Hi,
It caught my eye that the new version of Maps is able to sync starred places with Google Bookmarks, yet the stock browser cannot do it and forces me to create all the bookmarks again after every wipe.
Do you guys know if there is a workaround to be able to sync these bookmarks?
Use Dolphin Browser and sync with your Google Bookmarks.

Either download Bookmark Backup & Restore from Market, or go into your settings and allow Google to backup all your settings. That includes bookmarks.
Well, those apps seem to just backup bookmarks on the phone. I would like to bookmark a page on the computer and access it on the phone, or vice versa.

Ah, I see.. well that functionality isn't available as yet, but you'll be happy to hear that Google is working on the ability to synch bookmarks between your Android phone and Chrome. It's just a matter of time.

IIRC, Eric Tseng or that Rubin guy mentioned this in an interview. Can't link you because I can't remember exactly who said it and on which site it appeared. But I definitely remember they're working on this. A Google search might yield results for you.

Not sure what you mean by broken. I have it loaded and can browse around without issue although it is clearly not designed for tablets. I have also not posted anything using the app but can verify that it does install and can browse without a problem.
Won't Sync
I cannot get Facebook to sync. Anyone else have this problem? Application seems to work otherwise.

What do you mean by sync? Like the phone, add it to Accounts and Sync in the tablet settings? It is not showing for me here as it does on my phone. I do not think that will work until we get a Honeycomb version.
EDIT: Actually it does show when trying to "add account" but does nothing.
I can't use the FB widget. It's FCs on me when I drag it over to a screen.
As for FB/Google integration... there appears to be a fight between Facebook and Google. I guess Google patched up some type of exploit that FB was using to merge/link contacts. It's fine for HTC, TouchWiz, MotoBlur... but not with a direct Google experience device.
Just search Google for more info on this. I read only a paragraph or so and got bored of the politics behind it.
If I remember correctly, facebook is now blocking google from exporting numbers/pictures status's.

It still works on my Samsung Captivate though.
Same as others.. Can load the app and use it however trying to add an account to sych friends, as I've done on my D1 Droid, it blinks then does nothing. After doing this I've found occasionally the actual app then crashes, even with reboot, and must be re-installed to get it back.
I'm sure a native Honeycomb version will arrive in due time.. For now I'm just using TweetDeck which works great for various accounts including: Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc.

I just moved from IE to Chrome just this past week. It imported my "favorites" from IE to 'bookmarks" in Chrome with no issues. BTW, I love this browser... I'm still learning the Chrome so I am not sure what to tell you to try. Maybe one of your links are corrupted? Try one first and see if you get the same results. Good luck.

Its not the same thing. Chrome bookmark sync syncs your bookmarks from chrome to your google account and them you can sync the browser on the tablet so you have the same bookmarks. In theory anyway, as I cant seem to get it to work
I didn't realize that desktop Chrome will sync with the tab's stock browser. I switched from Chrome to Opera on my desktop so I could have the sync with Opera Mobile. Opera syncs pretty well and updates fairly fast. I'm still learning to get comfortable with Opera but I think I like Chrome better. But I'm not going back to the stock browser - no way no how. Oh well.

Mine works without a problem.
It never froze for me.
One issue I have noted that may frustrate you enough not to bother with synch is the folders don't synch properly. I ended up with only the top level (root dir?) of bookmarks and none of the sub-folders came through.
I had at least 17 bazillion book marks sorted into 20 or 30 million folders so I am an extreme example. But man, that annoyed me enough lay waste to a small country.
Bookmark syncing working fine for me between the stock browser and Chrome.
For the people that have no issues with Chrome sync, can you comment on how many bookmarks you are dealing with?
I ask because there has been talk about a 100 bookmark per day limit on the Google forums.

I'm gonna have to look at those threads later. I have hundreds of bookmarks, so maybe that's it. Some synced last night, but I have a bunch of my folders with no bookmarks in them. Also, if I go to the accounts page on my transformer, the synch icon next to browser only spins a couple times, then freezes

Hi,
I'm not sure if this should go in this forum, or in my phone's forum. Wife has a Galaxy S3 and has a ton of bookmarks set up on it. I just got her a N7 for her birthday, and she'd like to find a way to get bookmarks from her phone, to the N7. I know that if her bookmarks were in Chrome, she'd be able to get them that way, but she just has the stock browser on her S3. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

make a backup of her bookmarks with that app, install the app on the nexus 7, copy the backup from the phone to the seven, then restore it with the app.
I am having trouble importing bookmarks from SGS3 to SGS4.
I've rooted and tried TiBu, but, the XML backup doesn't seem to point to the right place. The process takes a lot of time and says it's completed, but, doesn't work.
I tried another 3rd party app as well to no avail.
Any suggestions?
the bookmarks are ****ed in the S4. I've added quite a few and they won't show up no matter what. looks like they forgot about something.

I got mine by turning off google internet sync first from s3. Then then moved them from the google to samsung and synced them. Then i synced my tab that had the bookmarks in the google still back to google internet. It sounds complicated but it worked for me this was. Its so stupid that i cannot see google internet bookmarks in my stock browser.

I wonder if TiBu will address this. Considering their XML "Backup" isn't working
I have found Chrome to be excellent in this area...
Hi all,
I have a slight issue with the new google maps. Basically I have a gmail account which is linked to my domain (google apps). Now when I go into the "people" app, I can see my contacts have their address in their details. But when I open up the new google maps and search my contacts, it does not show my contacts address in the search bar.
Secondly (i think this is related to the same issue), if i try to use Google now "Navigate Home" command, it does not recognise my home address. It asked me to put in my home address and when I do that and click save I get an error that the address could not be saved.
Any idea what is going on with my phone? I have tried resetting the phone but it didnt help.
Thanks
2 things may be going on here. For it to work your contacts have to be associated with the same account as you're signed into maps with.
Second, I remember reading somewhere that it currently does not work with contacts associated with a business account.

Google rarely says "when" LOL. Here is where I spied that disclaimer...

While I don't have a business account, I have seen a number of complaints about this or that not working right with Google app accounts, and it seems that some of these have been going on for years... so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Sad times!
Thanks for the help though!
I can concur that if you have a google apps for business account it's not pulling in your contact details.
Why would they remove this???? it was working before the update.
I've been using Google Maps/Navigation to get to and from clients and now because I have a google apps for business account where all my contact details are saved.
Crazy!!

Growing pains. Google releases a lot that is unfinished. This is just another brick in the wall.
I don't think this was removed in the strictest sense of the word. I believe the old behavior looked in the local contacts data as i was previously syncing over iCloud, and it worked. After the update i had to change my syncing to Google Contacts online to get contacts from a maps based search.
Guessing this new behavior is more efficient as now both the places and contacts search are online.

Google maps seems to be working (i can look up my contacts addresses) in android 4.3 even though on the link you gave me it still says that google apps business accounts wont have this functionality. One thing which is annoying me now is that since I updated my phone to android 4.3, if i say "Navigate home" to google now, it doesnt work at all (before it used to ask me to tell where is home). it just shows me random results relating home (not mine) on google.
I remember reading that in another thread, or was that you?

I wasn't able to search for my contacts either. I had my web history turned off. When I turned web history on, they showed up on both the web based version of Google Maps, and the Android version of Google Maps. (I don't understand why this should be required.)
I have not tried this using a google apps account.
Hope that helps.
