Installing windows mobile - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hello I searched and could not find if it is possible to install windows mobile on this phone? I know android is great but I like my WM apps so any help would be appreciated.

So you wana go from fast and stable, to slow and laggy? There are a ton and a half of apps on the market and elsewhere. Why switch? I have never been as happy with my phone as i have been with Android.

Well that was no help.

You don't need help if you want to install windows mobile on an android phone, you need punishment.
That's nonsense

I really do not believe you'll be able to do this. You would need a compatible ROM and I don't think anyone would cook one simply because there's no need for one.

Android has the best games
Google
When I first got my vogue I used google to search around and find programs and games. Search around on xda and maybe ppcgeeks using the search built into the sites. As for installing programs you can usually install .cab files from active sync or you can use active sync to copy over the cab file and install it manually. Eventually you'll most likely want to give android a try and possibly Windows Mobile 6.5. Read and research because there are a lot of forums and a lot of answers already out there.

He is referring to the Android OS for mobile phones.
android
android is google's operating system for smart phones. some very talented people here have ported it over to work with the htc touch (vogue).

rom recommendation?

hey guys, I'm new here and was browsing around and noticed a few options for custom roms. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for my needs. I currently enjoy the htc touch's os with the spb mobile shell minus the lagging. i have a feeling there is a custom rom out there that i will enjoy better. i am looking for much faster performance as first priority and cool gadgets as second. Any suggestions?

I think NFSFAN's roms are the best out there. He has a 6.1 and a 6.5. I don't know if it really speeds WinMo up (it's been a looong time since I ran my stock ROM to compare it to) but it's as fast as I need it to be.
Of course, I don't find myself using WinMo much at all anymore. As you may have noticed, there's a lot of threads here about running Android on the Vogue. You can run it without flashing your phone, and the only thing really missing at the moment is Bluetooth, but that's being worked on.

I agree, go with Android. None of the risk that comes with flashing, but all the fun of a new OS.
wow thanks guys! i like the sounds of not running the risk right now. im going to try it right now. i hope i get this right lol

The Hero builds are cool to use and show off. Although, the full builds tend to run pretty slow on the phone for everyday use. People do use the Lite Hero builds with lots of success.
You could also try mssmision's Rogers build which people have reported liking also.
I would personally recommend using the latest Ion build or one of the Hero themed Ion builds. They run perfectly fast as if it was meant for this phone and are more or less fully stable.

Or, Wingster helps streamline the proccess:
How to Flash: http://thewingster.com/howflashtp2rom.aspx
ROM's: http://thewingster.com/tp2gsmroms.aspx
check the sticky on Rhodium themes, applications and software. or just click on my sig where it says "skyler17" for some free apps also
If you're wanting to upgrade via an official ROM, T-Mobile hasn't provided a 6.5 ROM for the TP2 yet

Looks too sick. Any idea where i can get this from?
this forum is the best source for apps. Android doesn't have as many programs but it seems so since they're all gathered in one place.

There's thousands of more apps, outside of Wingster.
Check out sites like 1800ppcfreeware.com (I think thats the right address)

It's not a "Wingster ROM".....
Wingster only provides access to the ROM's, in an easy to use format. I haven't created any of those ROM's. Soo.....
About your question, you can install ANY app developed for Windows Mobile. Just because you have a custom ROM, doesn't mean a thing, since it's still Windows Mobile Operating System.
So, visit http://www.1800pocketpc.com/ and get yourself some free awesome apps!!!

Because your icon will appear as "H" now.
3G = H.
So whenever you see the "H" up there, that means you're on the fast 3G. It's all right, it's just a different icon You still get as fast, or possibly faster download speeds.

It will run on Android - I have it on my Blackstone. If you still want to have the Windows, then install one of the ROMs that run Android on scard:

Not for WM6.x. Don't think it will ever be - it is no longer a mainstream OS for phones.
