I actually disagree with the reviews.
I feel the N1 is far better in most categories, other than the Marketplace/App Store.
For Browsing, the Dolphin Browser auto-resizing makes it the easiest forum browsing device ever. I think people just give Apple credit for what the device "was" and not what it is now.
Just my $.02 though.
true but the review was based on just the stock phones not them with apps installed.
I particularly enjoyed the comments after the article...
Good find...but I think the N1 is even much better!

I agree with you but Nexus now has multitouch too.
So it wins on that count too. Its way much better phone than iphone,
its just iphone fanboys need time to come to terms with it.
That review does not even touch the main points of nexus like multitasking, they just ignore important things like that.
Apps: Nexus 2.5 iPhone 5
Media: Nexus 2, iPhone 5
Keyboard Nexus 3.5, iPhone 5
In other categories I think Nexus wins
true, they did talk about the multitouch on the n1 but they didnt bring out the real strong suites of it, like battery life and multitasking i think it should have won by alot more than a tenth of a point.

hmmm what about 1GHz processor.. plus we got cyanogen on our side, that makes the win
i went from the g1 to an iphone 3g which i used for several months. the iphone was a nice phone but eventually i got bored with it and sold it to help pay for a nexus one and honestly with a side by side comparison the nexus one takes the cake on almost everything.
iphone only has a better media player, and in many ways better apps (more out there, more highly developed)
other than that the nexus one is better in every way. after playing with it for 15 minutes my mother who is a iphone fangirl now wants to cancel her contract with at&t so she can switch to t-mobile and sell her 16gb iphone 3gs to pay for a nexus on.

They left out so many important things, it's insane. And the 4.0 for call quality when it DROPPED a call is absolutely ridiculous. So what the heck is a 1.0 or 2.0??
I'm glad the Nexus One won, finally. But man, damn Apple fanboys
I liked the comment
"how could CNET not mention the pathetic 512K of storage for apps, the american dictionary I've got on my iPhone is bigger than that!"
followed by:-
"it's 512MB, that's 1000 times bigger" - pwned
but the responder failed to mention we're getting an official update to store apps encrypted on SD card, so that's 16GB (or 32GB when those come out in the next few weeks.) of storage for apps if you so choose.
You will never win against fanboys and the iPhones has more of those. It can only be cured by owning a Nexus One. So most Apple fans will die from their illness.

Any idea when that update is coming, as my N1 only had 170mb to start with and is now down to 130 odd :-(

Yeah I like how pretty much the only "feature" they mentioned was the camera with flash.
What about all of the other hardware specs?
processor? Nexus 5 iPhone 0
Battery Life? Nexus 5 iPhone 3
Flash? Nexus 5 iPhone 0
RAM? Nexus 4 iPhone 3
Resolution? Nexus 4.7 iPhone 4
Screen Ratio? Nexus 4.7 iPhone 4.6
Screen Size? Nexus 4.6 iPhone 4
WVGA? Nexus 5 iPhone 0
And what was all that about the iPhone winning with video? I though the Nexus one had a better sensor?
They were comparing the wrong things most of the time too.
Edit: I love how in so many of the comments people mention about the Jailbroken iPhone... But that's the point, you have to HACK the phone just to compare it with the Nexus one.
I'm curious--what can a jailbroken iPhone do that a N1 out of the box can't? Because a rooted N1 will, I imagine, do way, way, way more than a jailbroken iPhone.

From what I understand, aside from the superior media player (which I think is bunk cuz I hate being tied to iTunes) it can shoot better video (not sure how with a 3mp camera) and you can copy/paste any text anywhere on the phone. Other than that, the N1 trumps the iPhone at everything.

Pre-like multitasking via multifl0w.
The ONLY thing I'm jealous of the Pre for.
Why can't Android get Cards, or someone make an app/hack for it?
That video was an egregious waste of my time. It's almost as if they took queues from Gizmodo on how to compare anything to an apple product.
Big thumbs down to CNet.

Well, I agree on the OS front android is still the better and iOS 4 is trying to do a catch up. But, I have to hand it to the iPhone 4 hardware , it does look amazing.
I like the 720p recording and retina display... But the OS still sucks. If only we could get developers to make GOOD apps, not some half-baked ones.
The hardware specs being released in the new iPhone is way way better than the n1. I'm actually jealous because of the front facing camera. And the new display resolution is unreal.

The only thing that may have the EVO 4g beat is the processor, but I'd bet my left arm that snapdragon + JIT > an A4
720p at 30 FPS, Retina display, Gyro motion, 7 hours talk time. 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video. 40 hours of music. 300 hours of standby, A4 processor, 32 GB internal storage, 9.3mm thick, etc, etc.
No one can dispute that the new iPhone is the best phone from a hardware standpoint. This phone is also going to take mobile gaming to a whole new level. I'd still much rather prefer Android OS, but as a fan of technology in general I have to say that Apple stepped their game up with this phone. Android app development will have to continue to grow at a rapid pace to keep up.
It is the highest res I've heard of for a phone. But it isn't that much more than the N1. Just the next step I guess. The N1 has about 250 or 260 DPI, right?

The resolution of the screen is something I am jeleous of, but the size is still smaller than the n1.
I'd like to see some benchmarks because we all know the 2.2 Nexus One was running laps around an iPad!
I'll admit there were some things that had me think "darn I wish my phone could do that" and then I remembered how awesome push to phone is.

Can't wait till someone make FroYo run on iPhone 4.
Steve says the screen of iphon4 is 4x bette than 3gs. uuhm did you ever compared 3gs screen with n1? the N1 is also 4x better than 3gs. so i'm not really jalous at that.
The OS doesn't ad somethin that i can say WOW! what comes to ios4 we have it on android. even they failed with connection on 4g everyone had to turn off wifi, the 3gs loaded fine :S whahahha
though the battery life looks great
the new (unreleased) iPhone does have a higher res screen, better video camera (could be just software/drivers) and the new gyroscope sensor. However iOS4 is still way behind Android
Our 6 month old Nexus has a bigger size screen
lol @ "retina display", apple sure is good at creating new buzz words which the flock absorbs and repeats. (baaaa)
I wish Sony had stepped up to Googles offer of collaborating on a phone.
Too bad there aren't any Android phones coming out with a res to match or exceed the iDont4 (960x640)
Yup the resolution on the screen looks sick, but it' just too smal. After having 2 phones with 3.7" displays I can't go down to 3.5". My next phone will probably have a 4" or bigger screen anways.
The hardware on the new iphone is very slick though.
yes the screen is better (higher res), and yes there is a front facing camera.
its been 5 month and our phone is just as competitive, hardware wise, as it was when it was released.
on the OS side, there is no comparison. apple was not ready for froyo. they have lots of catching up to do. i still think the iOS 4 (lol) is stuck in 2007.
not really that impressed.
The "iphone 4" does have by far the best video camera I have ever seen on a phone. I am actually very surprised by how good the still pictures of it look.
The overall question is though, did the iphone 4 with iOS 4 beat what google did weeks ago with the 2.2 Froyo Nexus 1? I don't think so, but even though that was shown off 3 weeks ago (seriously google WTF!?) I got a feeling you will be able to buy an iphone 4 before you can get the "official" Froyo OTA update.
OK.....I want the face to face calling...that's about it.
No one will use that crap face time because everyone is obsessed about battery time. Rofl.

video calling with iphones only? only on wifi?
video calling has existed in some places in europe since 2006, and there is a reason why its not widespread, people dont care about video calls.
One thing for sure...Apple is still good at creating 'Eye Candy'.

ATT network. LoL!
I am not doing a big comparison between Apple vs Android, not my point here. Just a simple observation today when at the Mall, looking at new phones. I think both Apple, and Google make great phones for their user base.
My history of smartphones; iPhone 1 and iPhone 3G, then moved onto to the Nexus-One, and then EVO 4G, which I just dropped in water, doing the dishes, lol... now planning to get the Nexus-S 4G.
With all the hype surrounding the new "white" iPhone 4, I was interested to check it out at the local Mall today, and be open minded to possibly go back to Apple. Uh no thanks now...Sure the new white i4 was cute and petite, but the screen size is just too small for my tastes, I think 4" is just perfect for a phone. And the iOS, was shockingly dated to use again again, after two years of Android. That big thumb button would drive me up the wall, I am so used to my back button, and menu button on my Androids, I could not stand going back to that one click button on the iPhone. Plus the iPhone 4 seemed so fragile, was afraid to even drop it in the store, looks like it would shatter or something. And the "retina" display, ok it was super crisp and high res, but Samsung's Super AMOLED, in my opinion is much nicer, sure the Samsung is not as sharp, but the awesome colors are amazing, and makes the iPhone almost look washed out a bit. And finally the form factor and phone in hand test, the Nexus-S feels perfect in the hand, nice weight, and fits in palm of hand just right, where the iPhone 4 was ok, but just a rectangular slab, nothing special.
Not to bash Apple, but I just don't understand the rabid fan base for this thing, sure it was nice, but Android has come along way in the past year, and the Nexus-S is every bit it's equal and then some. I think with the 3.1 "Ice Cream" release, Android will officially kick the iPhone to the curb as the best smart phone in town. But I am open minded to iOS5, if they add "widgets" and "notifications" plus put it on a 4" screen, that would make me think of possibly going back, but those three changes I doubt we will see in the iPhone5.
I don't get why there is hype on the white iPhone 4. It's the same thing featured in a different color.
iPhone 5 is rumored to come out later this year. And I don't see what you're trying to convey in this thread from the readers of your thread.
Previous posts about iPhone vs. Android (Nexus S in general) have been flame fests and this one will probably end in the same way.

I love my Nexus S but to be honest, it will be hard for me not to go back to iPhone if the next one is a dual core 3.7/4" screen. I even have a hard time not throwing my sim in the iPhone 4 I have to play some games and overhaul some battery life.
After trying out my Android for the first time, I guess it's hard to turn my back against it and go back to iOS which seems boring to me :/
I suggest you pick up the iphone 4, iOS is more effective as a "Phone" than the nexus. If you are really into customization/widgets, nexus s would be a better choice.
Different Strokes for Different Folks
I used to look at it as "This is better then that" etc.. But let's face it, the current crop of smartphones are each amazing devices in their own rights. Each devices has a set of pro's and con's and it's up to each person to decide what is best.
A person will get better objective results by making two threads, one here and one on the apple forums, saying "What are the advantages and dis-advantages of the phone"
This thread being phrased as it is, in the nexus forum, is just going to go down in flames as a previous member pointed out.

My personal observations:
Both have awesome screens and in a sense both have better screens than the other.
iPhone 4 uses better materials (glass and stainless steel)
Nexus S is more configurable, there are all kinds of utilities that tweak the system. Downside is the virus risk.
Both Nexus S and iPhone come with excellent first party apps
I like the home screen and app folder of Nexus S better
I found a nice live wallpaper and I now love this feature
Android market is not available in my country while App Store is
As a rule of thumb 3rd party android apps have lower quality (better still than symbian app store)
Nexus S is cheaper and comes with no strings attached
PS! It doesn't feel right to compare Android to iOS. Google stole the iPhone UI and improved on it, without iPhone there would be no Android (as we know it).
PPS! I own Nexus S and never owned an iPhone.

FYI & facts
before iOS there was WinOS, before WinOS there was PalmOS & SymbianOS
both PalmOS & Symbian are original of phone platform, and everything else that came after simply copied, and improved upon it.
if anyone should be suing anybody it'll be Palm + Symbian suing apple and microsoft
Symbian can be found on the oldest dumb phones you ever got your hands on, most noticeable on Nokia and Sony phones
PalmOS at that point in time was the only real smartphone, as it came from their PDA line.
Palm started as PDA and moved to smartphone
Symbian started as phone then moved to smartphone
The iPhone and Android were developed at the same time its really unlikely that Android intended to rip off a product they didn't know about ....since then they have borrowed from eachother alot

Agreed. Both OS's were unveiled in 2007, with a couple of months between them. They couldn't have rip off one another because they were in production the whole time before that. So don't start saying crap like Android is a copy of iOS when we all know this is bull****.

I recently sold my iphone 4 and switched to the Nexus S. I don't miss my iPhone one bit.
Apple do some things better, Google others. My iphone couldn't download podcasts and back up to Dropbox while I sleep, for example. But then my iphone wouldn't let me run large numbers of polling background apps and run down my battery in hours.
I prefer the iphone camera, and music experience. But then lately I've been all about Spotify so that becomes less important.
Final note: my Nexus has only ever dropped one call. My iphone 4, in identical areas, was pretty terrible at holding a call.
To each their own, but I'd say on balance Apple and Google are currently neck and neck. But I'll say again, I don't miss my iphone right now.

Just traded my iPhone 4 for an Nexus S with SLCD.
The Retina Display is really nice, but the SLCD is also very good, and for me its just the Size... iPhone Display is to small for me. And iOS is getting really boring... some Winterboard and Sbsettings Customization.. maybe a different Lockscreen and some poor "widgets"...
Both Phones are really good, its just a personal preference wich one to Choose
Thank you both for your answers. I'm still undecided whether to buy the SAMOLED or SLCD version. I don't own an iPhone but indeed the retina display is a quality screen, very convenient for reading (might be the resolution aswell). So I guess I'll go for the SLCD.
Don't seem to be able to make my mind up with this phone thing, I came from an Iphone 4 to the SGS2, then I swapped back to an Iphone 4, believing its the best thing to do, still love the Iphone 4, but the guy I swapped with would like to swap back again, and guess what I am extremely tempted.
I miss, Wordsmith, the camera, the weight of the SGS2, the fact its not an Apple device and this place.
But I love the Apps on Itunes, the DPI screen of the Iphone 4, the sound quality of the Iphone4 and the battery life.

By a cheap Battery for the SGS2 and TADA one Pro for the Iphone is gone ... an it gets even better ... buy a scound one
I was previously an iPhone 3GS user ( similar to iphone 4 in terms of sound quality).
Hardware wise, the iPhone has superior audio quality. However, with the right applications, the SGS2 can sound very decent as well (Poweramp + Equaliser).
As for battery life and screen DPI, the SGS2 is superior by far. Just get a good ROM and kernel.
If you miss the iTunes interface, use DoubleTwist. It is basically iTunes for Android. Kies isn't half bad either.
Get a Nokia 3310
Not sure about battery life, but no, DPI is obviously higher on iPhone, since that one's got a higher resolution display of smaller size.

I done the same funny enough but I'll be buying the iPhone 5 when its released. I just prefer iOS, dunno why that is. May have something to do with everyone out there supports it more than any other OS and its very simple and bug free from my experience. The apps blow Androids away, but I do love my S2 and will be keeping it.
I find the sound quality of the S2 to be on par or just slightly below that of the iPhone 4 when you use poweramp + equalizer (coming from an iPhone 4). Is there any proof that the sound quality on either phone is better?
I have just gone from a Samsung Nexus S which I loved to an Iphone 4 16GB which I hated and then did a straight swap for a brand new Galaxy S 2 and I love it! I would never regret getting rid of the Iphone. Just wished Android had the great Natwest Banking app
I have owned all the Nexus devies and used them as daily drivers.
I truly believed in the Nexus 6 hype. I still like the device very much, I think it's the best design on any smartphone and it's difficult to use any other phone after using Nexus 6.

Now hear me out. Nexus 5, what a truly amazing performer this thing is. It really flies out with any task you put on it. Hard to believe that it's snapdragon 800, use xperia z ultra and see how painful that thing is.
I think on 5.1.1, Nexus 5 is a clear winner in terms of speed except the camera where Nexus 6 is pretty quick.
Nexus 6 has improved on 5.1.1 but still it has a long way to go to catch up to the Nexus 5.
Gaming
Forget benchmarks. Gaming performance on Nexus 5 is way way better than Nexus 6. Partly because Nexus 6 lags during many games and partly because Nexus 5 still is one of the best gming performers.
Asphalt 8, nova 3 , Modern combat 5, dead trigger 1 and 2, riptide to 2 all run significantly better on Nexus 5, dead trigger 2 runs less smooth on low graphics settings on Nexus 6 and actually smoother with high graphics, strange.
Keyboard
It's a very very important aspect for me for enjoying my experience with any smartphone.
In terms of touch accuracy , screen responsiveness and keyboard fluidity, Nexus 5 wins just narrowly, not to say the Nexus 6's keyboard is jerky. It's great too.
Browser Performance
Again, Nexus 5 wins in terms of speed of opening the sites, atleast for me on the same network. Also in terms of smoothness when the page is loading, but once the page is completely loaded, Nexus 6 is smooth as butter when your scroll through the page.
Xda site runs better on my nexus 6 too.
Screen
Nexus 6, that sheer size with amoled is lovely to use. Nexus 5 has a great screen too, and it think it looks as sharp as a nexus 6 screen when I take pictures of both with macro focus, probably due to pentile arrangement on nexus 6. Still you won't be able to see it with a naked eye. I also love a curved bezels on my nexus 6 compared to the flat bezels on nexus 5.
Amoled on n6 isn't oversaturated too which is surpising, it's punchy but not oversaturated.
N5 has a somewhat undersaturated colors even for an IPS but still the screen is lovely because black levels are decent and white point is good (not as good as n4).
Sound
Not an expert on sound, don't listen to music but sterio speakers with that loudness surely tilts it in n6's favor.
Overall in terms of performance,Nexus 5 wins pretty easily for me.

Too bad my Nexus 5 was stolen a year ago, would love to see the comparison myself.

performance wise, my n6 bliws my n5 away, its not even close. and on gaming, my n6 never lags. same with browser performance, my n6 is faster. but i guess that would depend on the browser used. i use the aosp browser, not crappy chrome.

Are you using another rom and kernel? I'm using stock 5.1.1 on both devices and my n6 is encrypted by default.
Have you tried asphalt 8? I'm sure there's nothing wrong with my Nexus 6.
I use chrome browser on both the phones. I love how it integrates through all my devices.

yes, im using terminus on both nexus, excpt mon the n6 right now, and always a custom kernel, since i like setting my own cpu up like i want it. oh, asphalt 8, yes, its on both devices as well.
im sure there's nothing wrong with your n6 as well. what you can try is setting up your cpu differing ways. me, i like all 4 cores always on, with ondemand/deadline.
N6 beats the N5 hands down

Too funny. It's not even close, the N6 is much faster across the board versus the N5. I use both.

It's discussed in private military forums, but SealTeam6 did not kill Bin Laden. It was an iPhone with the Steve Jobs app that ninja'd the terror leader.
iPhone>N6:highfive:>N5>everything else.
For the price point and specs, the Nexus 5 was the best phone ever. The Nexus 6 was a huge failure, they're slashing prices everywhere now to dump them and the next iteration of the Nexus 5 2015 will be a smashing success. Google knows they messed up on the 6, no matter if people want to admit it or not.
Just for clarification. How did Google mess up on the n6. Price maybe but its a premium phone

They went against the ethos of what the Nexus is. Premium spec niche phone for half the price of the flagships. Sales have not been good, and many Nexus faithful would spend the 700 dollars on the 6. Lets just wait and see what direction they go with the 2015 version. If they go back to the Nexus 4/5 model of spec/pricing, I think we can all agree that Google will have admitted they messed up on the 6.
Yeah we'll see [emoji6]

Sorry if this thread has been made before but I have been a long time android user basically since the note 1 but when Apple released the iPhone 6 plus I switched to it and actually liked it a lot. I stuck with it, and got the iPhone 6s plus when that came out and have had that for a while. I like it but iOS does start to get boring after a while even with jailbreaking. I definitely miss the rooting and customization of Android and have never owned a Nexus device so stock Android has always intrigued me. One of the main reasons I got rid of the note was I was getting sick of touchwiz and I truthfully never really used the s pen anyway.
Well, I came across an opportunity to trade someone my iPhone 6s plus for a brand new Nexus 6p and I am wondering if I should dive back into the world of Android. I will say right away one thing about Apple is the apps are better and more refined, but in my experience at least with the note the touchscreen on the note was way better than on the iPhone. When Swyping on the iPhone the screen constantly loses contact with my finger and I have to delete the word and start all over again.
I am just wondering if anyone here that perhaps has had experience with both phones could give me an idea of what to expect. I would just go out and try the nexus at my local store but obviously they aren't sold in stores and the person I am buying it from has it brand new factory sealed so once I open it, I pretty much have to take the deal. One big question I have that I have seen a lot of mixed answers to in my research is, does the Nexus show Bluetooth device battery life in the status bar like the iPhone does?
I appreciate any and all input and I apologize again if this thread has been made a whole bunch of times.
I think it varies on a lot of factors. I do own both devices (and many MANY more) and while I prefer Android as my main mobile OS of choice, I like the synergy created between iPhone devices and Macbooks in their use of continuity. Yes, Pushbullet offers something similar on the Windows side, but I prefer the way Apple handles it.
That said, if you are not invested in the iOS ecosystem and don't have a computer running OSX, going back to Android is a good idea. The Nexus 6P is a device that feels better, looks better, and performs much better than iOS (even with jailbreaking). However, if you are invested in the Apple ecosystem, the decision gets murkier.
And yes, the Nexus 6P does take better photos and offers wider flexibility than the iPhone 6s Plus.
As far as the question if the Nexus 6P shows bt device battery life, it does not. It's really convenient to have that on the iPhone. It's hard to guess where your battery is for bt. Really, really hard. I'd ask for money on top for the trade for your iPhone 6s Plus.

Thank you, I really appreciate the input and I actually don't have any other Apple products but many people have told me they work really well with their computers with the continuity. How would you say the battery life of the Nexus compares to the iPhone? Also would you say the screen on the Nexus is better? I know being an amoled display it probably is but that's another thing I've heard mixed reviews on. Some people say it has a really cheap amoled display and the iPhones iPS is actually better.

The battery life on a jailbroken device and the Nexus 6P is about the same from my experiences. Not bad at all honestly. The screen is no contest, the Nexus 6P. I don't think it's cheap. There can be a yellow hue on the display (I've seen some saturation report issues) but it's not bad. It's pretty good. The IPS display is not all that though

If you could only have one of them, which one would you choose?
I would sell the 6s plus and buy a new 6p which just got a 50 dollar price cut

If I weren't so deeply entrenched in Apple's ecosystem, the Nexus without a single doubt in my mind. I prefer Android but the synergy with Apple devices is hard to beat. I think it is their handoff and continuity features that keeps me using Apple iOS devices. However, in terms of the experience, Android has the better experience. iOS has far better designed apps and then the handoff / continuity.
Assuming none of that factors into your decision, get a Nexus 6P

The ecosystem not really but the quality of apps does play a huge factor in my decision. Lots of the apps I use daily are far better on iOS. I also do like 3d touch a great deal.
For me, rooting and jailbreaking have become boring and moot.
IPhone pays attention detail esp with their hardware and gives off that more premium feel IMO. Nothing against the nexus 6p but the device doesn't stand par with the iphone. With the iphone, price is definitely a downside.
Screen is a toss up. It will depend on your preference in terms of IPS lcd vs amoled. Iphone does seem to sit closer to surface which comes as a positive to me but the 6p screen is no slouch either.
Your choice will boil down to which OS u like. For me, can't live without Android's data transfer. Can't stand iTunes.

Ya, see I can't stand iTunes either and love the way with Android you can download things to your phone. I have to say there are things I prefer on both ends but one thing I am wondering like another poster said though that if I was to do this trade I should ask for money on top of the Nexus. The nexus is a nice phone I know but doing a straight trade nexus 6p vs iPhone 6s plus now the nexus is 128 gig and the iPhone is 64 but how many here would say that I would be getting ripped of in this trade and how many think its a fair trade? Isn't the iPhone worth a lot more than the Nexus? I'm not talking about which one is better here, I am just talking about msrp and resale value.

When talking about the screen, what do you mean by iPhone's seems to sit more close to the surface? I do like Amoled displays, I hate the note 5 and absolutely loved that display but I have heard the Nexus's isn't quite as good as that one. When it comes to screens I am more of a fan of a natural look as opposed to colors being overly blown out which I know some Amoled'd can do. I know the iPhone has an extremely natural looking display.

Maybe I'm the only one, but holding a Nexus 6P next to an iPhone 6S Plus, the Nexus feels and looks to me to be the more premium device. This is especially true for the white iphone models (most of them). Android devices like the Droid Turbo 2 get slammed for having large bezels or a bunch of sensors at the top of the screen. The white iPhones are have large bezels too and all those sensors at the top of the phone next to hear earpiece are straight up ugly IMO. But nobody says this about the iPhone...
I think the N6P blows the iPhone away in terms of style and premium feel. Just don't try to bend your 6P in half
