+ Commands with Serial Port, Help Please!

Hello all,
I am trying to write and application that opens a connection to the serial port, GPRS modem, and sends AT commands and receives any response.
I have a few questions;
1- I can open connection to 2 ports, named COM1 (or COM2 depending on the device) and COM9 (or COM3 depending on device). How can I be sure the device I am connected to is the GPRS modem?
2- When I try to write data, I have 2 results - first, device freezes without any response, and second, I get an IOException error.
Can anyone help me please?
I am using C# and Visual Basic .NET
Thanks,
