HD2 specs removed from HTC US Web site - HD2 General

This page http://www.htc.com/us/products#/?view=0-21&sort=0 had link to HD2 US version specs, now it is gone.
(I guess now that European version was found to "supposedly" have 576MB ROM, they need to update the specs for the US version to 1GB ROM /2GB RAM so it can run WinMo 7 even better )

lol wll you may actually be on to something. If T-Mobile USA is playing more for a better HD2 that the cat is out of the bag, they know they are paying more for nothing since its being shown the device already has the RAM, maybe even the ROM who knows.

More memory in the US HD2 - Answer from HTC!!!

I posted the message to them, and this was their reply:
"Dear Mr. Koop, Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center.
Your questions and suggestions are important to us and we do all that we can to provide you with an excellent service.
You recently wrote us about an issue with your HTC HD2.
The US HD2 devices that have more memory are T-mobile branded devices.
T-mobile has chosen to upgrade the devices with more memory.
This is not an option HTC is providing. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards, Ginette P HTC"
I wonder how easy/hard it would be to do the same to ours???
Old news. but thanks for sharing.
This isn't true and they know.
As you see, the extra RAM can be unlocked on the European HTC HD2.

Well, there are two kinds of memory, yes? Read Only Memory, and Random-access Memory. The T-Mobile Hd2 Internal Memory: ROM 1GB; RAM 576MB.
So, technically I do not think you can accuse HTC of being not factual in their reply. As far as I am aware, the search for 1GB of ROM on the European and Asian HD2 has not been successful.
I have seen nothing that has proven to me that the HTC branded HD2s have 1GB ROM.

*confuzed*... So, the European HD2 DOES have 576MB RAM, rite? Is there an easy way (as in, not flashing a new ROM... Quite happy with my T-Mobile ROM...) to enable this?
It's nice that you guys are so envious of us in the US, who have yet to even get the HD2..

You have to flash a different radio. Searching XDA-Developers will give you plenty of answers.

Do a search on some of the threads concerning reactions to the T-Mobile HD2 specs. The posts can be quite amusing and infuriating to read. Some of us who state that you got what you paid for have been unpopular on some of these threads.

You have to flash both a ROM AND a radio that supports this. It will not work with any official ROM that's been released so far.

I'm hoping for these posts to entertain me until I finally have the US HD2 in my hands.. with MORE RAM/ROM or RAMAROM or ROMARAM.
Then by the end of the year, there'll be posts about the US not getting the HD3 while everybody gets it..
SIM Looked as well?

changing rom is totally un connected to the sim being network locked, so as you found out changing rom does not unlock the phone.

Unless you are intent on running many memory heavy apps at the same time, the extra RAM is pretty much unnecessary.
I run lots of programs- many of them quite heavy on RAM, but usually close one before opening another, and I've never run below 100MB free RAM, even with iGO8 running minimised.
Now, the ROM is a different matter- but little chance we will see any more without serious pruning to the ROM itself.
So if you're happy with the ROM you are on, stick with it!

i went over to the t mobile store this morning to play with the hd2 they have in display and the system memory on the device its alottttt 684.44 mb how can that be, i only have 227 mb , is it because of the rom i have? if so its there a rom that can give me that amount of system memoy??????

you don't have a t mobile us phone. you have one with 512 rom, of which around 250 meg gets taken up with windows mobile etcetera.
the one you looked sat in the shop has 1024 meg rom, with 300 meg used for win mobile.

lol, thats up to you.
Just one thing, if you do get a tmo us, it has different 3g bands to the euro one.
The european one will do 3g on at&t but not T Mo US network.
One thing to note
Some ROMS that will actually run properly (and fairly well at first) on a T-Mobile US HD2, will actually incorrectly report the size of the ROM available. For instance, Smaberg's Touch X-Treme runs on the T-Mobile US HD2, but only reports just over 200 MB of ROM/Storage memory.
Just as an FYI. Some ROMS built for European HD2s will only show what they expect to find on an European HD2, even if they do install. I have to say, I love having all that storage capacity.

the point here is that tmouk is a different model than the tmous. the radio, rom sizes and base drivers will be the 1.x series and not the 2.x series the tmous device needs.

Some people dont take the time to read some stuff. A little research goes a long way. Not only is it different but the sizes differ some.. Why would you risk it?!

Because most people don't read. They don't actually know that they are risking it (even though most tutorials in both HD2 sections state in bold red letters to make sure that the device type is the correct one.

Sometimes people need to be told because they are unable to learn the basics before "trying stuff" from an "Developers" website.
I know they should be doing the research but it only takes a line of text to clear it up. I know it's can be quite daunting when you first hit the site and trying to find out exactly the answer to your question takes time.

Finaly Windows Phone 7 ported on HTC HD2 [ Video ]!!!

We always knew this day would come, some guys at xda.cn has managed to get WP7 up and running on a HTC HD2. The HD2 which was the only capacitive screen Windows Mobile device was expected to get an unofficial port of WP7. This does not look like the release build of Windows Phone 7 ( Xbox Live tile has a green background in the release build of WP7 ) . In the video you can see that the OS runs quite smoothly on the HD2, and they shows the various hubs like picture and games. The hardware keys have been mapped to mimic the Home and Back buttons, Search was not shown in the video, doesn’t necessarily mean its not there. They also demo the multi-touch pinch to zoom in the picture hub.
It looks nice and all and is a nice hacking feat but do you honestly want to run WP7 on the HD2 or get one of the new WP7 device ?
look the video at pocketnow:

This is indeed a great day to be an HD2 owner.
For the obvious question: when can I get my hands on it?
(Answer does probably have something to do with patience )
I saw that just a bit ago on twitter. Looks very promising. I wouldn't mind being able to boot wp7 just for the netflix streaming!

Its because Windows phone 7 needs a licence. You cannot access a few bits (one of them is marketplace ) without activating the OS

I think that may be correct. The ROM's must be big on those devices as they are meant to have more than 512 NAND storage. Hopefully they implement what HTC did in some and use the microSD as extra storage on them

i don't know, but energy's new extreme ROM has the same problem. Might have to do with the size of the port. My ROM is 400mb and that confuses the phone and it said on boot I only was using 56mb of storage.

There should be some mirrors soon thanks to one of the xda.cn people
Basically, nobody've tested it yet - too soon i guess.
Google translation from the above site:
HTC HD2 takes all three large-scale system to run successfully WP7
Windows Mobilephone the king of the group, has once again implemented a perfect trial run of WP7,HTC HD2 (parameters), the system has successfully transplanted Android 2.2 onto HD2, and now once again is trying to run WP7 for real, HD2 an emperor once again, becomes a focus of attention.
HTC HD2 performance of mobile phone configuration is in full compliance with the requirements of WP7, the screen has a 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen, built-in 1GHz processor and 500 million pixel camera. From the already listed HTC HD7 (parameters)of view, HD2 processor and the same type HD7, HD2's only drawback is its key design which does not meet the physical requirements of WP7, but it will not stop it from running WP7. Time is drawing near, let us work together to cheer!
