I`ve recently upgraded from a Sony Ericsson P910i to an O2 XDA Exec.
What I`m after is help with converting my DVD\Divx movies into something that can be played on the Exec.
I`ve spotted a few programs on www.handango.co.uk and www.expansys.com.
But am confussed...Which is best?
And what settings to use in terms of resolution, frame rate, etc.
Have a read of this link, you dont need to buy any software and the results are excellent

I would suggest MacTheRipper and ffmpegX, both of which are excellent.
Best Player
Many thanks.
I love the guide...Very easy to follow.
A couple of more questions...
Whats the best video player for the Exec?
If Windows Media Player is best then how can I get this to play Dixv\Xvid files?
I think this is the best one to date.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
its very good
So does this mean that you dudes don`t recommend getting the off-the-shelf one-click dvd convertors?
are you chaps finding that the video isnt completely smooth using tcpmp?
plug the JJ into the mains, you'll see an improvement in video playback over a certain resolution, smaller vids play fine anyway
BEST DVD - PPC Program
I bought Pocket DVD studio after trying it out - it was quite cheap., and in my opinion works great...
Thsi encodes them to WMV files (Windows Meida Version 9) - which media player can play. YES I KNOw - there are better players ot there...
http://www.pqdvd.com/watch_dvd_on_pocket_pc.html
I also bought DVD-to-PocketPC - THIS IS CRAP. It crops the videos to 4:3 aspect on some of the DVDs that I wanted to convert.
Their support was CRAP - yes they emailed me back and told me to read the help !!!!! - which is what I had done - and told them in the email that I had... a complete waste of money[/url]
Hi all
As above looking to play some divx files is there a player i can use?
Thanks
Robert
same here.. since TCPMP doesn't seem to work with this phone.. very dissapointing.
I was just about to jump in here and recommend TCPMP (worked great on my old pocket pc and my palm). oh well.
If you' re having display problems then this is a well known (and discussed) on this site.
Just search for TCPMP and Trinity.
TCPMP works great, just change the video driver to RAWFramebuffer.

Yeah but the interface is not drawn for VGA resolution, the whole menu looks pixelated and crap.
The best, I would beg to differ.
does it support divx?

HAHA, on my mogul, it was a really cool program, now that I'm getting the diamond, I guess it's not all that hot anymore
Think Core player is the one to have.
Its plays almost all popular files.... except rmvb.
Sorry wrong place, too much windows opened!
native VGA support would help me to buy this wonderful player immediately.
Felt Core Player much much better..

Kinoma Play supports MPEG-4 Video SP and AVC/H.264 codecs, 3GPP (same as MPEG-4), Flash Video (Sorenson Spark codec), QuickTime Movie (same as MPEG-4) and Windows Media 9 (WMV9 codec) video formats. For streaming, Kinoma Play supports HTTP, RTSP, and MMS streaming.
doesn't seem like it
Works only in full version!
OK and what about performance...it doesnt support QTV so Im interested about smoothness of playing standart unconverted *.avi videos...

Your right, I posted this thread before I had tried it on my Diamond, it looked awesome on my Hermes in its native resolution but on the Diamond, it looks pants. I'll wait for a true VGA version before I purchase this, the free one will do for now.
i downloaded the software by the link given in the first post, but when i start the player it wants to register. thought this was a free version ?!
Core Player vs. Kinoma Player
I do find that core player is an all in one package for almost all video formats. Though Kinoma is very good looking though not in VGA, core player is still the best so far.
Hope they could tweak it a bit further for it to utilize the built-in GFX accelerator ................... a wish that may not come true soooooon
Isn't this the old palm app, I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure my kids have this on their zodiack tapwaves (nice machine in it's day, great spec.) . Core player with diamond skin is unbeatable.
Streaming files present on PC
Hi all,
Can I with Kinoma listen to music and video present in my personnal computer?
I'am looking for this type of application (like Simplifymedia for Iphone)
Thanks
I have to say, though, I am really digging the built in Orb client on Kinoma.
"Can I with Kinoma listen to music and video present in my personnal computer?

Yes, it has a nice built-in Orb client.
More “finger-friendly” for phones with hi-resolution (VGA+) screens, including the HTC Touch Diamond
see, VGA resolution.
impossible to use Kinoma Freeplay
I downloaded the Kinoma Freeplay (do I need the full version : Kinoma play), I've installed it, and I lunch it, it ask for a product registration. I was thinking that the Freeplay version was free?
What I need to do?
Thanks

any help that can be provided would appreciated or some alternatives or a way to have android on my neon
Can't help you exactly on what you are looking for but maybe you should give a try to:
- Neon player (check H&D section). The player is really good, and very well optimized.
- S2P by A_C (also check H&D section). It's a spin-off of itouch player.
Take a look at this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523505
unfortenally it doesn't support wma
Anybody know a place to download a free player or fix to be able to watch XviD and DivX movies? Can't seem to find anything but CorePlayer, which costs money -.-

Can't even open the program?
EDIT: Got it to work party now (the interface looks like a bomb has been dropped!)... but think it will look nicer if I convert since it doesnt draw a super-clear image and has a little jacking :/
This one is working on my HD2
Just unzip in Storage Card/Program Files, make a shortcut to player.exe, place it in Windows/Start Menu/Programs and voile.

I have a question what is the best player GUI/Performance to watch movies on HD2 - Even if has to be bought for money. I prefer to get the best one rather than trying to get along with a freeware that sometimes doesn't work or have lousy interface.

Arguably the built-in PocketMediaPlayer is the best for the video formats it supports. For everything else, most people use CorePlayer.
Any cool player to play Xvid movies with subtitles?

cool and cool, its butt ugly but you have TCPMP wich supports either srt or sub files ... dont remember which one (maybe it was both?)
should be somewhere on the forum - you just need to find the right version
also, put the video mode to GDI
