NASA Skywatch App

Hello
Does anyone know if a NASA Skywatch type application has been or could be made?
Im thinking of this incase anyone isnt firmiliar;
http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/SSapplications/Post/JavaSSOP/JavaSSOP.html
I guess the data is all there and the calculations arnt too difficult to figure out the next pass/sighting opportunities, so i assume it could be done.
The idea being that i dont have to get onto the web to find info out and can just load up the app. Always useful when out camping or something and miles from a computer!
Did you manage to find anything for this?
It's something I'd find handy. I'd considered making my own but i'd need a free data source of some sort.
I'd envisage it would:
Use GPS (or manual specification of location)
List passes from now for the next day or two
Allow you to set a calendar appt with reminder for the time of the pass
Display a "sky" circle with lines showing the pass... and so on.
I havnt heard anything im afraid. From what i understand, there is an awful lot of data involved with it which is updated very regularly.
The best bet i suspect would be an app that could interrogate the actual site and display a result, rather than being standalone. But i know nothing about making apps ( i suppose thats something to learn on my next day off though!). Il update this thread if i hear anything!
I wanted the same exact thing... but since nothing was out there... I just embeded a code on a blank webpage, and I use that. This, has a "Sunl map" as well as a "google earth" bg and -live- cloud cover.
www [dot] die [dot] net/earth
Doesnt show/list sat's or ISS... but its sorta cool.
Its online... But might make for fun code to work with, to build something else upon it?

Unlock Pattern – Beware

I don’t actually need help with this. Its just a cautionary tale about a bug in the unlock program.
So after reading threads over the years of people who managed to forget their device’s username or password and thinking to myself – how on earth can you be so stupid? Guess what I managed to do. Somehow I managed to set an unlock pattern that I had no idea what it was.
In theory this is fine, as if you enter the wrong pattern 5 times a button appears that allows you to unlock with your Google account. However please note that this DOES NOT WORK at all. I tried every conceivable way of entering my username and password (@googlemail.com @gmail.com username on its own) and nothing worked.
After searching I note that this is a problem with Andorid (it seems to have been noted on a lot of droid forums). I understand that Google are aware of the bug but haven’t yet fixed it.
In the end I managed to hit upon the code (pretty much by random).
Be careful!!
EDIT - Google bug report here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4784
More info here http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/17319-forgot-unlock-pattern.html
Maybe YOU had this problem, but I forgot the lock pattern I had set and it let me login just fine...took a couple of seconds.
Not sure what the use of capitals was for then…
Ok for clarification – yes *I* along with some others definately have this problem. Clearly it is a problem but I don’t know the pattern of people it affects and doesn’t (UK vs Non-UK? Googlemail.com vs Gmail.com?)
I raise it because it’d be prudent for people to check before they actually need to use it.

[Q] Anyone Else Experience This?

last night i was fiddling with my phone and it started to hang at the white evo screen. short story, my only fix was to wipe EVERYTHING. nandroids, titanium, miui backup, you name it.
anyway, i go to the online market to get all my applications again. i go to "My Library", but it wont show any apps past letter 'P'. every page past 'P' is blank. it even shows the dots at the bottom that indicate the page im on ISNT the final page. if i search the market for an app i know i had that is alphabetically past 'P', it shows that i had previously installed it.
any ideas? i found one other person on google with the same problem, said he emailed google, they said they'd check into it. that was dec 2010
EDIT: also, has anyone else seen the HILARIOUSLY outrageous comments on some of the apps? they tend to be on apps that are actually useless, but the dev is gettin TONS od d/l's and 5* ratings because of this. thought it was funny enough to share, sorta related since both have to do with market
83 views and no one else has this problem with the market? bump
Have you tried the new market?
Ya its awesome. But my question has to do with the website market.android.com
It wasn't specifically the letter "p" where it stopped, but I am not able to view all of my apps on the online market as well. I can keep clicking the 'next' arrow for the first ten pages or so, then after that each page is blank, even though it shows that there are at least six more pages.
I know it's too late now, but you might consider adding a dropbox account to your titanium backup in the future. Could save a few hours of frustration some day.

any fix for this? or any news at all?

Market apps don't show up

I have a rooted NST. Sometimes, when I search for an app that I know exists, it does not show up in the market. It also says the app is incompatible with my nook. I remember seeing a post somewhere here to a chrome addon that allows you to download the .apk directly from the market (piracy.. I know, but this is for a good cause) but I can't find it. Sorry if this does not make any sense, normally I am good at grammar, but.. yeah.
Thanks!
Why does everyone else get helped, and not me?
Sheesh, dude. Give us some time. 8 hours is NOT a long time when you're waiting on a world-wide community that works on a different clock than you do!
There are a couple of things (at least) that can cause an app not to show in market. To know exactly what's up, you'd have to tell us which apps.
The first thing to keep in mind is that the NST is running Android 2.1 'eclair'. A LOT of apps -- many of my favorites -- have been written for Android 2.2. 'froyo' or above. These probably will not work, no matter what you try.
Other apps care about the device type. Some are hardcoded to only work on specific devices. You can sometimes get these to work by spoofing your device to appear as another. Other times, you can download the .apk on another device, then transfer it to your NST. There's no guarantee these will work, however.
Depending on how you configured your device, you may simply have to clear market data and cache to restore full visibility (subject to the above constraints).
List a couple of specific apps and we might be able to give you a better answer.

I know the guy IRL, and apps I can get on my Nook don't show up in his market, whether it's the app or market.android.com. I have no idea what's going on.
Which is why all I need is the link to that chrome addon that allows you to download the .apk from the market.
List of apps:
Root uninstaller (the free one)
XDA Developers (both of them)
Don't be so lazy, did you ever heard about google?
It took me 8 sec to find it.

Sorry, I looked and could not find it.

Google Assistant

So I was wondering how many of you had gone through with implementing the buildprop change that enables Google AI. I decided to do it the other night and have been fiddling around with it since then. If you haven't done it, it basically turns Now-on-Tap into "Voice Search by default," but you can still do screen searches for things like USPS Tracking and Phone/Address Lookup. Voice searches are vastly improved; it will auto-start Navigation, fetch links as a list of cards (for example, miniaturized news feeds), open apps instantly (provided the phone isn't locked), and essentially just be all around snappier than Google Now/Now-on-Tap.
That said, it does bother me that the phone literally had to be rebranded as a Pixel to make this work. A) It's not the most stable change, and 2) that change is now reflected on any device/prompt that interacts with my phone. It managed to be picked up by adware on a sketchy site (don't ask what sketchy sites I go to), and my desktop also mislabels it on USB connection. Does anyone know if Motorola allows you to change the device name for USB connection? I know LG lets you.
But yeah, those are my thoughts on it. I might try it out for a week or two, and if I'm not exactly bowled over by it, I'll probably just go back to Now-on-Tap. But I wanted to hear your guys' thoughts.
I don't even use now-on-tap, and I've done the assistant bulildprop trick before, and it made little to no difference on how often I use both of them. I understand what you mean by having to rebrand it to a pixel though - Google shouldn't make this Pixel exclusive
