Ok, so I like to write messages longer than 3 texts, so I have to use handcent. So I don't know whether it's an app problem or a phone problem.
Even when I try and send messages 1 text long they don't go through.
I can have full signal or at least 2/3 bars GPRS but they don't go through. Usually it happens on GPRS though.
Any ideas?
In fact, It's stopped sending them all together now ¬¬
And I have plenty of signal (2/3 bars GPRS [more than I usually have had when sending texts])
Edit: I keep receiving them, I just can't reply
things to try:
reboot, test
reinstall handcent, test
uninstall handcent and test with default app.
wipe phone (settings will be restored, and apps will be re-downloaded for you after you log in).
I've rebooted my phone before and the problem went away but now it's back. Thinking about it I probably just had 3g when it worked. It worked again when I briefly got 3G coverage and now i've sent all of my unsent messages it seems to be working again... for now.
The problem is I can't use the stock messaging app because of the annoying auto-mms conversion thing which hasn't been sorted so I had to use Handcent. I'd love to use the stock app and I actually prefer it apart from that one annoying issue.
This sounds a little like the problem with the HD2 on stock VF rom. Some say it helped to choose 2g only for sending messages (if that setting exists on the n1).
I dont have the N1 yet, so only guessing......
I've been having the same problem since the radio update, I'm seriously frustrated with this phone right now...
Haven't noticed this issue using the stock SMS app...
Easy fix, pick up the phone and talk if it's more than two sentences.
Not. A very helpful comment. Stfu.
I have same problem with even. One word texts. And since update. Reboot always fixes UT but annoying and shouldn't ever happen
Running full stock with update and using ChompSMS with no problems at all. I do seem to have the new 3g problem with the new radio ppl are having but turning on 2G only fixes the problem. Other wise no SMS problems at all here.

Hi there, due to the fact that the search option doesn't work with less then 4 characters, i can't search for "sms".
But here's my real problem:
I've flashed different roms into my mda vario, after unlocking it. First the Molski.biz rom, then the last original t-mobile rom, but it was toooo slow, i've imediatly deleted it, en flashed the mr clean rom.
But in all roms i have some delay in recieving sms-messages.
Half the time they appear directly after they were sent by my friends, but sometimes i get them after a few hours. for example: it was sent at 15:00, and i received it at 17:30.
And sometimes i don't get any sms-messages, and after an soft-reset, i get 10 at one time, all delayed.
does anyone know what to do about it? or what causes it?
Regards,
Twan
i sometimes get this too though not often its usually when my phone loses signal and when it comes back into signal it wont recevie txt messages until i soft reset or send another txt out then ill get like 4 all at once lol.
Wizard isnt the best phone for txtin i must say as i send a good 1,000 txts a month and so far its poor.
Sounds like a network issue to me...
The network isn't registering the phone or something similar. For SMS the towers "push" the messages to the phone. Queuing them when they don't detect the phone on the network. If the phone is on the network and not getting the messages until it is reset and forced to re-acquire its signal than it is a network problem.
I've seen this problem on a few networks regardless of phone make and model.
I would agree with the above, its a provider issue not a phone issue.
I have a debate with Orange about 10 years ago about not getting text messeges when I loose and then regain service. I was told that when a text is sent to a phone that is off or lost a signal the message is stored until a set time has passed and then delivery is retried, thus getting all the messages at once. The way 'around' this is the disconnect the phone from the network and re-connect. This forces a scan of the message queues and again you will get all messages in one go.
I would assume going in to Flight Mode and back will do the same thing as a soft boot, but I have not tested this.
Okay,
so i could suggest it's not quitte an rom- or wizzard-issue, but a network-issue.
I also think going to flightmode and back will solve the problem. So we will hear from you if that's a solution?
I'm busy reflashing a new rom into my wizzard.

I would hope that as you seeing the problem that you could test this. I get all my texts on time (luckely) so I can't help you I am afraid, I can just share my thoughts.
Let us know how you get on.

I've tried, but now there's nobody who has sent me an sms
ghehe, i'll wait....
but i do think it will work.
i'll keep you posted
This is happening to me all of a sudden and its not a network issue. I have 4 phones on my account and i texted between all of them and only my phone won't get the messages UNLESS I reboot my phone or use smartskey to close a window.
Here is the strange part, when a text message is sent to my phone, the screen turns on, but doesn't show the message pop.
Is smartskey blocking it?
Also, closing a window by clicking on the X also kicks the message to come through
Been having this problem since day one with Cyanogen.
Invariably the incoming picture mail ceases to function.
Ive gotten it to work when its acted up by resetting fixing permissions , unchecking then re checking "auto retrieve mms" , and selecting "TMOBILE" under provider listing to re register with network.
Since most of the time I have to ask people to pic mail me its extremely difficult to troubleshoot regularly.
"mms" is too short a term for seach it seems so apologize if this is an old issue.
1. Is there a specific fix to get MMS working as it should ?
2. Is there a way I can test if it works by emailing my phone ([email protected]) with a pic attached ? That never works.
3. If this is ROM specific ,are there any ROMS that dont have any sms/mms issues ?
G1
cyanogen 4.02
default messaging , handcent ,chomp have all given me the same problem...only using handcent currently.
Try sending yourself two mms messages
Tried 3 different.... only 1 came through. grrr
Noone has any ideas ?
Would upgrading my radio do any good ?
I noticed that both you guys are running old roms ...have you considered updating to 1.6 rom ,, I had issues sending mms with handcent when upgraded and I emailed them and they issued an update for 1.6 donut support. works great now

I will be trying this now that theres a one file Cyanogen. I was pessimistic about Hero roms because so many were limited or laggy.

For all I know there could be a wealth of info..but mms wont come up with anything in search.
Worst case scenario you can receive my MMS and Ill send out any you need.
for me if i am on wifi, i can never get mms sent or received. but onc ei turn off wifi and get on 3g it sends and receives fine. i missed a lot of mms because at home i always have my phone on wifi. i only know i miss them because right after an mms is sent, sometimes people sms me and say "did you get that?" and then i am aware they sent an mms.
Installed Cyn 4.1.999999999999999
STILL same issue. Ugh.
I have the same issue and I just switched to that ROM. My problem is real intermittent and in fact mine will somes times not receive regular texts, or the recipaent never gets them, or even sometimes someone will get multiple copies of my text messages all at once and I'll even get a few copies of received text messages on my phone. Just annoying.
Found this though, basically just sending a picture to your own phone.
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm23379.xml
I live in some crappy 3G coverage, so its always switching between that and edge. Something I've been meaning to try is to force the phone to only use 2G networks and see if that helps.

Yep, same problem. I'd say I'm 99% sure I even had this issue when I was using JF roms. I just came from Cyan 4.0.4 rom and a few of his previous roms before that.
I'm also half temped to unroot it and go back to a factory T-Mobile rom.

As am I.
Its annoying as hell to get "did you get my pic ?" or "what do you think" wondering wth theyre talking about.
Not sure if this will work for you but works for me. Only way I can receive mms from anyone is they have to type something in the subject and something in the message. If they do that I get it everytime. Might want to give it a try.

Will try..
TMo had me pull out battery then re try...it worked....till I got home.
Rep said it may be caused by a bad tower in my area pulling out battery connects me to another tower.
Sounded like BS but seeing that it worked when we tried but failed later on ..perhaps.
Id feel better if I knew this was a problem with or without Root. Im fighting my urge to just go back to stock...hate to lose apps2sd though.
Sometimes at random the phone will stop allowing texts to be sent, on various contacts.
I think this isn't a problem with the phone but the Android software, i have signal and its connected to 3G, sometimes HSPA. However will repeatedly not send a text.
If i just reboot the phone it'll work fine. However can get this problem later on again. Its as if the software cant handle sending a certain amount of texts per 10 minutes or something?
Anyone else had this problem.
Rooted & CM Beta5, however done it OTB.
I've never had a problem sending or receiving txt.
I'm on stock rom though
I'm on the stock rom aswell and i've been having that problem lately too, i was hoping i wasnt the only one.
Seems a problem http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f10/text-messages-not-sending-4534/
I'd like to second this. I was trying to send a bunch of messages the other night and had to keep rebooting my N1 to get them to start sending again. Then it would stop sending, and I'd reboot again... worrying. I was using Handcent though.
I use the standard SMS application.
Stock ROM. Only fix is a reboot for me.
Same with me. Happens every once in awhile. Reboot is the only thing that fixes the problem for me. It has not happened since I rooted my phone and flashed cyanogen's rom

1 time, i gaveup and couldnt be bothered to reboot the phone. Went to sleep, wokeup an tried in the morning an it worked fine.
Maybe a buffer issue or something like its full due to sending a high ammount of messages very quickly?
Happened to me twice on CM 5.0.2.

Ive had it over a dozen times, hence the thread
Ok,
So ive got the problem again! has occured at 2pm GMT. Have 4bars H signal.
Not going to reboot the phone just wait see how long it takes.
Surely more people are having this problem?
I'm using Enoms TheOfficial and I haven't ever had a problem. I text more than anybody I know too. [3k per month]
Maybe your local network or something. I'm in Dallas, Texas

It did it on STOCK Rom and Cyanogens Rom too. I send maybe the same ammount too!
Not the network as here in UK i am T-Mobile and other people on T-Mobile can text me when there stood 1ft away. My mates works and he has a Nexus on T-Mobile too.
We both own Sim-Free mobiles bought direct from Google and Delivered at the same time.
I say handcent is the problem
It's not handcent as it's happening with the stock messaging app also.
I also have the problem, usually around the same time, but i send anywhere from 7k to 10k a month... maybe tmobile is trying to limit my data?!?!

Mine still does it purhaps few times a week.
use a task killer (lately i have been favoring task panel), then restart your messaging app. you don't have to reboot.
I had an old sim card and had the same problem and got a replacement from tmobile and everything is fine now.
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
i am getting some lockups on my hd2.
i have had it for 4 days now and it seems to be getting progressively worse.
it seems to have something to do with texting.
when i text there is a long (20 seconds or more) pause before you can enter text.
sometimes after sending texts it wont go back to the home screen.. the phone then will lockup with only the start menu showing..
at this time nothing works.. i have to reset the phone via the HD2SoftReset button i installed from the HD2Tweak program.
any ideas on what is going on?
I had the same problem as you before. I fixed it by deleting my txt from time to time. So you don't store too many of them on your phone.
thats crazy, i never deleted the messages from my tmo 3g dash and it never crashed
hope they fix it soon with fw update

yea, it's weird. somehow it takes awhile for hd2 to load previous text messages.
its entirely the fault of the sense messaging app.
keep your messages to around 100 in and out and you will be fine,
or disable sense messaging and use standard 6.5 threaded and you can keep them.
not a great fix but still a fix
Ditto! I'm having the same issue - locking up and freezing... Augh!
I do not have any text messages on the phone and I get dropped data connections all day. If I power cycle it does come back. It also seems to have an issue with updating my "Current Location" on the home screen. All of the other locations weather update but the phone just can't seem to figure out where it is.
Any ideas on this one?
thanks
i was having those same data issues i just called t mo and they provisioned it properly. have you done that yet/
I'm hoping somebody has experienced this before and found a fix and can help me out...
All day I've been struggling to send SMS messages... I'm on 11.0.1.1, magisk rooted, with RICE installed. Everything was working great but today when i woke up, i was unable to send SMS messages...
I'm receiving them, but sometimes they are delayed and i get a few at a time with nothing coming in again for a short time after that, but i've made no changes to my phone in the last 2 days. I've rebooted a few times between then and now (twice yesterday, just because), so i cant really understand why i would just randomly be unable to send text messages or why they are received in bursts like this?
I've gone in and reset my "Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth" settings from within the reset options, and this appears to fix the issue, but only for a minute or so and suddenly they stop sending again... I thought maybe its the tower, so i used my daughters phone to text my wife and that worked perfectly fine. Immediately before and after, mine wouldnt send.
Any ideas, links, or guidance that might help me figure this out?
Since there's been some updates and no responses to my thread, i wanted to revisit this and see if i'm still the only one on earth with this issue.
The issue seemed to have completely gone away on its own, no idea why or how... But a couple weeks ago i decided to install the update to 11.0.2.2 on my IN11AA. Ever since, my phone will randomly stop receiving SMS messages completely. I can still send, just cant receive. The only way to fix this is to reboot.
Anyone else with this issue? Anyone find a reason for this? A fix perhaps?

Seeming this issue doesn't seem to be widespread, could be a carrier side issue?
It's a shame we don't have dual boot capabilities because you could have switched to stock and checked.
Also try a secondary SIM from maybe someone in your household and send using that SIM and see what happens.
I know there are delays after rebooting, I do a lot of magisk module work and every reboot try sending notifications using SMS or some other methods and I get around 3 mins no send or receive but not at the length you do.

I just had the issue again yesterday. Wife and I started texting eachother at about 8am, except, i didnt receive any of her messages until 5:30pm when she got home and told me she had been texting me. I rebooted 3 times, which once usually resolves the issue but not this time. I had to go into the settings and reset my WiFi/Mobile/Bluetooth settings, then it worked immediately.
Because of the solutions, i wouldnt think its a sim issue, but im going to test it anyway. I've factory reset a few times in the past and i still get the issue. I've had the issue while rooted and not rooted. Four of us have phones, 3 are Samsung and then there's mine, and mine's the only one with the issue.

What SMS app are you using? I wonder if you have enabled RCS messaging the new Google style messaging? Because maybe it uses WiFi to download some of the SMS, and if your carrier doesn't support it maybe you only receive it when you are on WiFi.
Try on WiFi then try just on mobile data and see if you notice.
I attached a photo check the top setting. Google might be persisting your setting (if you are using Google messages)
Also why don't you and your wife try a simnswap next time you happen and you are both at home, if your wife doesn't receive it then it's sim/network related.

I'm using Google Messages, and yes i do have RCS enabled. I dont believe thats the case though because the messages that are blocked are sometimes just an "ok" message. I'm almost always on WiFi though too.
The primary issue with sim swapping with my wife is that we would need to swap sims for up to 2 weeks since sometimes I have no issues for 2 weeks, then i get the issue once or twice a day for three days. The worst part (for me anyway) is that her screen is SHATTERED on her phone (she's using a Note10+) and its hard to see anything, so i've been trying to get her to get a new phone. I think we might be FINALLY upgrading her (after 5 months) to an S21 Ultra, so maybe we'll give that a shot there.
I'm actually wondering if it has something to do with messages for web. I've noticed that the issue only really happens after using that, but.. It doesnt always happen after using messages for web, so it might just be a coincidence.
I'm pretty sure its not Google Messages, or RCS, and fairly certain its not messages for web, because i used to use Signal only, and i still had the issue a few times.

When you say "ok" are you just sending short messages or the suggested replies by Google?
I had problems with auto reply in notifications for a while.
Tbh I just use telegram or signal becuase they don't require being connected to the device directly when using the web/desktop versions.
Yeah swapping for 2 weeks isn't great!
Interesting you had this issue with signal too, sounds like Google cloud messaging (needed for any app push notifications and messaging) is in a standby mode.
You got naptime or servicely installed? Shame no one else is seeing this issue might be easier to diagnose
