No, don't worry this is not another "I don't see the paid market applications" thread.
I am wondering, now that we have some really excellent and 100% usable builds, and furthermore, I am committed to the Android platform in general - I am looking to purchase some applications.
My question is - how are paid applications linked to you? Say I buy a weather widget, and I choose to switch to another build, or say another phone. How does google link me to that purchase? Will I be able to redownload for free just because I'm signed into my Google account?
Greatly appreciate any tips on how this works

they are linked in to the "cloud" just like anything else involved with your google account. it will install if you switch to another build(, unless,
say you buy a live wallpaper in an eclair build it wouldnt download in donut. it would download again when you use an eclair build again though.

I am suprised none of the devs have crapped their panties yet since it just got released a few mins ago.
This could be good...for the vogue...

Do want though. Do want.
Well I have it booted on vogue. Not much added just a new lock screen like you see in the sholes video some different icons, new square dialer buttons,
Like 1.6 there will probably be terrible app availability.
I wouldn't mind testing out a plane-jane 2.0 ROM if anyone is up for uploading it
I've learned to live without apps ever since the Market stopped working.

yeah because the SDK was just released today it will take a little while for developers to update their apps and create new ones. But the 2.0 market isn't even out yet either so there is NO app availability at this time lol. But once hte Droid is released I bet there will be a spike because so many more people will be using Android once it's on Verizon so more developers as well

I was talking to a guy in Europe with a G1, and he said he runs 1.6 and has loads of apps, ebuddy, opera and everything. Yet my 1.6 market in Canada doesn't have any apps.

It's an issue with our devices and other unlock phones from what I can tell. If i log in with a new "virgin" gmail account, then the donut market has tons of apps. if i setup with my standard gmail account that has been using 1.5 as well, i get almost no apps. the only work around is a new gmail account.

Am I being a numpty?
In the Twitter tab, I can't see a way of bringing up a list of who I'm following in Twitter.
Is it just me, or is it not actually there?
Ta.
Ha no I can't find that option either. So no, you're not alone
I just wanted to tweet @ somebody, and can't figure out how! Guess it's back to having a seperate app
Yeah same problem here. Although I'm a WM6.5 n00b so if you find a decent Twitter app that works well can you let me know what it is??
Cheers.

I was using Panoramic moTweets on my HD, and that was great. I tried a few others, and they're all pretty much the same, but I'd recommend that.
There's a free version with an add at the top of your tweets list, or a paid version that was only a few dollars.
http://www.panoramicsoft.com/mobileapps/motweets/moTweets.php
I think it's now available on marketplace as well, but I'd never recommend that piece of poo until you can install on your storage card as standard!
I'll give it a whirl, great stuff, thanks.
New Windows mobile Bing app is here!
No clear changlog is out yet.
"It's almost difficult to say how many Windows Phone owners prefer to use Microsoft's own Bing app as opposed to Google's. Luckily for those users who happily rely on using the Bing app, there is an update that brings the app to version 5.1.2010. It's unfortunate that Verizon Windows Phone owners can't get in on this update – that's because it only is available to Windows Phones on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. It's not to say that it's a bad thing for those Verizon owners because it looks to be only a maintenance update and doesn't really offer anything exciting..........."

Until the new BING is able to access my contacts, I will continue to use the September 2009 version I have.
I tried this new one and I don't like the way it locates movies [the old one let you search by theater or by movie] and I have to type/speak a friend's address in to get directions to them [the old one let you select from your contact list to set either origination or destination points].
These are 'deal breakers' for me. Until they are resolved I won't touch the new BING.
I'm just glad I saved that old .cab!

The only thing nice about the newer versions is Style/Look...
The old are still the best...
I didn't expect a change to Bing Mobile until WP7.
It seems to be more of a buf fix than anything grand.
Can somone please post a link to the best available BING cab for the Sprint TP2 ????
Thanks.
I was using the stock Sprint 6.5 ROM for the TP2 and preferred that version of BING to the new one.
I lost that version of BING when I installed MightyROM Rhodium.
Garbage. Why do they not put their bird's eye view back in? It's really the only thing going for Bing.
Not sure why you say to bad for Verizon but it's on my Verizon TouchPro 2 and working just fine. Downloaded straight from m.bing.com/download...

Is this the cab from the Sprint WM6.5 or is it an earlier one?
My Sprint WM6.5 Livesearch gives me a Bing version of 4.6.9179.1 (OEM). Is that this version?
I ask as I would like to have a backup of my Bing version [or newer] so I can continue to test Bing upgrades as they come out and then I can revert to one that allows access to contacts if the newest Bing doesn't.
My Bing cab is an older version. I would have to install it to verify which one, but it was from September 9 2009.
Thanks again.

New Version
There's another new version of Bing out which does a MUCH better job of navigation than the previous version. Might be worth checking out and comparing to the version prior to the UI change.

If you are rooted you can use an app called AdFree. It basically edits the hosts files do the ads are blocked.

Yes, the way to remove ads is to buy the apps. If you're so ungrateful to the developers who are releasing their apps for free, then you shouldn't download them.
This is the reason why the Android Market will never match the App Store. If no one can make money from their apps, no one will release apps.

Come on, those ads don't consume that much data...And considering all the apps that are free, if you like something, buy the donate version or at least click on some ads in the app...

Obviously you missed the point. If a user removes the ads from an ad-supported app, then the developer isn't making money.

There's plenty of websites where you can buy Android apps from. Thankfully, unlike iOS, you can install apps from any number of sources.
Have you noticed the new PC android market?

I'm not sure I see the point, if all it does is use a qr code to direct your phone to the market to install the sofware.
