Tmo Visual Voicemail app - Nexus One General

I came form a BB8900 and had trouble setting up the VVM app... the fix was easy. I downloaded the app then went on tmo selected the BB8700 (Bold) then added VVM to my account, final step was then open the app and connect it... worked like a charm...
***few notes, I tried doing it under the mytouch, they wanted me to change my internet plan so i went back and selected the Bold... I also called and they could not get it working...
So if anyone had a BB and doesn't want to change their data and msg plan do as I did.
Hope this isn't a repost ; )

SMS not working on cricket

I just flashed my phone and the phone works fine. I just have problems
with sms. I can't send or recv any sms messages. I used prl 1050 and 38515
and still the same. I keep getting message can't be sent and the
bottom of the screen shows error synchronizing. Is there any settings for
SMS in this phone? I did the *228 programming and it all went thru fine, and followed the instructions that ryan mogul posted for programming the phone with my new phone # and settings.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
thnx

Possible Solution: disable "Automatic Prepend" phone feature
This is an old thread, but if you use a Sprint-based ROM with Cricket, you'll probably have problems sending SMS.
Solution:
Turn of the feature "Automatic Prepend", which prepends a "1" to the phone# when sending SMS
HowTo:
Start Menu --> Settings --> Phone --> Services tab --> select Automatic Prepend --> click Settings button
change it to disabled, then click OK, then close all windows
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, PRL 1050 is no longer a working PRL, and will probably cause problems if you are using it. *228 is best method for loading a good PRL, although if you're a cricket user, and you have a diamond/touchpro, *228 will only work when you have a 1X (non-EVDO) PRL loaded, such as 1042. To get around this, you have load a 1X PRL before trying *228. Just copy the PRL file to your storage card, or to your Internal Storage or My Documents folder, and then dial ##775# (or ##778#) to use the HTC PRL loader to load the 1X prl (such as this one)
thnx for the reply , its already disabled still not working
can't send msgs but recv fine
and the data portion doesnt work , internet from cricket doesnt work also
i'm stumped
I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried different roms, tried *228, call cricket, ect. When I First got my phone i could send and receive txts, but MMS and data didn't work dispite the cab installs and manual pst programming I did. I have verified with a flasher that everything is flashed properly and he told me that it was probably my rom (RyanMogul2006's 3.1 light cricket build) I tried cooking my own, and also tried DCD's 3.2.6 (currently on) I don't understand why this wont work! I can make and receive calls no problem, but also when I load IE, it takes me to the mycricket.clearmode.com/brandstoreBPPortal/go?page=subscription where it tells me I need to subscribe to mobile web (it's included in my plan and confirmed by the reps)
any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I got everything working, seems there was a problem with my PST settings. Reinstalled Win 6.5 21885 (me thinks>)with cricket cabs
And did the PST setup below again

yeah i've deleted and re-entered my MSID and MDN, and all the [email protected] entries, and still nothing. I used DCD's 4.1, aku0.4.4, My own 6.5 28014 build and ##000000# and *228. NOTHING! I'm about to pull my hair out because I can't seen to make it over to a CricKet store before they close!
6800 only goes to Cricket portal mycricket.clearmode.com/brandstoreBPPortal/go?

I have had this problem with several phones lately. (A Q and two 6800's with Ryan Moguls Rom's. The problem is obviously Cricket's, because you can get to URL's within the Cricket Portal, but usually cant get other URL's (sporadically I would get google.com). The cricket people either swore I had Internet on my account or in the first case they charged me $5 to upgrade my account (to mobile Email) to no avail.
I finally took it to a Cricket owned store, and the guy said, o yeah, I will fix it, and he changed a setting (on their net) and it worked. In another case/different phone, a different store said that my $45 account, (special price, but includes Internet) did not show Internet on it, so he added it.
Find somebody at Cricket who knows something (the customer service over the phone is worthless) and tell them the basics (clearmode.com only) and see if they can fix it.
btw this is unrelated to the original SMS problem (I have seen this fixed by rechecking the PST settings & *228)
Okay I went a person yesterday, and they told me that if it shows up in the system as a "flashed phone" it will sometimes disable you from sending txts or anything. She changed it to a dummy phone (something Motorola) and then did an account refresh and now everything works! My guess is that this is what causes this, so I think we can safely close this thread now.

[Guide] Getting ride of the Phantom Voice Mail Icon (NOT THE TEXT MESSAGE ISSUE)

Thanks to a suggestion made by a follow XDA Member (Can't remember his name sorry!!)
Actually you can fix the Voice Mail Icon issue!!! The one that shows up in the top left corner, NOT the text mail issue.
Takes an OLD sprint phone and some time.
First, put your EVO back to a STOCK ROOTED ROM.
Get your old phone out of the junk drawer (HAS TO BE A NON ANDROID PHONE) and call Sprint. Have the OLD phone switched back onto your account (thus removing your EVO from your account).
Once the OLD phone is activated follow all the steps to activate your voice mail account.
Call your phone from a land line phone and leave yourself a message, then call your voice mail on your old phone and delete it. MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO OTHER MESSAGES IN YOUR YOUR VOICE MAIL ACCOUNT.
Now you can call Sprint back and reset up your EVO. Once your EVO is all set up your EVO will reprovision your VM account. Follow all the instructions to get your VM account setup again. This would be a good time to update all the radios, PRI and PRL and make sure you update your profile.
No go back into recovery and wipe all and either NAN Droid back to your old ROM or start fresh. If you Nandroid back to a ROM with the VM Icon on it, don't worry it will clear off.
Use Google Voice if you can from this point forward. I have flashed many AOSP ROMs since going through all these steps and I no longer have to STARE at the stupid VM Icon.
Bump this back up for those that might not have seen this fix. Takes some time to get it all done but I keep seeing post on how to get rid of the Voicemail Icon.
This process works perfectly.
Thanks, I'm tempted to try, but such a pain in the ass.

Yes it is but I am soooo glad that damn ICON is gone it was worth the time and effort. I have flashed back and forth between Sense and AOSP ROMs several times in the last few weeks and I have NOT had the voice Mail ICON sense.
Fixed!!!!!!!!! Posted my update on page 2 of this thread.
Thank you for posting this and explaining the issue in the unofficial CM7 thread. I was getting sick of people saying "use Google Voice" when they have no idea what they are talking about.
I have an old Samsung phone...may try this.

Worked like a charm. THANK YOU!!!!
Just did this...about to flash CM6. *fingers crossed*
BTW, you don't have to call....you can just use the Sprint chat.
EDIT: OH MY GOD IT WORKED.

God I hope somebody finds another way to clear it.
This took me about a good 45 minutes, but the process was simple and the results were as described. I no longer have to see that pesky and annoying voicemail icon. A+ guide

Unfortunately there us no other way. The problem lies with the voice mail that was trapped in your que... so to speak before you went to an Android phone.

I just tried this on my Sprint Hero and it worked like a charm. I have three small things to add:
1. You actually don't even have to call Sprint or chat. All you have to go is log onto mysprint.sprint.com, on the main page scroll down to your device, and select "Activate a new phone" from the "Manage my device" pulldown.
2. If you get a "Data Call Failure: Error Code 67" message when you first reactivate your Hero/Evo, just update your Profile and everything should be fine. You may need wifi to do this.
2. I would recommend that once you switch back to your Hero/Evo, flash a new rom rather than nandroiding back to one with the voicemail issue. I chose to try a nandroid first, and the issue was still present (although this may have been because I had GV messages in my inbox, not sure on this). However, as soon as I booted up a clean copy of AOSP, the notification was gone.
I have been searching for a fix for this issue for months. Thank you so much for posting this!
Hey, this is great. I hate talking to sprint, and that was the only thing stopping me. Will try this tonight. Thanks!

Just did this and it took less than 30 minutes. Trying to actually start a chat with them took a bit of time for me though.
Nandroid back into MIUI and it disappeared a minute later.

Same here. It helped that I had a land-line, and 2 sprint phones (EVO and my old dumb-phone)
I think I got lucky yesterday though. The night before I got up to level 3 tech and all they did was re-provision my voicemail account and that didn't fix it. Re-provisioning the voicemail does nothing, so you can tell them that if they want to try that first... it is a waste of time.
I got a level 1 guy yesterday and luckily, he had seen this problem before and was so easy to work with.
One thing he mentioned that may help people... when he sent me a voicemail on my old phone to delete, he marked the voicemail as URGENT. Not sure why that may help, but it worked for me.
I can use MIUI now without any New Voicemail (2) notifications!!!!!!!!!! I never thought I would see the day. Big thanks to the original poster.
Not sure, but I think you would be able to re-provision using EPST. Back in the Hero days when we lost data we would dial ##data# and enter MSL and reset the data. The phone would reboot and all was good! I wonder if something like this would work for voicemail. I have not experienced this problem, just trying to help.

This is true, however....for some reason when I tried to do this, it gave me an error message and I still had to contact Sprint. I guess it depends on the phone you are switching to. So YMMV.

Sprint Visual Voicemail AOSP

Okay so i spent 4 days uninstalling and reinstalling the sprint VVM app and following the directions from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982966&page=14
I must have attempted it over 200 times when suddenly.. IT JUST WORKED, i did a little dance, jumped around, did a backflip, the usual celebration stuff
Anyway, 24 hours later my MIUI somehow got stuck in a bootloop so i had to do a restore and i lost it, needless to say i've tried another 200 times to get my sprint visual voicemail working and it just keeps saying
"Data Restore Failed" On TitaniumBackup
Is there any flashable ZIP that i can just flash and get my VVM working? this is driving me insane, i have no idea what i did different the one time it worked but i just cannot get it to work again.. pleaaaaaase help
your not doing it right then, it has worked countless times for myself and friends. Somewhere along the lines you are skipping something or not following the directions fully
Trust me i am doing everything right
1.) Uninstall the voicemail
2.) Install the Voicemail APK
3.) Copy/paste the files from zip into the Titanium Backup Folder
4.) Restore DATA only from voicemail in titanium backup
and it should work.. but i get Data Restore Failed every single time
I swear i had seen a flashable zip fix for this somewhere, has anyone done this succesfully and have a zip?
Finally just got it working, i had to uninstall/reinstall Titanium Backup and then it worked, only took me like 60 more tries lol.. I am DEFINTEILY gonna make a nandroid back up RIGHT AWAY, but would still be interested in this ZIP for future referenes
Okay well i got the Application to install correctly, but i'm still not getting the voicemails to it... I was using google voice and i just tried to test my new sprint VVM and the voicemail still went to google's voice, so i uninstalled it and i keep trying to compose a message to myself and nothing is coming back...do i need to do something to turn off google voicemail ?

I have this same problem with google voice just earlier this morning.
First you have to login google voice account via the net and deactivate google voice. It will prompt you to dial *38 to deactivate, this should now revert you back to sprint visual voicemail. Hope this help.

SMS/MMS issues starting at 5PM EST 8/2/2011

Anybody else having issues not being able to send or receive texts as of around 5 PM EST yesterday? I thought it was my ROM (HW 002/Deck's 1.3b/Tiamat), so I superwiped, flashed a Sense ROM to update my profile/PRL, then superwiped again and did a clean Deck ROM flash and I'm still not getting or able to send texts...
Quick update:
Figuring something might have gotten screwed, I downloaded the individual flashable zips for radio/WiMAX/PRI/NV and flashed them individually, wiped cache/Dalvik, booted back into Sprint Lovers, updated profile & PRL and I'm still getting nothing. I'm doubtful about an outage considering my brother's stock EVO is sending and receiving with no issues. I REALLY don't want to get Sprint involved considering they'll give me a refurb with the 2.16.0000 HBoot and S-On.
Does anybody have any ideas? Please and thanks in advance.
I'm on PRL 60680 and I live in Atlanta, GA, if that helps...
Another update: I downgraded to PRL 01115 and I'm still getting nothing. I give up.
Figured it out. Google Voice/Sprint integration has screwed my SMS/MMS so I have to use the Voice app as my messaging app. Now I have to figure out how to get it back to working with the native app. Any ideas?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You'll need to be logged in with your Google voice account but go
google.com/voice/b/0/#phones
and you can uncheck "Receive Text messages on this Phone"
the other thing you can do is call up sprint and have them remove G Voice from accessing your phone completely
I was thinking about that, but then I went to 2 different local Sprint stores. One corporate and one "Sprint Authorized Reseller" and both stores had somebody who "claimed to be pretty smart" at Android. Both of which told me that I can't undo the GV integration. I've got SMS & voicemail working albeit slowly thanks to the atrociously slow GV app. MMS, I guess, is lost.

APN Settings

alright so im on the echo rom Via the verizon pf2 firmware. Selected sprint during the setup process. I have voice and messaging working. i edited the build props.... still no data. any advice anyone?
google your service providers apn settings and enter them in and if that didnt work after you did what was said i would go back and redo everything and slow down to make sure i did it all in order etc, sometimes a second run through will make it work
i hve them. the keybord im using now is messed up. some letters nd shift key re out.. i will type them up on something else nd post themwen i get min.
My experience is actually kind of strange. When I rooted my phone I actually lost the ability to edit APN. It does not show up anywhere in my phone. I had to edit the build.prop to get it working right. My messaging works but not picture messages which sucks. So I use a messaging app called 8sms and it fixes all my APN issues.
