3G doesn't connect after flash - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

So I just flashed on of Shadowlines ROMs onlto my HTC Pure, but the 3G doesn't connect. I can get o nthe internet via Opera, but other apps that require internet don't work, like the stocks app. the icon says its connected to H, when it should say 3G.
A second problem I have is that the wifi won't work at all. In the settings tab, the wifi under the connections tab is simply grayed out and there's no where else that i can access wifi settings

How can I get programs on my TyTn to go online via GPRS..

..when there is an active, but not internet enabled, Wifi connection present?
Is there a way to force internet connections via gprs, no matter what?
My TyTn still has a WindowsMobile 5 version, not modded in any way.

At home, GPRS vs. Wi-Fi

Everyone,
Apologies, and I know this is a stupid question, but when at home with my htc tound pro, with WiFi on, and connected, why do I need the phone on too for the WiFi to work,...?
Also, when both are on and working, which system is used, i.e., the SIM card connection or the WiFi connection,...?
WiFi I pay a flat monthly rate for unlimited data, with the SIM card I am on a fixed amount of data transfer per month,...
Thanks for listening,
ek
Well..
You may be using an application that is not Wifi aware. So, it demands a GPRS/EDGE/3G connection. So - in effect - it's not actually using the Wifi connection.
If you can use the application with Wifi on, and phone off - it's Wifi aware. (Meaning it can utilize Wifi).
If you can't use the application without the phone being on - it's not Wifi aware or has not been configured to use the Wifi.
What application are you having issues with?
thanks for getting back to me,... WM Professional 6.1 and the Internet Explorer program when going on to the web,... i'm just wondering which systems does the phone use when both are functioning,... am i using the gprs from my SIM card or am I using the wi-fi in my home,...? and why do i need the phone turned on to use the wi-fi in my home,...?
thanks again,...
ek
you can see if it's using gprs on the icon for signal str if it's showing animations
it's using gprs
otherwise it's using wifi
if you set
settings-connections-connection-advanced-select network to my homenetwork
it dont use gprs
did you set the gprs settings to your gsm provider?
i would prefer wifi over gprs/3g anyday unless if your home internet is extremely slow ( <300kbps). the battery life would be almost equal so why not a faster connection?

I'd like to understand how WM decides which network to use when it has a choice e.g. HSDPA and WiFi. I've looked at the settings mentioned above and I currently have Internet using Contract Internet (HSDPA) and Work using WiFi as the WiFi networks I connect to are firewalled and privately addressed.
What settings should I have to ensure that when I have the choice of WiFi and HSDPA (at home) I use WiFi, and when out and about I use HSDPA?
Everytime an application wants to connect to the net:
- If wifi is connected and GSM isn't, it uses Wifi
- If wifi isn't connected, it tries connecting to GSM and will use that.
- If both are connected - we don't really know what happens.
When you're at home, check that GSM is not connected (no little E, G, 3G or H on the signal bar icon, disconnect it if connected), turn on wifi, wait until the arrows have stopped moving on the Wifi icons, and now you can launch the program that wants to connect to the net, and it will use wifi.
If at this point you get a popup about the phone connecting to GSM data again, then there's a connectivity problem on your Wifi and the device can't reach the net through it.
You might want to install Modaco Nodata, it allows you do disable automatic connection to GSM so that you can be sure it doesn't connect when you don't want it to.
mine never use gprs when it have wifi
I have a Touch HD and I can make things work fine by manually turning off the data connection then turning on WiFi in the comm manager when I'm at home or vice versa when I'm out and about.
I would have thought win mobile 6.1 would have been a mature enough OS to allow this to be configured automatically. This and Opera are my only outstanding issues with the HD.
Strange. I can easily shut my phone off, enable wifi & browse fine.

WM6.1 Networking very confusing, can anyone demistify it?

Hi folks
Since day 1, I have always found the Networking (WiFi, 3G) system on WM61 very confusing.
If I go to connections, I have "My work network", Under there I have my Vodafone live profile. I have no idea why. Why cant I see WiFi settings here, and adapters etc
Under advanced, I can choose programs that auto connect to the net and auto connect to a private network. I have to set both of these to "My work network" otherwise my Vodafone Live 3G connection will not work. Surely connecting to a private network and connecting to the internet could be one and the same (in the case of using a router via a lan) ? Also this Network Management dialog does not seem to have anything to do with the Wi Fi network. I mean I cannot get at my WiFi adapters here etc.
The whole thing is a mess, If I want to see WiFi settings I have to use the WiFo icon in settings.
Can anyone make sense of this for me (and I'm sure many others). I'd love to see a definitive guide as to whats what, an explanation of each function/icon/tab/dialog
and finally a recommended setup for using WiFi, 3G etc
im kinda confused by WM6.1 network management too!
Currently i have my top setting set to 'Work Network' so that it accesses my wifi at home,
And the 'private network' is set to my 3G data provider, however it seems very clunky and if it was the other way around, i risk using my 3G data allowance even if Wifi was connected.
Im keen to also get some clarity here.

No 3g after Wmwifirouter install

After tweaking my new Touch Pro and not getting PDAnet to work, I got wmwifirouter to work great, but now I cannot get out on the 3G network. I have tried IE, Opera, updateing weather and nothing works.
I am using KK rom and had no 3G issues before trying pdanet and wmwifirouter. I dont have Phone as Modem selected either.
Any ideas?
i had the same issue.
sorta.
when i turned on the wifi router, it over-rode the connection settings turning off my data connection. it also confused my usb connection. so every time i connected my device to my pc, it saw it as a network adapter.
all i did was turn off the router completely and restart my data connection manually.
after that, it reset all connections itself.
works fine now.
you may also have to manually disconnect your internet sharing proggie (open the program, select disconnect), as it uses that.
now that i think of it, try that first.
no wifi
after installing wmwifirouter i cannot connect to other wifi signals. The router works great, but when I turn off, my phone does not connect o other wifi signals.
How can i fix this?

Mail doent connect through wifi - only with data!

Hi there kind people of XDA.
after installing a new rom I encouter a problem with setting up my gmail account. It seems as if the HTC mail client isn't willing to work with my wifi connection and only working with the data (which is disabled).
when I send/recieve, it tells me that it cannot connect and that I should press - settings. After going into settings I have 3 options for my work connection.
the first one is where I think the problem is:
*add a new modem connection.
after I chose that I've been asked to choose a modem and I dont have a wifi ot the broadcom lan card. only bluetooth, cellular line, cellular line (GPRS) and hayes compatible on COM1.
Any idea?
go to settings, connections, connections, advanced, select networks. Then change the first setting to 'work'. I have a dutch version, so the names might be slightly different.
thanks but I already tried it. The problem is that when setting up a new connection I cant use the broadcom as the connection modem!
Now I know my phone isnt using the same network as you. I have only one cellular account that I connect to. For this example I will call it "My Connection" I have that set in Network management to be the default connection for the internet.
Now when I go to my email connection settings I can choose that connection or a few others. If I choose "My Connection" then the email will only connect though cellular data. But if I choose "Internet" then it will connect through both.
So when I have wifi present I can connect with email, mms, surf with opera, and update weather all through wifi. When my wifi goes down or gets turned off everything reverts to cellular data.
ditto - on 1.48 i get 'Internet' as well as the T-mobile internet and T-mobile MMS settings. internet seems to latch onto anything that has a public ip - and starts with wifi.
I have found that one thing which stops email sync is not wifi/HSDPA data, but rather the exchange domain setting disappearing sporadically.
do u have bsb tweaks the same thing happend to me and in bsb i had wifi disable go in bsb and enable it.
please see if at
