Have you checked to make sure that Meteor is chosen as your preferred network. I do not have the HD2 with me now, but you can check through the phone settings to make sure.

I'm guessing you either bought the phone from Meteor or it is unlocked? it's not locked to a different Operator? (just a thought) Was Meteor in the list of Operators when you did the setup (Comms Manager and select Data Connection - correct countryand service provider should be shown). Also, under Phone / Options is your network type and Band Frequency set to auto?
Do Meteor have settings that could be sent to your device? I'm not an expert, just some points for consideration. Hope you get it sorted.
ok heres an update.
i meant to mention that the phone is simfree.
I have tested the phone with a vodafone sim and it works fine.
I have put back in my meteor sim and it sometimes it works but shows the roaming symbol.
Meteor in ireland use vodafone as a backup if they fall out of coverage
but i know there is meteor coverage here cos my n97 with cell info turned on tells you if you are with meteor or vodafone. So as far as i can make out it does not allow me to join the meteor network.
I rang meteor and they were useless and had not got a clue.
where do i go from here
in phone settings change automatic preffered network to manual and choose meteor it should solve your roaming problem
thanks for the replies .
i have discovered when i try to select meteor in phone settings it does not allow me join the network
upgraded to latest rom and all sorted

Hi everyone,
Is anyone having problems with the three (3G) sim in australia ?
I am currently unable to send sms and cant access the settings -> personal -> phone -> voice mail and sms settings. Is there a third party program that can fix this issue ? or some sort of a registry hack ?
Also everytime i soft-reset the xda sometimes it tends to be very long before a carrier can be detected (contracted with vodafone). Sometimes its only a matter of seconds but sometimes it can take up to 5 min without signal. Im guessing its jus a roaming issue, but has anyone come up with a way of solving this ?
Any help is appreciated ..
Cheers guys
Just interested, your ID says Optus, you say you have vodafone sim in your XDA II and your also are on a 3G network.
sorry ... maybe i should've been more clear ....
currently I have 2 numbers 1 optus and I got a new Three sim. I use the Three sim in my xda now but since the xda does not support 3G network, instead on being on the Three network, they will put me on the vodafone network as Three have a roaming contract with them. (so disregard the whole optus thing).
Three have their own 3G network in Australia but when out of coverage, they will use the more extensively covered vodafone (GSM) network.
I dont think roaming will cause problems with sms
but anyway ... thats my main problem atm. I can put up with the delayed carrier signal upon reset but the sms is a real pain.
does that make more sense ??
Hi, there I just received my XDA EXEC for UK, Im in USA.
I have Cingular Wireless(AT&T Wireless), and what I did was put the Sim card on the phone and the phone starts working, but I'm having 2 problems.
First my phone has the roaming signal all the time, I don't know if there is any way to modify that.
And the second and most important is that the phone has really low signal.
I want to know if someone can help me.
Thanks.
COPYTECHUSA.
Hard reset the phone and choose Copoorate mode (the code is 0506). This will stop the roaming issue. Other modes load O2 customisation.
I already has my phone in corporate mode and still the roaming signal.
Thanks.

If in roaming then it would suggest that the phone has been setup with UK O2 as the default network. Have a look at Settings/connections perhaps you can change the defualt network to Cingular or try installating the Cingular CAB file from: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=787912&highlight=cingular+cab
I have no idea what I'm saying here, but try to lock it onto GSM instead of WCDMA and it should be better.
I have two Dopod 810 running on Optus network. One running windows5, the other windows6 Dopod release. BOTH phones have the same problem of repeatedly disconnecting the phone call if the phone settings are
Network …… Auto
GSM/UMTS ..Auto
So to correct the problem Optus told me to change the the settings too
Network ……GSM
GSM/UMTS ..GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
This would stop the drop out, but I now don’t have 3g network, hence no MMS, video conferencing, web access is at dialup speed.
I had the Optus service department take both phones and they found they could not replicate the problems, installed the windows 6 pro upgrade on them and sent them back. Guess what, I still have the same connection problems. Put the phone settings back to the second settings above and have a phone back, but none of the 3g.
Any ideas why and what I can do? The only thing I can think of is to get Optus to replace the sim cards and see if that helps?
Ohh and this has been a problem since the phones were new.
I have the same problem too in indonesia Telkomsel network.
a incoming and outgoing call always drop or disconnected. and really difficult to setup a call. and very often my voice couldnt be heard.
anyone can help me?this is network failure or handset failure?
thx in advance
I am visiting India and put in a local SIM card to use with my HD. It cant get a signal at all. I did get the pop up asking to automatically install the new setting for the sim inserted but can't get a signal.
I did a soft reset as well, but no luck. Phone is unlocked so I can't figure out what the issue is. Same SIM card working fine on my 2g iphone.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Go to settings --> Select Phone --> Band --> Select auto for network type and gsm band --> soft reset and check settings again to make sure if it is saved to auto.
Let me know the results as i am going to delhi next month.

Pakistan
Thanks a lot for this. However, I am going to pakistan does anybody know which network is better for htc.
My Original HD2 got screwed just before Christmas (Faulty LCD and Digitiser).
As a replacement, I bought another one from ebay. Mint condition.
The phone works PERFECTLY in every way except one....
For some reason, my phone thinks its roaming CONSTANTLY, and if I turn off the 'data connection while roaming' then I cant connect to the internet.
This isnt actually a phone fault, but seems to be directly related to the SIM card.
Im living in Ireland and have a Meteor SIM which shows as roaming CONSTANTLY. Tried it with WM factory rom, energyrom, Android from SD card and Nand. All OSes show it as roaming even though Meteor is an IRISH company, and I bought the card in a local Carphone warehouse.
If I change the SIM to a vodafone (Ireland) one, or Tesco one, they show correctly as non-roaming.
Is there a possibility that the phone has some sort of ID which the Meteor Sim is reading but the others cant?
If not, Is there anything I can do to the SIM, or any phone settings that I am missing in order to get this issue resolved. Starting to annoy the HELL out of me.......
What network do Metior use? I had a similar problem with a 3 sim card. This kept coming up as roaming although I was only local. The 3 shop said that if you lose a 3G signal it will show as roaming and transfer you to a partner network ( 3 use orange) could it be similar with your sim?
May well be. The area I am in is low on 3g coverage from Meteor, and drops to Edge.
FINALLY got in touch with customer services at meteor and they hadnt a clue why I should show as roaming, but my bill shows NO roaming charges and infact the account wasnt even set up for roaming.....
