WCDMA preferred/only since update (2/03) - Nexus One General

I installed the new update earlier today on my unrooted phone. I can't remember if I left it on 'WCDMA only' from the other day, or if the new update changed it to this. Can some one that has an unrooted phone with the new update check this for me? Just press *#*#4636#*#* --> phone information --> preferred network type (drop list). What was selected?

WCDMA preferred

I had it set to "GSM Only" before the update and that setting was persistent after the update, so I don't think the update changed the setting.

not getting 3g at all after rom update

as above it wont recieve 3g been into settings mobile networks on.
I'm having some issues as well. While I am getting a 3G connection, it often drops to EDGE suddenly. This even happens when I'm at home - and home being down town in a big city with constant 3G pre-update.
Asked HTC support. They told me to contact HTC support. True story.
Thinking I might install a custom rom and/or change radio. Any advice?

yes, if you have updated with the latest modaco, then probably your apn settings have been erased.
You'll have to input the apn manually to enable the 3g network

How should i do that?
Could you please advise me and give me the proper steps to take...
Thank you in advanced.
i had similar problems and nothing helped. so at the end i did the following:
- complete data wipe via fastboot menu
- update.zip with modaco 2.2
- rebbot system, checked if apn settings are correct and working (3G symbol in notification bar)
- update.zip with modaco 2.3 (NO wipe!!)
so now everything works as it should.

[Q] "Emergency calls only" after RUU downgrade, root, Cyanogen 6.1 install

Hello,
I've just rooted my Legend for the first time. To do this, I downgraded to 1.31 via RUU, then rooted using the Modaco guide.
After the RUU downgrade, I noticed that the phone said "Emergency Calls Only". Being a complete noob, I continued along with the rooting process figuring that the root flash and later mod flash might fix the problem.
After the root, I still had emergency service only. Being excited that the root worked, I went ahead and installer Rom Manager, rebooted into Clockworkmod Recovery and installed Cyanogen 6.1.
Still "emergency calls only".
I looked in Network Operators to see if my provider (Bell Canada) was visible. Sure enough, it was there. I tried to join the mobile network but the device just sits there spinning until it times out. I set the correct APN settings, but of course that didn't help - I basic GSM service doesn't work, let alone 3G.
I then found an app called Secret Settings, which gives access to a bunch of nifty hidden configuration options. I worked my way through each of the preferred network types. None of them worked.
I assume that this has something to do with the radio firmware flashed during the downgrade, although it looked like radio was also flashed during root.
So here I sit with a fancy WiFi-only device that used to be a phone. Can this be fixed? What are my options?
Please help a very technical but new-to-android-modding noob out. Thanks in advance!
Well, I seem to have fixed my own problem. Awesome!
Bell Canada HTC Legend users - if you've downgraded, rooted and are finding you have no service, or emergency only service...
Download "Secret Setting" from the market.
Tap Phone Information
Scroll down to "Set preferred network type"
Select "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)"
Exit to the home screen
In your phone's Settings menu, select Wireless and Networks
Select Mobile Networks -> Network Operators
Make sure you're connected to Bell
Reboot
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your Phone, it does the same thing as "Secret Settings" and doesn't require you to install anything.
It's been listed a number of times on the forums. You also don't need to reboot to change to GSM/CDMA auto PRL, although you probably want to select WCDMA only.

My 3G disappeared, running CM7-RC1

I've been running CM7 for a few days now, but today 3g just stopped connecting.
Wifi and everything else seems fine, as far as I can tell.
Anyone else have this? Any fix suggestions?
Menu > Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Uncheck and recheck Data Enabled. See if that works
If you are using Sprint (I assume no mod to the radio)
Try update PRL
you need to flash the stock rom first to flash RPL

I am using sprint. PRL is (should be) up to date, but I'll give it a try.
Nevermind. It came back!
Don't know how. I'm gonna blame sprint.

If you are talking about the Device Information *#*#4636#*#* Option that forces to use LTE only. Then you must be rooted first then download Advanced Signal Status on Playstore.
But if you are talking about the natural way. Just go to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, then set LTE/WCDMA/GSM

[Q] Problem with *#*#4636#*#* after upgrading to lollipop

Before upgrading to lollipop, I used to use *#*#4636#*#* code, for selecting GSM/WCDMA/LTE manually. I upgraded it to lollipop last night, but the code does not work now.
Does every body have any experience? Is there any replaced code or app?
I didn't have GSM/WCDMA/LTE in network mode on kitkat so i used an app called 4G LTE Switch which does what the *#*#4636#*#* code does.
But after the lollipop update I got GSM/WCDMA/LTE in mobile network menu so I don't need it anymore.
You should check to see if you now have the setting available,if not try that app or some other apps that do the same thing.

Yeap, I checked it; unfortunately the upgraded ROM does not have GSM/WCDMA/LTE to select. Thus i need to use *#*#4636#*#* again
