hello this is my first post kinda tired of this phone already!
iv done 3 hard resets trying to get back my mms ability that came factory the day i got my phone. reasons for my resets were from crashes and or frozen during app installs and would reboot. ok now for my problem
after my last hard reset i installed the fallowing
spb full keyboard
spb home screen shell
spb weather
reg edit
some hacks
nosentmsg
i tried the weather hack but was unable to get it to work
and some others
now when i go to messaging i get the options of text messages, windows live, new email accout..
when i got the phone and after the first 2 hard resets the list went text messages, pic/video messages, windows live, new email account
any ways i can get it back without doing another hard reset??

Only recently got my T-Mobile branded Vario direct from them brand new and I've noticed that after I perform a soft reset all my messages, regardless of whether they have been read or not, get wiped.
I've checked Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, Outbox and Sent Items folders and they are all empty! I can absolutely assure you that I did not delete any of the messages myself.
Thinking that I might of had some conflict with another piece of sofware I had installed I decided to perform a hard reset and get everything set back to T-Mobile factory defaults. After all the Extended-Rom branding stuff got installed I decided to leave the phone exactly as it was, no tweaking of any settings, no installing any extra apps, no active-syncing, no nothing - a fresh factory reset!
Then, I sent another text message to the Vario. It arrived and after I read it and confirmed that it was indeed in the Text Message Inbox folder I quit out of the message app and perform a soft reset. Guess what happened after it restarted? Yep, the text message has miraculously disappeared
Anybody else seen this happen?
Anyone care to comment? Please reply even if your text msgs DON'T get wiped as I'd like to find out whether it's normal or not.
not got a T-mobile ROM, i'm using the O2 one (and now the updated version) and have never lost text messages from a soft reset (only a hard reset)
Sry i cant help further
just started happening to me and i been using the 2.17 rom.. i noticed this yesterday it deleted like 5 msgs but i got my other ones there so i was like WTFD?
I've just had this on a Universal (Orange M5000) with the latest Orange ROMs.
Prior to this, I suddenly had days and days of delivery notifications come flooding in, although this may have been an issue with either Orange or another network provider.
hi for me its not the txt messages but all new files that is created on the sd card gets deleted an all deleted files reappears after a soft reset
m really bugged
if ne 1 knows whats the problem pls help me
thanks
Loosing SMs messages.
If you have received a SMS message and soft reset before closing POutlook then I have found that you do loose the message.
By closing, I mean really closing it - not just pucsing the X button.
Likewise if you have deleted a message or moved it then the message(s) come back.
It seems to be that POutlook doesn't commit the changes to it's database until you close the app - or switch accounts.

That certainly seems to be the case with me, I was having trouble syncing with activesync, just dying each time I tried so in the end I hit the soft reset, I'm fairly certain that I still had outlook running at that point.
Actually, thinking about it, there were two batches of sms msgs, and I did end task on outlook after the first, so I can maybe understand that the second lot could be lost, but not the first?
Is there any way of validating the system databases?
The problem that I was having, disappearing SMS msgs, seems to have gone away and everything is still intact now even after multiple soft resets.
In case anyone else gets this strange behaviour, I can indeed confirm that POutlook.exe was indeed closed as I had also double checked the running programs list * to ensure no other processes were open that could conflict.
( * Start -> Settings -> System -> Memory ->Running Programs )
bbut also make sure tmail.exe is closed to.. get memmaid ull be suprised at all whats running.. the best thing to do is to use SmartSKey and make that close ur txt message app completelty!
poutlook.exe tmail.exe and sMSNserver.exe/pMSNserver.exe ...if these are open chances are ur sms/mms may be wiped after a soft-reset i make sure to sync my phone to pc and use jeyo outlook companion b4 a soft-reset
hi,
Have looked around, but couldn't find a thing...messaging isn't exactly an easy keyword
My problem: since a few days, when I get a new message, I can't open my messages anymore (I click it, it "tries" to open, and then nothing). I then have to reset...and for the next 4-5 new messages it works again. Pretty anoying...
Is this a Nike-problem? or something software-related?
Programs installed: SPB mobile shell 2.1, SPB weather, TodayAgenda.

Hard Reset, or first delete the messages folder on your storage card, may be corrupt.
Right,
Tytn on Orange (UK)
using Oranges latest rom release.
The issue is when i perform a Soft reset the device loses recent SMS messages.
sometimes its just the last recieved message, sometimes its all the messages recieved in the last hour or so.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Maybe you left "message" app. open when you reset the device? If you use some software to reset the phone, the software maybe automaticly close the opened applications before the reset for you. But the pin hole doesn't.So use some software instead of the pin hole,or close the opened app. before you reset the device.Just give the chance of saving data to the applications.
Yes, I remember this isssue a while and back and used to have exactly the same problem. I don't have it anymore since using the WM 6.1 ROM's with the threaded SMS or if I use the Palm threaded SMS app.
Thanks, I'll give those things a try, and i'll see if Orange have got round to releasing WM6 for the hermes, I'd quite like WM6, but also quite like the simplicity of orange's "it just works" releases.
Hello all,
Just bought my Leo and I must say im very impressed. Coming from a TP/Fuze I must say I like the speed and off course the BIG screen.
I just have one big problem…………… notifications.
I don’t get past notifications working on my Leo. For example; Today is Monday, I have a meeting on next friday of which I set a reminder for a week before. On Monday (eg today) I don’t see the reminder on my screen. The same with tasks.
I still see this notifications in outlook, no problems there. The reminders seem to disappear.
For me this is a big problem which I never had on my TP. I live by these reminders so for me they are very important. Also one thing I noticed is that the reminder icon in my pocket calendar doesn’t show up.(related ??)
The other symbols work just fine.
Offcourse I tried hard reset (three times), cleaning out duplicates, quadruple checked my settings etc.
Can any one tell me whats the problem and how to fix it ? If it involves disabling HTC notifications, this doesn’t work for me (tried the reg settings) but I would like them removed.
Id hope to hear from you !
FIX
Hello all,
After numerous hard resets, new official wwe roms, old official roms, rebuilded notification queues, new phone (went back to the store) 50 hours surfing the internet, trouble with my wife i think i got the solution. But first, i cant imagine im the only one, so for those who read this, a test if you wil.
Create an appointment using pocket outlook (not the htc calendar) with a reminder, than a task with a reminder. Let them both "remind" and soft reset using power off, power on (no soft reset program) et voila with me one of the reminders dissapears. Even withou syncing with outlook or exchange, just gone.
If u did try this, PLEASe let me know how this worked out with u because im going crazy !!
Well here is the solution (for me, and so far) After every step soft reset to be sure.
Install bsb tweaks, switch the windows notification switch
Disable the disgusting (and utterly annoying, for this was the key of my problem) HTC notification manager and enhancement as described in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631449
Soft reset, do the test and the reminders are stil there ! No for syncing with my outlook and exchange and hoping for the best.
Let me know if this works for u.
Tnx and good luck !
Hi all. Bad news for a first post. I've been reading and reading and researching to get a better understanding, as the most experience I've had with altering phone software is modding a Samsung Blackjack 2 for awhile.
I have the US AT&T HTC Tilt 2 (Rhodium). I will be as specific as possible - I cannot access the internet (no web access, no email access, etc.) I can send and receive sms messages and send and receive phone calls. The strange thing is I can send and receive mms messages (I thought they used 3G?)
Here's the specifics BEFORE I had the problem:
WinMo 6.5, latest framework, no mods of any sort. No problems of any kind.
AFTER:
I installed the HARDspl with the hopes of soon putting a ROM on my phone (I liked what you folks have to offer). I installed Opera Mobile 10, set it as my default, installed cleanRAM, ran it twice. I installed LockDevice. I installed mobilematt's Crystal Clock, and an HDWALL cab. I did the three background regedits to get the HDWALL to work properly by using the Mobile Registry Editor.
I properly soft reset and restarted along the way as prompted. I have no other extra programs that weren't mentioned.
The error message told me it couldn't connect, with the option of checking my settings or dismissing the error. It told me to reset my device specific to my manufacturer... etc.
---------------------
FUNNY ENOUGH, I just restarted the phone to try again... and it worked. The error is not there, and I can access the internet on IE and Opera 10, check my email, etc.
A FLUKE?
Did you just get the phone? When I got mine I had the same problem, I upgraded from a Tilt to a Tilt2 and I had to get a new sims card, my sister also had the same problem when she upgraded to the ATT Fuze from the Pantec matrix, everything worked but no 3g internet connection
