Hey guys
I Have rom 1.43 from UK, and I saw that a new upgrade is available to ROM 1.48, should I upgrade or is the 1.61 rom soon to be released.
Please advise as I have so many apps and its will take hours to get everything back, so it worth upgrading to 1.48????

I'm at the same point as you, just downloaded the new 1.48 ROM but don't know if I should wait.

Nobody knows...
Nobody knows when the 1.6x rom will be released. Nobody knows if you find it worth the effort... Nobody knows if you have any issues with the current rom and whether it will be fixed in the new version.
Sorry if this answer comes across a bit harsh, but how can other people decide for you if it's worth the upgrade. I don't believe there are any major changes between 1.43 and 1.48... No one knows yet what will be fixed in a 1.6x update, and when it will be officially released.
There is a turkish/WWE version floating around which appearantly has the camera fix included but I haven't noticed anything major in that one either.
Then again, using Sashimi and pimbackup flashing a new rom isn't that much work afterall (the only custom stuff I have to do is setup email acount and some shortcuts...)
So perhaps it's an idea to look into Sashimi which is a real timesaver when you flash roms often.
you should get spb backup, makes ROM upgrading so much easier, I upgraded from 1.43 to 1.48 in minutes and without having to reinstall anything

and then you **** up all the new rom with the old registrys and program files. nice one using a backup of old rom in a new.

Sashimi takes over the reinstalling part as well and didn't have very good experiences with SPB Backup in the past. Perhaps it's better now though

Not really, SPB Backup has a "new ROM" mode. I don't think it screwed anything in my upgrade.
Best thing to do is use windows myphone and then make sure your micro sd is out. Installing apps doesnt take that much time anyway (well it depends how many you have!) Always best to set it up again incase anything comes back across
I also have 1.43 but I am not upgrading so far, because everything works well for me. If there's need for an upgrade - do it. If not, don't In the new rom, there are no new features as far as I know.
I'm in the same boat but am waiting as the only real problem I have is the SMS lag (No i will not disable the sense UI as I like it!!), and not getting any voicemail notifications, and these are not directly addressed in the 1.48 update so i'll wait and hope....

People making all kind of magic "registry cleaners" also do think they are doing right, useful and harmless stuff.
Clean installation is the only way to have confidence that *everything* will work *as intended*.

it has a rom upgrade mode, works a treat every time
Personally I am not going to perform any ROM upgrades until SSPL is available.

Have you complain to HTC? I have email them already, I think we need more people bugging them
Are we all blind?? But 1.61 has been "released" That is one of the offical WWE roms coming from HTC.
Simple answer, If it isn't broken don't fix it
There aren't a lot of bug fixes in 1.48 or 1.61, some minor speed increases in the latter but I'd wait till 1.65 or whatever is due after 1.61. (1.61 doesn't include the SMS fix..the next patch will though)

quote from Update for HTC HD2 – SMS Function Update from the link above!
"Note: This update is only applicable to ROM version is equal to 1.49.XXX.X, or lower"
Since a few days my HD lost some data while its running. The Contacts, Apointments and some Apps are missing after a few hours.
If you do a softreset or only try to turn it on, it results in a hardreset.
Sometimes the phone is perfekt for a week, but now the time is getting shorter and shorter till the next hardreset.
I tried it with several ROMs and also different Radios, but always the same!
Thanks for your help!!
I had a similar problem and I would advice you to flash a Stock Rom back on your device, then reflash the Custom Rom of your choice.
Don't forget to hard reset twice after flashing a new rom.
Good luck !
Would try as suggested above to flash back to stock rom, then reflash custom rom again.
Let us know how you get on
Rick
Thanks for your advice!
I will try it this afternoon and will inform you afterwards!!
Marco
Now everything i set to the manufaktur defaults! (ROM, Radio, SPL)
If the problem is fixed, i will report it the nexts days!
Wish you a good night!

Another option is using Mtty tool to clear storage. Let us know how the proces goes...
I've had the same problem, but it seems ROM dependant. I just tried Laurentius26's final Blackstone ROM and it did this. Was using Dutty's Leo R2 and it was fine but his later ones were a headache.
Same problem with somes french roms, softreset is ok, but if i shutdown my phone an start it, i'll loose all my contacts and appointments.
The last 2 days my Touch HD works totally fine and its faster!
At the moment everything is the manufaktor default, but i think i'll use a cooked ROM after a few days relaxing with a perfekt working phone
thx for your advice
Marco
Now two weeks are over without any self-hardreset!!
Since a few days i'm using a cooked ROM again and its working!
The Problem is solved!
Thanks for your help!
Marco

Has this just started after flashing rom? If so, post your question in his rom thread as it could be rom related.
that's the problem...I flashed it too often so I can't remember....I was used to a slow rom when I had manila 2.5, but this is now manila 2.1...
I thought there is a fix or something like that to repair it

Speed should have been noticeably quicker using a manila 2.1 rom. Haven't heard of a fix for this, but would still advise to ask in rom thread. Others may be experiencing same issue or a fix may have been made already
I would like to have your opinion: which cooked ROM is the cleanest and lightest ROM without all those "slowing" HTC customizations?
Or if this is not possible, which ROM has the least f those HTC embedded apps?
My ideal ROM is that one which has succesfull get rid of Manila, HTC messaging and all the other staff, except one: Compass.
At the moment I am satisfied with Freyberry Barebone: but up to now I cannot get rid of HTC Contacts, (I cannot re-enable the default MS Outlook Contact)
Thanks and waiting
Saulo
I understand that some of HTC customizations cannot be removed, but I wish to find a ROM which has the least of them.
Thanks and waiting.
Saulo
You can make it easily if u want Microsoft Phone (WM) OS only for ur device. But ur device will become weird. High tech mobile hardware with errrr looking
I'm finally not alone in this quest !

Hi all,
I try to cook rhodium s2 sense rom to my Xperia X1.
I noticed most of newer sense rom dont use power_service.dll, nor in EXT and OEMDrivers.
Do we still need this service if we cook sense 2.5 with WM 6.5.X for our old device? Can we remove it safely?
Thanks in advanced.
Mod Edit: Solved
weird.. but try cause i guess power service for old base devices is needed... one cooking proces orr two...? always has experience from each time you cook failure rom or not
Thanks for quick reply
well, actually i've tried to cook without this service, and everything seems to be working fine, i just not sure with i've done was safely or not, so i asked here, lol.
