Hi all,
I live in a country where GPRS is very expensive to live with, however I have a DSL connection at home, and I would like to have a program that enables my wizard to connect to the internet via my PC DSL connection, that is, the wizard connects through BT to my PC, and I will browse the internet (in my wizard) using the DSL connection on my PC.
this will allow me to be around the house while surfing the intenet via a DSL connection.
could you tell me please if there is a program to do so? does Wireless modem utility enable this? I strongly prefer freeware cause I dont have a credit card (I dont have money also!! )
Regards
It does it out of the box. Plug in your USB cable and it will start ActiveSync and your Wizard will share the PC's net connection. You can also do it via Wi-Fi. I have a wireless router at home, and I can sit in the living room and browse the net at broadband speeds on my phone - neat!

If you are connected PPC to PC you always have possibility to have internet connection on PPC by wired connection USB, by Bluetooth or WiFi( with some tricks or new AS 4.2)
Your PPC will show the connection to your PC's DSL connection in the network status window if you tap on the signal strength indicator.
My MDA II shows it like this for example:
Thank you all,
You are very neat and helpful guys

I don't think you can ActiveSync over wi-fi. You can browse the net via your wi-fi router though.

Hi,
There is a way to set internet sharing by JASJAM via WIFI connection ?
I mean if there is a way to connect from my laptop to my jasjam via wifi and get internet access via jasjam's cellular connection?
Bluetooth instead WiFi

Bad option, according to me. It's device battery overkill. Cheap bluetooth dongle is much better way of making wireless modem.
WM6 Internet Sharing. Use Bluetoooth setting, WIFI not available. Slows the connection speed. Via USB is best.
Hey there,
I am travelling around through my country and would like to use the internet with my netbook. I have an internet flatrate for my htc touch 3g. So what I would like to do is to plug my 3g to my netbook via bluetooh. on the netbook should run a software or something, so that i can use my 3 g as a modem and use the great abillity of umts.
is any1 out there who could help me?
thanks folks
chriz
WMWifiRouter
I don't know about using Bluetooth, but if you plug it in via USB and select data sharing on the 3G, it works seemlessly.
Active Sync
This is how i am doing it:
I installed Active Sync 4.5 on my Notebook.
Whenever i connect my Touch 3G, the device is asking me, what i would like to do.
Active Sync, Drive or Internet Sharing
Chose internet Sharing and your Notebook will recognize a LAN connection on your USB port, receiving a IP adress from the HTC and can use the Internet routed over your HTC, this is it !
Hope i could help.

Tried this once. Worked quite well. But after switching of the software again I could not use my WiFi anymore... Result: Hardreset and some hours of re-setup my phone.

Hi, Folks,
I was trying to connect a HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) to Internet over a bluetooth connection with a HTC Diamond, but no success...
First i tryed to connect using a DUN (Dial-up Network), but I don't know why, this dosn't work.
Second, i tryed to connect using the Internet Connection Share (ICS) on Diamond, but i don't found a way to join in a Bluetooh PAN with my Kaiser.
I've made a lot of searchs in this forum and the Google, but nothing that i found solves my problem.
In one of links/articles/wikis it tell me to use a Bluetooth Manager, but i don't have it.
Anyone has any idea to solve this problem?
Thx a lot! (and sorry about my english)
Try WmWifirouter. It essentially creates a P2P network over wifi. Was there a specific reason to use bluetooth?Im sure both devices have Wifi.

WMWiFiRouter does the job.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477821
or icscontrol and set the private interface to BTPAN on the serving ppc
Don't forget to setup the connection as ad-hoc.
You won't be able to share the net in managed mode.
It is possible to share internet over bluetooth.
See Below

@ alpha2k
nice link. do you know if you can connect a PDA/Mobile through your PC's Broadband Connection? See my mini diagram below?
Mobile --- (through bluetooth)---> PC --(through WIFI/Cat5e) ---> Router ----> INTERNET
Thanks

So you mean use your phone like a wifi dongle to connect the computer to the wifi enabled broadband. (right?)
Pretty sure it cant be done as it stands, but i believe (only from reading) that wmwifirouter can do it, though it isn't free.
Yes it's right, it's exactly like a dongle!
I have already tested the wifi router (from xda wifi sharing) and this is the same thing: the input connexion is only the 3G, no possibility to set wifi.

You can indeed do it like this with WMwifirouter. I've had it for a while on my X1 (getting an HD2 through the post this week!) and it has had rock solid connections through wifi, bluetooth and as a dongle.
Ok it works!
Now I have to pay for it.
lol.. that's about the price of a wifi usb dongle..!
