So I thought I'd start collecting what sucks about the mandatory rom.
Please, restrict your posts to just the problems you're having with the rom, no ranting, *****ing or whining
If you need space to host your videos/pictures, let me know and I'll host them for you.
My problems with the rom:
Ancient 1.5 build (let's face it, we're not getting a newer one)
Home app is not responsive after being idle for a while (I've missed calls waiting for the phone to respond to my key presses)
Home app often hangs for a few seconds
The 'drawer' often doesn't come up for the first few times that you drag your finger over it
Screen corruption when you open the keyboard (see picture below)
Many problems sending text messages
The screen takes quite a while before rotating when you rotate the device or open the keyboard (see other pic below)
The number buttons stick when you're using the on-screen keypad (i.e. enter your voicemail password)
Sometimes multiple key presses are recorded when you use the on-screen keypad (i.e. instead of dialing 2, you get 22 or 222)
Some times when you flip between the home screens, the animation stops halfway (i.e. half of each screen) and resumes after a few seconds
Significantly reduced battery life
a lot of market apps refuse to install (old SDK)

If this is a thread for complaining about your phone, I think this is the wrong place to discuss it, for one.

It's not to complain about the phone, but to collect the bugs/issues in the latest build that was forced onto HTC Dream users on the Rogers network (hence the no complaining clause).

losing the reception
dont forget to add losing the reception and not getting it back...dint realize until tried sending a message dint go through.... tried calling ...dint work.... friend tried calling me.... goes to voicemail......... gotta fkin restart the phone to get the reception back....funny thing is...connection shows all the bars.... fkin hate rogers...
Another crazy problem they introduced: if you use a screen lock pattern and you SLIDE THE SCREEN OPEN, then it bypasses the unlock screen.
I'm starting to wonder about this build. The 911 patch was trivial, so what is the deal with all the extra changes (that make the thing less than usable)? Robbers does NOT create the builds... they are all in the hands of HTC, and we know that HTC is better at it than this.
I'm starting to wonder if somebody at HTC decided to stick up for people saddled with robbers.... by making a build SO TERRIBLE that robbers will be forced to order another software update.... hopefully to the latest.
called rogers and tried to get them to remove the flag they wont. i was able for him to escalate the problem, i gave many reasons why i wouldnt update from this thread. he said they have fixed the sms problems but nothing else.
just heads up for those who got stuck with the update and are having problems call in.

"About Phone" details
Can anyone who has performed the new Robbers update post the information on the About Phone screen (in the settings menu), specifically the (1) Build Number, (2) The Kernel Version, (3) the Firmware version, (4) the baseband version. Or just post a screen capture that screen? Thanks.

I'm getting data, voice and sms drops after 3-6 hours of phone uptime. Sometimes they happen all at the same time, sometimes individually. Nothing on the phone indicates any problems, I have to periodically call & email myself to find out if I still have an actual phone.

I can't send SMS messages... All was working fine till about 15 minutes ago.
Every time i try to send a msg (tried diff numbers to test), it just says "sms failed" or something.
I can recieve SMS's and make phone calls.
This is really frustrating T_T
I wonder if any apps are the problem
However, the last thing I remember doing before it failed was testing out samsungs "Days" and "Feeds and Updates" widgets.
ps: I've tried rebooting a bunch of times, removing widgets etc.

I take it you have tried removing the battery?
As to reinstalling the App, have a look at this thread. It lists all the Apps on the Galaxy S.
If you can find the one you need (look at page 2 where a member has labelled them all) you may be able to sort it out by re-installing.
thanks for the help mate, unfortunately still no good.
I didn't remove any core apps, however i do have root.
Also, just factory reset the phone and still no good.
Im tempted to try flashing a new firmware...
I hope its not some problem with my provider or simcard.. that's hard to isolate though...

Have to say if you've factory reset then it does indeed point to the telco or card.
If you don't have another SIM card to hand why not take it down to your telco provider and ask them to slip one in and see if a different SIM card would work.
Either that or ask one of your mates if they could temporary let you use their card just to see if you can send messages from their account.
Good idea. I'll see if i can borrow someones simcard.
Also, I just flashed JFB firmware, and the situation is the same (sms not sending).

If it's still the same after flashing then yes, it points towards the SIM card.
Either that or your on a plan that restricts you sending when you go over your limit.
Wish you well finding another.
YAY FIXED!!!
I was googling it up and found some info on SMSC numbers for optus, however I couldn't figure out how to change the SMSC number on the phone.
Lucky when I called up optus customer support, it was super quickly resolved.
Messaging > Menu touch button > Settings > Message centre
Very happy, although I don't know how the problem occured in the first place... :S
(I understand that settings are erasing during firmware update, but I was using stock firmware when the problem started)

Hello
Keybad to contact switch lag !
Wait 1s to max 5s
That's normal?
Thank you
My s4 not root.
Hello When I am on the phone keys and I pass on contact time its takes 5 seconds! Is this normal? My s4 is the original version
I am struggling too understand what you are saying but I will do my best to decipher what you said.
When you switch from the phone dialer to contacts, there is a small delay while the phone loads your contacts. I too experience the small delay and I would assume the delay would become worse with a greater amount of contacts.

There should not be a 5 second delay.. maybe 1 second.

I think what he means is that he gets a 5 second delay when he's moving from Keypad to contacts.
I get a 1.5 sec lag and I have about 400 contacts, so maybe 5 secs is a bit too much.
Try again and see if it's still that long.

I too have a little lag about 1-2 seconds, but i guess you should take into account a few things.
Number of contacts you have
Number fo] active applications active (If your stock there could be several bloatware apps running in the background using your precious RAM)
If still not happy with the lag then you best option would be to take your phone back into the Store and discuss with them and perhaps have your phone reviewed.
5 seconds is certainly a long time to wait for the contact to load i believe so there could be a hardware issue. Do you have any other lag issues accessing other parts of you phone ?

oh i do agree based on the specs of the phone.
Hence my last statement. that being said we all know how much bloatware gets installed with stock roms from a carrier. just throwing that out as a possible issue. but i personally think it could be hardware based issue.
the problem of five seconds is not all the time .....
sometimes it's super fast
sometimes it is very slow ... max 5s
I send an email from samsung ....

Correct, I only have 43 contacts and the lag is still there. Was there as well on the SGS2 so I highly doubt a fix is in the works. Initial load is extremely slow. Re-opening is in an instant.
That's why I'm using ExDialer. Way quicker, smoother, more options, the works. Opens in a flash, scrolls smooth like a baby's butt :good:
When switching over to the contacts tab from the dialer, you are actually leaving the phone app and loading the separate contacts app. What's perceived as lag is simply the normal course of the app starting. It is no different than starting any other app that is not currently cached in memory.

6 hours solid later (yes, I was a little over the top but i didnt wanna brick my baby). I have completed upgrading my device to 6.0. Haven't done whatever the TWRP thing is yet or rooted my phone either.
My device build number is ALE-L21
It states in the "About phone" section that I do in fact have EMUI 4.0 and Android version 6.0.
I see most are having issues with a other things BUT!? MY issue is the themes that aren't working properly, like i can download all of them but when i hit a apply it does the apply load thing and then drops me straight back on homescreen. Even customization has been hit and miss. Rebooted after each change and everything yet nothing works... this is my first time delving this deep into phones before and i feel i might have stuffed something up :/
Also since going through this process i notice the the boot screen at shut down no longer appears.. maybe that is supposed to be that way maybe not.. dunno.. I am going to perform a backup to HIsuite and will do a factory reset to see how that goes...
If i factory reset before doing the TWRP thing.. will i be essentially starting from scratch?
So as I apparently have installed the dual sim Firmware, i don't imagine there being any major issues with that. I read that most P8 lites got released with dual ports but one was disabled. However, I should not. I had to do every update manually. Even now it still says i am capped at B551, when i am ready people for B570 and all that... I don't know what to do about that, maybe that'll be the fix for my themes that i need. I also noted that the region for the 6.0 firmware was for Europe i believe, I live in new zealand and this still worked for my phone. Taken calls and texts since the upgrade perfectly fine.... just them themes are grinding on me... gotta get it right.. i hear some are literally just dumping the .hwt files straight into the memory.. i don't feel that's wise...
I had same Issue in MM but I went back to 5.0.1 because Snapchat recording is very slow(lag) in MM and I don't know why.
The way I fixed the themes things was applying the Obsidian(magazine) theme that comes with the update. Was the only one that works for me, then you can put yours and it should works, at least works for me.
Btw, sorry for bad english
Actually it's funny that you bring up Snapchat. See prior to updating I was receiving 0 notifications from any social media based app, Snapchat included. Everything was running slow and it was generally unpleasant. It seems like things run smoother now, aside from games that is; games are absolutely terrible to play now.
I have tried lots of different ideas in regards to the theme issue. It seems that nothing works, so I have had to settle for this nice blue wallpaper and lock screen combo. Even before the big update I was having troubles with themes but now it's much worse.
Ehhh bad English is still better than no English. We couldn't even converse if you didn't speak it so thank you for trying

Hmm, can you set a lockscreen wallpaper? I don't. I can set the home screen and that change the lockscreen too. That was the way I noticed the bug
Honestly... I don't really have much choice... if I choose the wallpaper to be one thing and the lock screen another... it just chooses one and they both have the same... it's so weird.

You tried to set the obsidian theme?? It should work
OKAY, OKAY, OKAY!!!
Before I left to go shopping a couple of hours back these themes would not work with me. I'm calling shenanigans on this. After trialing Obsidian like you suggested, they were all working properly. However it seems to be really delicate. I started customizing it a whole lot and it broke again... So nice to know that it does actually work.
Also interesting was the fact that before I tried obsidian, the app icon pack was vanilla android rather than EMUI pack.... curious...
thanks for the headsup on that one mate. Should have listened to ya sooner.
P.S. I tried out snapchat, forgot i had it... really bad on 6.0... I am glad I don't use it much...
Damn, Idk you should try to go back LP and updating another version. Which build are you on?
And about Snapchat and performance, I live in Costa Rica, I'm not even in Europe haha
But everything works fine, sms, calls, etc. The phone is faster and the apps are good. The build is stable and smooth. The only *****ng problem I got is when I try to record a video in Snapchat, it goes like 1fps, very laggy and not take even a decent video. This happens in LP when you put a lens and try to record, but here in MM you can't record anything. The camera app goes well too. It's a Snapchat problem

That's another thing... I still haven't found a tutorial I can actually understand to teach me how to roll back my phone to LP lol
So the build I am using is B551. I got this build from this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/mega-thread-root-unbricking-updating-t3400994
Pretty straight forward instructions, had a bit of trouble trying to upgrade to 6.0 but I figured it out lol
What build you on?
There's a transition update i downloaded it from huawei website. You make local update an then update 5.0.1 build.
Or you can flash B052 vía fastboot.
And i'm sorry, i'm in LP right now, works better for me, im not going to MM anymore at least for now
It's a waste of time.
I hope you can make it works
Hi there
so I should not have asked this as a Q/A thread. I was hoping with the update they may have fixed the issue but no such joy. Hopefully someone has a work around or a fix:
I have been looking for a replacement for my Moto X Pure (because I am idiot and lost it). I liked the specs and the price of the Axon7 (having an support for an external SSD won me over vrs One Plus). Anyways I should have checked here first as there is a serious limitation for my use case. I use my phone for my work. Due to the way the work policies were setup we have to enable the password for Android start up. And as some of us have found out the hard ware that option is NOT supported with the current OS on the phone. From what I have read the phone is pre-encrypted so this option was removed.
My question (I know finally) was is there any way to get the start Android password working? I heard something about the un-locked boot loader but not sure if that is the ticket. I am not sure why the folks at ZTE removed that feature/option. Without getting this option re-enabled I have no choice but to send this phone back (take advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee) and look for something else... other than that I really like this phone! As always thank you XDA members!
Here is what I am seeing:

But when you try to touch to change the setting, it takes you to the area where you set/reset your screen lock password. And you get stuck in that loop.

From all I have seen, the startup password protection is not present on the ZTE rom. You can hit up the official forum mods for an answer, give them the app that is causing this so it can be verified. There are instances where people were prompted for password on startup after installing and wiping in TWRP. This is most likely the Android Device Manager suspicious behavior protection based on wording of the prompt
http://en.miui.com/thread-324522-1-1.html But i don't think this can be made a permanent prompt

thanks for the info. I ended up calling ZTE tech support on this issue. And after some digging they came back to me with "this is a know issue and we are working on it with no ETA yet" reply. So hopefully that will get some traction. The personal question is do I want to wait for them to fix it? Or should I return and get something else to support the cooperate work needs. But that is more of a personal question I have to answer... Thank you again!
Same problem here - I would buy this device but work requires the PIN (and no root) so currently not able to purchase. This and the lack of T-Mobile Wifi calling in current builds are the big blockers for me. I don't have trust to purchase until both are addressed. Hopefully that is soon as the new Google "Pixel" phones next week (despite the higher likely cost) are the alternative option to me right now.
This is far fetched, but some removed settings like screen on time are accessible through custom launcher activities like SOT. Maybe worth a shot?

Greetings,
I've recently bought a Nokia 6 for my mother, and, after some time, she is having a problem with incoming phone calls: she reports that, since two or three days, they are not showing anymore as they used to (screen below), but rather only as a pop-up on the highest part of the screen (similar to any notification from any app). I've tried to fix the problem for her but it's seems that the only way to bring up the old interface is to click on the pop-up, but my mother would rather have the "blue screen", as she calls it, every time she receives a phone call.
Thank you all for your time and sorry for my English, it is not my native language.

Greetings,
I've recently bought a Nokia 6 for my mother, and, after some time, she is having a problem with incoming phone calls: she reports that, since two or three days, they are not showing anymore as they used to (screen below), but rather only as a pop-up on the highest part of the screen (similar to any notification from any app). I've tried to fix the problem for her but it's seems that the only way to bring up the old interface is to click on the pop-up, but my mother would rather have the "blue screen", as she calls it, every time she receives a phone call.
Thank you all for your time and sorry for my English, it is not my native language.

Okay listen, this is not a problem actually, from android lollipop to oreo, it was maintained that if you are doing something with other app and suddenly a call came and tak you to the whole incoming call interface
This intrupts your current apps working, but now it depends on you, whether u want to accept the calls from the top of screen or you can finish working on the current app like you are using whatsapp and messaging someone and suddenly a call come, then you might can answer the person you are messaging that an incoming call is coming just wait for a while so i come back after call to join you again.
This can help you making understandable thing between people you talking with or you are doing any bank work and suddenly an incoming call can intrupt that work so you can finish your work and accept it after few seconds
Hope you get your answer
Hi, I am facing a slightly different issue. When the screen is locked, there is no Incoming Call Screen, instead only the screen gets lighted up with the digital clock, along with the ringer ofcourse. Any idea how to fix that?

Ok thanks. I think I will reset the phone since It seems after the Oreo update most of my notifications, especially the Outlook and AccuWeather apps are behaving strange. The phone automatically kills their processes.
I am also facing this problem
Hello i am also facing the same problem in nokia 6.1plus... what he is trying to say is when someone is calling, that person's name or number is not not appearing in the main screen instead of that it is appearing in the notification bar and to answer a call i have to go to notification bar and answer from there only... HI, I am facing a different challenge. When the phone rings while it is in my pocket, the phone automatically gets answered, even if I dont want to pick it. How can I change the setting of my phone so that it responses as per my instruction.

You can look under Settings > Display for an option called something like prevent wakeup when in pocket.
Alternatively, a hammer should do the trick.
Edit: The phone just broke my hammer, I'm out if ideas.
