So since I am new the the N1, does my pre-installed Facebook app get the update or do I need to install the store version for it to apply?

check in the downloads section of the market it should say "update available" if you don't have the latest version
I did that...I have version 1.1.3, but the market is version 1.2...yet it does not say update available, in fact Facebook does not show up in my Downloads section because it was installed on my phone when I got it a week ago.
It's there. It was just posted a bit ago.
Think you have to have installed it from the market before it'll inform you about an update.

Definitely.
Well it is not in my Downloads and I think I know the reason. I did not download the app. The app was pre-installed and not downloaded. So if I go into the market, into Downloads, there is no Facebook. I guess I have to install it from the market to get the update.
Makes me glad Google is taking apps out of the OS in the future.

Hmm... even though it came pre-installed, it still shows up in my Downloads. Applications like Google Voice and Google Maps, which were all pre-installed when I got my phone, all shows up in my Downloads. Weird.
that is weird. None of those are in my Downloads. I only have those apps I have installed. Maybe I am doing something wrong?
all we need now is for alerts to take us to the post instead of the web
Hi,
I've just installed the new Android Market.
I know that's not a big deal, but it's cool.
1 - Access via phone this link
2 - Install app
If anything goes wrong, access App Manager and uninstall updates.
Ps: Always good do a nand backup before.

Sorry my english.
Won't you get a notification for upgrading the Android Market once you access it? You still need to manually upgrade it? :|
As far as I know this update will be release only in a few weeks.
do I need to be rooted to install this apps?

if this is the same app that was on pocketnow and androidcentral, then no. its just a normal .apk that updates the market that is currently on the phone, much like it when when the update hits.
I am still unsure as to how the notification will be affected if this update has already been installed. hopefully it wont have to reinstall the same thing again or anything like that.
either way, i have it and it look "meh". better than the original, but still very green and complicated. I dont want to have to click a "more" tab just to read the description of an app.
**FLAME BAIT**
iPod app store is much easier to navigate and install apps with. this app store is much more flashy with its carousel of apps and whatnot, but i havent used that thing once.
I keep getting the notice I have updates, then when I go to the market, sure enough ,there are apps that say they can be updated, but you click on them, and no option to update. Just open or uninstall...
WTF?
Must be problems with the Market server.
I used to have a problem with Market whe I had my MT3G. Would tell me that I had an update, download it and then tell me installation failed. But the download was completed. So I had to go to the directory and look for the APK and install it from there.
The problem I'm having is that I get a notice that theres an update...but when I go to the market I have to go through all my apps to find the update

Yeah this has been happening to me since the new version.
If you give it an hour or so it will be able to update.
Not sure what's causing it.
Maybe the update is submitted and for whatever reason is shown before its ready to be downloaded?
I've found I have some issues if my LCD density is set differently than the default. Every few days I reset it to 240, reboot, and update everything, then change it back to 200.
I have been seeing the same thing. It keeps telling me that Titanium Backup has been updated. Annoying.
When i have a update from market it downloads but freezes at 100% downloaded. Then i have to reboot my evo to redownload and install flawlessly, and automatically

After disabling the built in Facebook application using the Application Manager, I noticed it somehow automatically updated itself and no longer appeared in the Disabled apps list. It's crazy enough I have deal with unwanted pre-loaded applications I won't use but having something on my device that's re-enabling a specific application I disabled and automatically updating it is unacceptable to me. I'd like for someone who also owns this device to try the same thing and letting me know your observation.
Yeah, it's re-enabled itself twice on me already. At this point, since I've not yet rooted my phone, I unfortunately am letting it remain installed & updating, even though I have no facebook account (anymore)
You have to disable the face book messenger too or it still has its hooks in your phone. I disabled it on day 1 and no problems at all for me

Get root access, first of all.
Get Root Explorer.
Navigate to root > system > app > find Facebook and delete it.

Ok so it happened to me when I connected to WiFi so I turned off the automatic updates in play store settings and it shouldn't happen again.

I also had that disabled within the Play Store but a new Software Update was just released that states it improves performance and has some bug fixes so I'll try disabling it again after applying this update.
Even if you disable an app, it will ask you to update it. If you update it, it will activate again. Make sure to disable auto-updating and when updating apps, just dont update that one.
Why is facebook even forcefully on our phone...not only do we have to deal with manufacturer bloat, carrier bloat, now facebook bloat?!?!?!

I wasn't going to root to test out how KNOX due to using my phone for work but FB pissed me off with always updating even though i disabled it and i finally said "F That" and rooted.
All preinstalled apps can do this.
It's because the play-store app has to be restarted once to get the application off from the updates list.
The pending update will raise the application even if it was disabled.
I had this happen with play magazines and movies. They kept coming back and there always was an update for them as i kept reverting them to
original state while disabling them.
So kill play store from the task manager after disabling an app. This has nothing to do with facebook.

Facebook auto,updates
This same thing happens to me. I have an AT&T version of Galaxy Note Edge. No root exists for this miserable $1,000 piece of crap phone.
My play settings are set to NOT auto update.
Facebook comes as a system app on this phone.
Can't root it, so can't get rid of it. Constantly auto updates, disabling the Facebook chat enabler, which doesn't require the separate messenger app. The chat enabler doesn't work with newer versions, so every day I have to go to the app manager and Uninstall updates to FB. Doesn't prompt for updates, just does it. Can't revert back to Kit-Kat on the phone because it bricks the phone.

lol never get an ATT device if you ever want root
I run Version 27 of the Facebook app. Since I got my Note 4 last week, Facebook has been updating daily and sometimes more often than once, OUTSIDE of the Play Store.
I have all auto-updates turned off, no unknown sources allowed. This seems to happen only on the pre-installed version. This never, ever happened on my S5.
Is anyone else with any carrier having this issue?

Sorry, I did a quick skim, didn't notice the "no questions here" someone can feel free to move this.
You can't uninstall it, they made it "bloatware". Clearing cache etc doesn't work. This happens daily.

No, Facebook and Instagram were pre-loaded like bloatware. Disable is all you can do. I use the app, just don't want anything above v27.

I think you are correct about those two files, because I saw those show up.
I had some crazy issues with my phone two days ago and Best Buy had to replace it. I came home, didn't log into my Google or Samsung account. While it was downloading Lollipop, my Facebook app updated. Again, outside of the Play Store and this phone had never been logged into the Play Store, I also had not logged into my Facebook app or sideload my Facebook apk.
I saw those two files listed as "downloaded" in the App Manager. I was able to uninstall updates and disable them. Then I did uninstalled updates on the Facebook app and sideload version 27. I saw those two files in downloaded apps before when I did a reset when my original phone when nuts.
Since I disabled those and they don't show up in the "turned off" apps or show up anywhere now, my Facebook hasn't updated again. I was looking today to see if I could find those two files and where I had them disabled. But, again, the only time I have seen them is when I haven't installed my app and the app has just updated by itself. I hope that has stopped it for me. I think if someone isn't rooted, the only way to deal with those two files is how I did the other night.
lol man thanks i know about them but i forgot to disable them

Yeah I could only disable with the first update. I don't even know if going and uninstalling updates to Facebook, will let you do this or if you can only catch them with the first update after a reset or out of the box. All that based on a non-rooted device.
Still no updates for me since I was able to do that the other night and it was updating several times a day. Every time I rolled it back, it would update again not much long after.
