wow....? we can use head phones - myTouch 3G, Magic General

http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Cell-Phone-Detail.aspx?cell-phone=MyTouch-3G-LE-Fender
but its a ugly color

If im not mistaken it has more ram than the standard one as well as the 3.5 headphone jack. Including with a 16gb sd card is always good, so i would say its an awesome on contract price for what you are getting.

[Q]Pros & Cons of M ? I wanna Buy !

guys,i just wanna buy this mobile ! as you guys are using this,i wanna ask you guys only(not any site's bull****s )..
plz help me out...what are the pros and cons of motorola droid razr m ?
Ive had mine for about 5 days so ill give you mine so far.
Pros:
1)One of the best if not the best form factor for a phone with this kind of screen.
2)Audio is excellent. If you play music with your phone, youll love it.
3)Quite a good looker.
4)Quite snappy.
Cons:
1)Camera is very average. Can be improved with settings but who wants to change those everytime for a simple picture.
2)Support is very bad atm. There are barely any roms for it and bootloader is still locked so any major support wont come for a while.
3)Its quite expensive for what its got.
4)Internal memory is low (8GB) and to make it worse, its troublesome to move big programs to the sd card since its not officially supported.
5) This is a big one, since Jelly Bean there is no USB Mass storage. I suggest you read on this is you need direct access to your memory cards.
Lasltly id say the screen is outdated BUT it makes up for it with its punchy contrast levels. Its also very readable in the sun so its so-so.

a lot of this is going to depend on what device you are coming from.
but, i really enjoy this phone a lot. i believe that software is going to be the same as with any other device with JB on it, so that becomes a wash. the camera is actually quite nice when you set it to HDR, otherwise, below average at best. it's not too expensive, just $50 from VZW (or you can buy off-contract for about $250).
you can insert your own memory card - so that helps with storage issues; but the battery is not removable.
but I recommend it if you want a smaller device that fits easily in your pocket.
the best feature of all (in my opinion) is the battery life. most folks can get a least 24 hours in between charges.
So I've only had this device a few days, but so far I like it a lot.
I came from the DNA, which I only could take for about 2 weeks. It's just too damn big. I'm not a small guy, but a NBA player or someone with similarly large hands is what the DNA is made for.
Prior to the DNA I had the Incredible 4G. Very similar form factor and while it technically has a smaller screen, I would say the screen on the Inc4 is much better. But the Razr M seems to be just fine for me. I'm not glued to the screen watching movies.
The battery life so far seems better than the Inc4. I can't say for sure as I'm still trying to decide which ROM is going to be my daily driver (Currently on Eclipse with Apex and I'm really liking it.)
Razr M is Epic!
This phone does not get nearly enough credit!
I have had it for about 2 months now, and the battery life is great if you use it for just talk and text, I can get a full day of moderate browsing on and off of wifi (I am a student and a university). I get up at 8 and don't plug it in to 10pm, and it has about 35%. This is with the stock JB that comes with it. Despite the low resolution of the screen It looks just as crisp as my friends SG3. I will say that for what I use it for HD screens are pointless.
The phone fits perfect in my hand, and i would guess that my hands are a little smaller than average. Development is growing steadily for the phone, I have been running the Eclipse rom on it for a few weeks now Via safestrap, but I just installed it to the stock slot today, so there is potential for more.
I love the design of the phone as well, very small bezel on the side. The soft buttons on the screen, that change depending on usage are great. All in all the phone has a great form factor.
I agree this phone deserves more credit. It has just as much power under the hood as the sgs3 except for 1gb less ram. Draw back is as someone already stated is the internal memory is smaller but the battery life kicks the S3 s ass.

I'm not sure what you paid for your phone or where you got it, but this might be the last phone on earth I'd call "expensive". While I agree on some of your other assessments, the phone is awesome for it's price.

Well i dont know where you got yours either but i can gurantee you for its price, its features are very sub-par. I paid $430 for mine on ebay (XT907) and that was cheap. Locally most telco's here have the XT905 close to $500 outright.
Compare the XT905/907 to the Xperia TX. The TX has a bigger and higher resolution screen, Better camera with the same dual core krait architecture. You can get it for $380. And to make it worse, the TX was released AFTER the Droid M/M.
For its feature set, this phone should be well below $350, i dont know how or why Motorola came up with such prices. Probably because of the form factor. Some people dont mind that, myself included but I KNOW alot of people put off by the pricing of this phone.
$99 (upgrade) w/2 year extension. It's "free" now on Verizon's site with a 2 year contract. I'm sure you have your reasons why you paid as much as you did, but I only upgrade when I have one available through Verizon. I'm cheap like that. At the time, a Razr Maxx was priced at $399 (w/contract). $99 as opposed to $399 is considerably less expensive. They aren't marketing this phone as if it's Motorola's flagship device. I knew the specs, and for what I need it has served me incredibly well.

Couldn't have said it better myself! I miss the resolution on the gs3 but that's about it. 32GB card in this phone makes the measly internal storage a non-issue.

you should have understood that when sammobile have started bashing microsd cards.
I think it's a good decision from Samsung. MicroSD just slows the device down. It already does, for example resuming of the Note 4 will be 300 ms faster if you have the microSD card removed. And I'm not even talking about file access itself. And the difference is now even going to get bigger. Just buy a phone with a decent amount of internal memory if you need it.
Meh, this is my last samsung device.
snap, no sd card no sale from me, likewise removable battery....
my wife was due a upgrade and wanted the s6 but because of this she is staying with the note 2.
People always compare the speed but in actual use, do you really need it to be THAT fast? SD card is really important if you have a lot of offline media. It doesn't make my device less useful or enjoyable if there's that microsecond lag or whatnot. Note 4 will be my last from Samsung then.
Sucks if true...
I like SD and removable battery! Hope that they dont copy the S6!!!

Yes, that's the whole idea of upgrading to a newer phone, right ?
But with no noticeable difference in real world usage or unnecessary need/want, a normal user won't upgrade immediately anyway.
I would never need another battery for my phone. As long as its 64gig or higher im fine with no micro sd.
The article sounds more like speculation rather than any reveal from a source.

I don't mind if they up the internal size to 64/128 standard considering the type of phone that it is, but I also don't believe I'm the typical user either. I go on trips and will take thousands of photo and video combinations. Transferring them via usb on my Mac Pro(same problem on my other PCs) would take a life-time because of how slow the Samsung program takes, so I just pop the microsd on an adapter and stick it into my computer and let everything transfer in a few minutes.
by Samsux hello LG
that's not a bad thing, only if no removeable battery.

Absolutely disagree with your opinion about this, even though you are kinda right.
The whole concept of the microsd slowing the phone down is wrong already. SDcards are there for external storage, not in any kind of use in combination of apps.
Also when you choose between 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage, you might drop an extra 200 bucks just for extra storage. Where a sd card is WAY cheaper.
They probably also remove the SD so the phone gets thinner; What is it with people and extreme thin phones?
Don't we all agree we would rather have an extra bit of juice instead of an 7mm thick phone? its just ridiculous.
Looks like I made the right choice in getting my Galaxy Note 4 N910C rather than waiting for the Note 5. Not having a user removable and microSDCard expansion is a deal killer for me.

Good post, I'm in complete agreement. I don't understand Samsung. One of the major benefits of buying the Note 4 or S5 was the removeable battery and MicroSD. Those features are also why people stick with Android instead of moving over to the dark side.
It must be a cost issue, there's no other rationale. If they are saving £5 per device by fixing the battery in place and removing the MicroSD slot, then that very quickly becomes a significant revenue boost when you're selling 1 million devices.
I'm not due an upgrade until September 2016, which will be Note 6 territory. If the Note 6 has a fixed battery and no MicroSD slot, then I won't be buying it.
The nexus 6 is looking like a more compelling upgrade now

the every time i want to have clean flash on note 5 , i should backup my data !!! aaaAAAAAAA disaster ...
Just don't buy the note 5 and be sure to let Samsung know why. No removable battery and no microSD is pretty crappy if you want to use your phone with the Gear VR or as a work phone without having to be glued to an outlet. I'm also expecting it to ship with android 5.1.1 as well, so it's an immediate no-buy for me as it will hardly be any better than the current Note 4. The note 6 on the other hand is going to be a significant improvement and will hopefully come with all the bells and whistles (samsung's custom core SoC).

Nexus 5X specs, underwhelmed

I've been using my Galaxy S4 for quite some time now. It's due to be replaced, and I've been following news about the Nexus 5X for a while, very much looking forward to it. And then the official specs came out... 2GB of RAM (same as my over two year old S4), max of 32GB of RAM.
The RAM I could probably live with in reality, but I'm not convinced of the 32GB. I added up the amount of storage I'm using now on my S4 combined internal and micro SD card, and plus the system ROM itself, that is going to add up very close to 32GB. I was really intending my next phone to be a 64GB.
I was hoping to keep something in the same size (closer to 5" than 6") instead of the "phablets". But this kind of threw a kink into those plans. Now I'm wondering if the 6P is actually the direction I go (or possibly a Moto X Pure). But I really don't want a phone that big, nor one that costs that much.
Am I missing something? Are there other smaller devices out there that have good/current generation specs? I was looking forward to the unlocked phone being carrier independent, that really puts a crimp in the options. Am trying to sort out my disappointment. I just feel, I don't know, like this is not at all the device I was hoping for.

Sounds like you need Sony Z5 compact. However I will say I love my Moto X pure and once you get used to the size it is not bad. I started out with the S4, then G2 and swore that 5.2 is my limit, then moved to 5.5 and swore that was my limit and now I'm at 5.7 and love it. It is a lot smaller than the 6P so I recommend it
The thing is the 2013 nexus 5 still feels as fast as any phone with google's android. Upping the processor but keeping the resolution means it will be even more capable. I mean it has 1080p but the same processor as the G4 which people feel is a great phone. It is going to run like a dream. I wouldn't be surprised if it outperforms WQHD phones running the 810. Just backup your photos/videos and delete them from the phone once in awhile.

Hey man, I feel your pain. I cancelled my order of the 5X after contemplating for a while. It has the specs of the HTC One M7 I had two years ago. It's just unacceptable. If you're someone who has music stored on your phone, has MANY pictures, this might not be the phone for you. If you stream your music, use google photos (online), then you probably be OK with 32GB. 16GB is just a no no.
Like I told someone else in another thread, make a nandroid backup, have a couple ROMS loaded into your phone, you'll already have your storage full on your 16GB phone lol...
I'm really just going to watch many videos and full reviews of the 5X when the time comes; if I hear great things about it I might consider. Like someone said, I agree with Nexus 5 (2013) phones working great and buttery smooth even til now, so why wouldn't the new one?

Yeah, I've definitely heard how well the 2013 Nexus 5 kept up - and I guess that's what I was hoping for in the new phone, but it seems the specs are more oriented to "today", not "tomorrow". I think the processsor is fine, RAM I can live with, but that darn 32GB storage. Yikes.

This is the EXACT situation I find myself in on my Galaxy S4. Fortunately because of my SD card, that isn't an issue. Given that the Nexus doesn't offer that, it just seems like the 32GB will fill up very fast. I don't want to move to my new phone and then be fighting storage problems all over again in 6-12 months. Apps, etc are only getting larger and fancier as time goes on.

I'd be perfectly willing to pay for the $50 or whatever to step up from 32GB to 64GB, just like you would typically do. (Well, I still think $50 is overpriced for that, but I'd do it anyway!) But it isn't even an option on the 5X.

well i dont think its that simple. adding one more option adds to the cost of manufacturing and logistics etc which changes their bottom line and marketing tactic or whatever.
I'm more let down by the ram than storage space... 2gb... really? I know my note 4 doesn't have that much more, but my previous phone had 2gb, and I was running low on memory at times.
5X is physically WAY bigger than the LG G2 and there is no wireless charging. 16GB storage with no microSD slot shouldn't exist. This thing is definitely a dud.
I ordered the 32GB version and was annoyed to have to pay $50 extra for it. The 2GB of RAM is beat.
Y'all can't keep comparing an older phone with older processors and operating systems to a newer phone
"I ran out of ram on my 3 year old phone with 2gb of ram blah blah whine whine cry cry"
My newer v6 jeep is faster and more efficient in every way than my old v8 jeep. Same concept. Newer design. Newer technology. Different device.
Between marshmallow, sensor hub, 808 processor, and other newer aspects of the phone. 2gb is fine.
My Nexus 6 running M Preview hasn't used more than 1.4gb ram. And the hardware in the n6 is inferior to the n5x

I've personally never ran out of space on a 32gb phone but I can definitely see this as an issue for some. For instance those who nandroid alot and those who store their music locally on their phone. An OTG would be a solution but a hassle to have to constantly plug in when you want to use it.
Personally I'd rather buy an OTG for those cases for super cheap than spend an extra $100 for a higher capacity phone
I was so hoping that Google would put a device that was true to the original nexus roots..I felt so let down by the N6
The specs of the N5X are mediocre at best.
16GB mem?
No wireless charging..c'mon..
Don't get me wrong - you're getting a fair bit for the money but I feel they've let the ball drop in a couple of key areas. Had they included those this phone would have smashed all the others..
6P is just way overpriced - huawei trying to get in at the top end of the market. It wont work.

An S810, 3GB of RAM, a top of the line camera, fingerprint sensor, and a full metal design for $499, you think that's overpriced? I'd have to disagree, as most if not all phones boasting the same specs are at least $150 more.
Now onto the 5x, yeah, max 32gb rom is a let down, but at the same time, you can work with it. If it doesn't work for you then this isn't the phone for you (why I ordered the 6p). The more important letdown was the 2gb of ram (the bigger reason for me getting the 6p).
There are plenty of people who cannot and will not fill up a 32gb phone, I see it everyday. Just gotta get the device that's right for you ?
I feel my Nexus 5 is still as fast as the best of them today... which just shows how much technology has plateaued. The 1080p display still wows me compared to other 2K phones, and the processor is still fast to me. I don't think I'm willing to give my storm trooper up just yet... maybe the S7 or Nexus 5X2 will have the 820, 1080p, 4 GB of RAM and an awesome camera for 2016 standards.
After having wireless charging for over 2 years, I've sworn to never buy a phone without it again.
It is a wireless phone!
The only time, and I mean the only time, I plug anything into my phone is when I'm flashing it.
Music? Bluetooth. (Or I use a FiiO)
Hands free? Bluetooth
Charging? The official nexus charger is on the side of my nightstand so I can see the phone if it goes off in the middle of the night, and the standard LG WCP-300 elsewhere.
Synchronizing data? Wifi. This happens automatically every night when I'm at home with the "syncme" app
I mean sheeet...I am quite aware the new usb-c is more rugged than micro-usb is, and less annoying since it plugs in every way...but once you charge your phone by just literally setting it down...you're so glad to never have to fish for that stupid cord again.
I even borrowed a router (the woodworking kind) and made a hole in my desk for the LG charger...it sits flush on my desk now and it's like it is never there.
Screw cords. It's 2015.
If a home cordless phone that I buy for $30 or even less can charge without fishing around for a stupid cable to plug in, than DAMMIT, my $400+ cell phone should be able to as well!
Why sit around and cry about the ram and storage? If it isn't for you, get something that is for you, end of story. 32GB of ram is much more than I'd need, I keep all my music downloaded on my tablet, and never play games or do any heavy duty tasks on my phone so the 5X would work just great for me. Everything is made to fit the needs of some people, not all people.
To the guys that say 2GB RAM is not enough. Are you all talking about for heavy multitasking, gaming or general use? Genuinely curious about the need for >2GB RAM on a phone.

32 gb vs 64 gb vs 128 gb

Nexus 6P is $50 off with Free overnight shipping until December 22 listed, I've never owned a smartphone that didn't have expandable storage (EVO 4G, Samsung Note2, Note4, Moto X Pure is my first without removable battery yet still enjoy the sdcard option) but have also tried USB OTG which is seems easy enough for transfers-expansion but wondering what size Nexus 6P people bought here & if they still think they made the right selection?
If N6P came with a replaceable battery, OIS for video recording, I'd get the 64 or 128 GB model but I'm still considering the 32 GB model because it'll likely be supplanted within 12 months but would appreciate some feedback from actual owners especially those who could comment on 4K video size & video recording size implications on this device..
Thanks!
i think 64 may be the sweet spot in terms of value. 32 is definitely too small for me. I've always filled up 32 gb too quick, especially on a nexus with nandroid backups and titanium backups. I got the 128gb and I'm very happy with that size. To me when i'm already spending so much, $100 more or less doesn't really make or break it and i'll probably keep the device close to 2 years. Yes, it may be suplanted in 12 months, but the nexus that supplants it will also lack removable storage and removeable battery.
Thanks, not sure why this thread is not visible in the XDA app without viewing in browser..I'll probably order the 64GB especially now that it's the same price the 32GB was a couple days ago..if for some reason I'm disappointed with the Nexus 6P I could return it but I hope it exceeds my somewhat skeptical expectations..
I went the 128gb route this time. I probably could have been ok with 64, but decided that it wasn't all that much more to get the most I could. I did this just to make sure i had enough room down the road. I would avoid the 32gb version as I have mine just about to that point and i don't really think I am that big of a data user, just seems to add up fast
32gb is fine for me, I have many apps and games on my phone and am only using 5gb, plenty of room for pictures and video if need be.
So completely user dependent. The N5 is still a completely viable phone, and it maxed out at 32GB.
I went with the 64GB because it was the value sweetspot to me, and since I have a child I plan to save a few movies for those waiting rooms and such instead of needing to stream them.
The one thing I will mention, if you really think you'll replace it in a year, you'll likely have an easier time selling the 64/128 configurations.
How much of the 32GB is user accessible?
Not too worried about photos as much as 4K video & slow mo video space demands.. I assume could be offloaded via USB OTG but that might get annoying..good to hear some are satisfied with 32GB however.
64GB should have better futureproof resale value than 32GB but I've never actually sold an old device rather keep them around as backups but they are starting to pile up I read a recent article that factory resets don't really delete data on Android but isn't everything encrypted by default now without a significant performance hit..?
I've had the Samsung S4 with 16 GB which I always thought was not enough, however I've always had a fast MicroSD card wiht 64GB which I stored all of my photos, music and videos on. This was plenty and so when I found a deal on the Nexus 6P for 450, I jumped on it. It was brand new and unlocked with two cases. I have had 20 GB of music typically, a lot of photos, and a few videos, 2 Nandroid backups and backups for apps for quick installs. When I went with the Nexus, after a couple of problematic flashes, which makes me love the external SD, because I never erased it by accident and makes it easy for re-flashing, I found that I will not be storing photos on it as I just backup to Google photos.
have you seen this review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9820/the-google-nexus-6p-review
it lays out the good with the bad. my biggest concerns were it being too big and the battery, and it hasn't been bad in either area.
One thing you can ask yourself is what are you storing on your current phone with the SD card? Do you still want to be able to carry that data around with you? Are you using it?
I went with the 64GB after considering those points. I had a G3 with a 64GB SD card loaded with movies and music... but the reality, I didn't really need/use it. I think I was doing it because I could. That's just me though. Some people do want to carry around their whole music catalogue.
Same goes for filming video - ask yourself how much you are doing now? It's probably a strong indicator of your future use.
(FWIW - I agree that when it comes to resale, the 64GB model probably marks the sweet spot)
Thanks I'll read through any review that actual owners think is fair..
I have 128 GB cards nearly full of videos but like you I don't really need all of them rather was doing it because I could & still could on the Nexus 6P I assume with USB OTG.. music library is uploaded to Google Music but are there cloud services that can stream HD videos as well as local-probably none that I'd entirely trust-there are even photos that I'd rather not trust in the cloud?
I should mention that I've considered Nexus handsets in the past but they always lost to the competition in side by side comparisons starting from the Evo 4G to Note 2 to Note 4 last year which beat the Nexus 6 in side by side comparisons. On paper the Nexus 6P looks interesting but I haven't been able to run side by side comparisons yet (coming to Best Buy soon apparently).. Note 5 having lost its removable battery & storage no longer trumps more versatile unlocked devices like the Moto X Pure which I own & prefer especially with its rich front facing stereo speakers but since I want longer battery, fingerprint sensor & latest updates to a bright screen (though not as bright as MXP I've read) with front facing stereo speakers (which I'm told are louder but not as rich as MXP), I think this year is time to give Nexus handsets another try..if the 64GB aluminum is still available at $499+tax tomorrow Noon I'll probably pull the proverbial trigger unless this thread directs elsewhere..
The only reservation I have about the 128GB memory is its effect on battery life. Does anyone know a formula to compute the effect of greater memory on battery life?
I got the 32GB version in graphite grey because this was the only one I could obtain from Vodafone. Well, I would have loved the 64GB version too but worst case I could use a USB Type C stick for extra storage with some movies on it.
Thanks everyone so I ordered the 64GB Aluminum today (with expected overnight delivery by Monday or Tuesday) which including $36.80 in sales tax was $535.80..hope I like it more than http://www.anandtech.com/show/9820/the-google-nexus-6p-review seems to..
I'll have to check out sRGB mode because I'm not a fan of oversaturated AMOLED cartoony artificial looking colors but it never stopped me completely from buying Samsung Note 2 & 4 (still in Adapative display but switch modes on occasion) but do enjoy the natural non-saturated colors of MXP including clean LCD whites (even went away from default Vibrant mode to Normal Mode in its screen mode):
"I'd like to mention that I tested both the device's default colour calibration as well as its sRGB calibration. This setting is rather hidden for the average user: You have to enable the developer options menu by tapping repeatedly on the "Build Number" found in Settings => About Phone, after which the menu will appear under the global settings menu. It's a pity that Google didn't make this option more accessible via the general display settings, but it will be required to access if you care about accurate colour reproduction on the Nexus 6P."
"With Snapdragon 820 phones coming in just a few months there’s also the viable option to hold out for better alternatives as we're on the verge of a large generational jump that will undoubtedly bring a lot of improvements to the table."
Am I going to regret the Nexus 6P when Snapdragon 820 phones come soon?

Why I'm not getting the Pixel 2 (XL) Who else isn't?

As a long time Google Pixel/Nexus fan, I have parted ways. Yes, I still own my Pixel XL, and I do not have any intentions of getting rid of it. This may sound petty but the real deal-breaker was the lack of the headphone jack. I consider myself as an audiophile and a headphone jack is a must if I'm getting a new phone. I will miss the Immediate, first of them all updates, and the pure Android experience. I have moved onto the LG V30 as of yesterday 10/5. I never thought I'd own a LG. Instead of LG jumping on the bandwagon and ditching the headphone jack, they improved it with their "Quad DAC". Yes, it sounds better! No, it's not the placebo effect LOL. The tall OLED HDR screen is beautiful. The Camera is phenomenal! and this is becoming a LG review, sorry. There's a lot I can say about this phone that I'm not going to get into.
Who else isn't getting the Pixel 2 (XL)? (Not because of price)
P.S. Praying for someone to unlock the V30 bootloader, and start making pure Android ROMS!
Although it doesn't have a headphone jack, there are usb-c headphones that supposedly get better sound than the jack (analog vs digital), but LGs V series will always have better sound as long as they keep making sound a priority and putting in DACs.
Truthfully the LG V30 was high on my book, almost pulled the trigger on my T-Mobile work account "free service lol" but I sat and watch the Google Pixel 2/XL announcement and I started weighing options. The Quad DAC, HP jack, HDR screen and camera scored high for V30 but I've been on the 6P with Oreo in the last 2 months and saw the different in boot speed and snappiness on it, it was hard to go back to v7.1.2 on the V30, yes it will get v8, but when? What about v8.1x or V9 etc. I am an audiophile, I just got the Audio-Technica ATH DSR9BT and I own many Hi-Res can. I saw the 2 XL will support aptX-HD and many more codecs, this gave 2 XL a big plus even the LG has it too. It came down to pure Android OS vs LG skin. Pure Android won. Plus, I receive my XL 128G to replace my 6P early shutdown battery issue yesterday. I can now use that for a trade-in towards the 2 XL 128G which I did order. The LG V30 is a phenomenal device, I’m sure you’ll like it, I would too. Since I left Samsung to go to Nexus in 2015, I couldn’t see myself going other than pure Android experience.
I'm sticking with my PXL, I guess it's something in the water making people hands' larger or maybe has the comfortability to 2 hand use in many situations. I was looking for a 5" or 5.2", thin bezeled, no compromises Pixel 2. Waiting to see what Hauwei and Xiaomi put out. Then I'll wait to see what 2018 produces.

I would love a Pixel XL 2, but since I just laid out a ton of cash last November for the current Pixel XL 128, I really don't see that many changes making it worth another $1000 to me. I will probably take a hard look at the Pixel XL 3 if there is one. But seriously, a little better camera, a little faster, some water resistance (the biggest thing I would want) and still no wireless charging. I just can't justify it. I have had zero problems with my current Pixel, it's fast enough still (no lag or stutter), camera is great for me (if I want more I take out my DSLR), it just doesn't scream "buy me" to me.

A phone should last a two year life cycle, so yeah I won't be getting the 2017 Pixel. However I will get the 2018 pixel - that is if I don't damage the phone between now and this time next year.
I'm not getting one, I bought a Pixel XL and I wanted A pure Google phone so I had all options, Instead we are loosing options, Can't hook up a USB Flash drive, or keyboard or monitor or mouse, Now no headphone jack, I can't put a ROM on my phone no matter what I try. I'm done with Pixel phone and I going to Note 8 or a Chinese phone.
It's subjective. I haven't used a headphone jack in 2 years.

Google is giving you a $410 credit for the Pixel XL ( you might be able to get more on Craigslist), so it's not really a $1000 phone. Plus if you're on T-Mobile and/or looking to switch, they'll give you half the price of a Pixel on a Mastercard. So that alone makes it a couple hundred dollars vs $1000.

I understand all that and have looked into it, but it's really not something I want to spend money on right now. Not to jinx myself, but it's working great now, and I always like to keep my last phone as a backup so I don't really do trade-ins. Plus t-mobile 4g coverage sucks in most places that I travel a lot and I have given up getting phones through carriers years ago so they can't control me as easily (I know they are only reimbursing me but the stuff I have to agree to for the reimbursement is not my cup of tea). I have the cash to cover the full amount without concern, it's just not something I really care about right now. Not enough changes to the phone, I really think the Pixel 3 may have enough changes to make it worth it for me in another year.

If you truly were a audiophile 99% of headphone jacks on phones would sound like **** to you and no phone could drive your headphones because they would be 250Ohm+ and you would use a external usb dac/amp combo to get the best sound. I hat people calling themselves audiophiles and then using the crappy headphone jack of the pixel.

I can live without the headphone jack because I need a usb dac/amp so it doesnt matter and is just a dust catcher/waste of space to me.

Completely understand. I've been with T-Moble for the past 4 years and travel extensively for my job around the US. I can say that in the first year, 4G LTE service was spotty, but now, I have it pretty much everywhere I go. There were two exceptions: Anchorage, Alaska (though they had roaming agreements, not great speeds or coverage) and rural, upstate New York near Pulaski, NY (but then again, there wasn't much coverage there at all and that was two years ago).
And since I'm a T-Mobile customer already, I don't have to jump through any hoops. I'm not locked into a contract. I just have to add the phone to my T-Mobile One plan.

Seriously, as a one-time pro musician when it comes to a phone, you can barely notice a difference between a GREAT set of headphones and a DECENT set of headphones. I have a pair of $500 Shure SE535's that I use to use as onstage in-ear monitors. Even them when plugged into a phone do they not sound WAY better than any pair of decent buds. However, You plug them into something with powerful sound processing and there is a night and day difference between the Shure and aa decent pair of buds.
I haven't used wired headphones in almost 2 years now. For a long time I avoided BT headphones because they sucked, but now sound quality wise they don't sound much different than my $100 Klipsch buds. I think my X2's sound just as good as my Klipsch did and I don't have to worry about the wire.
People are funny.. "I want all the innovation, give me waterproofing, give me wireless charging, give me a battery that lasts 5 days, USB-C, Fast Charging.. innovate the sh** out of everything, but leave the damn headphone jack alone.. That should never change.. everything else should..but not that!" It's like they embrace change and innovation with all the other stuff but god forbid you take away the headphone jack. lol Just switch to BT or get a pair of USB-C headphones and stop complaining.. This is 2017 where everything is wireless... embrace the damn change

Fair enough. But I think if there is one thing that people like the way it is, while they want innovation from everything else, there may be a reason for that. I think the reality is the 3.5 mm jack is a more elegant simpler solution that is just as good, in terms of audio, if not better, than bluetooth.
The 3.5 mm jack is simple to use, doesn't require another device that needs charging (bluetooth headsets) and charger to go with it, doesn't require a device that has unreplaceable batteries that will lose their capacity over time and eventually fail, works with legacy devices (like the millions of cars that don't support bluetooth--and people will not run out to replace their cars just so they work with their phones), allows you to use your headphones in multiple settings (bluetooth headsets won't plug into the jacks on planes), doesn't require the hassel of dongles, and doesn't require the extra steps of bluetooth pairing that can fail and need trouble shooting and be a pain (etc.). All of that is a lot of hassle to do through just to avoid having wires.
New is not always better.
Indeed, I was reading about the 3.5 mm jack and saw that it has been in use since the 1950s. And the phone jack of any size was first invented for phone systems in the late 1800s. Something that sticks around that long, through that many different shifts in technology, may have something going for it. I think what that is is simplicity.

So this post is for you to get validity for your choice? Lol
" pure android ROMs "? What is this? Aosp? You cannot get pure aosp ROMs on a caf based device. The only devices that use pure aosp are google phones.
I have already got a pair of QC30 and another pair of SONY WF-1000X, both wireless, the headphone jack is not a big issue for me...
Headphone jack is one thing but for quality sound it all depends on the internals. I would have been peeved by the lack of the headphone before, that is until I tried one of the USB-C headphone dongles that came with the HTC U11 I bought for my mom. It's a noticeable improvement over my S8+ headphone jack (you can AB since then you have 2 headphone jacks) and also my V20. Sure the Pixel 2 doesn't have a headphone jack but if it's replaced by a simple dongle that gives even better sound quality than 99% of other mobile phones I don't mind at all. Plus I miss front facing speakers too.
Very likely not getting this. I am still rocking my trusty old N6P 128gb.
I was really looking forward to replace it with the Pixel 2 XL 128GB, then I saw the price. It's just too much money for a damn phone. I can build a PC rig out of decent parts with that amount of cash. It's worse that it's not being sold in my country so importing it will burn a larger hole in my pocket.
As for the lack of 3.5mm port, my only concern with using USB-C dongle / earphones, is how do you play games in landscape mode while using earphones? The dongle will be sticking out the middle of the phone, so grabbing the phone while playing a game sounds like it will give my right hand cramps. Also I don't care for bluetooth earphones, why do I have to have another device to charge??
I was not planning on getting it. But a month ago my wife broke the screen of her Nexus 6p. So me being an awesome husband offered her my Pixel XL but in return I would be buying the Pixel 2 Xl that should be arriving in a couple of weeks.
Edit: fixed typo

At what point did i say i was a headphone freak? I come from many years in the car audio field. I'm just now getting into home audio. I listen to music everyday and i dont have any wireless headphones. i have a wired set of IEMs (Bose...) and HD650. i dont use the HD650 on my phone without a DAC/AMP for obvious reasons. but its nice not to carry around a dac/amp strapped to my phone. I know that a phone will never be like my Emotiva XDA or Schiit Modi, but like i said before its nice to still have it.
